@gaunt gust So, after some testing on my broken multiplayer:
The host is always fine.
The farmhand can enter the saloon, but crashes upon leaving. Regardless of farmhand or computer.
A new multiplayer farm doesn't cause that issue - but we're unsure if that means its the save, or if it's something that happens in a different season/time/friendship heart etc.
On VERY rare occasions, the error will resolve itself and the farmhand can leave the saloon at will without error until they restart their client.

Hello! I'm trying to update smapi to 3.12.8 but every time I try to install I get an error that says "System.IO.IOException: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". I do have my stardew valley in a seprate external ssd drive but I was able to install smapi no problem. I even tried disconnecting / reconnecting the drive and I'm still getting this error
@Pathoschild#0001 If you have time, can you look at my error plz? It's not a mode error. It's not even an xnb error. Only when chatting in Korean, errors occur in the SMAPI beta version. I think something went wrong.... 😭
Yeah, it looks like something in the cleanup code when leaving the Saloon, but this is past my pay grade, I'm sorry.

my guess is something got fucked up somehow- fish have the same item ids as regular objects, confusingly, so it may have been looking for the actual item with id 136 and made a wrong turn into bass land

@frozen sage idk if you can do something about that, and it is a very minor issue about the random mod. The R bundle has two items which are not suiting. Strawberry seeds and blueberry seeds. It is no biggie, but just want to point that out.
(I recommend Radish seeds and a red mushroom instead)
ok I moved my mods folder to a different folder and I tried to see if it would work again before reinstalling and well it downloaded. I put my mods back in to see if everything is working and the game is working but now its as if my mods were non existent. I guessing it was a mod issue but I dont understand why it was giving me this error in the first place when my previous version of smapi and all my mods were working just fine
did you check your launch options?
I don't launch the modded version through steam but I moved stuff around and I think it's working now. Well at least its loading in the console
Ok its all working now! Still can't understand why it was giving the error in the first place but at least if it happens again I know what other option I could try
Update: Farmer to Florist bug where recipes don't show up. (using older version since new version isnt compatible with new DGA). tried to use smapi commands to resend mail recipies, i got mail the next day but the prompt screen will not open. any other thoughts on how to force the game to forget which mail i've recieved?
that's odd. I'll take a look at it next time I do any work on the randomizer

Hi, I as just wondering if there is a mod similar to Stardew News Feed, or if anyone could update it to work on the current version. I haven't played the game in a couple of years and remembered this mod being a godsend on my farm.

Is there a mod where I can reverse the stardrop effect or simply a mod which doesn't let my farmer eat the stardrop instantly? I would rather not boos my farmer with 19 stardrops recieved from just a fried mushroom and a leek. 😅

depends on what you seek for. I recommend Downtown Zuzu, Always raining in the Valley (a story mod around three new NPCs), and June as a new NPC additionally to Ridgeside if you have that. otherwise idk

@unborn verge OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. some will require you to download the 1.5.5 version
very rarely a mod won't have a 1.5.5 version at all
Only a small percent of them don't work, and some of the ones that don't, have their own version

I say upgrade to the beta, run the game once to see which ones aren't compatible anymore, and then just downgrade if there's too many mods that you want that aren't

It won't harm anything as long as you don't open a save on it
Upgrading and downgrading only take a few minutes, so it's worth a shot to see how many mods won't work anymore

if you sell off every item that got shuffled that part should fix itself

yea. I've dealt with the shuffle before without issues. One thing that came up was the community center (which is how I know about the butter)
it showed as something else required instead of the butter which we'd already turned in. We just played with it because.. eh.
and realized that it was shuffled. Tried saloon, it worked.
then we took a break for dinner and stuff. Came back - shuffle had shifted back.
and saloon is broken again.

I didn't realize that DGA was supposed to fix that.
DGA does fix the json shuffle; the fix for it is a little harder for other frameworks to deal with so some haven't incorporated it yet
There are some possible changes in the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.5.6 that will let us permanently solve the Json Shuffle issue with Json Assets. Unfortunately it's a known issue until then though.
'm not particularly worried about the json shuffle itself.

it's the crashing upon leaving the saloon that I'd like to find a fix for.
JSON shuffle came up because when it DID item shuffle, the error went entirely away. But when it shuffled back, the error came back.

The only thing I can see is that Ridgside's music isn't installed correctly: Ridgeside Village Custom Music because you have multiple copies of this mod installed. To fix this, delete these folders and reinstall the mod: Mods\Ridgeside Village[CM] Ridgeside Village, Mods\Ridgeside Village[CM] Ridgeside Village WAV Files.

@vestal dust Sent! Can you both replace the files, cause the error again, then send me the log with the error? Some mods might show errors because they transpile code which is compiled a bit differently; hopefully they'll work well enough to reproduce the issue though.

hey, i was backreading and just so you know this is actually not the case for android. they were referring to 1.4, not 1.5.4- android is still on the previous update, the one before ginger island. mods updated for 1.5.4 or 1.5.5 will usually not work on android.

Sorry if this is a odd question but I have just started using mods for stardew, one of the first ones I decided on was long sleeves, cuz their cute, but after than when I downloaded some others (Noteably a shaders) the sleeves are replaced with these weird like red bags under my characters arms and was wondering if anyone could help me with knowing what to do to return the long sleeves

I don't think that'll effect things, but let's try forcing Oversized Sleeves to load last
rename the directory to something like zzzOversizedSleeves
without some of the main character mods, the save won't load, and the error doesn't replicate when starting a new coop game.

