Lookup, Tractor, CP, Data Layers, Automate... I also updated ES at the same time.
I don't use it (I tried but got rid of it because it seemed buggy) but there's someone talking on the posts tab about how some of the events are bugged because it doesn't support newer versions of Content Patcher. There's a person that said they managed to fix it and go into some details of how, but not really enough unfortunately
They specifically mentioned Marnie, Pam, and Sandy as having buggy events

Having an issue with the "A Winter Mystery" quest (for the magnifying glass). Can't get the cutscene to trigger to start the quest. Have tried entering the Bus Stop from the Farm (a modded farm layout) during Winter while both snowing and not snowing. No cutscene. Any help?
#vanilla-tech-support recommended seeing if there was a possible mod conflict that was impacting things, hence why I'm here. Nothing is showing up in the SMAPI console that's relevant.
I still recommend sharing your log, since it provides a lot of useful info for troubleshooting

You might want to look into Stardew Valley Expanded and/or Ridgeside Village for the changing the game part. They are big expansion-style mods and add new areas and new NPCs. I don't think there's any good post-marriage dialog mods for Abigail (just pre-marriage really) but you can try this to see if it helps https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5117

I think what we really need is a good place for Android users to ask for help and help each other. I just feel so lost in trying to help the Android users since different platform and different requirements (some mods don't work, others need outdated versions)

And currently the solution is usually "use an older version of the mod, and know that some just won't work because they're for a later version of the game"

Windows 10 is large address aware by default. Software like that would only help you if you have an older version of Windows that doesn't have it. What large address aware means is that SDV will get to use the entire 3-4GB of RAM. Operating system and other software RAM usage won't take away from the 3-4GB.

@wide arch oops, i didn't realize you are on mac apparently, not sure if pngcrush works on it. assuming it does, if you want to remove the profiles you can do something like find . -iname '*.png' -execdir pngcrush -ow -rem allb '{}' \; in the Mods folder (and only there preferably). probably not worth it though unless the amount of warnings get too much

I will save you guys the over 30 minute long technical lecture I received about this , but basically because SDV is a 32-bit game there is nothing you can do to allocate more RAM to it. The only way it would work is if Concerned Ape converted the game into a 64-bit version.
All video games that use more than 3-4GB of RAM are 64-bit software

Pssst if the festival positions are provided by TMXL, they're typically a separate folder entirely, like [TMXL] Festival Locations o: or does this particular NPC have them lumped together into 1 TMXL folder?
and I'm guessing that's a big no?

As noted, no matter how much RAM you have, SDV can only use about 3.5 GB
He most likely wouldn't because it would take a lot of work and SDV is now over 5 years old. CA has mentioned another game he has started working on and would probably want to focus on that. Also, if he converted to 64-bit, some devices would no longer be able to run the game unless he had both a 32-bit and a 64-bit version. The processor in your computer is what controls what you are able to run. If you have an older or cheaper device, it probably doesn't have a processor that supports 64-bit

What I found most success in was disabling preload for SVE's custom music.

start with custom music packs yeah, either remove them or disable preload

I need to make a good quote file for this, but go into the CM folder for SVE, then content.json, then change all the lines that say "Preload": true to "Preload": false

You need to do that for every song on that content.json
you can modify the content.json of the mod, add "Preload": false to every track
if it doesn't already have that
The music will still play when it is needed, but it will then only be loaded into RAM when it's needed. Not sitting in RAM the entire time you're playing SDV and wasting memory

The NPC's folder has a content.json in the [TMX] folder probably.
Inside of that is a line that defines the festival positions
You don't need to worry about that for RSV. Our friendly neighborhood Obamoose and Raf kindly already changed it to false for all of their tracks, so it is now kind for memory usage.

removing SVE's music pack prevents other parts of it from loading, or at least that used to be the case (manifest dependencies)

so just turning all preoloads to false would be better?
i think the stability problems only happen when selecting the non-preloaded ogg file in a radio or something

