of your mods, the one that I would blame first is AlwaysOnServer

I'm trying out Fishing Trawler and I'm terrible at it lol
I understand the net fixing and the engine fixing. The water bucket thing also. But how do you patch the holes where the water is coming from? I thought the guy said you could patch those, but right clicking didn't seem to help

Should be able to right click on the holes

does anyone know any like aesthetic type mods?

#

What kind of aesthetic?

quiet osprey
#

Hey! I’m wondering if anyone has experience recently with stardew valley expanded and multiplayer. I see things from like a yearish ago saying if a farmhand tried to marry a npc from sdve it wrecks the game. Does anyone here know if that has been fixed?

umbral mica
#

doesnt really matter, just anything that goes along with an aesthetic i guess.

late nebula
#

Aesthetic is a broad word.

umbral mica
#

it is isnt it.

#

i guess like a soft type, something to just make the game a little more clam.

If you want something kinda cottagecore-esque though... Look up Medieval Buildings, Way Back Pelican Town, and all the mods made by cometkins, Dust Beauty, and DaisyNiko.

There are also naver mods. A lot of those are soft, but it can be hard to get into if you can't speak Korean, can't make a Naver account, and/or don't know how to convert xnb mods into Content Patcher mods.

#

Not impossible though.

umbral mica
#

yeah, naver mods are what make me confused. same goes for SDVE.

late nebula

Nearly every Naver mod I've been interested in has turned out to be either locked behind the site or an xnb mod and I just can't be bothered to convert them.

I hardly even know how to convert them.

The Producer Framework Mod (PFM) warnings, not errors, are because there are optional mods that you don't have installed, so it's not using those rules. Again these are optional mods, so you can safely ignore these warnings. Same with the Json Assets (JA) warning about lavender. You don't have an optional pack that adds lavender.
I don't know about the Content Patcher (CP) warnings about Stardew Valley Expanded (SVE) though, but you could try reinstalling SVE and see if that helps.

unborn verge
#

anyone know where the pinky lemon box that is usually in the stardrop saloon is in stardew valley expanded?

fathom trench
#

im about to have my first greenhouse full of ancient fruit. two more days. really wish i had a mod that had casks that worked like the other things from the Industrialization mod

unborn verge
#

oh nvm haha

fathom trench
#

i found a mod that would work for what i want for the caks

muted pagoda
#

there is advanced casks

#

not sure how much better they are than normal

fathom trench
#

it isn't amazingly broken, but it adds 2 new types of casks that take half and a quarter the vanilla time respectively, but are quite expensive to get to that point

#

that's the one i was looking at aha

muted pagoda
#

heh

#

I got my first industrialization machine last night, finally made it past spring

#

always end up restarting or getting bogged on in issues with memory/etc

#

actually was able to do 10 days in a sitting before being concerned with memory, was rather refreshing.

fathom trench
#

damn i usually play for like a season at a time, but i also only have around 110 mods

#

and no big expansion mods

#

my only "expansion" would be my farm map, EverFarm

#

i just finished upgrading my wine production shed into the industrial version. 203 Industrial Distillers in there.

#

the industrial kegs are about 10x as fast as the vanilla ones, since they take half the time but do 5 products at once, and they retain quality so you can skip a lot of processing for wine

muted pagoda
#

I have just about all of the big expansions, and raffadax.. and I also 10% profit margin..so, yeah, Summer 16 and I just got the 5000 coins to update my first tool from copper->steel, just broke 15k gross earnings. Its always..weird seeing videos of people play with regular settings.

fathom trench
#

im also working on trying to improve friendship with everyone to get all the recipes for true perfection

#

i should do a challenge at some point of a low profit margin... is there a mod that lets you make your profit margin anything? It would be harsh doing one at like 1% margin

muted pagoda
#

not sure if it likes less than whole percentages, but that's a vanilla setting you can change in your save file, also a mod that basically does/forces that

queen nimbus
#

you can put a custom profit margin by editing your save file

#

could be like .10 or 1.10

fathom trench
#

well ive never tried editing a save file, didn't know how hard it would be

muted pagoda
#

doing that does make you care a whole lot more about your energy economy than anything else.

