anyone know how i could turn on assembky binding logging?
I dont know how I managed to do it but some folders rly were missing and that was the issue causing the errors... man I love you, many many hugs โค๏ธ I tried so many complicated things but in the end it was so easy but I was blind

SDV is pretty lightweight as a game, so it should be ok. Depends on how many mods and what type of mods you use, but idk any specifics on chromebooks

Most recently I'd also discovered that Remote Fridge Storage was slowing me down when looking at chests, but I have a heavy mod loadout in general, so it could have been in part an interaction with my other 442 mods
alls I know is, removing Remote Fridge Storage removed the slowdown while checking chests lol

Okay, I see PyTK errors and I know that was having some issues re: the Stardew 1.5 update. It also looks like you might have dumped the contents of a mod folder into your main Mods folder instead of putting the whole folder in there? Or XNB mods, as Lenne said.
The XNB mods would be the ones in your Mods folder that begins with Content

Either way, I think you may need to reset your game files, and also delete all the Mods > Content stuff
The ones that seem to be in Mods > Content

Nono, those mods are not recommended
Don't put anything in your game content folder
They directly replace game files, which can cause other issues, and they're less compatible with other mods
I suspect what you've got here is a mod that wasn't installed quite right, but I'm not certain
I would delete the Content folder to start with though
So to recap, reset your game files per the 2nd link in the governor message above, delete the Content folder within your Mods folder, and update the mods that need updates

download the new version (probably from Nexus), delete the old one and put the new one in your mods folder

So... there's a character modded into my SDV (Mister Ginger, he's a cat) that usually just makes cat noises. I was just passing the town on the road home, and he said 'hello penny' as penny was walking Jas home to the ranch. And I'm like

you can get Steam to check your game files and replace any missing/damaged ones automatically (see the reset link above)
I'm gonna go make some food and then slog through updating everything that I can before making some new farms! Just to check - there was a mod I used that was an "unofficial" update, I believe the mod hadn't been officially updated in some time. Would the unofficial version of the mod still work on the new SDV update?
depends on what the mod was. CP mods seem to work okay

I also love that mod, especially if I forgot that day and went off farm to enjoy my life before being like "oh no, my animals need hugs!" and just hit the hotkey, had Sebastian the hubby do it ๐
The health bars are showing way to the right of mobs. I've tried different health bars from different people and this happens with all of them, so it has to be the doing of another mod, but I have no idea which one since the Compat list says all the mods I have are 1.5 compatible. Anyone knows of any mods that could be causing this conflict?

Actually, it may not be another mod. It may be the code that all those mods try to edit is different on account of the update
I was having the same issue with the Show Ladder Location mod, so it seems to be a UI issue?
Hence why I mentioned that the compat list says they're 1.5 compatible. Could they still have issues despite being green there?
You could try temporarily removing all your other mods except the health bar mod, and see if you still get the issue

He def isnt. Also my first quest was to get him a frozen tear so he could hang it on a chain. And he thanked me very politely. I may need to add him to custom npc exclusions (Jessie also has asked for fish and she's set up to be vegan so... ><). Alas many things are hardcoded!
Can you recap what you've tried so far and share a new log? That way all the info is in 1 place and someone with better tech skills can chime in
ok so, i deleted all files related to mods. as in the downloaded mod folders. i then went in and re downloaded them all and moved the correct ones into the folder
maybe its the farm expansion one thats causing the problem?

Granted, if you know what you're doing and keep backups, you should be ok (but everyone should avoid them)
I dunno but last time we had a sound one it was linked to someone replacing the soundwave bank which hadnt been updated for 1.4

I can't speak to story because I don't use SVE, but I do know there's a couple extra steps to the installation process when it's on an existing save

The SVE wiki recommends a new save but doesn't really say why
I had one that was supposed to change Demetrius's schedule so he'd actually come check on his experiments, but that's it

SVE makes A LOT of changes to the game, especially to the maps, so it's generally easier to start fresh
I think it may add dialog / events earlier in the story but idk

I don't know the event ID offhand but if you or someone else checks in Data/Events/Farm for the ID you can just type debug ebi ID in the SMAPI console
It will replay the Demetrius event, just need the event ID. You can also download the mod corrin mentioned for a more immersive route if you want him to ask again once a year

[SMAPI] Broke loop while loading asset 'Data\mail'.
I've gotten this warning message every once in a while, and it doesn't seem to be causing anything game breaking. I noticed it a couple days ago when I went to get mail from my mailbox and it auto closed, without loading the letter, then the warning popped up in the SMAPI console

@royal arrow I don't know what causes in your case but I think it's usually something like, a mod tells SMAPI that it's got some asset for it, then when SMAPI wants it says "you were supposed to bring it
" so SMAPI breaks the loop instead of going back and forth in a "no u"

if someone knows how to edit map can check if it under that cave there is a water under the floor
if the swim mod use the "water id" then it will be the official (not a bug, but there is water under the floor at that place)
So I'm updatingg the last of my mods and literally just realised that SDV Expanded has a new farm map! I'm quite excited about this, and plan on making a new farm - just a quick question regarding the river - will the ducks swim in it?

