it is probably further away in the void and you may need always scroll camera to get it onscreen

i have a few. like the horse being changed to centorea, my buildings looking like stone, my animals being fat and chonky. they all seem to work. Surprisingly the cellar mod I have works. Minervas bigger house is completely broken though, SVE is not working correctly either but im sure at least that one will be fixed soon. Actually though I was thinking of just wiping all my mods entirely and redownling just a small select few instead of having the 200+ that I had

I think Better Sprinklers (the SMAPISprinklerMod folder) might show scarecrow range for some reason.
(that's what i meant earlier about getting a log haha, sorry!)
Try removing Better Sprinklers and UI Info Suite, and see if the overlay is still there?

yeah the sprinkler mod does show range for anything with range. it also has a nifty grid it can pop up with F3. I was trying to remember what mod did that earlier when I was making a list of which mods to keep but just remembered it thanks to this thread 😄

my brain is blanking-- if I'm installing PPJA Artisan Valley, do I put the Artisan Valley folder into Mods, or all the folders inside Artisan Valley into mods?
yeah mods work regardless on where you put them. I have done some sorting myself like all ppja mods in a ppja folder and all cp mods in a cp folder. I aslo have a requirements folder that holds mods that er just required for other mods to work. so yeah mix and match works

has anyone else had a bug with the feast of the winter star? when someone was giving me my gift they speed walked off screen and i just had to stand there with no option to do anything, had to just exit out.
beds are in the furniture spritesheet now in what used to be a blank spot, old furniture mods often erase the beds

Someone else had this problem but it was fixed with a reset 
@dire fractal You can try downloading one for 1.4+ and then using https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/678284714829807636/790681108106051634/CP_Vanilla_Content_Bandaid_1.5.zip. You need to install it, run the game once, then open the config.json in a text editor and turn everything that's true to false, except the option that mentions furniture and craftables. (I haven't updated to fix farmhouse beds and turn everything to false default yet)
(Your stuff won't match and beds won't be recolored so you'll still be sad, but other furniture will be recolored and you can find new vanilla beds at least)
(Oh, you can set desaturation to "little" or "lot" in the config to desaturate a little to try to match levels of recolor too, it just won't be custom and stuff)

Something to take note of: Pre-1.5 Bed Retextures will turn your bed invisible, as beds now count as furniture and not a separate asset. It’s still there if you really wanna use the mods
@fervent roost I highly suggest saving a full copy of your current mods folder elsewhere, so you have a clear starting point on what you had before, and also so you can double check any config changes you made

with Replanter I often found myself not doing any farm work and just hitting that one button and going off to do other things
Content Patcher can literally do anything an XNB mod can do, only better, more selectively, and with a million options, so a "workaround" for an XNB mod is to convert it to Content Patcher heh
But yeah if it replaced whole files even as a CP mod!! it will need updating :(

(It's possible for SMAPI/CP mods to use XNB format without replacing whole files, but hardly anyone does that, especially for dialogue, so it's like 99.9999999% the whole file is replaced. Still, for CP mods what you want to look for is in the content.json which you can open with any text editor, and "Action": "Load" on the file, which is what determines if the entire thing is replaced or not)

Load is the one that's most likely to break with game updates, because it replaces everything so whenever stuff is added the Load action eats it
and also the path to go from "left of bus" to uo from there doesn't exist
that path is a huge time saber
oh yeah you can use either RTF, which mostly works, or the chop down bushes for wood mod
that path is now added by vanilla but you have to unlock it

hmmm have you tried looking up the problem on google or have you downloaded the new smapi and did an unstall and restall?

it is in fact a zip file and should be opened with a zip file opener like the one built into windows explorer
(the filesystem's fancy name, basically)
also check to make sure your antivirus isn't eating a chunk of it

@safe cloak You're probably using interior map replacers. You can try installing this, running the game once, then turning all the config options except dropboxes off.
smapi always gets falsely flagged as a virus for the first few days, because of the virus-like behaviour of modifying another program (called stardew valley) with data from other files (called mods) and accessing the filesystem (to load mods and back up your saves)

