The Mods folder is in a different location depending on the game install, and they aren't even on Windows. This link https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Install_mods also includes a link explaining how to find the game folder if they don't know.

@sharp nebula yeah, it's SVE. um... don't take it to the wizard yet. you get it in a quest after completeing the community center, and find it in the ruins in forest west.

community center's been finished for a while on this save.
(I got one of the SVE secret notes that involves the ||lost necklace|| prior to starting it and "completed" the side-questy thing it triggers),
go to forest west, enter ||the ruined vinyard||, go upstairs.

has a modded greenhouse. A bit bigger than normal, with multiple floors. Mostly got it because it looks really really nice, with seasonal backgrounds and stuff.

that - is something else entirely. Sweet.
careful if you're using IFR2 though, there's a couple of steps to make it work with seasonal greenhouses.

@lavish sapphire Your screenshots show you trying to open dll files and exes and such, you don't need to do anything different once SMAPI is installed. Just start the game like you normally would! If something is not working or you are stuck at some step, feel free to describe the issue and we can try to help :)

That's when you are installing SMAPI. You right click the install on Mac.command and select open to run the installer.
(If you've already run it, then SMAPI is installed and you can just start the game !)
Did you unzip the installer folder, first? Like take it out of the .zip downloaded folder, not try to run it from inside it?

hello ive installed stardew valley expanded but its not loading the new map at all
@stray swift || Say if I put a chest down, and then a mayonnaise machine next to it, and then put a bunch of eggs in the chest, normally you would have to manually click one singular egg into the machine, with this it just automatically keeps putting the eggs in and then the mayo back in the chest whenever it’s done so long there are eggs in the chest, so if you get multiple each day from your pens you just stash them all in. You can do it with all sorts of things, tree sap included ||

And also, you put your mods in your mods folder. Type “run” in your windows search bar (if you are on windows) and then paste in %AppData%\StardewValley\Mods\ and just extract them and put them in there
Or just right click on the game in your steam library, go to local files, then click browse, and then go to the mods folder in there
Everything should be in your stardew folder

Great. Inside that folder should be one called Mods, and inside there you should see a few core mods already installed like Console Commands
Okay. So each mod you download will need to be unzipped into that Mods folder. For example, Content Patcher is one of the dependencies of SVE (and quite a lot of other mods). Inside its ZIP file is a folder called ContentPatcher. That whole folder goes right inside Mods
So copy every mod i download into the mods files?
Yep, everything that comes out of the zip file goes right into that Mods folder
Now you need to unzip each of those ZIP files into the folder. Many file managers have an option for that if you long-press on the ZIP file itself. The option may be called "Unzip", "Decompress", "Expand" or similar

So if you've got a series of folders in there from each of the zip files, you can delete the zip files themselves
Now that the dependencies are installed, you can install SVE itself the same way
If you're starting a new save for SVE, that's it. Existing saves would need some adjustment to work with SVE

i use android, i installed a bunch of mods today and permanently broke the sv app. i can't save anymore without the game crashing.

when i walk to wizard house, the character just keep on walking
there is no red or yellow strings in the smapi
the wizard is currenly have 3 heart, i think it is one of the heart event

if it's not fixed you may want to report the bug to SVE author
the only issue we found so far in gameplay was the Maps/forest bug cause we cant do wizard bundle

hey guys, me and my friends have been playing on a new multiplayer server for the past few days in vanilla, and we've decided to change it to modded. im worried that changing it to modded might corrupt the save files, but dont know if that will happen. one of the mods definitely changes the layout of the farm. so should we change the server to modded or just create a new server?

No it's its own thing, but it should have an addMaps since it adds maps. Are you looking at the TMX pack? (On mobile at the moment)

Hello, does anyone know why i can't enter the multiplayer window?
i'm trying to play with hamachi and a friend has the exactly same mods and can enter
@rare quest I can't talk to ||Morgan|| in the ||movie theater||, both before and after the ||show||, although the dialog option cursor is showing up. Also, Claire looks like she's missing a shoulder in her ||concessions portrait||. This happened when I took them ||to see the brave little sapling||, if that helps.

