We could probably create a mod that effects the length of time each crops growth rates but it would be messy and difficult to include anything beside the vanilla crops for starters
sorry for asking again, but would anyone happen to know how to get mines music working with custom music? i have it formatted the same way as regular music; the regular music works, mines music does not. it just plays the default songs
it wouldnt take much to make things take 1.5 or 2 time longer and just as long then after to reproduce if its a crop that does
@vale bluff Might be me but is there a different audio for the mines and maybe cavern is used for the skull cavern levels
the point is to make a bunch of seedmakers. You only get like 1-3 seeds per crop so you need to grow them (normally starting with only a few mixed seeds), then turn them all into seeds, then grow them again, then seedmaker them again, etc... So it really slows down the profit curve

is there a way to assign a custom music to a map.. all the mine maps are looked at as underground. that way your forcing music on the maps instead of replacing the music?

that was another thing I was going to ask about. Are there any mods that encourage you to grow a bigger variety of crops? Even with the Seed Shortage mod, I'm still going to end up trying to max out whichever single type of plant has the biggest profit margin.
I understand you running custom music mod with a content pack... but is there a way to tell custom music to use the music on a specific map

does the unlimited players mod still work? we have it installed, and it's added the extra cabins, but our extra players don't get presented with slots to join...
the only thing that helps me with this is whatever CC bundle mod I'm using o.o
it does, but folks have had issues with multiplayer lately

i dont know of any mods that encourage that, but Im a collector at heart so I do it automatically... I still think you need to rely on luck of the draw for the first two years at least in regards to if you get profitable crops fom your mixed seeds
@vale bluff you'd probly need to know what all the mine level maps are called
plus you can adjust the better mixed seeds drop rate to make more profitable crops more rare
then find a way to use the line

as far as we can tell, we're all connected to the matchmaking server - everyone can join, just the extra players can't create a farmer

Yup, that's what the Steam launch options do
you might need to go into the game folder and send a shortcut to your desktop... or configure steam to run the proper file
@stable anchor I have a question about Lucikiel. Would he clash with the Flower Dance mod that changes how the farmer dances? I just want to make sure since I don't know all that mod really touches.
The mod description for Flower Dance says it uses code specifically to edit the farmer animations, so I don't think it'd have compatibility issues with anything unless another mod edits the same code

@vagrant topaz make sure you extract the file you download to get to the mod folder and put that in the mod folder not the file you download. with winzip or winrar or similar
I tried both the CJB cheat menu and item mods, and when those didnβt work I tried the NPC location map one and none work at all

when you download a mod it comes in one archive file that contains everything. you need to extract that folder.

That is the location of your Steam install, right?
also just to highlight what we've learned so far: the reason you're not seeing the mods in game is because the game is launching vanilla and not through SMAPI

Through the Steam launch options. I would reinstall SMAPI (I know, I'm sorry) and copy-paste the green text that it says to copy-paste, exactly, and put that into your Steam launch options

Oh lol if your keyboard has a Print Screen button (PrtScr) you can use that. I personally use Windows key + Shift + S as my go-to shortcut

@steep pewter Actually sorry nevermind, you're trying to use a mod made for 1.5 on 1.4. Pretty sure that's why it isn't working. In the future, you should just be using mods made before Jan 2021.

Maybe you can erase them entirely and copy-paste the correct string into there. There may be a stray space or something

ah oki, based on the log, I think you unpacked the files too much. So for NPC Map Locations, you'd need the NPCMapLocations folder, and inside it, the things SMAPI is mentioning

Okay yes I never refixed the mods before sending you the log, I tried removing the files from their respective folders and into the main mods folder to see if that was the issue as i know sometimes having too many subfolders creates issues! I will clean that up and play around again and if need be, get back to you! Otherwise thank you (all who contributed) again for all of the help!!!

as for the too many subfolders thing, you're right but SMAPI is coolio and as long as the mod is in a folder and has a manifest.json, SMAPI's got it. You could potentially even have some nested mods, as long as the file/folder path doesn't get too long. For example:

Would work fine, because each mod is packaged in its own folder. As long as all the folders have reasonably short names, all will be well

I'd be dubious. It would have to be rigorously tested and come recommend by the community before I stopped managing manually, it's easy enough for me.
I'd trust Mod Organizer more than about anything else I've seen (it is what I use for Skyrim), but I'll likely stick to manual for this anyway.

Yes there are issues, you'll need Destroyable Bushes and Noclip Mode

you had to put like hardwood iron bars and batteries to start it up and then it acted like a spare shed/greenhouse..
You needed upgrade tools to even get it, but then it had its own little questline. It should still be there.
Which farm are you using?
@grand haven there is a mention that the quest was changed, but it shouldn't affect the shed if it has already been completed, no mention of moving it anywhere

is the closed off gate the normal state before you start the quest? maybe the quest reset though it wasn't supposed to

Since you're using mountain farm, and not either Grandpa's Farm or IF2R, you shouldn't have that south path at all nor Grandpa's Shed I'm fairly certain, since you're using a vanilla map. If you had them before, it could've been a bug in SVE that they fixed.
it's with other maps too, it patches the entrance to it on bus stop map
i just redownloaded the immersive farm and its back but everything that was in there is gone. if anyone had a vanilla farm, be mindful with the latest update if you store anything in there
hello guys I need some help, I have been trying to install ModDrop because I heard it is a good mod manager, but it gives me an error each time... "The ModDrop Service isn't running."
I have tried doing the fixes suggested in the FAQ on their site but nothing...
Are there any good alternatives? Or do you guys know a fix?
Vortex is usually to go to mod manager as far as I know. (I donβt know a lot lol)
not really recommended for SDV, it can have problems. the best way is manual install

i've heard that moddrop is the best choice if you're going for a manager
yea the recommendation usually goes manual install > ModDrop > Vortex
It wont work and the support discord server for it is inactive af
because Vortex is extra wonky with SDV
so guess I'll just handle it manually
unfortunately I think a lot of us here are manual install folks (I am too), so it can be tough to get help with mod managers