Note that there's a report of schedule issues with some part of it that I think is a map edit, but I haven't investigated/fixed yet so if you see Willy standing aimlessly in a bush, just disable it and wait for an update to your map replacer :P
Copy/paste from #vanilla-tech-support: Hey y'all, newbie here asking for help! My game has been crashing whenever I exit my house and head towards the cave/greenhouse, first showing the map without any buildings, trees, decoration, player sprites, etc. and showing a screen of just the ground textures before shutting down completely. I thought it was because the farms I was loading up used a map mod that I hadn't updated, but even after updating all my mods and removing the obsolete ones, I still run into this issue on all my save files. I suspect this could be a mod issue, but I'd like to rule out any problems with the game first ❤️ Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Can you explain a little more I am confused
@safe cloak Either wait for an update to any map replacer mods you use (like Karmylla's or Reimagined for example if the latter does interiors which I ... don't think it does but whatever), or try installing the mod I linked and turning all the options in its config.json off except the one that mentions dropboxes.
(just to clarify too, unprefixed tilesheets have always caused issues on the farm + some other areas, they just used to be more subtle and not crash and burn 😅 It's fundamentally the same issue, just new, more exciting symptom :D )
(I am hoping that this will really drill in that rule now, as a sort of positive to the initial pain :) )

Hey, I’m new and I need some help! So I’ve been using Minerva’s Harder CC bundle pack (along with 14 other mods), and I’ve spent the last two days trying to update everything with the new 1.5 update. I thought I had it, but now I’m on the game, and I’m missing the vault, boiler room and bulletin board scrolls, none of which were done. I’ve tried deleting the folders and re-downloading them, but they don’t seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas? If so, thanks!
unfortunately all bundle mods broke because of the 1.5 changes to the bundle system

some issues! there are a lot of new sprites and they will not be recoloured yet so stuff may look bad, espeically the new farm
also, some types of town graphic replacers may remove some of the new content

I figured it out if anyone else is having my issue -- it's FireFox. It sees the zip as uncommon and risky, so you have to click the downloads icon and select "open file" instead of "delete file", otherwise you get my error.

Before anything else, please keep in mind that this is a busy time of year and mod authors have their own lives. Please be patient with them and everyone else trying to help, and if you have a lot of mod problems consider checking out the huge update on its own before diving back into modding :)...

I disagree honestly, there are people that think Load is so bad that they will never use it or recommend its use even if every single sprite on a sheet is replaced, but then use EditImage to "fix" conflict errors between mods (which just hides the conflict). If they didn't literally set coordinates all around stuff so there is no empty space overwritten, they have just as much chance of removing new content that is added mid-sheet vs at bottom of sheet
So it just depends on the content and how they did it

I had an issue with clean crafting menu mod where new recipes where gone. Hopefully they came back once I disabled the mod.

This is from the tilesheet where it's possible to remove the new board -- I think many recolors will actually be fine for this specific thing and it's more likely to be caused by map replacers, because "overlay" is pretty common when they don't change the shape of stuff ( in which case they need to use replace)
I think if you see coordinates defined in your content.json, it's a good bet that someone did not replace that area between ruined joja and the truck (though it's possible of course), but if someone was just carefully using edit to remove conflict between mods (or even was trying to future proof bottom-of-sheet additions!) the board that fits neatly here would be replaced by the mod's "empty space" tiles

So for sheets that are not only get appended to, but have content added to in the middle, the only way to avoid needing to update (which is not end of world) is to specifically set coordinates "around" all the stuff you aren't technically changing

I don't see how those tilesheets could cause a crash since they are just extra tiles for maps. They aren't even recolors.

they're a custom tilesheet; they add new tiles; they're not prefixed; they're the only mod that touches tilesheets that both LochandLoad and i both have; my game just crashed on a non-dasiyniko standard farm from going near the greenhouse with that mod as one of two possible culprits and the other one was dasiyniko's earthy recolour

Daisy's tilesheets do not edit the maps or vanilla tilesheets.

