This is about a change in furniture framework that content pack creators need to deal with, it's not an error that affects gameplay

UI info Suite 2 has a known error that spams the console.

By moving the portraits folder, do you mean the vanilla folder in Content (in which case, you should reset your game files) or a Portrait folder within a mod like Portraiture?

My bad it's not a modded issue only, it happens on vanilla
So I posted here to see if anyone knows about it
The log may still give us information even if it also happens on vanilla, or you can try to get a vanilla log

It just shows that the resolution keeps steadily increasing whenever in windowed mode
That helps! It means the issue is more likely related to a Windows display setting running amok or a needed graphics driver update.
Are you by chance using a multiple monitor setup?

If you have fully followed the instructions (keep going after the Common Fixes section!) then you should have attempted to open SMAPI with PowerShell or Command Prompt. What did that give you as a result?
It should keep the window open long enough to give you the error SMAPI is throwing.

hi guys, idk if this is the right channel to post this in since i just joined the server, but i installed a few mods earlier today and when i open the game the mods i don't see my mods. could someone help me out? i've never used mods on a game before so i'm a little confused on what i'm doing wrong
update: i think i figured it out, didn't realize that downloading smapi didn't install it all the way and that i have to launch from smapi itself

hey, me and my friend are playing on a modded stardew valley on steam, both of us are pc and we have 32 mods on co-op. for some reason, every time she goes to marnie's ranch her game completely bugs out with a black screen and she can hear all the background noise from the game, but she's unable to do anything other than type, and it sometimes still happens when she reopens the game. we both barely know anything about mods, only the basics, so could someone help us out?

At first glance, you've managed to severely mangle your folder structure for your mods
And given that everything is already half broken, it's not surprising the other player's having issues
You'll need to delete Stardew Valley Expanded and reinstall it - Somehow most of the folders are way out of place or not registering as part of the mod.
Your Alternate Texture mods are also mangled, as well as Generic Mod Config Menu

Yup - If you read the error Blossoming Trees 1.1.0 because it requires mods which aren't installed (Content Patcher: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1915) - You need to add Content Patcher

Yes - it's just like any other mod

When you download them from Nexus, it should pop up a list of dependencies - You need to make sure you h ave all of those mods too

If you can link to which mod you were trying to use the portraits from, I can help you figure it out - Most likely you'll need Portraiture to display them - It's the only one I'm aware of for 1.6 at the moment
yeah i had it installed and smapi didn’t say it was interfering with anything so i think its just not updated / bugged
Portraiture works fine - Mods that depended on stuff like HD Portraits just need a little bit of finesse to work fine with Portraiture - I can walk you through it if you want

Ok - so it looks like you have a lot of out of date mods - look at the list at the top, grab up to date copies of the mods in question, remove the old ones and install the new ones

Maybe you were on Stardew 1.5 with the older mods? Can't tell, but a good chunk are out of date and not loading (based on version numbers I think you were on an older version of Stardew)

ok guys I'm back with another problem except this time I've at least found the source 😭 while playing I have the Stardew valley expanded mod downloaded and i wanted to marry Claire but every time I enter the farm house after getting engaged the game crashes. it may have something to do with the custom spose rooms mod i have aswell but im not sure. if anyone could help me try to fix this thatd be amazing!

My (very) modded game crashed while I was playing around with alternate textures on the farm (right when it crashed all objects but the paths flashed and disappeared and SMAPI threw the critical error message). It looks like it tried to access a texture index that was out of range - I'll be at my computer in a few to take a closer look
Ok - I dug through the code - It appears to be trying to handle an animated texture replacement when it suddenly accesses out of bounds and breaks.
The only AT pack that throws a warning is Flowery Crab Pots - Which includes animated textures.
Might be worth disabling that one and seeing what happens.

(This sparked a question: can broken AT packs cause crashes even if the problematic texture isn't being used atm (on the current map or even at all)? Is the mere presence of such an item troublesome? For future reference)

I'm not sure - it depends on what what kind of error checking there is, and I've never used AT Packs.
It's possible you opened something that tried to check all available alternate textures and it hit an issue and exploded - Do let me know if pulling the crab pots fixes it

can anyone help me figure out why something is causing me to get copious amounts of modded crops like for instance i have white alpine strawberries from Bonsters Fruits and Veggies planted which are supposed to drop like 1-4 per harvest and i ended up getting like 50+ from one crop alone