Potentially relevant information:
- There is no [FTM] Stardew Valley Expanded\data folder
- There is no DynamicNightTime folder, though I have had Dynamic Night Time installed in the past, and it's definitely a SMAPI mod
- Life Cycle is a SMAPI mod, and it's installed in the same way I've always had it installed which gave no errors
- I'm using Mod Organizer 2
Life Cycle is technically a Content Patcher (CP) content pack, but that's more for learnings 
When SMAPI says "this isn't a SMAPI mod" it actually means it didn't find a manifest.json file. Do those 2 mod folders have a manifest.json file for you?
That file is needed for SMAPI to load the mods
Life Cycle is like SVE in that it has a bunch of different subfolders, each with its own manifest.json. the only other difference i can find is that the [CP] folders that contain the manifests are 2 levels down instead of 1
so it goes Life Cycle/Life Cycle - Abigail & Sebastian/[CP] Life Cycle - Abigail & Sebastian/manifest.json
True , it does have other components, my apologies. I forgot there's a TMXL and MFM component

What do you mean by "named differently"?
I don't use mod manager so take this with a grain of salt, but when unzipping folders and putting them into the mod folder, sometimes they have names that don't necessarily line up with what the mod is called
I had this issue when I was trying to uninstall part of the community a few days ago. Drove me crazy trying to find it
Pearl is right, I've had mod folders that had very different names to the mod name, although sometimes it's a punctuation / spacing thing
well i moved them all up a level and now it's just listing each folder as "not a smapi mod".

@dire fractal i think your problem is that industrial furniture doesn't replace the whole png, it does individual edits. so some things won't be changed, because the original author doesn't make changes to them in the content.json
for example, i edited the png so the bed is a new one

np, it was literally just changing what a single file is named, about as simple as it gets
i replaced it on the png but for some reason it still loads the vanilla ones
found it! It's the unofficial Penny Expanded conversion I'm using. I removed it, and the warning message stopped (the version was 2.0.1-unofficial.1-flameofnight)
If everything else works it might be fine, just depends if it was actually supposed to do something or what. Like, "did you bring the drinks?" "No, I thought you were" "oh well" :)

try changing the manifest number to match what smapi is telling you
There may be a typo in the version number in the manifest.json
You can update this yourself by opening the manifest.json with any text editor (Notepad or Notepad++ work)
It's harmless if you know for sure you have the latest version though

Hi! I just installed the 1.5 update as I got excited to play again after hearing about it, I tried loading up my save file I made back in 2016 (worked until just recently) but I go to click on it and get sent to the black loading screen and then it just crashes and my whole game shuts down
I was previously playing with mods but got a new computer and I no longer have any of the mods installed including smapi itself I've tried multiple fixes and even checked my files to make sure the save still exists and is there (it is) I would love some help so I can play the new update :)

in that case you're best off starting a new save, uninstalling mods mid-playthrough that have scripted components to them isnt a good idea

You could try installing SMAPI and loading your save, it might give you errors telling you what dependencies are missing but I'm not sure

@scarlet egret Hey, like I mentioned in support, first try installing SMAPI and see if the save loads https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows SMAPI cleans up your save pretty well from things like locations and NPCs that would otherwise crash the game, so you don't just automatically need to start over. If it still crashes with SMAPI installed, it will give us a log to work with at least.

My version of the game is the steam version and, when I was installing the SMAPI, I read after installing it I should run the game by steam, but the mods isn't working when I open Stardew, they just work when I open it by the .exe created by SMAPI (StardewModdingAPI). I already copy and paste the path in Set Launch Options.

