You should find a Stardew Valley folder, go into it, there's another folder called Errorlogs
Drag the file inside of that, onto the Smapi log box on it's website

It means the mod isn't there to be loaded
it means you don't have cheats menu installed and that's why the menu isn't popping up

Flash posted another sneak peak of an SVE update he’s working on! I have 160 mods i absolutely can’t go without so if i have to buy a better pc to enjoy this update so be it!!
on the flipside i've installed mods to the wrong mods folders
as in, i install a bunch of celeste mods, and then some time later i get a problem with stardew valley and go parse my smapi log and find that in addition to information about the problem i actually notice, there's a bunch of "Skipped [Celeste mod] because it's not a SMAPI mod"

correct. the hardest part of stardew modding is the very first part: installing SMAPI
the rest is literally copy and paste. If you're downloading a friends mod list via a compressed archive, then the second hardest part comes into play: knowing the difference between "Extract To" and "Extract Here"
hi, my mods arent loading?? theyre installed, unzipped, in the mods folder, loaded through steam etc but it just takes me to vanilla game

vortex sometimes causes problems and there are beta spacecore versions out that only work on the beta stardew

has anyone gotten SMAPI to launch with Gamescope on linux?
SMAPI detaches from the terminal instance it was launched on so gamescope can't attach to it
wow, getting SMAPI to attach to the current terminal is, uhh, quirky
it only attaches to the current terminal as a fallback on linux for whatever reason, so i just forced the fallback to happen by modifying the included launch script
i think most people who want to do that use the Item Spawner mod, so they can search for things
also, i don't think console commands can safely spawn in, eg, iridium tools - but item spawner can
I updated smapi and the others mods that needed to be updated and nothing changed, and i reset the files and it also did nothing 😭

So uh my SMAPI is up to date, and worked fine last night/this morning, but now Vortex is saying I don't have it installed???

We heavily recommend not using Vortex or any mod manager
its probably vortex having/making problems
Vortex loves to eat files and mess up things around your mods

installing mod manually is super easy so
best do it yourself
maybe it updated smapi or stardew to the beta
I mean like once I get SMAPI reset, everything runs nice and smooth. But trying to get the initial boot up is just a pain. But now that I've got stuff downloaded I dunno if I trust myself to pull it all and then do it manually. The wiki was kinda hard to understand for me
it's actually really simple
download mod; open the .zip or .rar or .7z that it's in; remove the folder inside the .zip; move that folder into the Mods folder; done
SMAPI handles all load order stuff

Vortex is known to cause a lot of issues in mods, and its bound to break it some more, not justthe SMAPI thing
it really is just as simple as downloading the mod, unzipping it and placing it in your mods folder!
e.g. if you're installing a mod named Demanding Shipping, you'll click Manual Download and get a zip named something like DemandingShipping-7315-1-1-1-16097410.zip
open it and it contains this:
and you drag that folder into the Mods folder inside your Stardew Valley folder
So I should slog through and do an uninstall then try and manually plop stuff where they should go?? I've only ever done Minecraft mods which goes through Overwolf & CurseForge, so doing things manually is kinda complicated to me for some reason

Unfortunately while other games rely on mod managers heavily but stardew is best to do yourself
it's tedious work but I promise once you start it'll only take like 10 minutes tops!
from then its just updating when you need which takes a minute
i don't use vortex, but i think you just launch stardew via steam (after setting your launch options) or from the SMAPI exe in the Stardew Valley folder

smapi 3.13 is for the official 64 bit beta version of the game (and smapi doesn't support the unofficial 64 bit beta since 3.12.6 i think)

They will not corrupt your files and they are necessary!
It is very hard to corrupt your save file nowadays
so, what are the necessary things included there in order to play Expanded mod? Content patcher, expanded preconditions utility, json assets, SMAPI, Spacecore, and winter grass?
All of them
You need all of them to run it. It is why they are additonal files required.
You could probably run it without farm type manager but you will get no forage on some maps.
Without tmxl toolkit and pytk it will not work.

Winter grass likewise you could remove and it will still run but the grass outside the farm will die and never regrow.

Hello! At first I thought I was downloading my mods wrong but it just seems like mods are not working for me at all. I can not load any mods.

I think you need to update some of those mods and make sure you don't download the beta version
Sxynix is using the betas.
Download the ones that dont say "beta" on them. There should be multiples in the files page.

oh chewpakka if you're on mac - which doesnt need launch options - there's a known bug and an in-testing SMAPI installer change to fix it

yeah, the most likely kind of TMXL error you got is the one with a couple of possible causes but the shared result of an error every frame
I updated some mods but I think I messed up somewhere or just the process overall

you may need to update them, but if you needed to update them there's a good chance they wouldn't have worked with the current stardew version anyways

most likely cause: you ran 3.13 installer but had stardew 1.5.4, or you ran smapi 3.12.6 installer but have stardew 1.5.5 (the beta)

You're thinking updating should be very complicated or fancy, but it really is as simple as deleting the old files and adding the new.
Smapi is a very smart program. It knows how to handle things and keep your saves safe.
After all, if updating caused saves to be deleted, don't you think we'd have a lot of eople in here complaining about it?

Starting to sound like the opening of Barkleys on Broadway here.
Also like Cal mentioned, updating a mod by itself is just about always very safe & easy and won't break your save, but if you'd like to use a lot of mods and things breaking is a concern, I'd really recommend against using SVE. It has a very bad habit of breaking other mods when it updates because it changes things frequently and doesn't really watch out for what other mods are doing
One the other hand, if you just want to install one mod (plus like 10 dependency mods... 😄 ) SVE's a good choice.