JA Crop Harvest Ridiculous Amounts
The "MaxIncreasePerFarmLevel": field is set to an absurd number in the crop.json file.
GitHub will say this is for XP it is NOT . This field actually controls harvest amounts. Have the user set this to 0
You're getting silly crop amounts because you've got JsonAsset crops (That are pretty much depreciated at this point) and at some point what the field does got changed
The only fix is to either switch to another crop mod, or go in and edit them manually
thats alot of crops to edit
Depending on how established your farm is, a lot of old JA crops ended up in Cornucopia, which is on Content Patcher
If you can find the files, a simple Ctrl F should take you to each crop you'd need to edit, but that's still work
well i did restart for 1.6 so i dont got much going on
so what mods would i have to get rid of?
In the log, look at the ones listed under Json Assets - Unfortunately some of the machine mods never made it over to Content Patcher, but I'm not sure they'd be compatible without the underlying JA crop mods
Someone in #modded-stardew may be able to help suggest replacement mods to fill in the gaps - Cornucopia More Crops and Cornucopia More Flowers adds a ton of crops and flowers.
There may be other artisanal machine mods out there that better take advantage of this that I don't know about

huh, that's odd, I've never seen the command window change the colour scheme
even then, why would it write white on white
Easier if you're trying to change the background - Right click the icon in the upper left corner, go to properties, go to the Colors tab
Rather then dig through registry
i have tried that, it doesn't change anything
Well, that's extra odd - I have no idea how you managed to get it to white in the first place

anyway, you can check your values by navigating to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console in the registry

SMAPI is not seeing any mods being installed (it literally just sees itself and the vanilla game) so there are no errors to look at - does the game eventually launch? If not, can you please try launching the game without SMAPI to see if it works at all (if you added the SMAPI command to your steam launch options you can still launch the vanilla game if you go directly to the Steam folder Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley and launch the "Stardew Valley" file rather than the "StardewModdingAPI" one) Did you add any mods to the mod folder yet?

hey so i seem to have run into an issue. i looked it up and it seems some ppl have had this while using SDE but im wondering if it may have been triggered from the cheats mode im using. anyways the issue is, morris seems to have vanished. ive looked all over for him on the map (i have the mod where it shows npc locations) and i even checked in zuzu and he's just no where and has been gone for a while.
i completed the joja stuff and the joja storage took over the community center. i was wanting to find him to get the theatre built and thats when i realized he was missing. any idea what can be done? if need be, i can just skip having the theatre but i really hope he wont be needed anymore in the game as i rly dont want to start over

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.
There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

But then what happens if i go back into a singleplayer world that previously had mods without mods? I'm guessing it would be fine for cosmetic mods but what about bigger mods?

Look at Stardrop Profiles, what Dragoun mentioned just above your message - it lets you keep separate mod lists for different saves, so you can keep a profile that has all your mods for single player, and then switch to one that doesn't have any/or just few for multiplayer, you can switch back and forth easily without any damage to the game

Hey, so i have better chest installed and on my 1.5.6 save i could configure my chest to only hold specific items, but on my 1.6 saves its not possible, do i need to have a setting on, or was that removed with an update of the mod? the first image is 1.6 and the second is my 1.5.6 save

configuring your chest is still a feature of the mod, you should be able to enable it in the config.json (or the menu if you have gmcm!)

Add PortraiturePlus as a second mod - It adds support for season, festival, etc tokens
audri is the resident portraiture expert and will help you with tokens and getting that to work KFDSHJKSD

that is much better yes! it looks like the json is invalid for the mod - if you know about code, you can put it through SMAPIS json validator to see whats up and where so you can edit it yourself (https://smapi.io/json) otherwise, youll have to comment on the mod itself to get the mod author to fix it

I'm glad to hear it - surprised that AT would let a troubled pack explode and may be worth mentioning on AT's Nexus page.
At least we didn't have to go digging through all of the packs - if you want fancy crab pots, you can use the content patcher version of that mod, just no animations

The next time you have the game up, could you do patch summary asset "Maps/springobjects" - We can look at which mods are altering the springobjects tilesheet, which is kind of a catchall for a lot of stuff

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

It's kind of a trick - you can do "patch summary" for a generic, but it's easier if you can identify which tilesheet is being changed, then only pull patches related to the tilesheet.

you may have another mod that messes with morris and if thats the case your log will help us here but otherwise its an sve issue

you can get the theatre through the community center route, morris isnt "needed" for anything you cant do otherwise unless you just really like him as an npc and want him in town