No need! So now for the fun part: you'll need to add a few mods back at a time, retesting after each set, to narrow down which mod is causing it. You can probably start by putting Stardew Valley Expanded, all the mods it needs, and CJB Cheats Menu back since I haven't heard of similar issues with those.

there's someone who took a different sleeves mod and replaced the sleeves with lambeeron's and it worked with that one

You can still use them, but if you run into issues and ask for help troubleshooting, the first piece of advice you’ll get is to stop using the mod manager, because it may obscure the real issue or be the cause of your issue.

fun fact. went to do that. Found a post buried in their stuff as a message to creators that has gone unresponded to:
Bug reports in the discord point to this mod having rearranged the vanilla tilesheets, which lowers compatibility with all mods that make any changes to the Saloon, such as SVE or the Love of Cooking kitchen compatibilities. This in turn makes it impossible for farmhands to enter without the host entering first.
we're still having the issue with just the cocoa shop mod and nothing else, so that's not entirely it.
but still.
@tired brook Here's the farmhand log from just the cocoa shop and dependencies (and error handler and console commands) being loaded, which did cause the error.

It really does look like it's the tilesheet order
If you love the cocoa mod and can't live without it, this is a relatively simple fix in Tiled, but you'd have to download Tiled, unpack the game, set up a folder with all the needed tilesheets, and then do a very simple rename, so it's probably not worth unless this a very beloved mod to you all.

If you look in past messages here, Pandora had a similar issue and it seemed to really just boil down to "some mods take forever to load on beta, primarily PyTK"
you were there earlier for stuff, and very patient with it.
I still don't know why it only affects the farmhands and not the host.

if you want to go back to a base version game, the easiest way is to bow out of vortex entirely and delete your mods folder.

Okay. So ignore vortex entirely for a minute. Start in your steam library. Right click on Stardew Valley and hit "Properties". In that box, under launch options, there's text. That text will tell you if you're running through vortex or not.
and if you are, you can change it so that you're directly loading smapi without vortex.

you should be able to do all that manually
just by changing out the folders in your Stardew Valley / Mods folder
So if there's a mod that you don't have, and you want, make sure that you have all of the other required mods for it.

and then download the zip file, and copy the files from that manual zip into Stardew Valley / Mods
And if there's a mod you're updating, just delete the folder that you're replacing before you copy it in there.
7zip is lowkey confusing me, I'm sorry. The website I'm reading says to right click the RAR file and select "Extract Here" with 7zip, but I don't see anything like that anywhere
from what I know of vortex, yes.
right click on the .rar. Scroll down to "7zip". Then scroll down to "extract here". It's not going to win any rewards for UI.

There's a few mods you're missing to make some things go. The red text of that log has the links to the mods you need to update.

If you downloaded them using vortex, it doesn't count. Vortex isn't seeing the updated versions, and in some cases, isn't seeing the dependency at all.

Curseforge will have the option to reload everything you'd used before. I would highly highly very extremely highly recommend against this route.

Because you're using a mod manager, you have mods installed that aren't working properly because the manager doesn't realize they need an update.
You technically can use ridgeside through a mod manager if you side load it - vortex or curseforge.
but you had TWO mod managers, and neither one of them told you that you were having issues.
it technically worked, I s'pose. Which you can absolutely return to. But adding a larger mod like ridgeside into a mix of outdated dependencies and other mods isn't going to do you any favors.

from there, you'll get a zip file, that you yourself will extract the contents of into your Stardew Valley \ Mods folder.
Doing that process for your mods -will- fix your issues.
Continuing to use Vortex and/or Curseforge leaves you in a grey mist that I personally can't see through. I'm sure it can be done. But there are reasons that neither the creator of Ridgeside nor the community as a whole will recommend it.

so it ended up being the fact stardew valley expanded was in beta
since my game is running perfectly now
Any time you get 'unresolved conflicts' it means the mod changed names enough for vortex to load it as a new mod, so you now have 2, rather than inplace upgrading the one installed
which generally becomes rather clear when you click the unresolved conflicts button
Oh man it's starting to really bug me that the quality of foragables from bushes and hoeing isn't affected by foraging level and professions :(

@ArcaneDescent @JessYoMama You can do it without a mod. Go to %appdata%/StardewValley and open the file called startup_preferences. ctrl + f for "playerLimit" and you'll find something like this: <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit>.

There are cabins you can build for cheap from Robin, so I would assume that way.. I have never played with that many people so I wouldn't know for sure

Just a quick guide on how to get more than 3 people on your farm. You can have up to 8 people at 1 time and can rotate in and out as many players as you have room for cabins. Mods are not required for the houses and can be done with a Vanilla game. Also included few helpful mods that help Multiplayer hosts stay organized and have fun. Downloads...

Ive noticed since the latest update of Ridgeside Village that i have trees growing out of control- they'll be in the middle of paths, houses, rivers and lakes. I can cut these ones down, however there also seems to be a glitch with bushes too; they also mave migrated into odd places. Any ideas what mod could be causing this, or what i could do?

No, but you can go into the files of the AV machines and set the minutes to 10. It's a lot of work though.

sed will set you up real fast. but Notepad ++'s regex find and replace will work pretty well too. In the find field: \"MinutesUntilReady\": \d+, . In the Replace field: \"MinutesUntilReady\": 10, . Make sure regex mode is selected.