If the save loaded and everything seems fine, you can just play like that, or save with SMAPI installed, then try removing SMAPI and loading vanilla :)
(though SMAPI isn't really affecting your gameplay without mods, and comes with some handy functionality and logging if you run into problems)
I would love to go back to playing vanilla with all the new things added but I might keep smapi just for emergencies

I am trying to run the most basic SVE setup here and I am pretty sure I followed all instructions perfectly but my console is spitting out infinite red text and when I click on the console my whole game freezes instantly

I haven't used a lot of big content mods and am probably not up to date on what all is working with what else (or what needs updating for 1.5), but I believe the newer Ridgeside mod was meant to work with it. There are a lot of content/NPC adding mods big and small (if maybe not quite SO big as SVE mostly hehe), so I'd just make sure to read any compatibility info the author includes in the mod page.

just be aware that some CP furniture mods will give you visual glitches like invisible beds
we don't know if it will get updated, it may be replaced by a new framework--there were tons of changes to furniture in 1.5

The Shiko mod is not broken, just... stale, I guess. I read about how someone updated to BH compatibility and working on seasonal outfits but I can't find anything.
(I do remember Shiko having a few issues so it might be, but just to clarify my question, the date a custom NPC was updated doesn't really mean it needs an update. Since it's possible they just avoid all the vanilla files to add their own, they can escape pretty much unscathed once the parent frameworks update. That doesn't mean they are bug free, just that the date alone is not reliable!)
I'm not sure what the permissions are for Shiko, but unless they are open it's unlikely any reposting/improvement/update/etc that used any of its original assets at all could be hosted on Nexus.
Someone that wanted to tackle it might be able to reach the author though :)

I uninstalled SMAPI, deleted the mods I had downloaded, and cleared the Steam launch option. Now the game acts like it's launching, but then a white box pops up and disappears, and the Steam button changes back to "launch." Does anyone have any idea how I fix this or where I should go for help?

@carmine sable Try leaving SMAPI installed, but renaming or removing your Mods folder so that none are installed, then saving a day with SMAPI installed. Does it let you load without SMAPI after you do that?

Well, since you'd deleted them already it's probably fine anyway, but just in case.
You're fine! SMAPI is able to clean up (most) stuff leftover in your save after removing mods, but vanilla won't, so instead of going from fully modded to fully vanilla, it's best to have "SMAPI without mods" as an inbetween step.
i think convenient chests is still working for that feature at least! the workbench thing is broken though

That depends on how the dialogue mods are made, you'd need to open them up and make sure they're just editing specific entries.

It looks like not having SpaceCore causes winter crops to die/not work, but I definitely have the most updated version of SpaceCore. Is anyone else using json project populate and having issues with it's winter crops? Here's my smapi log for good measure, even though I don't believe there were any errors related to this.

question for finding mods: i use nexusmods to find stardew mods and it tells you when the mod was last update so unless a mod says updated dec 22 2020 i should just assume it doesnt work with 1.5 right?

Most content packs should be fine once their frameworks are updated, albeit they may be missing 1.5 content. Some files did get changes like houses and furniture so mods that target those are the ones most likely to not work.
For SMAPI mods you can check the compatibility page https://smapi.io/mods to see if it's working in 1.5 or if it has an unofficial update.

I use a mod called Adopt and Skin where Marnie will occasionally have either a cat, dog, or farm animal that you can adopt. You can even adopt wild horses. But you have to use an unofficial update cause it hasn't been officially updated yet.

@rare quest Hey Flash, got a bug.
When repairing the shed you need to split exactly 150 Hardwood/being careful by only clicking once or you can end up putting your whole stash of hardwood in the chest and getting spammed with manifests. Had to use CJB to get my stash back. This is prob the same for the others.

you can use vortex or moddrop Klinsk, but it's not recommended. They tend to mess up installs or lose preference data, et cetera. Especially vortex, moddrop is apparently better about it but still

@modern cape, just be aware that it's best to play at least one day with SMAPI and no mods. SMAPI can clean up custom stuff from your save, the vanilla game can't

You can open the log with a text editor (Notepad or Notepad++ work), copy from the very top of the log to the bottom of the first couple errors, then parse that at the site
So, Ive started a new game and apparently something is wrong with the crafting menu and completing miniquests. I've crafted a furnace and a scarecrow but the quest hasn't completed.
Its as if the game doesn't register as the items being crafted

you need to install Farm Type Manager, and you need to have only one copy of Grandpa's Farm
I imagine it has something to do with a mod that messes with the crafting menu

it's just that the ones that actually added content, instead of adding ways to more easily add content, weren't loading or were trying to change stuff that wasn't loading

one of the mods I have installed are not allowing me to continue the early game quests which require you to craft items, I've crafted a scarecrow and a furnace and the quests are still asking me to craft them.
trantula45, you have several mods that are being skipped, see the Skipped mods section. Those errors say what's wrong and how to fix. Try that first and see if that helps. It'll help narrow down the issue

The fact that they are skipped tells me its not one of them. I feel its one of mods that are active that change the crafting menu, like PFM and or artisan valley