@rare quest Also the yellow/orange in my SMAPi logs is related to ||movie concessions|| tastes, or the SVE NPC's lack thereof, so that apparently needs to be added in, too. (sorry for bothering you so much, but I have a thing about not letting stuff fall through the cracks, and that makes for a better mod, so I'm letting you know about it.)

oh i've made it wrong
(The reason SVE needs to load late is to use tilesheets only available in CP, and Boarding House/Catfe need to load late because they add warps. The only large problem at the moment with not doing that is SVE, but with CP being able to replace map properties any CP pack that edits the warps of those areas will overwrite their warps if they don't tell tmxl to proceed after CP is done. Some things probably need to go before CP though, so then you have to split off into another json, it's a clusterfuck of possibilities really)
(this is how I broke boarding house with jessebot's version of IF2 shifty)

Yeah it's per file, so if there is anything that actually needs CP stuff to be there already you would need to put it in another json without loadLate and then add "alsoLoad": myotherjson.json to the main content.json 
I feel like I should just completely move (original) IF2 over to TMXL because it would be a lot simpler to just add a warp that way, with CP only being able to replace
But it would be a mess
I just rewrote all the compatibility stuff and never want to touch it again though :P

So it's been a couple days, I've gotten all the secret notes and gotten the necklace quest, gotten the necklace returned it to abigail, met apples... And I still can't figure out how to trigger the quest where i can get the junimo scroll (SVE). Anyone got some insight as to how I can trigger the quest? is it season-specific or something? or a certain time of day?

SVE immersive map after I got the greenhouse. Greenhouse was fixed fine but just a visual issue

Based on the context, I'm not sure if the new save is required for functionality reasons or because of all the content you'll miss if you've already seen events in vanilla
There's no question a new save is the better option, but I would assume it would still work as described in the save preparation guide, just not being able to see the content meant for early game.
Indeed, the Android port changes the NPC.scheduleTimeToTry field from public to protected. It'll need to be accessed with reflection on Android
So what should i do ?
The mod is Child2NPC - the author has been too busy for modding of late, so I'm not sure when this will be changed officially. I would remove it and any mods depending on it for now.
I'll toss them a PR for when they can get around to it

Hi there, I had this problem yesterday and I didn't get a response, my farmhand isn't loading into our multiplayer game. The only mod I've updated since we last played is TXML loader. I haven't made changes to Fast Animations or JSON Assets

two steps: 1. update and replace your mods as needed according to your log (which appears to be nearly everything). 2. run SDV
report back if there are still problems.
Well this sever is fairly inactive right now...
updated most of my mods, same problem
seems to only happen when I click on a perk
fixed it by removing pregnancy mod, but I think prestige still isn't working
unless I'm doing something wrong

@robust bison i'm using the painless mode currently, which makes the prestige gather up without resetting the skill. before i used the normal mode and i just prestiged the skill, gathered experience and put it into some perk

i think you have to wait for at least a day after reaching level 10 for it to work
I reached level 10 on foraging 2 days a go
I also got the mod after reaching level 10 on farming

i believe the magic mod hasnt been updated in a while meaning that it will have bugs

no, you haven't - these still need to be replaced, removed or updated. Here, I'll give you the quarry replacement, which I know works 'cause I use it:
it is even fully compatible with SVE!
and there's an even longer list of ones that may need to be updated but can't tell you when they have been!

Most of that list I can delete because they are XNB mods, empty folders, etc
good choice - XNB mods can really screw up your game.

most of the list that isn't "mod not compatable" has to deal with incorrectly removed or added mods, however. You'll need to go over that - should be as simple as deleteing and reinstalling the affected mods.
some of them - NPC adventures - also need additional files/modules to work properly, which you should be able to find on the nexus.
The npc adventures one isn't compatible because flashshifter changed the file layout in the latest update

ah. Yes, I tried to call mouse (the junimo) to your aid. By the looks of things, it's a #vanilla-tech-support issue and not a #archived-modded-support issue, although the mods are almost certainly complicating things.

