Its like Minecraft; the vanilla community is big, but modded. You opened the flood gates.
I've been modding for a long time, I just didn't think there were that many mods for Stardew, but then again there are tons of weird mods. I have mods for almost all my games
a lot of mods just need the framework/dependency mods to be updated, and then they're all updated. as for compatibility, modders generally do their best to track it. and it also depends on what the mod adds/changes.
I don't have mods except for minecraft and sdv, thats the only games I really play a lot of on my computer.
Do you happen to know what the mod is that changes the legs? I looked around and I’ve seen some different mods but I can’t seem to find the one for the legs and stuff. Sorry to bug you ^^
I only mod SDV. I'm primarily a console gamer in general.
so, with json assets updated, suddenly all modded items are updated. and ppja chocolate is named chocolate in objectdata, so other people who are essentially adding chocolate go for milk chocolate or sweet chocolate. boom, compatibility.
I'm pretty happy with the mods I have now. It almost feels like it has a "Theme" to it, instead of just installing random mods. My games feels basically like Stardew Valley 2, with new items, NPCs, locations and features that fit very well with the game
Have to say, walk to desert mod pairs very nicely with murderdrone.

Those are 2 mods I don't use. Nothing against them, I just haven't looked into them

i've done the mines far far too many times the "right" way over the years; i have zero qualms about automating the mines now XD
the pelican town mines do get repetitive after like the 15th play through >.>
I love the new horse overhaul mod. It's great! I haven't played SDV in a few days so I don't know how the new visible saddlebag feature works with custom horses though. The author just added that a day or two ago
For the player not the nps, the one that makes the legs for the female a little thin and the shoes/feet don’t stick out as much
Thats the feature I was questioning. If it works with custom horses then I might get it
i mean, they get repetitive after the first play through with the layouts of levels 1-40 being repeated twice, but at some point recently i just couldn't deal with the repetition any more >.>

It looks like it just adds the saddlebag image, not the horse itself, so I assume it should work OK with custom horses. I'd be curious though if there's clipping issues if somebody uses a fatter than normal custom horse image

Krobus lives in the sewers in town
My lair is literally one wall away from the front door.
He doesn't live in the desert. That's just where you get the pendant that lets him move in with you
You donate a certain number of items to the museum and Gunther gives you the key to the sewers so you can go say hi
Lair. I like that. I think I need to call my office in my house my lair.

I really don't get it tbh. There's like a million context clues in the mod that point to marlon having the key now, and people still miss it
yeah they changed the Jas and Vincent looking at the sewer scene and they blatantly say Marlon has it

Not a fan of Amazon necessarily, but I wonder if Nexus would be better if it ran on Amazon's AWS. Or just use some other web service that can handle traffic and is up most of the time. 
Don't think so. I think they just use Cloudflare's DDoS/web security services
Cloudflare's services are certainly up more than Nexus is anyways
Thing is Nexus has a perfectly fine CDN so direct links to mods should be good, it's the server for the site that is always down
They probably need a lighter stack, and a more distributed architecture

Naver is teaching me that I really, really need to learn how to convert XNB mods to CP mods for personal use. So many good XNB mods there. Argh!
If you can learn how, I've got a few older xnb maps I want to learn how to convert.
It's actually one of the first things I learned. There's two steps : 1) unpack xnb, 2) create a basic content.json and manifest.json (easier than it sounds)

I will read up on it. There's now several XNB mods I would like to convert. They are all Korean mods so I unfortunately can't communicate enough to get permission to release on Nexus or anything, but at least I could make personal mods to learn so I can make my own original mods later

Luca - don't know very much about modding yet but I think a good first place to start would be to check out MissCoriel's NPC Creator. It's a tool (not a mod) up on Nexus. She has made tutorial videos and such to go along with it. I plan to use this as a basis to start learning when I try to do a custom NPC

Dear god what happened with teh Train Station mod. The train sound effect won't stop and it plays another one everytime I travel on it

i think im gonna make him the jukebox from friday-sunday instead :0 but i would like to give him some dialogue too, any guides on something like that and does the tool also work for that?
Yep! I haven't tried to use it yet for making anything but I downloaded the tool and looked at it. It helps you with lots of things - dialog, gift tastes, schedules, etc

That happened to me when I installed the aquarium, but then I reinstalled both and it worked fine.
the wiki documentation on everything is super detailed but reading it alone won't make sense until you actually start to edit/create

