automate can be cpu heavy too though, totally bogged down my game with default settings
thats super weird vibel
pathoschild tests it for stuff like 400-machine setups on default settings and encountered no lag
only time i ever had automate lag involved a cross-mod interaction with a ridiculous number of casks and kegs and multiple chests filled with stacks of caskable items (and due to custom cask mod + artisan valley i had a way higher number of valid caskable items than usual) and then turning on cbj cheat menu's fast machine processing so they finished processing instantly
so it was processing thousands of items every tick, plus it had to process them multiple times a tick because there wasn't enough space for all the items on the output pass, then after the input pass there was sometimes space for some iridium stuff, then there were empty casks to input into, which meant the chests had to be processed again for space...
bascially don't set up 600 casks and 3 chests and 50 kegs and put them all in one machine, fill up the chests so much there is not enough room for all the output to come out at once, and then put it all on instant processing.
i didn't have any machines connected even
i have used automate before without that kind of lag though, so it can be other mods already pushing the cpu to its limits. i know another person on here had the problem with automate too
and i should say stutter instead of lag
anyway the solution for me was to set automate interval to 3600, that is one minute. i still can get strong stutter when the automation happens but it doesn't matter when it's spaced like that
Can you "custom" IF2 farm from SVE using the configs or you can only pick between those 2 options? Because I like this part of the layout with premade plots, but would like to not have everything else from the premade one.
yes, the newer versions have customization options for several different places' fences separately

Hi Everyone, I have a handful of mods that need to be updated, but the game still functions well. This was until I got to the Desert and noticed the Skull Cave is no longer there. Has anyone experienced this or know what mod is making the Skull Cave not appear? (Fall 24th, Year 1)

deleting SVE to re-install it won't effect your save
So if I'm on 1.7, and I need to update to 1.10, I can just delete the folder, and put in the new one?

I'm trying to configure Virtual Keyboard for use on mobile and the transparency setting isn't working right. It works on the title screen but once you load a save the buttons have the default transparency of 0.5. Has anyone encountered this? Am I doing something wrong?

Hey guys just do be clear about updating SVE... Should I delete the entire SVE folder, and replace the new one, or only the [SVE] files within the SVE folder. If the latter, are there any other mods I should remove as well before I put in the new ones?

also make sure to delete custom music and npc fixes if you downloaded it seperately

but you might want to copy a file like the config.json
as that has all of your settings for the mod
Some mods may generate other data files, so merging the new files into the old folder is usually the safest approach.
But for most mods, deleting and pasting works fine.

Is there a mod compatible with mobile that will show npc locations on the map? UI Info Suite doesn't load at all and NPC Map Locations has some weird issues on mobile. I can probably work with it if there's nothing else.

You can't use multiple mods that replace the same farm, but Daisy's usually have a config that let you choose which farm you want to replace, so you could set hers to something other than standard in that case.
Tigerlily, a log is always helpful. You probably have a mod that has a spring outdoors sheet somewhere in there, but logs give us really important context and information and keep us from having to guess :) https://smapi.io/log has instructions for how to share it!
Yeah, I was just about to upload a smapi log and when I loaded the save again it threw me a different error instead- one that I think I know how to fix. Currently testing out my other save file that crashed and if it throws the tilesheet error I'll upload a log

@quartz vortex Does your mod include vanilla tilesheets in the folder, even/especially just spring versions? (spring_beach.png in this case.)
(You need all the tilesheets in your map editing folder, but your mod folder should only have custom tilesheets in it, not vanilla ones!)
O h - in my mod I put in vanilla tilesheets because otherwise I couldn't edit the custom map in tiled.
And inside that mod folder for my mod is spring_beach and all the seasonal tilesheets for the town
The only one for the beach is spring_beach tho
What's wierd is on all my recent saves there's no errors in the smapi console
Yep, you always need them in the same folder in your map editing folder, but the actual playable mod folder that goes in Mods needs to not include vanilla tilesheets - SMAPI always prefers the tilesheets in your folder to the game's when present, so it will use yours instead of whatever people have installed. On top of that, if you are missing seasons - like you normally would be if only including spring for editing - your mod will break (and possibly crash) because you don't have the tilesheet it needs in the same folder.
In this case you don't have winter_beach - just removing spring will fix it.