Yes, I would suggest just setting it to false. It's not really that big of a deal even when they play. The reason it causes OOM is because ALL of those tracks are sitting in memory the entire time. Which honestly makes no sense for these tracks because they are not used all the time. For video game coding you really should only ever have audio sitting in memory if it's used a lot

Best example I can think of - if you're playing a Mario game. The "boing" jump sound is worth having in memory because it's constantly used

Well changing the SVE seasonal to false ended up working for me! It works perfectly fine in the other seasons tho, thanks for the help!!
Now for the Piano Valley question, I'm not using that but I downloaded it to check just now. Those are also set to preload true. So if you have that AND SVE, that could be contributing. I would suggest trying to setting that to preload false for it as well.

That's fine. Preload to false doesn't mean it won't play it. It means that it only loads up the music when it needs it

But that pinned SMAPI DOES help prevent it for the next time. My wife's computer was getting those OoM errors, and it did fix it for her.
But she did have to redo the whole day (which she did A LOT for)
In her case, she completed two community center bundles.
@opal shell deluxe autograbber is the mod probably. the foraging function wasn't localized when i used it, it grabbed everything on every map. don't know if it has been changed
And she had to redo those again (on top of completing the bone fragment quest). 😐

one thing i'm quickly learning is that a stardew day is only meant to go for 13mins, not 3 hours XD so i'll be saving a lot more. i do need to slow down to have enough content to get past summer year 2 >.>
just download the 10+ npcs and many different map addons and youll have infite content
also, that's one thing heavily modded fallout new vegas has over heavily modded stardew: you can save every two minutes in nv
and try to marry them all

smapi is the mod loading program, so only launch through smapi if you want mods. launch normal stardew if you want vanilla.

Sadly it is an XNB mod with a SMAPI component, so it's not recommended because it's less compatible with other mods, and may have issues that are hard to troubleshoot. We have a list of recommended alternatives here

Problem with some of the dialog "CP" mods is they are secretly XNB, by being wrapped with CP but just loading the XNB files

yeah Shaved Ice is great! it's even better now that they removed having tons of mandatory dependencies
if a CP mod uses a load to target native files it's not really a question of whether the file is xnb or not, but if it's up to date with the current version of the game
but yeah, it does mean that it isn't done in the best way for a dialog mod at least
I just try to follow best practices for my mod usage and I seem to have very few problems because of it. I don't use any mods with XNB files. I avoid adding or removing JA mods in the middle of a save file. Got rid of all mods that use QuestFramework (I never had any issues but there wasn't many). I have gotten rid of TMXL festival data for custom NPCs that haven't updated to use CP for that yet.
Maybe I'm more paranoid than I need to be, but like I said - I have very few issues using these rules

but the thing to note is that xnb files themselves aren't a problem. you can load a json or a png file just as well as an xnb
xnb files are only a problem when they are used to replace game files

To be fair, unpacking files is relatively painless, but it is an extra step
And, TBH, those rules of mine are good in one way - it does mean that there's certain mods I can't have if I follow my rules. I've got too many mods. Restrictions are good. 
Meanwhile, going from 450 mods to 412 was like pulling teeth for me

Maybe
It was either Vanilla Expanded Storage (which needed an update) or MegaStorage for ES (which I deleted). One of those two was causing the problem as Item Spawner works fine now.
So no problems with the updated Vanilla Expanded Storage?

Glad you figured it out! Wonder what the clash was? I do have minor weirdness that is caused by either Expanded Storage or Vanilla Expanded Storage, but it's not game breaking
When I turn in something to the museum and get a reward, I can't always click on the reward to take it. I sometimes have to exit out of the conversation and try again. Sometimes I even have to leave the museum and come back. I'm always able to take the reward in the end, but it can be a bit fiddly
I've noticed when I donate something the inventory screen is all messed up

i just reworked my folder by starting to use vortex, but when i open SDV.api smapi only finds 3 mods

I don't think there's a specific list. Safe bet is to just use the same mods.

