Right now, she's using modified vanilla portraits to accomodate new emotions and stuff, but I'm considering adding an option for SVE's portraits, but as I personally don't use SVE, I can't guarantee compatibility with it

I have. I have some 163 mods installed and I spend like an hour figured this out. It's a bug in Get Glam. Disable it and your save files will stop showing up twice 🙂
Idk why you are having save file loading issues though, that may not be Get Glams fault, just the save file showing up twice part

I recently changed my UI zoom level from 100% to 85% and now a few of my mods are having display issues (specifically UI info suite, expanded storage, and NPC adventures.) Does anyone know how I can fix this? There was an error message in my SMAPI log about expanded storage that might be relevant, but no corresponding message for the other affected mods...
Generally, you need to make sure your UI and display zoom match.
It's a known problem-causer if they don't.

Press the U key to make sure that they're properly connected

I can see you're using Content Patcher Animations. It might be related to that mod. But, seeing as you don't have that many mods you can try fifty-fifty your mod list and see if you can identify the problem mod

I have deleted the mods that added animations (the animated fish mods), so Content Patcher Animayiona shouldn't be doing anything but I will disable it. I am running the SDV 64bit beta as previous help I'm received said 32bit can run I memory issues which can cause lag. I've Uninstalled various mods and deleted custom music that came with SDV Expanded. When my wife and I play on local co-op, it will stutter when one of us enters a house, then full on lag when we save and go to a new day, going so far as to go unresponsive for a moment then continuing. Our PC was built by us a month or so ago and can handle Planet Zoo on ultra graphics, so I'm a little puzzled
Ah I see, it might be a problem with the new beta as well, since there's been a few lagging problems. Not all mods have been updated for it and such, sadly enough
I would try the fifty-fifty method, however, just to see if you can't identify a problem mod that is causing the lag
Possibly! But the lag is definitely better than the non beta as it just straight up crashed due to lack of memory. I checked most of my mods should be current to use with the beta, or are in beta mode for the new version themselves haha. By 50-50 you just mean disable most mods to give it a go right?

Yes, I do. If you take out half your mods, and then test the half remaining. If the lag is gone, you know it's one of the mods you removed. If it's still there, you know that the mods you removed aren't causing it. Then you can continue the fifty-fifty method if need be

uhh, not a recolor mod but have you checked out visible fish? it makes the water look so much more lively
So after doing some 50/50 trial and error, if seems I get no lag if I disable SDV Expanded and the Immersive Farm rhat comes with it. I get a little lag if I keep them and disable most everything else. Seems I might just have to play without it for a while and hope it gets better. Ah well.
Hey, idk if it's OK to ask questions about a specific mod, but this one seems really commonly used so I'll shoot it and hope it's OK! UI info suite works great for me, except that the settings reset every time the game is closed/relaunched. Anyone know how to fix that?

I think the only thing it doesn't collect is truffles, as they're considered a forage item ( Affected by the foraging skills of having a chance to pick up doubles and all forage picked up being iridium ) . At least it didn't use to, it could've been changed

Hi everyone! I’m trying to look into modding and playing non-vanilla. I have downloaded some mods that I am loving but wanted to ask if there was any way I could disable these mods if I played multiplayer? I have a multiplayer save file I only play with my siblings and am worried my mods might mess up our game.

A few ways to do it. The simplest is to rename your mods folder by putting a . at the start if you're on Windows
On Mac you can just rename to something else, it will make a new blank mods folder when you start up the game but it doesn't hurt anything
(No mods will load)
Like I have "Mods (SVE)" for when I'm not playing on the multiplayer SVE, when I am playing that save I rename the folder to "Mods"

SMAPI looks for a folder called "Mods" (must be that exact name) and loads all the mods inside that folder
You can also uninstall/reinstall SMAPI in like 10s so I used to do that

Yeah it works in 1.5, but it may glitch out. I was playing it with multiplayer, both of us had it, I was the farmhand and every other load of the farm, my male farmer turned into a lady. It was.. weird
If you use GG for hairs, I do have a mod out that converts Ace's and Lumisteria's hairstyles to use nothing more than Content Patcher without replacing anything vanilla, and there's a mod resource that allows people to do the same with other hairstyles