#

its like the 10th <> in the save file, you could also just add profitmargins the mod, which basically just sets it at runtime for you via a config setting

queen nimbus
#

you can still just use the find command so you wont get confused

fathom trench
#

i figured from what Kyrinia was saying

muted pagoda
#

it does create some akwardness here and there where custom shop prices arent effected so buying some things is absurdly expensive

fathom trench
#

oh that would be fun

muted pagoda
#

savefile is a giant text file that looks similar to html, <blah> 3</blah>

fathom trench
#

i would like to play like with all my current mods at that low of profits

queen nimbus
#

you could also install hardewvalley

#

it changes the crafting recipes and more too

fathom trench
#

see ive never done a hard mode game, and i think it would be a lot of fun

muted pagoda
#

its definately different

queen nimbus
#

yeahh

muted pagoda
#

starting out you can buy literally all the parsnip seeds you could ever want, at 2c each

#

but like, have fun finding the energy

queen nimbus
#

you could also install the no seeds from shop so you have to rely on wild seeds

fathom trench
#

if i have the time next semester i want to get back into streaming, and i feel like something like that could be a fun thing to do

#

maybe do some more programming stuff at some point

muted pagoda
#

seedshortage is..interesting, I ended up stopping doing that because dealing with seedmaker got to be too annoying.

#

my mistake was I was also running way too many crop adding mods so it just became a giant jumbled mess.

fathom trench
#

i finally got my first magic chest from expanded storage...

#

thank the gods

muted pagoda
#

..heh

fathom trench
#

it's a chest that i believe has "inifnite" capacity

muted pagoda
#

nod, there's also a bag among other things

fathom trench
#

yea, i had been using a few iron chests from that mod for awhile

#

it was nice to move everything into one chest

muted pagoda
#

yeah, my chests keep growing children as I continue to find more crap I want to store until I figure out what to do with it

fathom trench
#

yea, i kept filling up on stone and wood

#

mostly stone, since i was doing a few deep runs for iridium in skull cavern

#

and was doing a ton of runs through the volcano trying to get the dragon teeth needed for the obelisk

muted pagoda
#

still havent figured out how you're intended to do skull cavern without dying in 3 hits.

fathom trench
#

the shoes from the volcano help

#

and bringing a ton of cooked dishes

#

the mermaid boots are the shoes i was referring to

fair frigate
fathom trench
#

i havent seen those yet, what are those?

lament prairie

Tbh I basically don’t bother before getting the galaxy sword

lament prairie
#

If you time it right you can deflect single serpents no problem, but multiple is an issue

fathom trench
#

dinosaur mayonnaise is the most valuable right?

#

the galaxy hammer is also good for the quick slam thing

lament prairie
#

Pepper rex can be combatted with sufficient good food

#

But early on it’s a waste of resources to do that

#

The bats are annoying, and slimes also a struggle until slime ring

#

But between galaxy sword, slime ring, nice boots, and practice with timing skull cavern isn’t as bad

fathom trench
#

how does one stop an egg from incubating

lament prairie
#

Still not my fave

#

I’m not sure you can

muted pagoda
#

all things I've never seen in my play, yay.

fathom trench
#

i wanted to set up automation to hatch dino eggs using automate, set a chest down and the incubator linked with the auto grabber (it hadn't previously), and started incubating a duck

lament prairie
#

You can practice with the normal mines

#

In order to build up to the slime ring and have a decent chance of getting a shard

fathom trench
#

the burglar ring is also useful

lament prairie
#

Also, the quarry has a solid chance at having a mystic stone when unlocked, in my experience

#

Which itself has a decent chance of yielding a shard

fathom trench
#

is it worth it to have a coop full of only dinosaurs? Or should i have a couple rabbits for the wool and rabbit feet

bright sun
#

I have made a horrible mistake of not keeping my mods up to date

lament prairie
#

Technically speaking iirc most profitable is normal chickens

#

Dinos are slightly less profitable but a lot less work

fathom trench
#

im guessing the normal chickens just from the sheer volume of eggs you get?

lament prairie
#

Since you only process once a week and don’t need to keep them happy

#

Yup, basically

#

Normal chickens are less profitable until they have higher hearts though

#

Since small eggs give normal quality Mayo

fathom trench
#

all my current animals are at max hearts

lament prairie
#

I personally enjoy a variety

#

Coops don’t have a high ceiling in profitability

#

And it’s nice to have access to all items

fathom trench
#

right now i have each a brown and white chicken, a void chicken, a rabbit, a duck, and a dino

#

soon to be 2 ducks

lament prairie
#

I like pairs for symmetry

#

And so they have a friend

fathom trench
#

i wish my pig would duplicate itself

#

my cow did twice

lament prairie
#

It’s random and depends on number of barns iirc

fathom trench
#

had two kids within a week

lament prairie
#

Of course this means it happens only when you’re not wishing for it 😛

fathom trench
#

ah i only have one barn and one coop. didn't want to have only animals to take care of, but now it may be good to do

#

my first batch of melon wine is almost done to iridium quality

#

nearly 2000 more of that to process

muted pagoda
#

I have.. a keg.

