If you did happen to remove SVE I'd recommand starting a new game or adding it again.

If you're looking for new heart events I would recommend SVEX but outside of that I don't think there's a ton of mods that just add or expand on the current heart events

Is there a way to figure out which mods are the most stable? As in are fixed/updated the fastest when a new game update comes out?
!compat There's a (manually updated) list of every known SMAPI mod and its compatibility status with the latest game and SMAPI versions that you can use. For content mods, it will depend both on the parent framework (if the main framework is compatible, the pack should at least load), and more fuzzy things like "how does it edit/replace game assets, and if it replaces them entirely has it been updated since the last content update".

Well I think the question is more if a SV update comes out, like if 1.6 ever came out, how long would it be until x mod is compatible which isn't really an answerable question because it depends on how much the game changes, and how active the mod creator is which can vary over time
I would agree it's not really answerable in general, though I think if a mod is already running on unofficial updates, it's probably a good sign that it is slow to update in general 😄
Pathos's mods are the only guarantees 
But ig I'd say most pathoschild mods are consistently update very quickly after an update comes out

Pathos is the main SMAPI dev and maintainer, so if he is at a point where he's not updating mods for a major game version, you will have bigger problems than individual mod updates, hehehe
The entrance to the skull caverns in SVEX is towards the bottom right when you first spawn in lemme see if I can find a picture to better communicate what I mean

Does anyone have any notion of what the distribution of SV mods per hosting platform looks like? So how many "exclusive" mods are on Moddrop, Nexus and the Forum? Is it a good idea to check all three or is 99% on one of them?
The vast majority are on Nexus, most of those not posted elsewhere, with some crossposted to ModDrop and some exclusive to ModDrop. I don't think there are any forums exclusive mods.
Pathos listed a count awhile ago: <#making-mods-general message>, though it did not take exclusives into account.
You'll see most mods with Nexus checks alone, but it's worth checking MD to see if anything new and exclusive has come up since some people deliberately do not post to Nexus. (Especially if you're a "gotta catch 'em all" type of million-mods user :P )
I guess the Fallout from Nexus changes isn't all that big. I came across some but they definitely seems to be the minority. Thank you for sharing that insight!
(Similarly there are some that might not post to either site and only be on github, or a blog, or locked behind the Naver gate, or... 😄 )

You need an account to download Naver mods, but it is extremely hard to get one

DGA is pretty new in comparison but it should also be pretty easy. Really depends on what you need and expect.

I can't seem to get Teh's fishing overhaul to work. I'm using it with SVE and using the 2.15 unoffical patch but the fish.json and fishTraits.json won't generate, preventing me from doing the necessary fixes

Even if you've never coded before, it's very easy.
You can look at some of the various mods already made with it (look under "requirements") to get a feel for how much coding is(n't) involved.
There were some funky instructions on the nexus page believe. Akin to run it and delete the fish.json and it will generate on the next day or some vodoo like that.
At least for some that seems to have worked

Personally I don't use other sites like that either, so it's just not something I'd do. I think that there's a difference between saying something is hard (which is what you were originally responding to) vs it has requirements that go beyond what someone is willing to do

Hi! Small question lmao, but i'm playing on multiplayer a lot and my friend uses vanilla but i really would like to download some mods. I read somewhere that it should be easy enough to move/rename the mods folder so SMAPI doesn't catch it but when I was watching some download tutorials, the mods are moved into the original files of the game?? (i.e hair with characters, recolors of farms with buildings) how can u clean them up if i wanna coop with my friend again? LMAOO sorry if it makes no sense i have no idea what i'm doing

It's fine to leave it - you're probably just on the stable version of the game/SMAPI instead of the beta, so you'll need it soon anyway !
There are! Farm maps are a popular type of mod, so you should just browse around and see if something suits your tastes. You could also go to the page for Farm Type Manager and drop down the "required mods" section to look at "mods requiring this file" since farm maps adding more foraging and mining and stuff will probably require FTM.