Before I had the SVE folder holding all mods within itself in the Mod folder, but when I updated, it looks like the Mod didn't load after the update. Does the SVE folder need to still exist or should I have each folder within the zip in the Mod folder?

@stable cargo Now that Vortex 1.2 moves generated files out of the way for disabled mods, what happens to them when switching profiles? Are they preserved per profile, so that each now has an independent configuration for each mod? Are they preserved once across profiles, giving the same persistence behavior as 1.1 but without the annoying SMAPI messages? Or (hopefully not) are they wiped out every time one switches to a profile without that mod enabled?

If it's a desired feature we could look at making them per-profile.
Perfect. Per-profile might be cool, but TBH most Stardew mods that are likely to vary in config per save already persist that config in the save itself rather than a mod-folder config file

I'm on Linux, btw. Vortex 1.1 runs fine on Wine for me. The only adjustment I have to make is hardlinking from Stardew Valley.exe to StardewValley.exe so it will recognize the game being installed

even though it hurts my heart, i've trimmed out some of my mods (mostly music ones, those were the most resource intensive) and it seems to have fixed most game problems for me
@solar kernel try running the game with all the mods you had been on using that made you laggy.
See if there’s just not enough memory or whatever for it. If there is enough then it’s probably a different issue of sorts but idrk

@stable cargo 1.2 is working great for me. Tested profile switches and adding, updating, disabling, enabling, removing mods. Feels more responsive and the font refinements look good. Didn't pick up existing generated files to be cleaned up in profile switches - probably for the better, safety-wise - but it's picking up new ones 
Yeah, it can't pick up extra files from prior to 1.2 being installed. That's the only real limitation.

@tiny pollen It doesn't look like you have any packs installed for MTN. You can just remove it, or try installing a pack for it and see if that helps.
@fervent sandal Karmylla's Maps is not compatible with SVE, because SVE now includes its own town and interior maps. You'll have to pick one or the other.
I heard a few people say Expanded and Deepwoods don't work together, is that true or misinformation I heard? If anyone knows.

I haven't tried it myself, but they should work together as far as I know. SVE doesn't edit the Secret Woods, and Deep Woods is or was recommended on its mod page for some time. (@pliant crater )

@orchid locust Connection issues are such a pain. Is it just this save? Does it work if you both temporarily rename your Mods folder? Is there anything in disconnect logs for either player (should be in a folder next to your saves folder)?

I noticed that the farmhand log was getting fast animations errors too
The saves folder for the host doesn't have a disconnect logs folder. That it the computer that I'm currently on.
Ill try and rename the mods folders and see if that helps
So, I changed the mods folder name, and when the farmhand tried to load into the host's farm the screen goes black still and it doesn't load into the game. In fact the UI from the menu screen stays, the back button and the windows minimize/fullscreen mod stays.
However when I switch over to a different save where the other computer is the host it loads in fine
I really don't understand what the problem is
So here's a new farmhand log with no mods installed. From what I can gather, I think the collections between the two farmer aren't the same

How do I edit chests for the Chests Anywhere mod on mobile? I don't see an edit icon to use.
And there's no 'skip event' button, so I'm stuck doing a hard reset.
Thankfully i did it at the beginning of the day, so no major progress was lost.

