If worst comes to worst, you can reinstall stardrop and setup the two different mod profiles. Your save is safe

You'll need to start the game from stardrop not steam smapi, since there's multiple different profiles. Otherwise it would default to using all mods currently located in your mods folder

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.
(See also the Nexus App feedback thread, if you want to help Nexus avoid the same issues in their upcoming replacement for Vortex.)

Yes stardrop tells you what mods can be updated, you can filter them based on mods that only need updating and stardrop provides a link which when you click on opens the mods page
i first tried it thru steam and it didnt work then fixed the launch option ( i htink that worked idk) and launched it thru stardrop :3
That's the way to go, unfortunately you won't be able to set the profiles as a specific 'profile' which steam would be able to load up yet, you'll need to do it through stardrop

Well - that looks right so I don't see why it would give you the error message it did.
If you go to "internal", then "windows", look for "Smapi.Installer.exe" and try running it directly.
I ran the exe and its seems to be working now. Thanks for your help.
No problem - No idea why your computer didn't want to run the .bat file, but it's mostly just a few validations before it calls the direct installer.

Does the Skull caverns elevator mod prevent you from getting the special reward from getting to level 100 in the Skull caverns? I have been down past level 100 several times but am not seeing the Mr Qi cutscene.

Are you using a mod manager?
If you're just downloading the zip files and then dragging the folders from inside the zips into your Mods folder, you are not using a mod manager. That's called manually installing.
Just FYI if you run into issues in future so you can tell the people helping you since it's relevant.

It has to use the C drive temporarily before it can install into the D drive, so your friend will have to make some space on the C drive. Also, many things on computers start not working properly (including games) when you run out of space on your C drive, so they should make space just to keep their computer running properly anyway.
I clicked on the installer and it said that it requires the other data to function and wanted to extract it then this popped up

Hello! I ran into an issue at the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies. Lewis launched the boat and the screen went black and wouldn't start the scene (probably about 5 minutes before I gave up). I could move the cursor and hear the ocean waves, but that's it. If I were to start the game without mods, is there any chance that could fix the event, or just screw up the game? I expect to get married on Fall 1, and I see people had a similar issue when the game first came out, but it looks like that has long been fixed. Ok so I downloaded the content patcher seasonal farmer portrait template fully up to date and made my own portraits plus did as the directions said but I still can’t get my portraits to load in game. Instead they still pop up like this

did you make sure to put the template mod in your mods folder and not in the farmer portraits folder?
ive also heard that the portraits need to be moved out of the assets folder of the template mod to work, so also try putting them in the main folder of the mod, where the content and manifests are

Since it looks like it's the Steam version, go to Steam - Stardew Valley - right click - properties - find the tab for Betas, and make sure it's set to none
Then you'll need to let Steam download 1.6.8

Check the config for SVE - I believe that's an option in the settings - going off memories so could be wrong

Once you tell Steam that you don't want to be in the legacy beta, it'll need time to download a new copy of Stardew - did you give it enough time?

What error are you seeing when you try to launch (screenshot is fine)? Did you have SMAPI installed back on the 1.5.6 version? If SMAPI isn't installed but the launch options are there, it'll fail to launch the game
the yeah just loaded in, the setting didn't fix it still getting an error about the beach not loading
it doesnt show a error message it says its launching but then goes back to the play button

Can you check whether you have the launch options set (or blank ) when you look at the properties of Stardew Valley in Steam?

You can usually ignore it if you have a Steam copy of the game - but the fact that SMAPI can't reach out and check for updates implies you either have Internet issues or something is blocking it

Hmm. I'm honestly not sure - I've never seen that particular error with SVE - I've pinged others who might have more experience.
Have you tried downloading a fresh zip of SVE from Nexus and using that? I don't expect the download to be broken, but I can't see why a clean install of SVE is failing
Yeah launching it through steam, the game runs, but I am counted as a different player for our multiplayer game me and my partner has, it's such a strange one
yeah thats what i've done a couple times now and its still just not loading? the screenshot saying something about sve setting a value to null and some springseason not loading

I'm afraid I've hit my limit from trying to solve from my phone - if you're not moving any of the files within the SVE folder, I'm not sure why you're having issues.

Unrelated but you'll probably need to tweak your mod list slightly for full 1.6 compatibility with DaisyNiko's recolor

- Simple Foilage -> Unofficial Fix 1.6

It might be fully updated (but if so that would be recent), but if it's not and you get black spaces in your housing walls you'll need the fix mod.

your error is kind of confusing because everything its referencing especially from your mods folder looks .. pretty much fine. you have the right sve folders, cp looks fine, you dont have any other mod that would mess with that map and youre not messing with it yourself

Well that's weird that plain vanilla Stardew is failing - I'm at the gym now so can't do a full troubleshooting on mobile - #vanilla-tech-support might be able to help you to get the game running again.
I searched the word spring_shadow in the cp part of the folder and this is all it finds
spring_Shadows.xnb is a vanilla game file, you won't find that in the mod
but do you get the same error when you go to the railroads in the mountains?

fun update, just made a new singleplayer farm and it works??? but it's not working on co-op?

but on the co-op world it was not

we have the same mods and the other 3 players are not having the same issue
there is some open bug report on the SVE discord about the beach and multiplayer, so it might be a common bug

So - cloned NPCs happen, and no one is quite sure why. Most commonly seen with Expanded just because of how extensive it is - Let me look up the exact name and I'll get you a debug command
You'll only want to run this once per clone, but
debug killnpc Mateo should eliminate one of the copies - If you have friendship hearts with him, check their level before and after you do the command just in case something went wrong.
(Well, easier said then done at least)

Sometimes when an npc warps
They are added to their new map without being removed from the old map
Yes - load your game, then put that in the SMAPI console. If there's only one clone, do it only once.

