The main furniture cps i have are Emies Classy New, and Mi's Fireplaces ( not sure if that counts?) I have 3 interiors which is Elles Kitchen, Elegant Victorian and Classy New interior. all are CPs as stated. would these effect anything aside from the bed? Should i temporarily remove the furniture ones?
easiest way to check is to open up the content.json file. if it's just a couple of lines and does Action: "Load", you'll have invisible bed and other new furniture. if there are a bunch of lines with numbers you're fine

Sounds like you might need the unofficial PyTK update and/or Expanded Preconditions Utility (required for JA to load now)? But posting your log might help

btw @dire fractal and @unique juniper, we figured out the aquarium error--it's from more new fish bc vanilla adds a fish with the same name as one of trent's fish, it will be fixed soon

Update: I tried deleting the shadow thing that's fucking up the Grandpa's Farm map and it just broke the entire mod so that's a no go. I don't know how to fix it.
you have some duplicates in the Skipped mods section. The error message mentions how to fix those, with the folder path. Next I recommend removing any mod that says it didn't load because it's no longer compatible

hey. I am new here 🙂 got stardew for PC today for mod reasons. I cant get SMAPI to work. I have the file, I open the batch file and it says "Extracting install files..." and then doesnt do anything? How long should it take to extract?
did you extract SMAPI before installing?
That should work, yes, SVE only edits the "standard" farm type if you install a farm addon* and is usually compatible with the others

Hi, I have a question. I have updated SDV, SMAPI, and the mods that were updated as of the 21st of this month. It seems to be running but the little box that is usually in the background, where I would put in commands, is not showing. Also the commands in game for some of the mods aren't working, like the CBJ ones. I was going to parse and upload my log but the folder t is usually in is gone! It was there before I updated.

It sounds like you might be running the non-SMAPI version of Stardew. If you're running it through Steam, you might need to set the custom launch properties again: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows#Option_A:_use_SMAPI.27s_installer
If not, you may need to run StardewModdingAPI.exe instead of StardewValley.exe if you're launching them directly. 
(Or a third possibility, SMAPI might have been uninstalled by accident, meaning you'll need to reinstall it)

I'm not sure if there's an easier way, but if it helps, you can right-click on the installer's header bar (the top) and choose Properties for some customization options (e.g. window width/height):
And yep the launch line was gone from Steam. Now if I could just get it copied from the smapi box I should be good to go(at least until I see what I still need to update, lol).

like lenne said, it's fine! do note though that AV has a lot of dependencies you'll need, and also, Custom Casks Mod is causing errors rn so you should avoid installing the add-on pack for that mod

To update SVE just delete all SVE files and replace with new ones?
The best antivirus is common sense
Anyone have any experience with Cooking Skill mod, did it cause crashes for anyone or break saves or something similar?
Flash usually notes in the changelogs if you absolutely have to delete all the SVE files, but it's good practice to do so
and I just have to hope my students have...common...sense

my antivirus detects SMAPI's current version as a virus and it says

do you know if this is anything serious or just another antivirus mistake?
there are overlapping id's i believe, it gives an error when you start the game but the error is under aquarium mod

on most mods if using smapi just redownload the mod and overwrite unless it says otherwise on the mod page

But the developer hasn't been around yet to work on an official version, as far as I know, so "whenever they get to it"

I did have 2 problems but I fixed one(the one where the farm layout was all messed up, had chosen the wrong farm) but i am still having trouble with the other problem, the icons fro the pets when you create a character are gone.

for now, you can edit the config.json using any text editor like Notepad or Notepad++

When you first load the creation screen, how many time do you need to hit the right arrow button by the pet to get to the grey and white cat? Since the pics are gone I can''t tell which one is selected. I just hope it doesn't affect the pet itself in game.
I think you might want to take a look at the Content Patcher mods you have installed and remove the ones that seem to be editing the pets, for now
I think that might be what did it. I had to remove the more animals mod due to a mod it needs being broken and it was after I removed it and a few other mods(though I think it is the only animal one) that I noticed this.