#

:p

fathom trench
#

i had a shed full of them

#

had 195 of them, and decided to fill the other available spaces (and replace all the normal ones) with the industrial ones

muted pagoda

also testing that autogc mod now that it has a version for net5, see if it curbs atleast a little bit the rather large leak per day

#

not sure if it's actually collectable garbage or not

#

at the end of that 10 day session sdv was using 9.4gb :p

fathom trench
#

damn... mine currently is using about 1.2GB

bright sun
#

I'm so out of date SMAPI doesn't even register

#

I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow

plush oriole
#

hey @tired brook would just like to point out that the beta version of SMAPI (for SDV 1.5.5) doesn't install correctly with Vortex. c:

#

i do have the 64-bit support extension for vortex

fathom trench
muted pagoda
#

you dont need any user extension for 1.5.5, though installing smapi itself with vortex is generally a bad plan

fathom trench
#

people keep saying this, i must be a very rare case. I have never had an issue using vortex with stardew.

muted pagoda
#

heh, save finished loading, sdv is at 3.5gb

#

it works just fine for mods, most of the issues people have with it are user created ones.

plush oriole
lament prairie
#

The biggest problem is that it’s very difficult to debug if anything does go wrong

plush oriole
lament prairie
#

So when users who prefer not to dig into the details use it avoid dealing with them, they’re in for a really bad time when it fails

muted pagoda
#

funny, its working just fine for me :p

plush oriole
lament prairie
#

And we can’t really figure how to debug vortex BC it doesn’t exactly give us clues to go iff

#

It’s like “my mods don’t work, I don’t know why, and I can’t force it to tell me why it’s just randomly deleted some stuff”

plush oriole
#

i mean, this is all i have in my vortex right now. 3.12.8 installed just fine but 3.13.0 just put the installer into my mods folder. 😂

#

also just realized the 64-bit support extension isn't even made by pathoschild

#

it just says it was made by pathoschild 😂

muted pagoda
#

yes, and like I said, you dont need that anymore.

#

there was a user extension for the unofficial 64 bit client because it used a different exe name

#

without it, it would not detect it as a game folder

plush oriole
#

nope. still just extracting the installer. :/

tired brook
plush oriole
#

damn and kyrinia tried to convince me that i was crazy and i was the only one having this issue 😂

muted pagoda
#

I did? I said rather pointedly that installing smapi itself thru vortex was a bad idea. Which, because it's not a mod requires special handling and can break in unexpected ways.

plush oriole
plush oriole
plush oriole
late nebula
#

Vortex in general is just a bad idea. People come here having issues with it messing up their mods every single day.

fathom trench
#

well, i won't tell you how to get the thing, but its a thing.

late nebula
#

More things!

#

(I generally know what all was added, just trying to avoid knowing what little I can.)

plush oriole
#

Just making the assumption based on my knowledge of Vortex.

late nebula
#

Actually missing manifests

#

Vortex likes to snack on them.

plush oriole
#

🤔

late nebula
#

Then it will sometimes update mods to the beta versions when a person isn't using the beta.

fathom trench
#

in my experience, if you know how to use vortex you shouldn't have many issues. By "use" i mean understand how to fix simple issues or at the very least understand how to google an issue.

the only issue i have ever had is mods not deleting fully, but i figured out how to do that reliably so it isn't an issue

plush oriole
fathom trench
late nebula
#

Well, no one reads mod descriptions so... nyaSleepstudying

fathom trench
#

that isn't Vortex's fault

late nebula
#

Nope

fathom trench
#

people are just idiots

late nebula
#

Kinda a separate issue just compounded when people blindly install with mod managers.