Yeah, looking at the Nexus page, it seems like the older bunch, Marnie, Lewis, and Willy ( Unsure if Pam is included, there's no actual list of NPCs affected ) are included in the mod, then the Wizard has his own romance mod which is linked in the description
It's just a matter of it it's compatible with 1.5, or if it has an unofficial patch if it's not

Updated everything, but there are a few invisible items in my chests, there's all 3 possibilities: invisible items with their proper name (dried salmonberry), not invisible items but named ??? Hello! I just switched from mac to pc and have started re-adding my mods. On Mac, smapi always opened a window where I saw all the mods loading in. I don't see this happening in pc, am I doing something wrong?

I have a weird bug regarding Artisanal Soda Makers. If the person doesn't go straight for the multiplayer farm after opening the game, they always get different items than mine, and it's always some kind of Soda from the mod. Like, I'll be holding a Violet, person will see me holding a Watermelon Soda.
Restarting the game always fixes it

if you don't change your mods in between the shuffling happening, you should go to space's server, install the json assets beta, load the game to check if your problem is fixed. If it's not fixed type ja_unfix in the SMAPI console, then check to see if your items are fixed. If they're correct, then play the day normally, save, and make sure that the next day loads completely (get past 6:00 am) and close the game/continue playing
you want to extract the files from the zips and then take the zips out :3

I've tried installing and reinstalling both custmmusic and stardewvalleyexpanded, but its giving me the error "CustomMusic.Mod Threw an Exception", and it disables stardew valley expanded as a result since SVE is reliant on that mod. any idea on what i could do?

if youre downloading both custom music and SVE separately then thats the issue, because the sve mod already comes with custom music

hey all, I have a question about the order in which SMAPI loads Content Patcher mods. I was under the impression that I could change the filename of the actual folder so they sort differently, and that would change the order SMAPI loads them - but when smapi shows them in the log screen, they're in alphabetical order by the name in the manifest.json
do I need to change the name in every manifest.json for the CP mods I want to customize the load order of, or does folder renaming actually do what I want despite the log showing a different order?

I found this on reddit: "(Mods load after all their dependencies load, but aside from that are in alphabetical order, so a mod starting with Z will all other things being equal load after a mod starting with Q.)" but it doesn't specify whether it's alphabetical based on folder name, or based on manifest name. I suppose it's safer to assume manifest name though 🤔
It's alphabetical by folder path (so a/z_mod will load before z/mod for example). That's an implementation detail though, it's not documented and there's no guarantee it'll always work that way.

You can check the TRACE messages in the log file, that'll show the actual order as they're loaded. The mod list shown after loading is sorted by mod name, not load order.

hey so i removed the harder cc bundles mod cause i only use them when i'm playing with SVE but my community center is still like this?
i removed it before i unlocked the CC btw
idk if there's a fix for this but in 1.5 some bundle data is baked into the save, so you may be stuck with it for that save
Mod debugging question: Has anyone experienced an issue where the fishing data (fish availability by season/time/location/weather) is missing? I tried fishing with my current mod loadout and the only thing I catch is garbage. Checked in the collections (using Lookup Anything) and most pre-1.5 vanilla fish locations are removed (Pufferfish are only available on the island, legendaries, mine fish, desert fish etc are still there, but the normal ocean, river, lake, etc fish are gone.
Looking at the log file, I'm guessing it's the SVE warns/errors about fish and unhandled exceptions for Data/FishPondData #7 and Data/FishPondData #1 - but I have very little practical SV modding experience, so I'm just guessing?

im having a hard time installing a reskin for sprites, it's compatible with SVE and the install instructions say i should be prompted to replace files when I install the mod into the mod folder... but I'm not? and when i load SMAPI i get the error "two content packs want to load (name of file), neither will be applied. you hould remove one of the content packs". what should i do?

Are you trying to put it in the generic mod folder, or the one for the mod...

I've never used this mod but most mods have configs that are a lot more straight forward, or at least explain how to use it. Sorry about that! If you want to try using it I would suggest raising the number for the minMonsterChance section. That would presumably mean higher chances of monsters showing up.
You'll just have to play around with it and see what numbers you like. If it were me maybe I'd try 0.005 just as a start to see how it changed things