I wish I could remember what it was... somebody several days ago was talking about a conflict with train station and something else that causes that to happen. I can't remember what the conflict was

I'm assuming it's related to a bug for some mod you have. I don't have any problems exiting the saloon and I don't have No Transitions installed. But you're the only person I've seen bring up that problem too, so haven't seen if other people fixed it and how

invalid tilesheet reference. well, tilesheets are the maps so it makes sense you're having that problem. but WHAT is causing it and WHY I don't know.

yeah, since the people who are good at digging into code don't seem to be around, I think that's probably the fastest way you're going to narrow down the problem at this point. good luck! and please report back if you figure out what you think might be the culprit. I'm generally here a decent bit so I like to keep track of problems to help others if they run into the same thing

reminds me of the error I got when I updated stardew aquarium and didn't realize a tilesheet was added as a requirement, so I didn't have it installed

Even More Recipes has a Smores recipe and Chocolatier has a s'mores bonbon recipe. Maybe that will help.

Yikes, I haven't visited the Aquarium yet so I'll look out for that issue
the Train Station + No Transitions bug I saw mentioned on the Nexus bug tab for both No Transitions and Train Station. Gervig was one of the people who mentioned it there in particular, so since he's a modder I'd trust his thoughts more than a regular user who may or may not know what's going on. I saw this talked about here on this channel before too
Not sure about the interaction with it for multiplayer part though. Hadn't seen anyone before Leviathan mention it

Don't think it will cause any problems. It's not listed as a requirement and you can use the Seasonal Outfits for SVE without SVO. This just seems like the diverse version of Seasonal Outfits for SVE basically

My best guess is that there's some redundant files in a folder somewhere from when I did a massive update and shifted stuff around. Or maybe load order?

I can't. The art isn't mine. I took it from a Korean mod on Naver and they have no redistribution policies.
But I do have some other things I'm going to put together that doesn't require art, since I can't really art.
I'm just proud I got SMAPI + the game to work with it.
It's just a CP mod replacing the ghost monster with some other art. Very simple. My "Hello World" equivalent

@fringe lodge when you reinstall the crops, delete the old mod and then put in again. dont simply replace files. i know at least one person had an issue when they just replaced

yeah I want to do mechanics AND a dialog mod for the 10 vanilla dateable characters. I'm very new to modding (just made my first demo mod today) but looking at other dialog mods, this seems very doable for me.
and cherry's code is open source, so you could even reference it
Thanks for the link to that. Figuring out how to make the mechanics work felt like the biggest headache. With Cherry's code, the hardest part is writing the dialog. But I've been writing fiction for fun for a long time. I can do it.

Glad people are interested in the idea. I would do it where you can enable the friendship relationships that you want in the config, and then everyone who is set to false would be dateable like normal and have the normal dialog/events

i feel like ive seen some people complain about the invite code thing, so it might not be a specific mod issue
@verbal steppe Multiplayer seems dodgy right now, sometimes it'll work with mods, sometimes it won't. I've seen multiple people have it not working, then after a restart or two magically fixes itself
My CC bundles have changed in the Craft Room - but I've removed all my mods, at least i think. Any way to figure out what might be causing that?

Typically pulling mods after creating a save breaks it, so IF it was mod related, you're kind of stuck.
I don't specifically know about the new bundles for 1.5, as I use community center bundles overhaul.
So... yeah, might just want to make a new save if you want the regular content back.

hi everyone, i’m having a glitch on my farm (every type of farm, i tested them all) where whenever i enter the farm cave and i try to leave, my farmer disappears and i can’t get out. it also happens when i try to go to marnie’s farm from my farm, i glitch out in the pathway and my farmer disappears. does anyone know what could cause this? i wasn’t getting any errors in smapi so i’m really confused.
i don’t have any crazy mods or anything, just sve and the required mods for it, as well as some hair and clothing + dialogue expansion + seasonal villager outfits and whatnot.

i gave her my mod folder (i helped her fix a few things) so we could play together (she's on mac) and some of the mods are just crashing for some reason (even after the fix)

yeah i looked at that list and there are a few in the list, but when you click on them they've been updated for content patcher and I can't seem to find the old versions or anything

Mods from a previous version CAN work, but usually that involves downloading the source code, recompiling with the latest version of SMAPI, and then giving it a test run (essentially making an unofficial version of it).
Uh I don't think I'm allowed to talk about it...it's a certain type of plant which I'm pretty sure would be treated as talk about drugs. My friend and I want to play it for the joke lol

But commonly, mods from a previous version 1.4, for instance, may work, or they get skipped by SMAPI because SMAPI detects it is incompatible.
And if there is an open source version on github or something, it would be possible to recompile it with the latest version of SMAPI and it may be functional.
BUT, it wouldn't work with any of the newer 1.5 features.