The event pathing in the Magic mod is tailored for the vanilla map.
Hi, I can't get Stardew to launch with SMAPI installed. I've used SMAPI before but have had it uninstalled for a while. I'm on mac, I have mono, no mods yet, and I can't get it to launch through steam or with the .exe file (when I click on StardewModdingAPI.exe it says "Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on MacOS) Everything is the latest version.
have you tried turning it off (complete uninstall and file wipe) and turning it on again (totally fresh installation)?
I uninstalled and reinstalled it but I didn’t do anything with the files

Well more accurately that save file in multiplayer
I was able to load an old multiplayer file. But for whatever reason the most recent multiplayer file isn’t loading the farmhand. Even without mods installed.
if the problem's still happening without any mods invovled, then it's a #vanilla-tech-support issue and not a #archived-modded-support issue.
I just changed the name of the mods folder on both computers so it didn’t load any mods at all and the most recent log I posted is the result.

I'm updating here in about 30 minutes. 
1.10.4 fixes the pathing for it, among several other non-related things.
Minerva told me once that any modded game is supposed to be here. But I’ll see what they say there.

@winged robin start by updating all the mods that need updates (you can see that at the top of the logs), then try uninstalling 'Cooking Skill Prestige Adapter' and 'Lumisteria Child NPC Pack' and see if that makes a difference for now

Hi, does anyone know of a program that unpacks and repacks XNB files? I'm trying to use xnbcli but it's having errors and I can't figure out what's missing.
I'm placing the XNB file into the 'packed' section, opening the unpack.bat file, and it's telling me that 'xnbcli.exe' isn't a command or file, and closing command prompt.
are you using the right version for your system? and is xnbcli.exe in the file?

@pulsar knot ( @fast river @rare quest @hazy leaf because we've talked about it ) SooOOoo I made a small custom NPC to get a simple mods folder + save zip in case someone wanted to look into the farmhand custom NPC crash some more, and ... I can't make it crash anymore. The error with prepareSpouseForWedding still occurs, but the wedding itself proceeds as normal, no crashes, spouse is on patio after. Spouse rooms still don't show up properly for client but that's just a problem with the spouse room script and is technically fixable.
I have no idea when this stopped happening, or if there were different conditions in my test saves than this one (I usually start fresh, but I don't really remember). I tested as late as ... early March? I tested with an SVE character, I tested with a clown NPC or two, I think I tested with Shiko, all of them only with the minimum to run those NPCs at a time, and all of them crashed marrying as a farmhand.
Today I tested my NPC, Lyell, Victor, and Sophia, as farmhands, and all of them were fine except for a spot of red in the console. I had a few older versions of mods but haven't tried going b ack to earlier SMAPI and corresponding versions and such. Uhhh so give it a shot I guess? And if you still crash could you send a log? Because I can't make it happen anymore and I don't know whether to

@carmine dirge Download the mod, and pick the dog which you want to use. Then go into the content.json, and where it says "FromFile": "assets/dog.png" rename the <dog.png> to the name of the dog image you want to use

For the tool geodes mod there is the link for nexus, the forums, and some other ones. However the nexus one isn’t up to date (1.1.5 vs. 1.1.6). The forums one is, and as for the other links I haven’t checked

hey! 😊 i need another help, some items such as flower pots, mugs, and books won't pop up on the tables (ill be attaching a screenshot), all the tables that are in the screenshots are supposed to have items on it and then I just realized theyre all gone. As you can see, the item that I am trying to place is green, but once i put it down it is invisible. When i press on the tables the items pop up on my inventory so that means theyre invisible. When i place them on the floor they pop up tho, can any of you tell me whats wrong with it? it was working fine this whole time and it suddenly happened, maybe a mod triggered it or sth? And the items that are invisible on the tables are mods, not the ones provided in the game. Thank you! ❤️

I have the same issue with placing items, it's probably an issue with custom furniture
i have issue when placing items on table with CF too (mine turn into random objects)
but i had this issue only with items, not furniture
(meaning that putting a vase on a table was fine, putting an orange wasn't, for example)
maybe it is no longer possible

well I can't see anything causing that problem directly, I can see several others - you need to update SVE or install some of its adjacent mods, and remove/replace/update some others.

If it still doesn't work after fixing that, I would try renaming your entire Mods folder to something other than Mods and see if that works. If it doesn't, it may just be your game, which we can't help with.