@royal arrow that much I know. A lot of mods are Android compatible, but throw up errors, or don't work, like space core and json assets. So it must not be the latest version of those I can use.
Correct, Android has an older version of the game, thus an older version of SMAPI. This also means you need to use older versions of mods as well, since newer versions of the mods may rely on the latest version of the game and/or latest version of SMAPI

The android version of the game is before 1.5 (I want to say 1.4.X, I don't know the full number offhand) and the android version of SMAPI is 3.7.6. So you need mods that work with that version of the game and that version of SMAPI.
When you do try to launch "normally", what happens? Does the "golden chicken" reappear? Do things crash? Are you trying to launch on Windows from Steam, GOG, Mac, etc?

Nothing happens- I open through steam and it says there is an error and update (missing executive) so I go through the backdoor through gamefiles and click on stardewvalley.exe

I think from the way this went you didn't provide enough detail in your original question and felt I was answering more broadly than what you were looking for.
So the first 3 numbers listed for the Android version matches the 3 numbers for the equivalent version of SMAPI on PC. Since Android has 3.6.7.9 as current, which is SMAPI 3.6.7.

@lament prairie and @royal arrow for future reference if say the Android version, which is currently 3.6.7.9 means that's the port is of the PC's 3.6.7, if I'm getting this right. When people want to compare versions for Android that means the first 3 numbers for the Android version matches that version for Android, because SMAPI's official version is only 3 numbers long, instead of 4 like on Android.
I guess I'm a little confused why people would be looking for SMAPI version numbers.
Most mods don't critically matter which SMAPI version they're using, more so the game code
For mods that do require a specific version of SMAPI to work.
For those mods (outside of android), I cheerfully just delete the req from the manifest 😄
Some mods just won't work unless you meet the minimum SMAPI requirements.

If you care deeply about a CF pack, you can port to DGA, which is still getting a few bugs worked out as it's new, but seems to work better than CF for furniture (except things on tables, but that should be fixed eventually)

Well now I should be able to get my Sailor Moon mods back, or rather for the first time on my phone.
AT is simpler for mod authors, and the other benefit is it's so simple for players too. You get all the variety without having so many extra items in your shops or crafting menu.
I prefer extra items personally.
I guess for my tastes if something is a different object, I want it to be a different object
There are definitely scenarios I think AT works better for, but some I think do warrant making new things
For me it depends, like aesthetic variation I just want the simplicity of AT, but if it's something to promote interesting crafting or production then I want unique items
Like if you want to recolor the bedspread, I feel like AT is the way to go, but if you want a whole new style of bed like how the modern one is super different looking, I feel like it should be a new object
For another example, the bonsai tree decorations mod I made could have been an AT pack for the one existing bonsai plant, but it feels wrong to me to be able to "paint" a tree into a different type of tree, from a game immersion viewpoint
On the other hand, I definitely feel the struggle of too many new furniture items
I feel like AT can solve that by allowing mod authors to implement their own tools so that you get the variety AT offers, but using the mechanics that make sense for your mod
Like maybe for bonsai trees it's clippers or something
I still feel like clippers do not change maple trees into cherry trees 😛 , but alternative theming does sound cool

Okay, well I believe you downloaded it. Now it's just making sure that's the one you have installed. The best way to verify that is by completely deleting the old Content Patcher folder.

Hey, I am currently using an M1 Mac for Stardew Valley. I have a few mods that are freezing the game as soon as I open it. I was told in order to fix this I needed to either run SMAPI through Rosetta or upgrade to Stardew Valley 1.5.5 beta. I would like to run SMAPI through Rosetta but I'm not sure how to. Can anyone help me?
TBH the best experience on M1 has been for the beta. Rosetta should be automatic, but I believe you have to downgrade to an earlier SMAPI for that to work.
I have heard people say that rosetta wasn't enough and they had to switch to the beta. Unfortunately I'm not a Mac user so I couldn't walk you through the steps for that either way. The instructions on switching to the beta are here https://www.patreon.com/posts/55035968

Ah okay. Where I have no issues so far so my current mod list is good lmao. Before I would constantly get the never ending save screen. I had to download a save anywhere mod so I could save before sleeping, reload the game, sleep, and repeat. And it took like 10 mins to open the game again lol

I am playing Stardew Valley Expanded on my M1 Mac. The mods load up fine and I am able to play the game for a second before a "debugging" issue force quits the game. Here is my SMAPI log https://smapi.io/log/f8a844e2d08b4082a80f6c59dede4ef8 ...one of the errors that pop up in the SMAPI terminal says -Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries used by your application. ...I am very new to the SVE mod!
Mac and SVE troubles are beyond me, sorry. 😦 If no one pops up here, try the SVE server.