And if it had bugs before that were not fixed, those would still be present.

Ok. I was able to track down the mod in question.
And from what I can tell you.... it more than likely isn't possible.
Not without a complete rewrite.
The mod is an .xnb mod.
And only xnb.
Your best bet to even see if it is possible, would be to get a SMAPI compatible xnb loader, and hope for the best.
But xnb mods DO carry risks.
xnb mods have fallen heavily out of favor, and it is preferential to use content patcher mods instead.
It is a mod that doesn't even show up in the compatibility log for SMAPI.

Yeah, visual mods typically affect only what you see (skins, for instance), and would have to be on everyone's mod lists to see them.
Skins are typically client side, instead of server side.
(Not that this game, actually has a server side set up)

static bushes and such can't be moved
you can move buildings, but those bushes wont change
also trees, and any debris is you have any will be out of place

i shouldve went for the beach one
nowadays, we have the destroyable bushes mod, and noclip mod. so that helps a lot. however, get lookup anything as well, and if lookup tells you it's a bush it can be destroyed. if lookup doesn't bring up a page about it, though, then it's not a bush in game files, it's purely decorative and non-passable tiles.
so there's still some bushes that can't be destroyed because they aren't classified as bushes in game files >.>
i just dont really advise changing any maps mid save
well i count mid save anywhere from like,, mid spring onwards, since i tend to get alot of things done in spring

Hi. I recently re-did my mods and everything and got it all working properly, but my house has some weird problems I was hoping someone could help me with.
If I go to sleep in the glitched bed, it doesn't save/end day. I can't seem to break or pick it up either. Luckily, the other bed works. I was wondering if anyone knew a method to get rid of the glitched bed.

That's what I do when I update mods, well I also copy the current mod folder just to be safe
I thought about backing up the save game and then just going to sleep as soon as I load in just to see if it would progress to the next day

For further information, but I can only presume you've seen this as well, the index in the list is going out of range, so something's not counting right.
I have been running out of memory of late when working on a high res graphics upscale. I'm using CP and PyTK and have scaled all the graphics by 4x. I was running out of memory on season change. Each time the season would change... Not dropping previous patched info out of memory properly I think. With this Alpha version I didn't run out of memory until the third season change. So I believe this version of SMAPI is on it way to working out some of these issue. Here's my log in case it's helpful.

Complete... I just loaded my game then used smapi codes to change the date and go to bed to trigger season changes... This was when I have been running out of memory... I can do the same thing with developer mode on and get a better picture for you

I only have 6gig of ram, upgraded from 4 because it wasn't cutting it.. The mod take the base game running at about 700-800meg upto around 3.5gig after loading up
I'm confused because the content packs you're using don't show up in the list of 'installed mods'
It's only scaled up tilesheets and there not that big, but once you start to place hundreds of tiles on any given map or the entire set of maps, it really adds up quickly
It's one large content pack called 4x XBRZ
I created it myself by combining my favorite recolors and such into 1 mod... Took a lot of time editing the files in photoshop. That way I wasn't patching individual pics into the tilesheets, instead just loading the tilesheet. This helped with my memory issues to a limited extent.

Only the necessary need to make it function. CP and PyTK. I'm sure if I had more memory the issue might go away, but I think it would still run out of memory it would just take longer. The system is capable of loading and running, and it's not until it has to drop patches and apply new ones that the memory leak seams to be happening
At the beginning of the day it's loading all the maps into memory... All the maps.... and then when season change happens and the game needs to switch maps from say fall_outdoorsTileSheet to winter_outdoorsTileSheet... SMAPI doesn't seam to remove the fall tilesheet completely from memory (I'm guessing) It's then loading the fall tilesheet into the memory that's left. Probably doing something like this until it runs out of memory.
Mod contains 717 png files Covering Animals, Buildings, Charactures, Fonts, Maps, Minigames, Portraits, TerrainFeatures, and TilesSheets. Almost every file possible. I was trying to recreate for myself the smooth cleaned up feel that the mod SpriteMaster achieves. It's currently broken though as of Game 1.5. It uses XBRZ on the fly to do graphics mods... I download the XBRZ scale tool and manually scaled up all the files. Each is accompanied by a PICTURENAME.pytk.json file which tells PyTK what the scale of the image is... in my case it's 4. such as BabyBlue Chicken.png & BabyBlue Chicken.pytk.json