Ok, so you have a ridiculous amount of mods that are broken or listed as empty folders. I'd go through those and make sure they're properly installed. A fatal error that shows up on the smapi console but not in the log is indicative of a memory issue, so I'd also restart your computer just in case
yeah I did notice those :'3 I need to update them badly. Never had this happen before with the fatal error though, but my PC has been chugging a bit lately, so tha tmay be the issue
However, some of those I literally updated today, so I'm not sure why they say they are broken or outdated
I had it happen once before, random crashes with no record in the log, with the game sometimes loading and sometimes not. A restart of my pc fixed it completely
Depending on the mod they may just not be compatible with 1.6. I'm p sure entoarax has been deprecated for a while for example

yeah, I have an inactive mods folder I move stuff like this into in case they get updated in the future, so if there are no updates on ones like that I will move them 🙂
manually, but to be fair, I updated Dialogue UI Mask today and I just realised that means theres like a million folders in there and part of the installation process for that one is you are meant to pick one

Try on untilled soil/grass - some mods change hops to a bush (and if I recall you're running Cornucopia which does that)

Hi all! I posted a couple days ago about not being able to basically do anything with stardew without it completelly freezing or crashing and just wanted to update those who helped me. I have since resolved this!!! I know right. I'm not sure if anyone here is able to help but this is my last resort loll. I am on Linux (arch) and I have used SMAPI in the past and recently steam just seems to not be recognising it at all. No mods are working and I have re-installed the latest version of SMAPI maybe 8 times now. Nothing is working. If someone could please help that would be great

All of a sudden, my SdV is verrry janky and stutters (lags for a moment) consistently. Is there any way to determine which mod is causing this? I do happen to have the developer SMAPI. Any console commands to increase verbosity? Or do I just start unapplying mods until I find the culprit? Thanks!

It only listens for SMAPI events by default and doesn't catch every mod, but it is very useful most of the time since the offender is either using the update tick event or a CP mod that updates every frame or something

sorry if dumb question but in the middle of redownloading and organising all my mods to 1. organise my folder and 2. start from scratch so I can avoid conflicting errors and clean out old unused mods
I noticed json assets still hasn't had an update for 1.6 on nexus. Is this because it didn't require an update and will still work, is available elsewhere on another website, or will anything that uses json assets not work?
Json Assets has a 1.6 beta version under the main file. However, it's updated only to support old content mods that weren't migrated to 1.6, and you're better off seeing whether your JA mods have updated versions or successors that migrated away from JA
I'm sure there are several others on my very big list of mods that rely on JA, so I will look into each one and double check if they still use JA or moved to something else. Thanks! So, on the assumption I download this beta version that's available:
- If I have a mod that uses JA, but has not been updated since pre-1.6 will it still work?
- If I have a mod that now uses something alternative to JA and I download that also, will that alternative mod conflict with JA or will they both simultaneously work?
- it should still work, yes
- no conflicts, unless if you somehow also has its JA-using predecessor also installed, which may lead to weirdness
thats why I've done a complete do-over and redownloading things one by one into the folder 🙂 I suspect part of my previous errors is because of messy loose files shoved into one folder has meant old files have been left in there by mistake and may be causing conflicts

I am trying to install RSV on mobile. It says to use 1.5.6 in "old files" but I can't find that version. Is there an updated version for mobile? Did I overlook it? Any advice?

you dont want to use the cp version, the portraiture version works fine. just put the pngs into portraiture! also, if youre using pytk, Dont DSKJDS its dead for 1.6 and will mess things up

(this is still explicit but i will answer it for you quickly incase none of the other volunteers feel comfortable to do so) generally it depends. if one loads before the other that one will be the one that works but i believe if they both affect the same sprites smapi will just throw errors at you saying it wont load either because they affect the same things

nope! portrait mods still function fine without pytk, the way you want to install it is download portraiture, download that mod (the portraiture version, below CP) and copy the "DCBurger" folder within the portraits folder into your portraiture/portraits folder
pytk does not work for 1.6 and if you use it its highly likely to cause problems

it looks like youre using looking for love, which 1 . hasnt been updated in 2 years so is very broken, but 2 . is trying to load marnies barn which is where that cutscene happens and seems to be where youre breaking if your log is anything to go by . id remove it and potentially download this version, which does apparently work for 1.6 https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21370?tab=description
(also update content patcher, it will save you a lot of grief in the future)