The only thing I know right know about those words together is that you might want to give updating to the 1.5.5 beta (and then updating to the latest SMAPI beta as well). Since it looks like SVE is all you have installed, you should be good as long as you pick up the unofficial PyTK and TMXL updates, aaaand the beta version of SVE on its page.
You can always keep those in a separate mods folder so you can revert back if it doesn't fix your issue.

I got a SIGSEV the other day when I opened NPC Locations, but it doesn't sound like that's likely your issue if it's only open for a second
Both SVE and RSV contain custom music and are a lot bigger than ES! I feel custom music pre loading is the main memory culprit. But I also dont tend to play more than 2 days at a time so whilst I can say I've never hit oom errors when playing without SVE I cannot be 100% sure it's only SVe (I also run dSV and visible fish and wild animals though).
Gotcha!! I had ES before and the NPCs are adorable. I just had too much in my game and had to restart so I wasn't sure which mods made my game crash. I played without SVE for awhile but it felt so plain
But yeh if you want special ordeeq you need the 2.0 version. It's now mostly tested though! (Not the lighthouse quartz order though I think that one is still in progress)
You could probably manage it (the OOM) with enough mods that added new locations and NPCs (especially large maps), since everything is in memory all the time, but SVE obviously does a ton of those, so it is very chonk in mod list 😄
And yeah I'd bet on music taking biggest chunk.

I just got so annoyed playing through a day and then it not saving so I just stopped playing for a bit until I gave up and took my mods out
I noticed it starts to lag and stutter badly and discovered if I go home and sleep when that happens I can sometimes save before the oom hits.
But one time I barely got out the door and it oomed.
Oooof. The OOM screen is like the blue screen of death on a computer 😂😂
It's so annoying.
I'm hopeful that when the 64 bit update is fully tested that I can use that and get all my big mods back

@nova swallow cosmetic (ie retextures) are generally ok if only one has, otherwise most will need both. Some mods like child to NPC wont work in multiplayer.

Mostly trying to find a little bit more inventory space (either a larger backpack or some way of making inventory a bit less stressful) and maybe a time dilation mod, to slow the days down a tiny bit.
Most of the time, if there is specific MP information to know about, the author will list it in the description.
(Even if it's just "untested in multiplayer" :P)
Most of my.npcs may be dubious in multiplayer as I do quite a bit of dynamic scheduling.

Is there a tutorial for how to make special order quests?
The format is documented here https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Special_orders. You'd use Content Patcher (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Content_Patcher) for editing, though I think it's often easiest to start with an example since CP is very powerful and can be overwhelming.
Lumi's special orders https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/7417 are split up into a bunch of include files (e.g. assets/LumiSpecialOrdersMiner.json has the special orders she's tagged as quests involving mining), so it might be confusing as an example, too, but it's something 😄
(You can open .json files in any text editor, even notepad, but something that can do syntax highlighting like VS Code, Notepad++, SublimeText, etc etc - pretty much any modern editor - will save you years of your life and probably some hair if you have some left to lose :P )

pretty sure theres a mod just called larger backpack that adds another backpack upgrade from pierre for 50k gold, its pretty balanced imo, just be warned when you buy it the museum gets a little bugged where your inventory will hide a row of items, you can still place them if you just click where its supposed to be
The best solution to inventory space is to go Joja and not worry about selling CC items 😄

I got reports that the files i uploaded can't be unpacked as they look like "a piece of paper"?
I downloaded them myself and had no problens but the reports get more and more frequent and i have no idea what causes it.
I think I had similar issues in like other games when the files are bigger and the download got interrupted

This is one of the reports i got but i can't really say anything, the nexus file preview looks normal the file when downloaded is normal aswell i have no plan what went wrong for them
Maybe its a problem unique to the person downloading the file. Like the person has shitty net. Another possible thing is that certain server regions in Nexus are locked behind the Nexus premium version. Like South East Asia. I had high instability when downloading mods before.