Hello all, I hope someone can help me. My game's been running alright with no issues. However, I just installed Farmer to Florist and some of my flower honeys and jellies have been reclassified to other random plants once harvested from their machines (and also after being placed in a chest). Some of the honeys were for flowers added by Mizu's flowers, but some were for vanilla, and the jelly was for Salmonberry, which is also vanilla. Has anyone seen an issue like this with artisanal goods being renamed/reclassified? For example, I put in a salmonberry into a preserves jar and got instead a random plant jelly. That's a known harmless error with JA
it dynamically assigns item IDs and if new item IDs need to be assigned, this can screw up the naming of anything with a modded preserved parent index (i.e. honeys, jellies, wines, etc)

wrt Reset Terrain Features: you press L, a menu comes up, you can select which things you want reset and if you want them to be reset on only the map you're on or everywhere.

usually if your mods don't load it means you installed them wrong or you didn't add framework mods

so im not getting any errors about the better farm animal variety, but i havent been able to update the config file to add in the new animals i have? like, the instructions file says i have to copy/paste certain code into the config file (and i remember doing that with the old version) but when i open the unofficial BFAV config, theres only two lines of code

The mod changes the game itself especially considering the npc would be marrying you so I would assume that all players need it installed but I could be wrong. Although personally I would just have everyone download it, better safe than sorry.

That happens a fair bit for some reason. Always with the cursors, but I've never had a crash, or save-corruption before.
My computer can run FFXIV at the maximum graphical settings, it shouldn't have any problems with this.

so i got two problems in here: i cant access the stray catfe (a mod that creates a new location off the bus stop; its compatible with sve and the boarding house) and smapi doesnt load the forest correctly so i think thats why it says marnies schedule is messed up? and it also messes up the sve beach and vineyard maps (i cant access those either)
i kno the problems but i need help fixing them
for the stray catfe you can do a simple edit to get the warp to work, but i don't know if it messes up anything else
i updated the other mods and reinstalled SVE, it was lagging very hard, i deleted it and it stopped lagging, so is SVE too much for my mac? it was working fine, maybe SVE is working properly for me now with every map locations loaded but then turns out it is just too much for my mac?
@solar kernel you can try setting monster spawning per location to a low number or null in farm type manager, that can help with lag

if you have automate you can try setting its automation interval to be longer (way higher than the default)

but rather to ram. if stardew is a 32 bit program it can only u se a limited amount of ram

no, the mod doesn't really explain how to install to work with SVE as well, but by his "tutorial" image he had both images from SVE and Vanilla on the same folder, when I did that it asked to overwrite both Morris and Marlon portraits since on SVE they have more expressions, and both characters doesn't work.
I don't know if it's a configuration or something, they have the same file name

i did some performance monitoring with smapi and it seems to be content patcher that takes a long time (matching peak exec time of 6680 with player warp peak exec time), so i suppose it could be just more content patching during winter and so longer execution times
it's very noticeable though
and maybe it's worth noting that the very long loading times started on winter 6th this time, i don't remember if previous winters have been the same

I uhh, downloaded a mod and it just told me to load XML file to use it
you can use "debug money amount_you_want" on smapi console
keep in mind that sets your current amount to that, it doesn't add it
in the console
when you have save open just type that to the console
make sure you didn't delete console commands though
you'd be better off using the cheats menu instead of that o.o

that xml thing is a save editor for use on unmodded saves
you can download the cheats menu mod and press P to open the cheats menu
no point in getting cheats menu for that really, just switch to console and type the command there
CJB does have many useful options too though

@bold bluff you can try setting farm type manager to limit monster spawns, there is an option for it in the config
One thing that can help is checking in the SVE [FTM] sub-mod to see if the monster limit is set
in farm type manager config
but thats not a guaranteed fix

If it's null, or big, setting it to 10 or so can help decrease lag
lag is something you're gonna have to live with then
