PyTK broke in the last update.
Any mods that rely on it will also be broken. You can play stable
(Routine is not available for a lot of this month, so they'll be back at some point and see it, and/or someone will make an unofficial update. )

the beta stardew updated to add support for custom farm types and languages that do not replace existing things
so smapi had to update to support that

Owh well never mind, apparently the latest beta update broke a lot of essential mods
since 1.5.5 isn't officially released, you presumably had to go into Steam and say "please let me use the beta". Well you can go into Steam and tick the box again to have it revert to 1.5.4. And then everything will work again.
I would try the mod in 1.5 since not all mods NEED an update for them to work in the beta
Most of the mods in my game haven't had a beta update and still work fine it's stuff that needs pytk that died :<

Is there anyway for us to tick and untick mods so that they work when we want them too? I have older safe files and I'm worried about them breaking with the new mods. Also I'm not very computer savy, so I'm wary about moving too many folders around.

it is okay! but SMAPI 3.12.6 actually fixes that issue as long as you start a new save with it, which wasnt the case here unfortunately x.x

What's the problem exactly? Is the summit not accessible for you?
The summit is a 1.5 update per the wiki.
You would have to wait for mobile to update to that.
The summit could be accessed before 1.5 by mods - or by glitching out of bounds. But then you'd just see a bunch of messy tiles. (unless a Modder fixed it).

so ofc pyTK broke but my main question was that i could put in hair into stardew, since the Non hair resource was too hard for me, i just used GetGlam and made hair packs myself , which was so much easier and volia, i got the hair i wanted from the Naver site and put them in, only for personal use, i wouldnt share them as its not my mod

backup your saves just in case, uninstall stardew and download again from steam. after downloading it, open it at least once, close it and try installing smapi again

@wind elm Just a question. Is there any idea of an update for PYTK in the works? I have run into an error with a couple of mods and i went to Nexus to post and i am seeing other issues that are the same as mine but not addressed.
The question is: what in the new beta and smapi made pytk break? And is there a way for the dev of smapi to fix the issue on the smapi side instead of waiting for platonymous to update pytk?

I somewhat found a way to still use your beta save after 'downgrading' to non-beta. it requires some save file editing. and it throws out some error texts in the smapi log.
After loading the world I checked for anything missing etc. and it seemed fine. But the errors remained even after saving again
and idk if that has any long term consequences to the save file
you can just download the previous beta build using DepotDownloader and leave the save intact
The last time I talked to Routine, they were going to be unavailable for most of September, so I'm sure they'll see all the messages when they get back. Someone may or may not make an unofficial update in the meantime; please be patient and keep in mind it is a beta testing branch π

@flat silo Sorry for the delay! I can't reproduce that with the save you sent me though. What are the specific steps to cause it?
Here's what I tried:
- Launch the game.
- Set the language to German.
- Load your save.
- Warp to the community center using
debug warp commin the SMAPI console window. - Interact with the bundle tile. That shows the Junimo text and starts the wizard quest.
- Warp to the wizard tower using
debug warp wizardto see the event which lets me read Junimo text (and skipped the event). - Warp back to the community center using
debug warp comm. - Check the bundles.

But my steps are basically just launching the game, loading my save, walking to the community center, interacting with the bundle tile. that's where things break.

It's kind of annoying, because I was actually in the middle of a playthrough and I switched to 64 bit for the greater stability. Ironic that an update to the game would require an update to SMAPI and would break compatibility for several of my mods, but Steam is a complete butt about letting you control updates. I'm pretty sure even trying to revert one minor version would require going through the depot...

So while using mods my boyfriend and I were having server issues. While trying to fix it our farm was reset and we were sent back to day one of spring. We were able to keep our money and skill levels but everything else got erased. Not for sure what to do at this point we were a couple years in before it got deleted.

The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.

People on Nexus mods have been having issues even before September and have not been answered as of yet. I am still having issues with the PYTK mod
PyTK broke in last night's Stardew Valley 1.5.5 update, not the SMAPI update. Unfortunately it'll need to be updated for the latest game changes.
For the manifest question, you can set the minimum API version to 3.13.0-beta.
I'm not aware of any issue with that; I just tested it from a custom game path and it worked fine for me.
I will check out to the commits before your update yesterday and make my local build

I just updated to the beta Smapi and game last night, so I haven't yet checked my Smapi's log ( I'm just updating what I know needs updating, then I'll check ) , will do if it shows up there! Some people like to use managers, but SMAPI handles load order and can do multiple folders, etc, so I could not personally recommend them unless the person using them was also familiar with any tweaks they might need to make to account for the manager they are using. It's not a content update, but is updating to 64bit for game pass and adding some modder requests and bug fixing! Not all mods will be working at all times during beta testing, so if you're just starting out and want stuff to work, it's probably safest to stick with stable.
If you're having OOM issues, it's worth a shot. If you aren't, then it's fine to wait for the full release of it

If a modder created a mod that completely replaces the asset by Loading it, only one mod can ever load that asset. Anything else that tries will make them all fail. But edits can all live in harmony, and the last one to apply will win.

It depends on your tastes. I personally love modded crops, but others don't. Some love more artisan goods, some don't. As for balanced, some are, some aren't and are just there for fun, usually says so on their Nexus page

Yep, my example was just showing how a particular mod could trace its failure back to PyTK. "This requires a mod which requires a mod which requires PyTK."