It's not possible for a tilesheet resource to be prefixed because it doesn't edit maps!
I'm not discounting your crash I just think it's easy to make assumptions and decide a mod is definitely crashing people's games when it's not their fault
I've removed the greenhouse and the game crashed again, with the SMAPI log being the same as the previous crash

You can quit the game and get your log, although it might be hoog and you'll need to copy from the very top to the bottom of the first couple errors

(For what its worth, SVE has a megaton of effort and content put into it, but it's also built on top of many frameworks written by other modders handling the programming parts (+ on top of the game itself), so there's always that to consider! There are definitely tools for games that make those kinds of projects doable though, and I think Flash has mentioned wanting to learn C#.)
(That's not to devalue the project's scope/effort/etc at all, just there's a big ecosystem here with a lot to build on, so it can be hard to transition alone :) )

Both Android SMAPI ports are currently broken. ZaneYork is aware of the issue. There is no ETA for a fix. A large portion of the graphics code got abruptly changed which caused the port to break.

You can name a png with a z but it doesn't have any relation to how it is named in the map.

Have ever tried out reshade or Visualize? They're both more universal than recolors, though they lose out on that hand redesign touch

I have used reshade for other games, but the only ones that wouldn't require me messing with them (like on the nexus) have other stuff involved (like chromatic aberration)

it's totally possible that taking out daisy's tilesheets could fix a crash, but it wouldn't be because the tilesheets were causing it, it would be because removing the tilesheets made the mod actually causing it refuse to load

Complicated stuff or anything that changes how something works or wants to add in a whole new mechanics or something are always going to need some kind of C# mod, but there are frameworks made by more experienced people that let content modders add stuff into the game with fancy text files (json)
(They can still be very complicated if you have big dreams and it does still take work, but it's a lower barrier of entry than "first learn C#")
i'm not sure if item spawner would be any different than console command spawning the quest item, but the companion mod CJB Cheats has a function for quests you could try

It's hard to know what is useful because I feel like when people start, all the json edit stuff shared between mods is similar enough that they might as well make their own, and if they are making their own, a generic one like my template is not a good example because it does too much

(I mainly made it for artists that had never done mod stuff before and didn't want to, but I don't think anybody used it :D)

I don't have any errors, but the ||bulletin board by the mayor's house|| won't show up even though the event occurred. It has a little ! where it is supposed to be but it's not interactable/present. I tried removing recolors/building retextures and I'm just at my wit's end as to what is causing it.

File structure didn't change for 1.5 for SVO. Files were added but the last big restructuring was probably 2.0.
it didn't which also explains why I didn't think to test it - the log says TMXL is editing the town map but not like, why it's doing that. Like it doesn't say it's doing so for KRS if that makes sense

To make renaming a lot of things easier you could use Adobe Bridge. That's what I use for renaming shirt packs and for when I was redoing Pam's naming convention.

Hello farmers! I'm having some problems updating SMAPI itself. It would close itself before the update finishes (green text visible) and when I tried launching it the console would give me a set of error text.
Do I need to release my mods folder to identify which one is causing this problem

It's not the most obvious issue so I'd need to look at it more to see what the problem is if it's definitely that mod
my assumption is that the mod hasnt been updated, and didnt handle the "moving my greenhouse" very gracefully
It's just a content pack for CP though hehe so it'd be something with the map
I didn't realize it actually bundles FTM, but that's not loading anyway so that shouldn't have an impact either.

i dont think you can get quite that close to the greenhouse when things are crashy and the graphics die

Hey, question. I had to re-download Immersive farm 2 Remastered and now I've got the extra greenhouse sitting at the default location. There should be a file I'm supposed to move to overrides, maybe? I can't remember.

Sadly no, not without jailbreaking it, and even then, you could only get XNB mods, which directly replace game files, so that's not recommended

Trying to think if it's even possible to double greenhouse now if an IF2-family mod is completely updated, and I feel like you'd only have 1 greenhouse, just in the wrong place

Oh that explains it! It looks like SVE and IF2R (along with some other things) are not actually updated. I'd try completely removing the files before reinstalling, and if you're using a mod manager maybe just try removing from there and redoing it manually.