#

Then there are the upcoming Collections, which I am not excited about.

fathom trench
#

im a firm believer that if you can't take the 5 seconds it takes to look over a mod page when you have to go to the mod page to initiate the download, you probably don't need to download it

#

are collections basically modpacks?

plush oriole
#

also whenever it can vortex should have a button to view changelogs in the app.

fathom trench
#

or are they like a modified "Content Pack" type thing

late nebula
#

Yeah modpacks

#

Collections are what initiated the limitation on mod deletion for creators and made a bunch of people upset.

plush oriole
#

i mean, i'm fine with the idea of collections since mod packs are pretty big (especially in Skyrim); just not with being unable to delete mod files.

fathom trench
#

so because people want to be able to make modpacks, nexus said "you can't delete your mod"?

late nebula
#

Yep

plush oriole
#

but also old versions of mods can't be deleted.

late nebula
#

I don't know if Nexus has an opt-out like mod drop does though.

muted pagoda
#

'but if a mod author deletes mod 1 version 22 of 7342587345 in modpack b, modpack b won't work anymore, oh noes'

#

is what spured that, stupid as it is and sounds

plush oriole
fathom trench
#

i have found an odd combination that will basically farm friendship points with anyone in your house

plush oriole
#

from my understanding, you can still delete mods and mod versions from the website, but they'll still be downloadable for collections.

#

they won't be removed from the server

fathom trench
#

the Part of the Community mod and some mod that basically sets everyone as talked to to not lose friendship makes it so when you go to sleep, your family all see you talking to people, raising friendship with them a slight bit

muted pagoda
#

which is the problem, mod author deletes x version because its broken, but 'creator Y makes mod pack with broken version modpack' mod author gets 8743587 bug posts forever

plush oriole
#

I feel like it should just warn the user and prompt them if they'd like to install the next more recent available version.

fathom trench
#

that can cause issues in itself

plush oriole
#

yeah, but it's better than removing the mod completely.

fathom trench
#

because if a mod in the pack depends on a specific version of another, updating that one it depends on makes the dependent no longer work

plush oriole
#

yeah, but would you rather it just not install Essential Library That Everyone Uses, use a newer version, or use an older version?

fathom trench
#

i'd rather it require Collection "authors" to create a manifest that requires version listings.

#

that;s how we handled it for Risk of Rain 2 on Thunderstore

plush oriole
#

like, a list of versions it supports?

fathom trench
#

the way we handled it with Thunderstore was file uploads required a manifest that listed all dependencies and the version of that dependency used. So if you made the collection with mods A,B,C with versions 1,1,2 then that was the versions that would be downloaded for the collection, no matter what the latest or default version of A,B,C are

#

makes it more annoying to upload collections and all, but makes it less of a nuisance on users

plush oriole
#

I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of collections?

fathom trench
#

then that would make this entire conversation moot

plush oriole
#

collections keep track of the versions of each mod. the problem is that nexus now keeps deleted versions of mods on the server in case the version needed is in a collection.

fathom trench
#

well that i don't necessarily see the issue in?

plush oriole
#

It removes the option for mod developers to completely remove their mod (or just versions of their mod) from Nexus.

fathom trench
#

ah yea fair

#

gods its 2 am...

How does walk of life compare to skill prestige?

Walk of Life is a skill overhaul mod.

Ah gotcha. I might check that out at some point

Hey can someone please help me? I'm having a problem installing SMAPI in the new beta (64x).
I have a 64 bits computer , but SMAPI says my desktop is not 64 and just closes once i try to install... I'm sure it's 64 and double checked.

dull valve

64bit SV only available in steam beta, as far as I know.

Okay, SO: i finally upgraded from android to pc for SDV. I want to add as many expanded world mods as possible. I have SVE and will add ridgeside today. What else is worthwhile and compatible? not aesthetic mods (i'll look into those some other time), but more storyline/areas/npcs/quests/etc

silent ridge
#

i recommend checking out ES (East scarpe), Downtown ZuZu and Garden Village up to you if u wish to explore them

dire fractal
#

If you enjoy Ridgeside you could also think about getting Lunna Astray. As for ES I'd recommend getting Always Raining in the Valley with it. Just makes the town a bit more lively with 3 additional NPCs (though 2 are antisocial right now).

vocal sequoia
#

What's SVE?

dire fractal
#

If you're more into fantasy like characters and settings I'd also recommend getting Lucikiel and Lavril and if you enjoy how the characters of East Scarp are written, you could check out Lemurkats other NPCs (who have immersive dialogue regarding the other ES NPCs)

# vocal sequoia this is what it looks like

the first one is the expantion , the second and third are farm layouts. If you want to play by yourself and get some small cute farm, grandpa's farm is for u, the immersive is my favourite, but is pretty huge

#

you can also ignore and play the normal farm layout if you wish

fathom plinth
#

there is a mod that replace radioactive ore with something more magical?

lunar cipher
# night ledge Oh? what's your favorite and/or what do you dislike about sve?