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.
(See also the Nexus App feedback thread, if you want to help Nexus avoid the same issues in their upcoming replacement for Vortex.)

i unfortunately could not tell you as ive never used LFL or any of its variants . i assume it would mess up a bit?
otherwise in the original LFL mod it might be that youre not good enough friends with marnie or shane to enter the barn

so I've tried to download the newest version from the official website to use my favorites mods but the application still asking for a newer updates. is there anyone have answers here?
maybe? i believe since the redux still has willy as dateable you wouldnt have to break up with him, it might cause some dialogue weirdness and i know from the redux posts willy has some bugs but im not sure youd have to go that far

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

hi! i'm new to modded stardew and i've been trying to get SMAPI to work on my computer but am having an insane amount of trouble doing so. upon opening the game, SMAPI opens, runs the log, the screen freezes, and the game crashes after a few seconds. i have no other mods installed, so i can only assume SMAPI is the issue. my friend and i have been troubleshooting for hours and we can't figure it out. we've done everything from uninstalling/reinstalling SMAPI, uninstalling/reinstalling the game, deleting the save preferences file (i think that's what it's called?). went on basically every reddit thread i could find and tried every troubleshooting technique listed. i would love to be more descriptive but it's too much to remember, so i'm more than open to answering followup questions. here is the link to my log from SMAPI.io:

Ok - Here's what you need to do.
- Open your Start Menu, search for Windows Powershell. Launch it.
- In the console that appears, copy and paste the following, then press enter:
cd "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley"
- Afterwards, it should show that you're in the Stardew directory - Copy and paste the following, then press enter.
./"StardewModdingAPI.exe"
- SMAPI will attempt to launch - When it crashes, Powershell will hopefully show an error message - Take a screenshot of that and post it.

Yes - Hops, Blueberries, Coffee (I believe?) and a few others are bush based in Cornucopia

Hello guys, Im trying to update my SMAPI so that I can use content patcher and fashion sense, but when I try to reinstall smapi the box appears for a second then immediately disappears. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

To fix this:
From the start menu, search for Graphics Settings and open it. In the window that opens, click "Browse" near the top and choose SMAPI mascot.png StardewModdingAPI.exe in your game folder (or Stardew Valley executable icon.png Stardew Valley.exe if you play without mods). In the app list, click "Options" under StardewModdingAPI (or Stardew Valley if you play without mods). Change the Graphics preference to "High performance". Save. Check whether your issues still happen.
(you may also jsut close it temporarily)

Go to the folder where the "install on windows.bat" is at - Click the filepath at the top and copy the full path.
- Launch Powershell
- Do the following
cd "filepath"from when you got the path to your installer - Do the following
.\"install on windows.bat"
You'll need to grab the filepath where the file is first for the second step
I want to see if it generates an error - If not, we'll try launching the installer directly but it skips out on a couple of safety checks

Ah - you forgot to add the "cd" in front of the path on step 2. You're trying to launch from the wrong directory

Let's do this the semi-manual way. In your SMAPI installer folder, go to "internal", then "windows" - Run "Smapi.Installer.exe"

Quick question for my own reference atra - What gave away that it was a screen recorder that needed to be disabled? Would be useful to know what to look for.
ok finished my mammoth task of individually reinstalling every mod I wanted into mods folder to clean out old and outdated mods and it's helped significantly. I've gone from 60+ errors on my smapi log to only 14! 
Of these errors, a number of them seem to be affected by one mod missing a file "furyx639.FauxCore". However, I can't seem to find it anywhere. It didn't come with the mod in question, so I presumed it came with the mod that also goes by the same name "FauxCore". However, this lacks that file also. Is anyone familiar with this? How could I fix it?

yep all my mods are unzipped and in the mod folder, albeit organised into sub folders
both fauxcore and custom bush that is affected in the same folder together though
might just do a classic, remove file - put file back in :'3
Can you show the filepath of your subfolders?
If you have a mod at a higher level in the chain, it might have stopped SMAPI from directory-traversing
AFAIK, SMAPI will stop searching deeper into folders as soon as it finds a manifest.json, so if you have one at a higher level in the chain, it would stop
your essentials folder should be higher up
it should be the first thing smapi loads, so put like a fun character behind the m so it loads above everything else
I mean I just removed them and reunzipped the original downloads in there again and this time it worked :3 so haven't needed to move my folder orders
so its kind of fixed now!

Weird - Maybe something mangled the internal structure - Glad it's working now though.
The folder structure doesn't matter much as long as each mod has it's own folder, and is not nested in a folder containing mod files. SMAPI will find them all and load them in the right order based on their dependencies.