SDV base game is currently 32 bit and can only use max 4 gb of ram. You have to quit and save every few in game days if you use a lot of mods or heavy mods.
Will removing some of the mods help with this? Sorry, quite new to modding
It's fine no need to apologize. From my experience, yes. I used to use 90+ mods and could only last 3-4 in game days before my game crashes, when i reduced it to 60-70 I could play for 7 days max, I believe.

It saves you so much time. In multiplayer the clients don't need to have it downloaded, only the host. It won't work if only the client installs it and the host won't. And yes, it should be problem free.

Yup! I love using it in sheds. The location doesn't matter as long as an NPC won't cross paths with it, since from what I know they destroy everything in their path.

If you use a mushroom cave you can even use it there, just connect it using pathways. You can change what pathway you want to use in the config settings.

nvm, after some more playing around, turns out i had to download the latest version of smapi
which is strange, so i'm assuming vortex had me download an outdated one
I mean, take 4 different farm layouts during farm creation, then imagine if they're on the same save file, and you can access these farm maps walking with your character during the same save game just like leaving your farm to enter another, for example.
Vortex isn't recommended to use because it likes to do things like that, and it sometimes eats mod files

most impressively bad case of that i've seen was the person that had fourty-one manifests eaten by vortex...leaving them with eighteen mods loaded.

and then if it's a dependency of a bunch of things you get problems
i mean, 76/120 mods did work, so it might be stuff on my end outside of vortex
e.g. if it ate Content Patcher's manifest it can easily take out a lot of mods with just one eaten manifest

Basically I had a cutscene trigger for Aurora Vineyard, so the house interior got updates for me, but not my farmhand. She got the warp point in the basement but can't enter it from the house herself lmao

It's probably been updated 
that was a common problem in those few weeks of beta mayhem hell. pathoschild uses Mirror from Nexus on his moddrop account, and for some reason it saw these optional file beta versions and set them to Default version and did not let him change it, so everyone using the moddrop mod manager had a chunk of their mods, including Content Patcher, force-switched to the beta version - when the beta version didnt have back-compatibilty so they didn't work on the version the users actually had installed and people who weren't actively developing and testing mods for 1.5.5 were supposed to avoid the beta!
vortex was eating everyones manifests, moddrop was installing beta versions of things, and on top of that people were getting mixed up and manually installing the wrong versions all over the place

lenne, bo, afaik that actually is how "only works for hosts" manifests in the case of automate! iirc it's going to start giving exp etc to farmhands in 1.5.5 by remembering who placed which machine, but right now it runs on the host game only and runs its automation stuff like normal (checking all locations etc), and gives all exp to host and uses host professions etc

Is there any way to disable a mod without removing it? I know a mod I'd like to use currently doesn't work and getting a notification for an update would be nice (without using Vortex).

Vortex isn't so SMAPI-friendly and sometimes fails to remove old files while updating etc. Also it's not that hard to manage mods for SDV manually thanks to SMAPI, Content Patcher and more
Sure it's pretty easy and I'm currently just dong it manually. I'd prefer to keep it that way. I was just looking for an easy way to get an update notification. I know it works if it's tagged as incompatible by SMAPI (at least it looks like it) but was wondering if there is a "manual" option to get the same behavior.
Well guess I'll use that simple way to disable them and keep manual tabs them. Shouldn't be that hard.

I use the Re-Home mod for my farmhouse but recently the mod author set the mod to hidden on Nexus. Something to do with issues on mutliplayer. Im not playing on multiplayer, but after the 2nd house upgrade my game is extremely laggy while inside my house. If i delete the mod, will I have to delete my entire save file

idk if anyone can help me but i installed stardew valley extended and played just fine for a few hours but now when i try to open a saved world it isnt there and my back button is also gone. i also cannot start a new multiplayer world or anything but if i open stardew without the mods the saved worlds i had appeared. i put my smapi log into the parser and it said there were no errors and the same mods work for my friends