It should still detect automatically where your game is installed! But if you open wherever that is and type pwd, whatever is printed in response is what you would paste for SMAPI. You can just put quotes around it to deal with the space.
(I would use /home/mouse/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley, for example.)

maybe you need to change the config settings of timespeed?
Sometimes we hit a random keyboard button when having TimeSpeed on, and it does something weird to the time progression, but that's really the only issue we get, and it's our own fault
use DSV instead, it has all the vanilla characters if you don't want to change any!

i deleted the extra timespeed mod and its still saying theres another timespeed mod ughguhhg
the log should show you the path of where the extra mod is stashed, have you checked it?

the extra one is stashed in the Farm Type Manager mod folder for some reason
also the coii mods you installed are xnbs which arent recommended, there should be Content Patcher versions of them
and youre missing Automate

not sure about the error but the stuck mail should be fixed by updating gifts from friends
Sadly it's not an actual update, the mod has the wrong ID and points to a different language version. I've got the most up to date English version 😦
its definitely the mod, youre on 1.0.0 while the mod is on 1.1. they just have the wrong manifest number in their mod
Huh, the only versions I've ever downloaded are 1.1, that's... odd. I'll try redownloading!
I edited my save file after starting a new game with the Beach Map to go back to the Immersive Farm 2 that SVE uses. I used the mod that lets you reset the terrain for the bushes and stuff but my greenhouse is still in the beach map location. Is there a way to move it? I don't even have access to it yet on this save but I imagine that it might have messed up warp points. Although if the warps aren't messed up then I don't really care about the location.

It is a case of a wrong manifest number. I downloaded the most recent version of Gifts from Friends and the version number is wrong. I'm not sure how that would be causing the issue, though?

I actually don't mind the location as long as the warps are ok. It kinda fits on the map.

Just before I do, in case I'm being an idiot, the mod comes like this. There's a mail.json INSIDE the MFM folder too, and no instructions. Just wondering if I'm being stupid and should know where to put that mail.json (it doesn't get picked up if its just in the Mods folder) or if it really is just confusing and I should def bring it up with the author? 😅

Darn. I downgraded the gifts mod, and it still isn't working. From paying attention to SMAPI, this error comes up every time I open the letter.

Does MFM have a special version for 1.5.5 and you are using that o: ? Are the gifts vanilla or from a mod? Like, strawberries versus... Uh... Avocados? I'm assuming there's a mod for avocados lol
As far as I know, all the gifts are vanilla. I'll have to double check if MFM itself has an up to date mod, I don't think Gifts itself has one though

If you got your log for this, that would help. I think to narrow it down you'd need to test removing other mods to see if it's an incompatibility or something. But if you at least got your log, I suspect the MFM mod author would be interested in seeing it, since it's likely it's a problem with MFM in the beta

That is precisely what the mod does. However it comes with a caveat: if you use any other dialog / heart event mods, and those add flirty components, they will still be there

AHA yes that's exactly what it says in the mod description
they can't specify labels differently so they used a more generic term for both platonic folks and folks you're dating on purpose
When I used it I was able to get people to 10 hearts without using bouquets. Once I used a bouquet then my player was dating that person, but could still get up to 10 hearts with everyone else
It should take the lock off the final two hearts and let you normally increase like you would a non datable npc
I wonder if you were also using Platonic Friendships (I think that's what it's called).

I have two custom NPCs that are standing in the same place at the flower dance. Denver and Chelsea. Is there a way I can change their positions myself quick, or is the best bet to comment on both mods and see if they can swap their NPC over one tile?