I just tried the game again and am still having issues. It still can't get past the saving at end of day and it is also closing the menu when I am trying to use the furniture catalog when it gets to a certain spot which is furniture from a mod. All you need to do to install Content Patcher is unzip the mod and put the folder Content Patcher and everything in it, into your Mods folder. It doesn't do anything on its own.
But it should not be the only folder in there, you should also have ConsoleCommands and SaveBackup.

Yep, this has the basic instructions for installing most mods for example https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Install_mods ! Subfolders are okay, but don't put one mod in another mod's folder unless the instructions specifically tell you to do that.

No idea! We don't know how you have anything set up, so the best way to find out is to run the game through SMAPI, then check your log for errors. You can upload it to https://smapi.io/log and that site will parse it to make it easier to read as well as give you a link to share here

I wish I could figure out what is causing my game to hang at saving. I can't play because I can't go to the next day. I posted my log above but am not sure what the error in there means. it's in the game itself, something to do with base update loop?
The one reguarding the catalog is in there too. Though that is likely because the mod is out of date . Sadly I don't think it's been updated yet.
Hello! Sorry if this question has already been asked/answered, but I just reinstalled updates for all my mods today. And I'm trying to load a single player save file with SVE and IF2R, but my farm isn't loading with IF2R. Will I have to start a new game to play 1.5?
I'm going to try without my mods and see if it still hangs when trying to go to the next day. See if it's the game itself or coming from a mod.
am I crazy, or is the SMAPI folder empty for 3.8 no matter if I get it from nexusmods or the main site?
Welp it's definately coming from a mod...it just saved with no issue. Now to figure out which of my many many mods is causing the issue....I may start with one that I know is causing other issues and go from there.

or, if you're on firefox, on some firefox settings it may be treating smapi as a dangerous download and eating it - make sure you tell it to save the file

If you're playing with Stardew Valley Expanded (SVE), you can use Immersive Farm 2 Remastered, which is an optional download on the SVE page
Note that while SVE does not require Immersive Farm 2 Remastered (IF2R), IF2R does require SVE
Well that was fast. Seems it was the same mod causing both errors, the one with the catalog and the saving one. It was the furniture one, Yellog's Brown and Cream Furniture. Which is a shame because I love that one!

hmmmm i can't tell why my game is crashing? it says it's something with the greenhouse area (it crashes when i exit my farmhouse and go towards the greenhouse, haven't even made it to the greenhouse itself yet), but i thought i removed all my mods that mess with the greenhouse...

You have a lot of buildables installed as well, so it's possible one of them might be causing it if they're on the farm. I don't see any that I know are broken, but I see some that I don't know they aren't, if that makes any sense :)

It looks like there may be several different errors going on.
At least one of them though is being repeated several times.
it's a tool to try and make unpacking the game easier for modders, and also repacking files possible since back then there were a few things that could only be done via XNB modding (this is no longer the case)

it looks like the shop menu crashed trying to load a fish that does not exist 'fish_ladyfish' which caused cascading errors of 'hey, that doesnt exist'

yeah it's been okay for me too. Though I kind of wish I could use the farm map without having to have SVE too. I love that farm map but would not mind not having the SVE stuff.

yes but I was able to save just now, after removing Modern Gothic Interior. Trying removing the Yellog one again to see if the furniture catalog issue also gets fixed.

ah yeah wasnt sure if the lowest errors was part of the first or not, it was definately complaining about finding a CustomFurniture object where it didnt want it

Does anyone know if there's any other mods like TimeSpeed? I want to slow down the default speed of time to make days longer, but TimeSpeed is broken for local co-op and time's completely frozen.

Okay removing both Modern Gothic Furniture and Yellog's Dark Brown and Cream Furniture Remake fixed both the saving and catalog issues. Still have a few non-serious things like Json not knowing what batter is and some things not being found but for the most part I think I have it playable now. I just hope both those mods get updated soon even if it's unofficial as I really love them so much and am going to miss them.
