I'm personally gonna edit Hot Pam to have the new sprites LfL gives her and use that as a replacement, since I'm also using talkohlooeys' Portraits' Hot Pam portrait

Fixed my SVE errors. Turns out the 1.3 beta the dev sent me was missing CustomMusic, CustomNPCExclusions and CustomNPCfixes that they likely assumed I already had from the prior version

There's two options now, as I recall. If you still aren't friends with marlon by y2 and get to the bottom of the mines he gives it to you out of pity

I'm using talkohlooeys' portraits as a point of reference for this, which also uses high res portraits
And there's literally nothing different about what talkohlooeys' is doing
I'm convinced it's because of Gunther specifically
Because in vanilla he only has 1 portrait, with only 1 emotion, so it might be reacting weirdly

It couldn't have a rescale problem, anyway if you rescale the images to the needed size 60x60
It could throw up other stuff, maybe, but not rescale
just name the new portraits whatever the current ones are and substitute them. Rename the existing portraits something else so as to keep them handy & forget all the coding
What is the count on the existing portraits? 8? 12? Take your wanted portraits and copy/paste what you have to make up the right number.
While not as elegant as using pytk to rescale, this is a tried and tru method of changing them... I have done it myself on various occasions
It depends, actually. Not all NPCs have the same number of portraits.
You can definitely just copy-paste the same portrait in multiple spots and have that work though. ๐
Could also go the portraiture route depending on the level of effort you wish to put in :p
I see there you are trying to change an SVE portrait? In case you don't know, Gunther in SVE has 2 portrait: "Gunther" which only has one picture like in the vanilla game and "GuntherSilvian" which has the extended portrait sheet. From what I can tell you are trying to edit the "Gunther" portrait with "GuntherSilvian" and that might be the problem?

The Gunther.pytk.json is supposed to "scale up" the format
And thus, allow portraits bigger than vanilla ones
The problem is, because the image has more than one portrait, for whatever reason, PyTK can't scale it up horizontally

I downloaded some mods via Nexus but it screwed up the game on my Mac and put things in the wrong place. Is this just a Mac issue because my friend did it on the asus monitor and it worked fine. Iโm thinking it is just a Mac issue

If you're using something like Vortex, sometimes it messes up. You can just download manually and unzip mods into your Mod folder quite easily

I downloaded the 64bit mod via Steam. Can I just click the "play" button in steam and it should work? Because its still launching the 32bit version
Unless it doesn't update in task manager
change the steam file path to the 64 bit exe
remember the command you had to copy into steam when you installed smapi? change that path to the 64 bit location

it downloaded to a different storage device than my main game
should be something like this C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_413150\depot_413153
run the SMAPI 3.10 installer again
and when it asks that, input the path with content\app_413150\blablalba
then you should get a stardewModdingAPI.exe there
Make sure you have run the 64bit installer before installing smapi

hello, i haven't really used mods before in any game and just got some for stardew. they look like they're pretty much working... but i downloaded the victorian interior mod and i believe followed the directions correctly for picking the bed color i wanted... the furniture file worked it looks like, but when i started up the game in a brand new save, my bed is just... gone lol. anyone know what i did wrong? i was wondering if maybe the mod won't work yet because my house isn't upgraded yet and i think the mod is for a double bed? the interior itself also didn't change. i've just got victorian table and stuff. any info would be appreciated

12.21.2020, not 12.23. 12.21 was the SDV 1.5 release date, and until 1.5 comes to Android that is the date you want to watch for when downloading mods.

If you installed that over top of an existing save then the stuff that's "wrong" probably isn't wrong, it's just where you had it on the old map lines up differently on the new one. I did the same thing on my game and used NoClip and Destroyable Bushes to clean things up.
and content patcher (CP) and Custom Furniture (CF) mods that are older probably will work anyway

Correct, any mod dated prior to 12.21.2020 should work on Android, provided the older mods were also compatible with 1.4 to start with and that it's not a XNB mod. @crystal sphinx
Going the other way, if you're on PC you want to look to see if there's an update on or after 12.21.2020, or if it's an XNB mod look for an unofficial conversion on the forums if one isn't available on the Nexus.

There are all sorts of hair mods, but the colour, saturation, and brightness can all be manipulated in Vanilla.

I found a newer mod that does the same thing as vibrant hair, we're using CP and SMAPI, not xnb! <3

Just unpacked an old xnb & edited the png files then formattedit for gg
Problem is that there are tons of old XNBs on the nexus that the OG authors never took down, and in most cases don't even have a warning on the description page, most of us here know well enough to check the files, but a lot of people asking for recs are probably new, and new modders sometimes tend to install first, break things, then have trouble. As much as I like helping people fix things, I'd rather they didn't need fixing if it can be avoided

Maybe not, but there are over 100k people in this server, that's a lot of potential lurkers. All we can do is try to get them accurate info and hopefully set them right if they do get into trouble. Mostly @jade forge make sure you both have the same mods, past that it's the same as playing a vanilla mp game, start it through the mp menu then either invite them or have them join off your steam friends depending on your privacy settings.

I've installed the prerequisite mods, and Smapi seems to load it on startup, I can't work it out! Does it matter that I installed the mod during an existing playthrough?

like put a . in front of its name
or put a . in front of a specific mod
to disable only that mod
Or make a second mods folder (probably by duplicating your current one) and name it Mods2, and rename it to Mods when you want to use that set.
Smapi only cares about the folder named "Mods" when you load.

SVE feels like an actual vanilla game expansion
i read the wiki a bit and the characters felt a bit cheesy
it's pretty good, i like the custom NPCs