If you're up for editing the files yourself, you'd need to find which json file has festival positions for them, and change the coordinates. I recommend getting Debug Mode so you can see the coordinates in-game on pressing a hotkey, and then you can edit the correct json file using a text editor like Notepad

I just download the newest version of SMAPI for the beta and the Windows.bat installer won't open. It just flashes up on screen for a second and instantly closes. When I put the older version of SMAPI back in the folder, it opens fine. Any ideas please?

does anyone have a mod that adds a lighthouse?
to go into a little more detail, Platonic Relationships is a mechanics mod that removes the 8-heart cap for people you haven't given a bouquet but doesn't change the romantic dialogue+events (apart from adding a bouquet requirement for the 10 heart events), and Platonic Partners and Friendships changes dialogue+events for NPCs in the config list regardless of whether a bouquet was given or not
depending on your other mods, it can be useful to either use both of them together or just one

oh i wasn't correcting you, just adding more context for others in the thread haha
and leading into my recommendation for when to use PPaF alone and when to use them both
if you have mods that add flirty dialogue+events that require the bouquet, using PR works great because you can avoid giving the bouquet to people you don't want that stuff to trigger for
but if you have mods that add new dateable NPCs, using PR with PPaF might result in those NPCs being flirty with you unless you intentionally use disliked gifts etc to keep them at 8 hearts and below
Ye I personally use them both because I like having those last 2 hearts unlocked "by default" as it were, without giving the bouquet for the platonic friendships. That does mean I had to do personal tweaks to the dialog mods I use because they do get flirty 😅 but I know not everyone is all in like that 
good thinking on the personal tweaks! a great solution for anyone who is comfortable editing the .jsons
in the absence of any conflicting mods, i generally recommend using the two together like you do--PPaF does add unique dialogue for platonic bouquet recipients that you won't see if you're using PR to skip the bouquet, but it's still kind of a hacky solution and i think it's more immersive to not have to worry about the bouquet at all
also, i hope that one day i'll be able to provide compatibility for a wider selection of dialogue mods. gotta finish my dang thesis first though
So I can't pull up the flower dance map to get the coordinates, as I've passed that in game. If the coordinates say "13 41 3" does anyone know which number I would change to move them over one spot to the right?
the first number is X coordinate, the second number Y coordinate, and the 3rd number corresponds to the direction they're facing

Ah okay!! So each tile should be a different coordinate, so if I were to change the Y coordinate to 42, it should get moved over?
ye they'll move over in the y direction. I wish I could confidently say in which way (up or down) but I think the maps are wonky in SDV lol

haha ye no worries. One of the reasons I started playing only 1 day in a row is because I'd go tweak schedules and positions like you're doing, or changing config files 
My game takes forever to load (not actually, just like 5 mins 😂😂 if that) so I like to play multiple days. Either until it crashes or I need to change something lol
That's the other reason I started only playing 1 day in a row, I became deathly afraid of getting an OOM error again lol
I only got 2 in a short span of time but then I switched to only playing 1 day. My game takes about 4 min to load (including the save)
Luckily I figured out that I only started getting OOM errors after getting Ridgeside Village, so just gonna wait to get that one until the 64 bit update launches out of beta
I would love to have Expanded, East Scarpe, ZuZu City, and Ridgeside all at once.
But that's an OOM error waiting to happen lol

I also have this weird thing that's happening lately where the screen partially freezes, and the only way to get it to unfreeze is to tab out and tab back in 
But I chalk that up to having too many mods 😂
I haven't had that one yet. My game just froze for the first time this file, but luckily I had just started a day and didnt lose a lot.
it only seems to happen in the morning shortly after exiting the farmhouse and then it doesn't happen again
I have a daily screenshot mod that goes off when I leave the farm and it pauses the game for a second and I still freak out thinking my game froze lol

I use that one too! I have it set to be weekly though. I use the One Day at a Time mod that automatically closes the game after you save and HOOEY that took some getting used to. It doesn't say anything, it just closes and I would have freak outs like "OH NO DID IT CTD

Hmm? SMAPI writes the log as long as it's launched, and it stores the log until the next time it's launched, when it trashes it and writes a new one

I was really hesitant to move to the 1.5.5 beta but I was getting crashes every 2nd or 3rd game day played so I gave it a shot. I haven't crashed even once since and the only two mods that I love that don't have a beta version yet are Daily Task List and Love of Cooking. And I think both of those are being worked on already.