Most of the data associated with an npc is not stored on the npc
So at worst they just respawn the next day :p
To be fair, I've never actually run into the issue myself, so I don't want to overcommit and accidentally kill off important data

idk what is casusing the sudden crash. every time i try to start the game, the terminal would terminate before the game starts and send this error message with no explaination

First of all when you say smapi doesn't work on #modded-stardew , does that mean you don't see a smapi window pops up when launching sdv?

Just to see if there's anything obvious in the log, but duplicate NPCs is a known issue with some mods - I don't think there's a hard and fast fix for it, but there are console commands you can use to delete the duplicates

If the save was originally modded, it's likely something about the save that's causing the bug - If it's inconsistent, you can use the console to just remove the duplicates

Well - That makes things more difficult - I'm afraid I don't know why it keeps happening - the bug I'm aware of typically only happens occasionally.
The best suggestion I have for now - Backup your save, load it back up with your list of mods, then in console do
debug killnpc CaseSensitiveName for both of them until they're gone - Sleep, and they should respawn the next day and hopefully they'll stop duplicating. Make sure you backup your save folder before you do this, just in case there's a better solution.

If they're still duplicating after that, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas, and reverting back to an older save might fix it (But I can't guarantee it)

Find your save (It'll be Farmname_####### as a folder) and just make a copy of the folder elsewhere. SMAPI has SaveBackup by default, which creates rolling saves based on IRL days (I believe), but if you have to roll back that far, you'll lose progress
We can - I don't know how much you'll lose though (Or when your save got weird) - Make a backup copy of the folder anyways, then you can try rolling back a day by renaming the _old files

If so, I don't think there's much to the map, I think it mostly exists for Lavril's story (If you have the mod installed)
There is more to this area later in the base East Scarp mod (without any additional NPCs or modules) || the quest originates from Rosa at the inn and has several parts, you learn about the person who used to live at that cabin in the orchard, and eventually open the basement for some added convenience features but don't want to spoil that bit - I am not entirely sure about the event chain trigger but it's probably related to time and/or friendship with Rosa. I've heard there is added variation to parts of this quest if you have Lavril and/or Juliet installed, but I played through it without either so wouldn't be able to comment on that bit || Hope that helps

First, it's highly recommended you don't use Vortex - It causes more issues then it solves.

You need the whole thing - Quotation marks, spacing, and %command%

That's exactly it. It seems you moved a mod folder without refreshing Stardrop. So Stardrop still looked for the mod in the old folder location and that caused the game to crash.

For some reason LittleNPCs seems to have this breathing animation that makes some of the pixels in the middle of the child sprite expand and shrink, but the way it does it is a little janky and it looks very off-putting as a result. Is there any way to, like, correct this?

I fixed it! I went to an older save and everything is back to normal

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Were you moving folders around to try and organize your mods? It looks like a bunch of folder locations are out of place

You accidentally moved some stuff wrong it looks like. If you have any mods that ended up nested in other mods folders they'll break.
SMAPI will dive into each folder and subfolder until it finds manifest.json at which point it stops investigating that particular folder and subfolders

I have it set up using the localizedtext so that it gets translated automatically, but UI info suite doesnt support it in the hover text

The thing I wrote, which you can see on the screen there, is what the game uses to swap out words in different languages. If you put that same text into Lookup Anything, it shows you "Blueberry Bush" in your native language (I had to ask Pathos myself to code it into Lookup Anything)
UI Info suite hasn't accounted for people using that specific text in that specific location
so if you tell the developers, they'll likely add it to the next update so it can work properly
but since you know you're playing in english, you can just type the english words directly in the file instead