If you look on the mod page, it breaks down a lot of the content being added. It's a very comphrensive add-on, so keep in mind that you'll often run into conflicts with mods that may want to edit the same areas, people, etc. And since it's both a huge mod to work on (for the authors) and a huge mod to keep track of (for other mod authors), it can be hard to keep compatibility going even when people make patches.
Remember the log parser and check for errors, and try to avoid adding like 100 mods in one go so it's easier to track it down if something goes wrong π

how did you turn the beta version off? I use steam to launch my game. I am looking at the guide provided and it is so complex that I don't even understand how to change back
its super easy. just right click stardew in steam, select properties, go to the mods tab and change it from monogame 64 to none

Such is the nature of the beta. May not be the last time mods break, but hopefully gives modders the chance to prepare before it is considered to be final.

I get it though. It's exciting to try out new things. Especially in this case where heave mod loadouts were causing OOM issues, and the update fixes that essentially.

That's for downgrading back to the non-beta. If you still want 64 bit, just yesterday's 64 bit which worked fine, then you have to go to the depot.

@sudden dirge I managed to get it working for me, at least to loading the 1.5.5 save: one thing you have to do is you have to completely REPLACE the folders by deleting and copying in the old versions, not just drag and drop into the directory

OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. yeah running 32 bit gave me OOM's like crazy but I am willing to try anything
yea...with a large mod list (especially if it contains expansion mods) OOMs are very likely to happen, so unless you're okay with only play 1-2 days at a time, exiting and relaunching, you can downgrade everything to 1.5.4 and SMAPI 3.12.6

That's really weird. Given key '62'? I'd recommend updating the mods you have that have available updates and seeing if that does anything for you. Or possibly even just verifying your game install through Steam on the off chance it's some kind of file corruption.

There's a reported error that causes something similar to what you're experiencing when you mouse over the golden scythe because it's not compatible with the 1.4 update to the game even.
You might try messaging EmpressKimi on Nexus. They're in the Posts on that mod saying they made an updated version
They didn't post it because they didn't hear from the original author, but maybe if you asked them they'd be willing to give you a copy of their personal setup for you to use.

Go to Pierre's shop, use the Shrine to Yoba on the right to assign spells
Assign the Analyze spell to your hotbar, then hold Q and press the corresponding number (1-4)

It's... not the most intuitive. The mod could use some TLC, but it's fairly fleshed out and an awesome proof of concept if nothing else.

what I did was i set up a "stardew backtrack" folder on my desktop and extracted the game and used SMAPI on that file directory, then put all my mods and my save in

ok, i reinstalled and its still saying the object is not object thing it said when the game updated
i think its a problem with the downgrading, not smapi
because its behaving the same as when the beta updated yesterday

im not sure. I just changed the version on steam properties of the game from none to the monogame64bit version

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley Is the path to 1.5.5 if you'd opt into the beta. Which is also the normal game directory

We're having a bit of a debate, like is it just the portrait, if the concept sounds good, do you get all NPCs, does it depend on where they live...?
Related, why did you choose (or not choose) to get SVE, RSV, ES, or any other expansion?
Order + you can add a dependency if you want to make sure one mods loads before another.
How would that work with other people's mods? Editing the Json documents?
personally I look at the portrait first and then consider what the npc would add to the gameplay. i wanted to add SVE and RSV primarily because of the addition to the storyline and new places to discover, but i would have gotten it if it was just the NPCs because the additional dialogue is exciting to me

not a lurker, but I usually only go for ones that have a "dcburger" style portrait version or an anime version that fits, i don't particularly like vanilla much, and i like having all portraits matching up otherwise it'll trigger my ocd and make me uninstall, and if i could i would chose all of the expansion mods cuz from my view they're all unique in their own aspect but i still don't know what causes hangs with my game so i'm kinda stuck in limbo rn, tho i never got far into any of those mods yet, to me NPCs are just a side thing compared to what those mods have to offer, new areas, items quest and whatnot
Ah, so if an expansion was able to advertise that it did not adversely affect lag (or not much), that would be a big selling point?

Honestly, yeah, but i feel like that'd be impossible cuz the lag from the game comes mostly from bad memory management and the endless amount of frameworks needed for most content mods(tho i don't know shit about how the game actually works, i just think Stardew is weird to consume 2.4gb to keep running when Fallout new vegas with 110+ mods take like 400mb and only got to 2gb after 2h of a session)
I should throw out my own reasoning: Before my current run where I threw caution to the win, I would only get NPCs if they were both well-written (needed screenshots of dialog + looking at mod desc) and the portrait fit in with vnailla plausibly okay.
yes i tend to lean closer to vanilla style but i'm open to all styles tbh. i just tend to download the more vanilla styles more. attractive, marry-able, unique, inclusive are all things I consider π
Lol, SVE is such a memory hog because of all the changes it makes to vanilla everything. Most other expansions aren't like that.

so for me... I have used SVE and I'm writing ES, ofc. So I'm biast towards this but I began very early in SVE, before they had custom NPCs (and had xnb replacements for maps). I got it because it promised MORE, and oh boy, did it have more! I triggered most of the events, met the first of the custom NPCs as they were added (Andy, Susan, Victor, Olivia) and was really enjoying it (although some of the mature events didn't sit well with me, specifically Shane's at the railroad and Krobus's (now removed). Some of the others, like Penny's and Haley's also felt a bit gratuitously dark and didn't add to the storyline. Then 1.4 happened and my game broke (due to my BFAV rabbits rather than SVE) and instead of waiting for BFAV to update, I went back to an older backup version. By the time I got back to feeling comfortable adding mods, SVE had had several updates and I felt overwhelmed by the whole thing.
That's a good point, I personally prefer smaller mods with just one or two NPCs.
I kind of had to be tricked into getting another expansion. XD
