uhh not really, besides new features. I think there's a PatchMode thing now for doing visual overlays? Like you can set it to "Overlay" and it puts your image over whats already there, unlike Replace

maybe the portrait you're editing got some new frames added

Im playing in a modded multiplayer game and so far everything has been working no issues but for some reason we cant upgrade the coop. in game robin will come "build" the coop but then the coop never upgrades. and when we tried to manually build a coop via debug it crashes and the log says that it cant find the .xnb file for the coop despite it being in the folder. im just stumped

So it was the first horse, but I renamed that one in the offical files, however the summon horse somehow duplicated it and swapped the names or something, so the wild horse got the name instead and I could not change that one
was this in singleplayer or multi?
Also while we're on bugs for Adopt N Skin, one of the adopted cats replaced my first cat on my character screen π¦

I'm running into a problem with playing with any mods, pretty much. Right now, I'm trying to play with SVE Grandpa's Farm and some quality of life mods. I got the game to load, played through the first 10 days with no issues, saved, and exited. Came back a few irl days later and the save no longer loads. SMAPI loads up the game, no errors detected, everything updated, but it stops trying to load stuff up with the mods after ~5 minutes. I tested it with a brand new save and got the same issue. Save won't load if I make it past the first day.
The log here cuts off at 0112, but I was waiting around until 0120 before I force closed the program.

For some reason, the game has been taking a really long time to load. It does load eventually, but for some reason, an insanely large amount of time.

I use both. Haven't had any problems as far as I know. There are 3 levels of upgrades for the Greenhouse Sprinklers, and both upgrades work fine within the greenhouse. (Haven't tested it on the farm itself for underground sprinklers yet though)

is there a mod that adds minecart on the farm? (like above the default bin location preferably) I dont like going to the bus stop.
extended minecarts, but it doesn't play well with mods that alter the desert, the beach, the secret woods or the area around the wizard's tower

There are quite a few mods that add in Minecarts, but they never connect to the main minecart sytem.
For instance, Ridgeside added in a minecart, but it only connects to other minecarts within its own mod.
I haven't seen minecarts actually integrated with vanilla's minecarts in A LONG time.
Its tricky from what I hear.
I think it'd involve a .xnb edit to the main game files...
Which is risky business and potentially game breaking.
I do miss when I had that functionality.

I installed the Stardew Valley Expanded mod, and every time I try to open Smapi, it loads until the end but then closes. does anyone know how to solve?
There aren't any listed errors, so I'd guess it's crashing due to running out of memory or some unhandled issue with the Android SMAPI port/the SDV port/etc.
I'd recommend just trimming down the number of mods, especially some that load a lot of textures or maps (e.g. cosmetic Content Patcher stuff). SVO and SVE are both pretty big and the total mod count is high, so you might need to compromise somewhere.
You also have 56 mods that need updating so I'd try that too

Large mods don't mean large as in size, it means large as in what it adds. Stardew Expanded is an example of that, it adds a lot to the game.

the memory usage of custom music mods can be reduced by setting the Preload option to false in the music pack
then it should only keep the music in memory once it has been played
with .ogg files that apparently causes some stability issues though

you can just put a chest next to silo full of hay and use automate mod to have "bigger silo"
follow your heart. ||both routes kinda do the same thing but with different aesthetic/story/atmosphere/characters.|| so it really is about if you vibe with the junimos, or morris more. hmm, perhaps wait until you've figured out where you stand with morris before putting anything in to the cc/buying a joja membership.

ugh i realize one of my mods must be messing with the rewards from the special quests. i've done several of them now and i haven't received the blueprint for the ||fiber seed|| or the ||mini-shipping bin||

divide and conquer. move half your mods elsewhere, then test the half remaining. if the special quests are still bugged, you know it's in that half. if they aren't bugged, the culprit is in the other half.
continue until you narrow it down that way

i just used paint, 'cos i'm too much of a jim to figure out a fancier art program (even if it'd make the job easier XD )

well its just like the zip files of mods, but it is possible to put your mods in seperate folders if you use different mods for different saves or if you use certain mods on a multiplayer farm, other than that there really isnt a point in putting the mods in your mod folder in new folders

Ye aseprite is a life changer. It was so much easier to merge hat mods and hair mods with it. The main feature of the layers is possible with lots of programs though, so the alignment sheet is there (paint.net is free and works very well).
Aseprite is also just extra cool because as long as the images are zoomed at the same level, it'll copy-paste to the same spot on the new image π±

let me check, also the teaxtures overlapping are almost all of them, but the ones in the room is the plant, bed, tv, rug, picture, and kitchen set