I didn't need to use custom furniture because I copied and pasted the images directly into the actual furniture file. Then loading the whole edited file, as appose to just patching in the furniture.
Pretty sure doing that can cause things to break

I tried initially to just scale up the graphics in these mods and allow all the patches to happen... This caused me to run out of memory before even getting loaded up, I had to reduce the number of patches being applied so my best option was to combine all the changes into a few patches as possible. This has helped with the total memory usage. But still having issues of course
Sorry to ramble on, just sharing my experiences in hopes that others can benefit from my failures and successes
hmm i'm not really sure if cp is the likely culprit for the oom issues here but ah well..
I started using this basic scale up option to add HD Portraitures via CP. This allow Custom NPC's to have multiple HD portraits. (Seasonal) Portraiture Mod doesn't allow for that. I then when over board and did all the character sprites then that snowballed out to all the other graphics 🙂
The more files I scaled up the more memory used. It's a game based on tiles after all 🙂 It's not so much the memory needed to run the game that seams to be the issue though, its after the game has already patched everything, then needs to repatch everything again due to condition change... in my case it's a new season... I can play in one season for days on end without running out of memory.
Also its usually at the begin of the new day that the error happens, this allows my save to not get corrupted. so basically at the beginning of a new month, I just have to exit the game, then relaunch SMAPI and reload my game and continue to play
That's a very interesting setup you've got there. Have you shared it with Pathos yet? This looks like the most controlled setup we have for memory issues yet. You've reduced all the conditions down to just a few possibilities.
One of the challenges with prescribing a cause to these issues was too many factors at play
I tried to reduce everything I could.. The scientist in me said to eliminate the variables
I'd be will to share the mod with Devs but that's about it.. I don't have permissions otherwise. I be more than willing to upload it though to the appropriate people if it would help.
If reloading assets is what seems to cause the leak, perhaps it's not releasing loaded assets somewhere. It could even be something that SDV 1.5 caused, but doesn't become a problem because the vanilla game doesn't have to worry about switching between different versions of things as much.

I'd say it's worth mentioning. I can't speak for him, but I can see value in what you've done
At the very least, there may be multiple causes, but you've narrowed it down to essentially either CP or PyTK

Smapi log would help for troubleshooting. I'm no expert on that but I'm sure others could help you if you provide one

I think one thing Pathos was hoping for was for SVE to be ported to CP to help narrow things down

i'm wondering if the cause might be the PyTK scaling rather than CP itself? afaik there was a suspected memory leak in PyTK
This is one of those things that contributes to the greater good since memory issues have been plaguing many users since SDV 1.5

unfortunately SVE won't be able to be fully CP because it relies on PyTK features, and i think some TMXL ones too?

Hmm, I am probably not gonna be the biggest help as far as reading a SMAPI but, but something I immediately notice is that there are a lot of mods that it’s flagging that need to be updated. It could be possible that one of the mods you’re playing with broke after a more recent SDV update and that’s what’s causing the incompatibility and save corruption, but as to which one that you need to either update or remove if that’s the case ... I would leave it to someone who may be better equipped to help you

Is there a way to get a “while-game-is-running” log on Android to see what exactly is happening when you try to load a save and it stays stuck on the black screen?
You might have to just collect up the files that report json errors and run it through https://smapi.io/json to fix them
If your in a split screen multiplayer game put screen=1 after the debug code... that will effect the second user instead of the host.
using screen=0 will effect the host

i'm really not sure what's going on in the inner workings of the mod. it just seems to me the con needs to actively take content packs into account, rather than it being a simple framework that can handle content packs made for it? i really don't know >.>

its pretty new so no ones said anything about something like this
the screen=0 and 1 options are great for debug warp codes. If your in multiplayer split screen the host usually has keyboard support for entering console commands but the Farmhands are stuck with game pad only.. I found myself in this exact situation and had to ask Pathos how to make SMAPI do what I was asking. That's how I found out. sometimes the second user will get screen=2 for what ever reason but it usually 1