If you are just looking for the image files the tools are in the folder called "tile sheets" in the unpacked content folder.

It shouldnt break your save given I've been using it on the same save since I began. But it's up to you!
!unpack if you don't already know how to do that, and when in doubt check springobjects and cursors. the horse flute probably doesn't have its own separate xnb, it would be part of a sheet with many objects

Hi, looking at mods after years of not playing... Longevity looks like it has what I want- mainly, crop prices fluctuating randomly.
Lots of posts say not to use it because its outdated/etc though.. and theres a github page reccomending alt mods
but none of those mods actually have random crop prices that change throughout the game? Or am I missing something?
Alternatively, is there a mod that introduces "quests" that gives a player objectives to change up what they should plant? ex: Next town over wants a shipment of 200 x crop at 140% price, to be fulfilled in 25 days

Well I built my pc after the release of the RTX 3000 and AMD 5000 series
And an M.2 SSD also really cuts loading times down

A bunch of my mods are basically to change the look of items and buildings so it feels a bit less repetitive. I will always recommend mods like Automate, Self Service and Mail Service
I also found that a mod that lets you harvest with your Scythe is really time saving if you don't have Junimo huts, or have a lot planted inside your Greenhouse and refurbished shed
pet peeve: Mods being set to hidden with a reason of "reworking this"... like, just leave it up while you do so D:

Both of those portrait mods are made to match the vanilla game art, which is what SVE also does 🙂 So there's no mismatch if you use one of them
DSV is Vanilla style. Alternative portraits are for diversity and they're disabled by default
And they come with seasonal outfits

Ah, fair enough! Yeah, none of the anime mods are particularly complete, especially for seasonal outfits. Not to give you the hard sell though, but have you checked out the list of DSV's additional features? 😄 There's some neat stuff there like spouses wearing the mermaid pendant on their portraits and wearing pyjamas in the morning & evening, unique outfits for all of the festivals (Slightly Cuter only has 2), dynamic clothing for Shane that changes his style over his character arc, special outfits for particular times & places such as Harvey wearing a doctor's coat while he's in the clinic, a lot of cool stuff
I'm obviously biased 😛 But DSV has a lot more content to it and more stuff is being added in the future too
one day I'll get around to installing DSV 😂 But considering I had to uninstall SVO due to load times I'm kinda scared of it and might be waiting for the 1.5.5 update >.>;;;;

DSV is Diverse Stardew Valley, one of the mods Jay linked for you earlier, and SVO is Seasonal Villager Outfits, which is another seasonal outfits mod that's no longer available
Seasonal Villager Outfits didn't do much to the base sprites but gave everyone seasonal clothing. It's gone now, and it's stuff adopted into Diverse Stardew Valley, which also gives everyone new clothes plus gives a lot more racially diverse sprites
DSV made me get a moddrop account. Not sure what I think about that yet. 🤔 But it is pretty cool.

Hey! I'm having some trouble with the NPC Map Locations mod... It displays the npcs twice on the map, I don't know why. I thought it might be that it shows their houses or something, but for example, Halley is on the beach twice, while Elliot is together with her and at the pier at the same time according to the map... Any idea what this is?

Do you have SVE insatlled?
Do you have UI Info Suite? Turn it off in the settings (the lil hammer when you open your inventory)
also if you've updated it, not newly installed it, then try removing it completely and reinstalling from the zip. The folder structure may have changed
e.g. maybe like https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3943 (but I'd prefer it even more pastel, that one seems to largely just remove some saturation or make them darker)
Actually, common misconception there 😄 Probably 2/3rds of the outfits in SVO were created by the DSV team and were shared with SVO, but because of different update schedules (SVO updated bit by bit, DSV updated all in one go), SVO users saw the outfits before DSV users did

ToTT had like uh trenches you could dig, and if you watered one spot it would spread out from there along the trench. Also since fertilizer was something you placed down, the fertilizers effect also went along the trench

There actually is a mod that allows for more irrigation ("trenches"). Though I can't remember the name.