I tried adding my log to receive help but it says my log request entity is too large
"[ERROR Automate] Something went wrong processing machines" is the error that keeps occurring
well i think automate might have had something go wrong processing machines if i must say so myself
i've had that happen with error items. like, a ja shuffle gave me ??? honey and i tried to put it in a keg.
It happens when I start up my game
its never happened to me so i couldnt say, but something mightve been switched in a ja shuffle and confused the machine like they said
could that happen?? like if you have an item going it just switch what you put in and the machine be like huh what
if it's just that one error that keeps repeating, you could open your log in a text editor and remove the repeats at what i assume is the end of the log. and then see about parsing it.
i guess. i haven't had that happen myself. i use indoor beehouses, and my indoor beehouses will happily give me ??? honey

hmm, sometimes things can get kinda baked into a save even after removing the offending mod. i don't have experience in removing recolours/furniture sets, but it did happen for me when i tried to switch cc bundle mods, even before i unlocked the cc.

If there isn't a config for it, you'd have to edit the content.json to specify coordinates so it doesn't replace the kitchen, which isn't too difficult but can be tedious.

Hi, I have SVE and Iβm interested in uninstalling it and continuing on the same save file. Iβm using grandpaβs farm though, which does not work without SVE. Does anyone know what will happen to my farm if I uninstall it? Do I have to keep SVE for this save file? Thank you.
If Grandpa's Farm doesn't work without SVE, as you said, then ye, you'll need to keep SVE to keep Grandpa's Farm.

You may get bushes / trees / debris in incorrect places is all. You can pick up Noclip Mode and Destroyable Bushes to axe those down
And if your crops are in the wrong place, Crop Transplant Mod will also help move them
But your save won't break 
Side note, the uninstall instructions mention Reset Terrain Features but it's broken in 1.5, so that's why I mentioned Destroyable Bushes
i've heard entoarox framework as alternative to handle bushes as well. Though I haven't use them myself

This has happened to me several times. A tile framework didnβt load correctly for me, I think because it timed out, and simply finished the day and relaunched and the fish were back
Somehow that problem I had with the shed quest manifest for Immersive Farm 2 fixed itself. Weird.

Running Stardew Valley without using SMAPI will deactivate your mods, yes, but they will still remain in your mods folder. I just recommend not playing on your modded save while on vanilla to avoid save corruption.

Uninstalling SMAPI altogether is a different story, although I still think you keep your mods folder.
But you just canβt use SMAPI until you reinstall it.
i was determined my first playthrough would be vanilla. i caved on an easy fishing mod, so i've never played fully vanilla. i now have 601 mods. (a process of years)

The worse part about having a lot of mods is to have to update them all when a new core update releases.

my first playthrough was before the training rod even existed. when it came out, i was already using autofish. as well, i suspect i have medical-issue related stiffness that, among other things, makes stardew fishing harder for me >.> so i'm not sure the training rod would do much when it doesn't effect fish behaviour.

for me, it's mainly what would count for quick time events in stardew (so fishing, and some combat), rather than too much clicking overall. (too much clicking is an annoyance that i can live without, but also something i can do)
Ye I didn't realize it until WFH began in earnest back in March last year, but I spend a ton of hours on computers, so I got an ergonomic keyboard and mouse, plus those mods that reduce the amount of clicks needed, were surprisingly helpful at reducing hand / wrist discomfort. Although I should also just take breaks lol (and use proper posture)

Doesn't really answer the question, but it's possible for any mod to add additional dialogue to NPCs rather than replace one of the two they have by default. In Helpful Spouses (one of my old mods) I add a third dialogue to spouses.
Full transparency - this mod is not well-supported. I'm due to rewrite/re-release it, but haven't had the time
It's just weird to talk to my husband in the morning and then I physically cannot exchange any words throughout the day or in the evening lol
the marriage dialogue system can have different dialogue on different times of day / locations, but probably doesn't happen every day
did a complete clean reinstall of game and mods and that seems to have fixed this. hope it stays that way.

Yeah the errors from SMAPI are just saying that some mods could not be loaded because they're not compatible with the version of the game/SMAPI that you're playing with
Spouse you can talk to morning and afternoon. You can also add location based strings on their fun days (immersive spouses does this).