Yeah - unless I misunderstand it, SMAPI will basically do a depth-first traversal of each folder until it hits a manifest.json, at which point it assumes all remaining folders in that folder are part of the mod, so it backs up and moves on.
(i dont know what that means but thank you for the explanation anyway) 
I guess in simple terms SMAPI knows how to load them in order, you don't need to spoon feed it mods in the correct loading order like some other games? :'3

Yeah, and make sure each mod has its own folder. As in don't put Automate in the SpaceCore folder because Automate won't load.
You can put mods into folders to group them like "Essential Mods" assuming "Essential Mods" only contains the folders for mods and not any other files.

yeah I always unzip each mod into its own folder, I've just further organised them into categorised subfolders in the Mods folder to tidy it up :3

Have the host check to see if unlimited players is listed in the mod options menu - if they didn't implement the generic mod config mod, there's probably a config.json in the unlimited players folder.

I'm uncertain if this is a modded issue or not (I am using a modded farm layout; lnh's peaceful farm) but I cannot move my shipping bin. I can move any other buildings at Robins but for some reason it will not let me select the shipping bin to move. This is really bugging me 😦 Can anyone help?
nevermind it decided to work but only if you click on it like a million times it will suddenly acknowledge you are selecting the bin 🙃

is there a mod where I can place the "static decorative trees" from the main map (non-forageable trees) as an item? I want to be able to place these trees from Simple Foliage that are used across the main map as decorative items on my farm!
these will be the filepaths to your folders/files on your PC. So for example, my Filepath for my mods folder is E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods
you just copy and paste your respective filepath locations in each box

Looks like Uncanny Valley is not finding the tilesheet for this part of the map (SMAPI is throwing errors that the path does not exist) - first thing I'd recommend updating your mods to the latest version (Uncanny Valley, SpaceCore and Farm Type Manager and Clear Glasses) as Uncanny Valley needs an update already this "may" fix the issue so give it a try

It gives information in regards to the original mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12102) which is no longer compatible - the one currently in use is the 1.6 updated version which is a separate mod on Nexus so it looks abit confusing on the SMAPI compat page (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/22591) if you have this one then you do not need the unofficial fix from the forum

Ok, I apparently never noticed but Better Crafting is blocking Lookup Anything from opening for unknown recipes in the cooking menu - however, there is an easy workaround for it - hold down SHIFT key when you right click on the kitchen to open the cooking menu, the vanilla menu will come up instead of Better Crafting one temporarily, from here you can use Lookup Anything to view the unknown recipes (I'm going to have a quick look at Better Crafting documentation to see if this is expected, as I've been playing with it for so long and never noticed, so could be a recent incompatibility)

The GUI for the settings comes from GMCM (Generic Mod Config Menu) do you have it installed? You should be able to access the mod settings from the main menu of the game (or from within any existing save)

do you have any mods in that folder on your PC? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it; it's just telling you the folder is empty

Have you tried swapping in and out of the body mod? If it still shows no arms have there been any bug reports on the mods page about this?

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

uhh im not sure how but the bodies that got the arms removed seemed to always be there when i downloaded FS? and i think FS is already updated for 1.6. also this issue only happened after i downloaded the peach body mod, could something be up with that?

Cause I'm on mobile I can't translate the GH Body mod page currently, it appears to be updated to 1.6, but I'd try doing a fresh install of the mod

I'm stumped, but a search online shows that the peach body mod has caused this issue for other people, but are struggling to find fixes outside of a reinstall because the creator of the mod ahs explicitly asked people not to adjust even for personal use and to contact her instead, but they have yet to get replies or fixes. Maybe someone with better knowledge on these mods can help

Hmm there's a section relating to fashion sense:
"Adding accessories with Fashion Sense mode
Retech of existing cheek, eyelash, and lipstick that are widely used as accessory retech.
There is an issue where they cannot be used together, but there is a workaround using Get Glam mode." (I had to use Google translate)
can't say for certain that is 100% what's causing a problem on yours, but it does seem to be an issue that users of the mod have experienced before so we could assume
Note: I do not recommend using get glam it hasn't been updated for 1.6
And has been known to cause save duplicate corruptions
ah i see, i suppose for now i'll use the body mods that do have arms 
(me with get glam installed because a random mod I have required it)

i deleted the peach body mod, now my farmer has her arms back! it was that one