Mostly just stuff that makes farming more interesting... like more to do than plant->water->harvest (and don't even need to water if you use sprinklers ^^")
In Sakuna it's only rice, but you regulate the temperature of the water it's in and amount of water. You plant it (and sort the seeds/seedling before planting). Then care for it (and depending on which fertilizer you use and such it'll boost different stats). Then harvest it, let it dry, shred it, process it (if you want white rice instead of brown rice). It's fairly interesting and involved, though I know it can go that far because rice is the only thing you grow in it
But yeah, something that makes each crop not essentially just a reskin of each other and adds more interesting steps in tending to them
Might be interesting if some crop can only grow with certain fertilizer
Well you could always go for Farming Simulator or such but that's going to be a lot less cute (and still lacking in various departments)

The original SNES Harvest Moon is still one of my favourites because
- Seasons felt unique: Spring was single-harvest crops to get going, Summer was high-cash multi-harvest crops which took a long time to grow initially though, Autumn was to get Fodder for Winter, Winter was just to forage and care for animals
Later games added multi and single harvest crops to every single season (some even winter), making all the seasons feel a lot more same-y. Especially since nothing else was added to differentiate seasons much
Also fewer crops in general meant the crops felt more distinct (because you had like 2 single-harvest and 2 multi-harvest ones or something like that, not 15 of each). With more added crops they should've added more ways in which they differ - Big Harvest days were a big reward, but also mean you're likely going to spend all day on harvesting as you had to carry each crop to the shipping box individually. Meaning it also felt like you did something for the reward you get.

also the ability to clear your farm at night because the clock froze was kinda fun

Any idea why I had a json shuffle when I didnt add any new JA mods? Maybe when I updated love of cooking? Just had to trash a lot of stuff because it was all wonky

Just because a mod doesn't have an update specifically for the beta doesn't mean it needed one! Some do though, and some of them have unofficials, like PyTK, so I could see not knowing about those and having them wreck a whole mod list by not being loaded.

If they are JA items, and they have the exact same name, JA will throw a red wall of death of errors because it can't handle duplicates. The method you suggested of taking 1 file out is the correct way to deal with the conflict.
Rather, the entire folder for the item (say it's Broccoli, take the entire Broccoli folder out of 1 mod)

(One that is pretty cool about Deep Woods that isn't strictly relevant here is that it's not hard to add new set pieces or locations to it. No one has used it that way yet, though. I had an idea for it for a Halloween event a couple years ago but had trouble figure out how to trigger event in a Deep Woods level... and then the server event was long over while I was mucking around, hehe)

you're missing spacecore, and try uninstalling SVE and reinstalling to get rid of the tmx errors

you'd need to disable your mods (you can put a . in front of the Mods folder) or get them to download the mods if you wanna play modded
would it be enough to just move them out of the mods folder into a different folder?
or would I just have to disable them like you said, going to the browse files and putting a .
moving them out would work too as long as you keep the mods that came bundled with SMAPI (save backups, error handler and console commands)
OR
if you wanna straight up play vanilla without launching SMAPI
you can go into your Stardew folder and launch it from there

Hm, should I be worried about SVE and recolors wanting to load the same map error. Also seems this get glam thinks my hair is 415420 and crashes when I click rigth arrow a few times

if you're running big expansion mods like SVE, RSV or any mod that uses Custom Music, you're bound to wait a long time for the game to launch. its not something the SMAPI developer can fix
reimagined 2 isnt compatible with SVE as far as i know, and you most likely have two mods adding creme brulee