Hello! I have an issue regarding a mod within a mod?? I have the item bags mod, then I have modded item bags added into the game. I only have two currently functioning modded bags, one for cornucopia more crops/flowers, a SVE one, and one for wildflour forage items.
It's a minor issue within the mod, where for some reason items don't register as items that go in the bag, despite them existing.
For example, as you can see in the image, the green circled item registers as something I can put in the bag, but the blue and red seeds don't. These Items are specifically BlueAgaveSeeds, and PrismaticRoseStarter.
I've tried looking through the json to see if there's any obvious typos, or mistakes that I could fix, but I couldn't find any. I don't know if its a simple error that simply removing the bags, then re-adding them could fix, or if its something more, like the item bag not connecting with the cornucopia mod. I've asked about this issue before, but no one could seem to figure out what the issue was, and I was told to ask again later. It's obviously not a game changing error, but as a perfectionist it's been bugging me. If anyone could help me fix it I'd really appreciate it!! 
I'll take a look in about 10 minutes or so, need to get some bread dough ready to rise - are the modded bags separate mods to go with item bags?
Can you link to Nexus for the item bag mods in question?
I can link the Item bags mod, but for the specific json bags, id have to dm them to you, because the previous author seems to have removed them (another reason why I didn't just try deleting and re-installing.)
Is that alright? if not I understand, the modded item bags are just json files added into the original ItemBags mod
I use the SVE and the cornucopia item bag from here, though as you can see they've archived most of them and only RSV and More New fish remain https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/23888/?tab=description
Then for my wildflour foraging bag I use this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/24394/?tab=description (It includes bags for all of wildflours mods, but they only load if you have the corresponding mod currently active, which I dont right now, so only the forage one matters
I have noticed the same issue with the wildflour forage bag, specifically the Unicorn horn, it's the exact same issue, the item exists, but it doesn't register as the same item in the bag.

So, I'm not sure if this is the right channel, but I can't change my cat's breed. I'm going into the files and changing the breed number, but its staying as the default orange cat. I'm wondering if one of my mods is doing this but I don't have any pet replacer mods. Is there a mod that is known to cause this issue? (Also the pet got reset to the default dog but I was able to change it from a dog to a cat, just not the color)
with the game running, try typing debug cmenu into your SMAPI console (the terminal with the log output) and pressing Enter.
that should open the character customization menu and you can use that to change your initial pet to any other animal/breed that is available from the start
It's also worth noting that if you're editing the save file, you should keep the game open (like on the main menu) if you aren't already. Cloud Saves otherwise tend to overwrite the edits you make when launching the game

i'm not able to help much with android modding, but your spacecore looks to be quite old even for the legacy-compatible versions
this list https://android.stardew.rocks/ says 1.16.1 should work.
i doubt ignoring errors from spacecore is a good idea
(spacecore is a big mod that does a lot and patches the game code extensively)
Any versions of Json Assets and SpaceCore that work for 1.5.5 do NOT work for me at all.
SpaceCore, that version of 1.4.5 only works for me. Every other version, later versions always take me back to the title screen or the DLL won't load
I just need help with why the Extra Foods mod and Plentiful Harvest mods aren't working. Maybe I need a different version that's earlier?
could be. those both depend on json assets, which depends on spacecore, so if you can't update spacecore and json assets, you probably have to downgrade those

but it could also be that the error spacecore is throwing (failing to apply a harmony patch) implies that other harmony patches may also be malfunctioning, so even that may not work. i can't say for sure

Do your mods match the host exactly? And if you're the host, please get a log from your friend.
If there's a mismatch, behaviors get real weird real fast

looks like another player has a bantam white (i think that's a chicken?) mod that maybe you don't have
Whoever is host for the farm can install https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6609 without needing to match on the clients, and it'll log in console every mismatch (Be sure to grab 1.0.2-alpha)

so your mods' edits are not sticking (most of the rest of the errors look like trying to edit a texture that could not be resized due to the propagation failure)

Yeah - Get a list of mods from the host, or if it's not too large, you can have them zip a copy of their mod folder and send it to you so you have an exact match
the problem is likely to be the versions of spacecore and json assets you are using, so i'm not sure what else to suggest
spacecore 1.4.0 predates Stardew Valley 1.5 by a couple of months, so that is probably why it is failing to patch on 1.5.6

Unless you disable the mod, I don't think it will work.
Can you elaborate? IE: Mods only working on the farm, but not the town

Mods only working on one save, but not another.
Because if it's the first, nope, if it's the second, it's just a matter of having separate mod folders and loading the right one.

So, when I start up Stardew Valley, I want Steam to ask if I want to open the modded version, or the original version. How do I do this?
I attempted to put the filepath given via Command Prompt into the Steam Launch Options, but that doesn't do what I asked above.

I'm trying to install mods with Smapi on stardew 1.6 for the first time, and despite getting no errors and everything seeming to load in the the logs, the game appears to function like the base game with no changes. There's no mod config menu, hitting F1 doesn't open the cheat menu. I can't figure out what to test next. Here's a parser https://smapi.io/log/3263034e317b4571afe40bd23ba0ea30. The log looks fine and the mods are loading, so can you load a save and try P to bring up the cheat menu?
I tried and P does work. I also tried F1 again, and embarrassingly the problem with that was that my function toggle key was stuck.

Now the only confusing thing was that the config menu is missing. Content patcher should be putting one in the options menu and the title screen, right? Or is that hidden because I have no content packs yet?
Content Patcher is a framework for other mods to add stuff to the game.

and when I launched the game smapi also launched w it
I asked for help in smapi but it could only give me help w the actual commands

Hi, sorry to interrupt! I am trying to install SMAPI on mobile (android). I've followed the steps and I think I've successfully installed it, but when I open it, it just crashes immediately. I installed it thru the installer.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
I downloaded the installer from here and followed these directions