Anyone else use Portraiture? I’m having issues with it. I can only set one character portrait at a time, the second I try to change someone else’s portrait the person before them loses their custom portrait. Is there a way to save the settings?
Portraiture switches sets of portraits, so I don't think you can have different ones per NPC? You can use PyTK to use high res portraits for NPCs + take advantage of all of CPs conditions and stuff, though.

out of curiosity, anyone know what this means? [SMAPI] Broke loop while loading asset 'Data\mail'. I've gotten this warning message every once in a while, and it doesn't seem to be causing anything game breaking. Just now I noticed it when I went to get mail from my mailbox and it auto closed, without loading the letter, then the warning popped up in the SMAPI console
There are some changes to the CC bundles that came with the update that may be causing issues

Some games provide old versions in the betas section; you might be thinking of that. Rolling back is kind of a PITA last I checked.

last time I tried that was getting a very old SDV 1.3 build to test that SMAPI memory leak, I think 
Note that saves aren't backwards compatible, so if you saved in 1.5, that save will not work in 1.4.5.
You'd need a backup of your save before saving in 1.5, or to start a new save in 1.4.5 o.o

Json Assets isn't running there because it requires Expanded Preconditions Utility now: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6529
- Json Assets 1.7.1 because it requires mods which aren't installed (Cherry.ExpandedPreconditionsUtility).

you can just make a copy of your entire game folder to somewhere like your desktop, then update as normal. that way you can run the game through the copied folder to play in 1.4

Savens, if you're determined to use a mod manager, we recommend ModDrop. Manual install over all of them, but ModDrop over Vortex

Mod Organizer works well enough if the user is already familiar with it from Skyrim/Fallout modding

@marble sparrow yea but Mod Organizer is overkill for SDV modding, not at all like Skyrim and other Bethesda games which need that level of control. It also requires a bit of finagling to set up, and some folks struggle just with extracting files >_>

SpaceCore has some features that save/load custom classes, which means it edits the save file system & SMAPI warns about that. It should be fine.

- if you've ever installed XNB replacements (mods that go in the
Contentfolder), you can use Steam's "verify game files" thing to replace them with the originals
if you have a save file alraedy that have mods on it, it might mess it up @zealous ingot

I think JA has a system to fix removed items, but my default loadout doesn't add any, so I'm not 100% sure 
I love the variety but I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all.
also SMAPI tends to clean things up if possible
(e.g. if SVE is uninstalled you'll get warnings about NPC removal, etc)
It's my understanding JA will remove them, but I think it'll still leave behind empty spots in chests? Like, empty in between items
Yeh to make my games play in vanilla I only had to play a day with just smapi and no mods and save it then they open unmodded.
A mod to turn all abandoned JA items into something low value could be fun.
If uninstalled they all become parsnips or something.

Any news on when Stardew Valley Extended is gonna' be functioning? I know they're waiting on PYtk and that.
Seems Configure Mods in game is a bit buggy. If you go into a mod then try to cancel out it will go to a dummy list and takes several clicks if cancel to get back to the actual list. I also noticed what the other person did, I can't click check boxes.

sadly, Entoarox Framework doesn't work in 1.5, nor is it unoficially updated, from what i see

I see what it's doing. When you hit cancel it sometimes goes to the generic mod config choice and gets stuck there.
probably not a bad idea, GMCM is tagged as a requirement for misc mods these days

I'm not sure offhand, but that might just be an issue with the layers used when creating that custom map, so you'd need to wait for the mod to update

There are some map issues with SVE's new farm, but I don't think PyTK would cause them.
data layers might be what you're looking for?
in my log it says "[PyTK] Failed to Patch: NormalizeTilesheetPaths, this Error may not be critical" but thats all i can find about it

Okay, pets are definitely absent, but scanning your mods none leaped out at me even though several edit that file - can you temporarily rename your Mods folder and confirm that it doesn't happen when your SMAPI mods aren't installed?

I finally can buy a winery in the carpentry. But if I PLACE the winery I get an error message. Robin is still building it (I hope), but ... have I done an error or is it the mod? :owo:

Alright then, unfortunately there are some big mods and so kind of a pain to check haha, but ATDSDV, Island, SVE, IF2R, Mouse House Makeover, Flower Valley, and eemie's recolor all edit it 😅
I just remembered I think they were working when SVE was not and were gone after I got it working. I may try that one first.
If you've already tried waiting for a while to see if SMAPI's just slow, you might need to uninstall & reinstall SMAPI

@feral copper The first thing I would do is reinstall SMAPI, then rename your Mods folder temporarily (so that none of them show up as installed), then run the save that's having issues.

SMAPI is able to do a lot of cleanup of stuff in your save file, so it might just work (possibly telling you "did you uninstall something?") and then you can either play from there, or play the day, save, and then uninstall SMAPI
(If it doesn't work with SMAPI's cleanup, we can put the mods back and safely dispose of them 😄 )