I admittedly haven't played any expansions in a while because of the modder's curse (being too busy creating mods to actually play) 😅 But I'd probably say Ridgeside for the quality and quantity of its content, especially now that it's got its 2.0 update. East Scarp along with all its character add-ons is a very strong second though!

I dislike SVE for a number of reasons:

  1. From an artistic perspective, I think the writing is average at best, unsubtle and cringeworthy at worst. Many of the characters I find to be very bland.
  2. It edits a lot of things (many of which it doesn't really need to) in order to be an "all-in-one" mod, which makes it a pain in the ass for other modders to maintain compatibility. A lot of SVE fans also end up harassing other mod authors to make sure their work is compatible with SVE or tell them that their work isn't worth using if it's not compatible, which is not on SVE's author but it's very frustrating
  3. The mod's author has done a lot of very dubious and distasteful things over the years, including taking assets and ideas from other mods. He made a not-quite apology for some of it the first time it happened, but not for others that happened later, and he likes to rules-lawyer when called out for this rather than admit wrongdoings. He also doesn't try to reach out to other mod authors about making SVE compatible with their mods and puts the burden of compatibility on others
night ledge
astral jewel
lunar cipher
#

I can see the appeal of an all-in-one mod, but I personally prefer being able to mix and match how I want my game to be modded 😄 There's actually a list of mod recommendations for people that want an SVE-like experience but with the flexibility and better compatibility of it not being an all-in-one: https://stardewmodding.wiki/wiki/Recommendations:_Modular_SVE

The Stardew Modding Wiki

This is a list of mods that seeks to create an Stardew Valley Expanded-like experience without using SVE, for people that can't or don't want to use that mod or who want some parts without using others.
This list isn't intended to be an "install all of these" list! It's a collection of mods that have similar effects to some of SVE's features so...

dire fractal
#

I think everyone should at least try SVE out for a couple months and decide based on that if they want to continue using it (and accept that not every mod should and will work with it) or to abandon it and try to create their own modded experience.
Just don't use SVE if it's your first time using mods. SDVpufferyoba

astral jewel
#

hey is lunna a good mod?

#

anyone has tried?

dire fractal
#

Yeah. But it takes a while to unlock the other town - so it's not as overwhelming if you wanna take your time.

Lunna? It's by the same creator as Ridgeside, so if you like one you might like the other. I've got it installed but attemptedly haven't done much with it

astral jewel

You don't have to, but their stories add to each other squeee

chrome cosmos
#

i would highly recommend both lavril and juliet!

astral jewel

i should start getting worried by now

chrome cosmos
#

Jay here has 1000+ SDVpuffersquee

astral jewel
#

HOW

#

god

#

you got a Nasa computer , mine is going to burn if i pass 200 mods

lunar cipher
#

Keep in mind too that SMAPI artificially increases the mod count because bigger mods with multiple parts (for example, a crop mod that also has new machines) will count as multiple mods. Ridgeside counts as about ten mods by itself or something

astral jewel
#

ah also , do you know any mod that improves wine farms?

lunar cipher
#

So in reality, the number of mods in your Mods folder will be much smaller than the number SMAPI reports

astral jewel
#

like new types of wine etc

#

i got a thing for wine making

late nebula
#

Does East Scarp have any issues if you add it to an existing game like RSV does?

lunar cipher
# astral jewel i got a thing for wine making

Grapes of Ferngill adds new grape varieties and I believe new wines as well, Fallen London Mushroom Wines adds new mushroom-based wines from the Fallen London/Sunless Seas games, Raffadax Teas & Trees adds divine wines along with many different types of port, sherry, brandy, etc, and Champagne Wishes adds new varieties of champagne grapes

late nebula

(I mostly want to avoid having 500 people to visit for that first quest... RSV lets you turn it off.. I suppose I could bypass it with CJB Cheats.)

Everytime I try copying the text into the copy part the website crashes

Just drag the file over?

You might have a looping error.

#

Open your log in a simple text editor like Notepad

#

Then scroll down to see if you can find an error that starts repeating itself.

#

You can delete everything after the first occurence, save the log, and it should work when you put it on the website.

I think I have double "Loved_Label"'s though and I can't find it

SVE comes with a lot of its dependencies pre-packaged which causes this issue a lot as soon as you want to start installing stuff that isn't SVE because you don't know that you already have the dependencies installed.