I was able to get the 1.5 items to show up again by switching coii's clothing from CP to JA, but the mod items are still messed up. Any idea on how I could fix that? I truly have no clue lol

actually I think it has a second one that enables when IF2R is present if im reading oasis greenhouse's content.json right
anyways, i looked into it, and it looks like marrying a custom npc as a farmhand may or may still crash the game

yeah :/ im not all that familiar with the dos and do nots so i wasnt aware that i shouldnt have saved. i hadnt had issues with those items until maybe a day or two ago and its only their appearance that is messed up. they still function correctly

Couldn't you just disable the custom farmhouse in the IF2 config?
otherwise, if you have a portrait called (npc)_Beach , it'll show up on the pelican town beach, and not the new island area

Stardew is a 32-bit game, and therefore can only ever access 4 GBs of memory. Otherwise, a lot of us would never see memory errors.

That sounds normal. You don't unlock the benefits of a new skill level until you go to sleep, and the game reviews all skill increase and their benefits at that point, one level at a time.
Like every night it's like "level 6 mining, level 4 farming, etc." But every. Single. Night. The same ones.
The next night: level 6 mining, level 4 farming, etc.
And I think it's some glitch but idk how to fix it. I don't wanna go through 20 of them each night

I'm trying to track a mod i have which forces "mariner" skill on my character every morning. There's no mention of it in the logs, but i get the skill every day. I can try to get rid of it by either editing my save or with the CJBB cheat menu. I have completely different fishing skills and don't want mariner. Trash is useful. Any idea how to debug this?

either 1) whew - 3.9.2 didn't cause new crashes.
or - 2) ah damn, still haven't fixed the OOM.
(The changes in 3.9.2 should reduce OOMs, but won't fully eliminate them since it seems to be a memory leak, possibly in PyTK or SpaceCore.)
Probably @onyx nebula should get pytk up to date next then?
(Once some larger mods like SVE or Ridgeside migrate most map loading to Content Patcher, we can run some tests to see if it still happens without PyTK.)

You don't necessarily need to uninstall. It is a contributing factor but if you go in the mods content.json and change the preload to false it'll fix the worst of it.

Victor's room specially is what seems to be causing issues, should be safe to remove the rooms but a bunch of mods rely on TMXL

Download, delete the old folders from "mods" and put the new folders in.
It's always best practice to delete the old folders when updating and the like.

Did you update SMAPI, and install Content Patcher? Those were the main issues.
content patcher is installed in that log, but it needs an updated smapi

by my standards of compatibility, these are all compatible. there might be some who share a festival location, or a saloon spot on friday, though.
i know lucikiel shares a spot with sheila in the saloon, and while i love luci, he is a bit on the anime side XD
andy from sve walks into isla in the egg festival, and kim is in a flower pot in the same festival making her inaccessible (as well, most of her dialogue is "hi", so feel free to not download her. i'm keeping her for the sweet wine recipe she gives, since lucikiel is a massive sweet tooth so i just add it to his gift tastes XD )
there are likely a few other shared spots, but those are the ones that stick in my mind
and sasuke, while not anime, is an npc you download to want a character you want to punch in the face. so he's also an acquired taste XD

btw, there's a list of all possible keybinds out there, but not a list of which mod has claimed which keybind, unfortunately. that's managed by players via a mod's config file. and they usually can't be changed while a game is running, even in generic mod config menu. they have to be changed in each config file >.>

yup, put cjb cheats files in a folder just named cjb cheats. same for skip fishing minigame
and whatever the third mod is, that needs to go in a folder, too

The error you're getting is telling you the assets and i18n directories in your Mods directory aren't mods, themselves. Is there a manifest.json or some such sitting in your Mods directory (or could we get a screenshot of that directory)?
I have not officially started the game due to mods and testing and debugging, and work and studies. Like I always delay the day when I begin the game and enjoy

hm when i open them in stardew modding api they don't show ingaem
just downloaded SMAPI, and I cant get it to through steam (I copy pasted the run to properties) but I can just press the starter and it works

@static crane Hmm. according to the log though those 2 mods are working but smapi says it is seeing other files or folders in the mods folder that it doesn't know how to open or what they are. This usually happens if files of folders get separated form their manifest file. Your mods folder should basically just have folders in it... If you mod folder has loose files in it they likely aren't suppose to be there and the mod they belong to like doesn't work. Are you trying to run any other mods beside those two? Your mods folder should have folders for those two mods, as well as 3 others that smapi installs

you need to remove the assetsf folder and the i18n folder they are the reason for the red errors
Was the custom npc married from SVE?
they must still be there from when things werent right... also do they belong to one of the other mods?

@rustic marsh I don't know for certain it's the same issue, but for SVE farmhands marrying its custom NPCs causes crashes as you describe, and I'm not sure if that's SVE specific or a general issue with farmhands marrying custom NPCs in multiplayer. :/