But you cannot talk to them when they are walking around town. To which I just add my own dialogue in my head :)

I'm running into a problem with playing with any mods, pretty much. Right now, I'm trying to play with SVE Grandpa's Farm and some quality of life mods. I got the game to load, played through the first 10 days with no issues, saved, and exited. Came back a few irl days later and the save no longer loads. SMAPI loads up the game, no errors detected, everything updated, but it stops trying to load stuff up with the mods after ~5 minutes. I tested it with a brand new save and got the same issue. Save won't load if I make it past the first day.
The log here cuts off at 0112, but I was waiting around until 0120 before I force closed the program.

Tried again today and let it sit for 22 minutes. Looks like it went for longer this time, but still never finished. I think it stopped trying to load things when my screensaver kicked in.

Yeah that log does looks like it includes the issue you're having. I'm not familiar with this particular issue, but it seems like it would be related to any mod which modifies the farm map. Someone else who has seen this error before will probably know what specifically may be the issue.

yeah, from that log it looks like you must have had an XNB mod because i don't see any possible culprits otherwise. uninstalling and reinstalling, and verifying files just in case, will hopefully fix it

If you have it on steam you'll have to use DepotDownloader to download old versions of software you own. You used to be able to just use steamcmd to download old manifests but Valve changed something a year ago that broke it (intentionally or unintentionally) [Unless it's changed and you can do that again]

Question: Why does the Mod Compatibility tool say that "Save Game Options" is not open source when it is? Or is that's just cause it is uber broken.
Mod Compatibility is not automatic, it's user supported and only as good as what info was entered on the wiki

psa: if you go to sleep with time frozen via console command, you'll wake up at the frozen time on the next day (like, if you freeze time at 10:30pm on spring day 1, you'll wake up at 10:30pm spring day 2)
Interesting that happens with console command. Definitely doesn't happen with the flavor of time frozen from CJB Cheats Menu. I have time frozen for indoors and haven't found any issues.
I usually use timespeed, but shop anywhere has the same keybinds, which I forgot to change until I tried to freeze time at 3pm XD so console command it was to get through the day.

that means you're pasting console text--you need to go to that %appdata% folder that the site tells you to go to and drag SMAPI-crash.txt onto the box

Launched SMAPI manually and that worked. It chokes up and stopped responding while loading, but it loaded the game up fine

okay, so go to steam and check under properties for SDV. your launch path must have been changed or deleted, so you'll need to paste it in again. you can just run the SMAPI installer again, no need to uninstall, it'll give you the path to copy

@olive axle Depends on the mod. Sometimes you need to delete the old folder, sometimes you can simply drag the new one into the Mods folder and just replace the files. It'll say which to do on the download page with Nexus

I haven't tried it out yet but I decided to set pre-load to false for all of the SVE and RSV music except the RSV town song (since it's played whenever you go there). I'm hoping that helps
I saw talk about this potentially causing problems playing those songs in the jukebox but I don't use the jukebox so it doesn't bother me

Here's a guide but basically you want to download SMAPI. SMAPI will make a mod folder wherever Stardew Valley is installed. Download CJB Item Spawner and put it in the mod folder after extracting it. That's it. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide

I extract to my download folder, then I go into the folder that extracting creates (the one with numbers at the end), then cut the first folder and paste into the mod folder

Can comfirm. I'm out in the middle of the country with super garbage satellite based wifi and apart from the really big mods (sdve or ridgeside for example) most mods take literal seconds (if that) to download.

(nexus has newish "you have an adblocker :CCCC you should turn it off so we get money from ads :CCCCCCC" sign and so i tried it with the adblocker off and they have autoplay video ads that follow you when you scroll, no thanks

Ok, that means SMAPI installed correctly. If you use Steam, then you'd need to set your Steam install options.

@fervent gust What I've found to work is to go into your Internal folder.
if you need to set steam launch options, that's in the guide. Otherwise, you'd launch the game through SMAPI
And open the .exe in there. π
and SMAPI is in your game folder
For some reason the .bat file never works for me. π
SMAPI isn't "windows install" though
I'd always get errors using the .bat file. π

Looks like you might be trying to run the installer from within the zip file rather than unzipping first
they said they got the green text, I made the assumption that that meant SMAPI was installed correctly o.o
But yeah, you'll have to extract it first.
In Windows 10, it is just a matter of opening the .zip and dragging the SMAPI-installer directory on to your desktop.

You'll just want to make sure when you launch the game, that you are launching StardewModdingAPI.exe
The pufferchicken also shows up on the regular Stardew Valley.exe
And that would load the game, no mods.