SVE's def worth playing once, just to see what the fuss is all about.
most of the mods I installed are the ones that makes sdv more alive. Such as animations, npc dialogue expansion, part of the community, more interactions with pets and childrens XD

If you like immersive mods, I'd like to suggest checking out Diverse Stardew Valley! 😄 (which in the interest of fairness is partly my mod, haha). It adds unique seasonal & festival outfits for all the characters, plus a lot of other neat features
(I'm too busy refreshing my latest mod stats to search anything)
If you don't want to use the diversity edits of the characters, you can configure the mod to use the vanilla character designs
(I swear, if this inexplicably does better than the pumpkins...)

That's fair 😄 Although we tried to keep quite close to the vanilla artstyle and feel of the characters, so I'd recommend having a look through the readme since it has pictures of all the configuration options available. Each character can be configured separately, so it might be that you really like one or two of the diversity designs and decide to use those but keep the rest of the characters the same as vanilla

I know it's telling me to update some of the other mods I have installed, but the only reason I'm not doing that is because those updates are for the newest beta version of the game, and they're optional (as posted on nexus). If I really need to update something to fix portraits, I will, but if it's a mod that has nothing to do with that, I'm keeping as is, cause everything should be already updated! Thanks~

Nope! Vortex can cause issues similar to what you're having, hence my asking. It appears you have a bunch of empty folders, which is why they're not working
You also seem to be installing xnb mods, which are a big no-no. Make sure you're only trying to install CP (content patcher) mods
@hoary musk If you open the manifest.json file for eXpanded Storage (Automate), you can remove the version field on the Automate dependency. It should work with the previous version too.

It says they're empty folders, but when I go into the files, there's a bunch of png files that should replace the portraits of the game. I'm just not sure where they should exactly go or if I should be replacing any files for them. I'll look and remove any xnb stuff I find, though I tried my best not to install them in the first place

I usually go to Nexus and find the mod I want and click Files, then Manual Download. It gives me the zipped folder, which I extract and then put the folder into my Mods folder
My path is as follows:
Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Stardew Valley > Mods > Mods (I have a subfolder named Mods because I wanted to separate the actual mods from the ConsoleCommands folder, etc.)
So far, I haven't replaced anything or deleted any folders for the base game, I've just placed everything in my mods folder and that seems to work
I just don't know how to organize the portraits so the game shows them correctly
I should mention that some of the portraits work, and some don't. Like for example Harvey's anime portrait shows but there's glitched glasses and a mustache in some parts of the day. I think there's also an alternate Leah portrait I have installed, but it doesn't show ingame so I'm not sure where that's supposed to go
I'd be weary of doing that! As far as I know, some mods don't do well with being nested extra layers within your mods folder
However, that aside
Could you go into your mods folders, go into the Anime portrait folder and take a screenshot of that?

As long as you don't have extremely long folder names, I've seen no issues with nesting folders, and I've nested as deep as three before without realizing it, and Smapi didn't care
You can't install xnb mods by just dragging them into your mods folders
you'd have to go into the game files, DELETE game files and replace them by XNB mods
it's why they are not recommended, as they're not compatible with other mods
Depends on the mods, a lot of old XNB mods have been converted into CP, look on the Nexus page under the "posts" tab, and if there's a CP version, someone will likely have linked it
and can break and delete necessary stuff for your game
Or you can make a CP version of it yourself

I know there are two issues that I need DGA to fix

They aren't sold in the right store, everything is listed in the Adventurer's Guild, and the crafting recipe doesn't draw the whole object, it's cuts off the botom
I did notice the cut off for the mega storage mod last night.

Also, something did come to mind, I do have it configured for chests to have 6 rows instead 3 but it's only showing 3
It'll show as much as it needs depending on how big the chest is. Did you make the chest bigger as well?
So if you want it to use 6, you need the capacity to be at least 72
I'm primarily using Magic Chest which default to -1 but I still shows 3 for some reason

my problem is i got my farming recipes all the way up to 8 but for some reason didnt get them at level 9 so i have no seed maker recipe and no iridium sprinkler recipe

i dont see how wemod would stop me getting my recipes, i've never used the cheat for skills, only energy and health and fishing

CJB Cheats is recommended because it's supported by the creator of stardew modding
The thing sounds sketchy. I'd just use Smapi and normal mods, as CA has been working directly with the maker of Smapi so.. you know it's safe

I have a 1 yr old Lenovo yoga not a gaming pc and SVE with a few other mods has lag occasionally
What's the specs are your computer?
The safe way to delete an expansion mod is to make sure you're not carrying any items they add I think
Thing is the game keeps every location/NPC in memory, so the more you add the more it has to do
In Windows, go to Settings > System >About
SVE is also massive in terms of average Stardew mods, so it and adding other larger mods is going to make load times longer and have the potential for more lag

Sorry for the late reply! 😅 It's not possible, sorry - the hairstyles change to match the appropriate occasion. Some of them will be getting a revamp soon, but if you know your way around an art program, you're welcome to edit the hairstyles for personal use only.
The beta is about as stable as the current release version of the game, but there's no guarantee that a game you start now will still work by the time it releases if anything major is changed
But as far as mod compatibility, most mods still work on the beta or have been updated already for it

@worthy moth downloaded the update and the Magic Chest still reverts to a normal chest. When I'm holding its a Magic Chest but as soon as I set it down that's when it reverts
ok quick expalnation. wemod is a mod app you load up. then you load the game you want to use it on. once game is loaded, you hit play on the app.
i've used it for any number of steam and gog games and never had any issues
But it's not like launching the game regular or using SMAPI, it does it's own thing that no one here can explain

The game's code can be delicate at times, it's really easy for things to break it. And the only thing you're doing to the game at this point is running it through WeMod.

my mouse isnt very sensitive and i have to mash it sometimes to get a response. not ideal for the minigame

when i tried unzipping it, there was no mods folder so i created a new folder in the exact location
