hello, loaded stardew valley and i get a couple mods that are skipped over due to saying folders are empty, but they are not empty, and ideas?

Ok - Not gonna help with the second for obvious reasons, first and third, they need to go in the Portraiture folder.
It'll look like /Portraiture/Portraits/<MyFolder>/<NPCName.png>s

Yeah - Inside the Portraits folder, then inside a folder of your choice, then you put the images in.
Then in game, talk to someone and press P to switch between Portraiture folders until you find your portraits.

may i ask when it started happening?
just recently, it was running fine, then all of a sudden the game would crash. nothing too new in my mods folder and anything that is has no relation to furniture at all

Not to my knowledge. I'm not sure what other program there could be that would access my SV saves.
Something is holding control over the file - Are you running Stardew from a USB drive? (Doesn't look like it, but want to verify)

If you restart your computer, does the save issue persist? In theory, the restart would stop any processes using the file.
I just started to try modded SV a day or so ago, and wanted to try out SV expanded. This is my first time dealing with SV mods, and I only have Expanded and it's dependencies.

I mean - Does the game fail to save like this each time, or is this the first time it happened? Have you tried restarting your computer as fireredlily suggested (Which would have been my next suggestion)
Somehow you've got the save open in something else that's got a file lock on it, so Stardew can't edit and save the save game
Whenever I try to play modded, yes, this happens each time. With no mods, there is no issue saving.
Are you using a mod manager?
I am unable to play to day 2 in any modded game because of this.
Vortex, CurseForge, Stardrop, etc.

Ok - Let's rule out the 'dumb' possibility - Let's try the suggestion to reboot the computer, then see if it changes anything.

If it happens again, then something about your modded environment is potentially corrupting the save file

I'd guess that it sees an unrecognized .exe trying to write, and steps in to scan the file

Your mod list was nice and simple, and something had to be grabbing physical control of the file, so it was just a matter of running down the list of potential issues - Glad it worked.
I don't see anything that stands out as related to Happy Home Designer, so it might be a mod interaction issue. Does it happen every time you open the catalogue with no exception?

Hmm - I'm concerned about the fact that Spacecore and JsonAssets are failing a Harmony Patch - They're both well known and should be stable.
Can I have you try removing JsonAssets, then launching the game and triggering the crash again?

I'm a little used to getting a long load time but this ones a little odd. Now I am getting a pretty long wait time and no sound of the save
I even tried loading the precious save and removing json assets caused that file to crash

Scratch the previous message - if you have CJB Item Spawner installed, you should be able to find the Home Designer item and just spawn it in on a new save.

But realistically, it looks like it tried to find a portrait for the horse but couldn't. Could you link which mod added it? I suspect Pet Portraits CP 1.0.0 might be the source of the error, but can't verify yet

I'm trying to figure out which mod generated the error, but Glastrier is returning no useful results - Are you seeing issues in game or just in the log?

In which case, I wouldn't worry about it for now - I'm not sure which mod is generating the error, but Glastrier is a Pokemon? which is the only info I'm getting - You have Altaria Horse Replacer, but the code for that is fairly simple and doesn't look like the cause
So you might have a texture replacer with bad code

Okay, modifying my question a bit to give some context:
There is a mod making it so I can't plant mixed seeds and I think it has to do with the fact that there is ANOTHER mod that is making mixed seeds Edible. I'm trying to find a short cut to find that mod to remove it to to test it. Or any mods that might affect the rules of planting mixed seeds in general. I know Item extensions, I checked it, it's not the cause, I just tested Re-mixed seeds, that's also not the issue.
Is there a shortcut for that?

I don't think the error is related to any of the incompatible mods. Because as far as I can tell, the mod changing the mixed seed IS working as intended. I just want to find out what it is because I want to remove it
Can you remove RemixedSeeds and see what happens? From the looks of it, a lot of this mod was hand built compatibility

Also I'm going to be a bit blunt, but you really really need to clean out that modlist. If you don't want to delete the mod so you can look for it later, stuff it in a folder outside of the Mods folder.

It can deal, I used to have over 3k in 1.5.
The real issue is I need to get the mixed seeds problem out of the way so that I can check that there isn't any error with mods like item extensions or any of the other crop mods
everything else is easy to fix
So how do I run the game with the mods?
Yup - I can't figure it out from your log and there's way too much content in there to start looking things up.
You get the fun one - Time to binary split your mod list. Find the core framework mods and put them in a folder (within Mods) so that you keep the prerequisites like spacecore, content patcher, etc.
Then, move half of your mods somewhere else, boot, try to plant mixed seeds (You'll need to debug spawn them in on a new save), repeat. If the error goes away, congrats, it's somewhere in the pile of mods you moved out. If not, cut your modlist in half again and repeat.

The launch options part if youre using steam
If you're doing it through XboxGames, you have to add a shortcut to StardewModdingAPI.exe and launch it from there
It's in the same folder as the main Stardew Valley

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

I erased SVE and still having loading issues.

ooh i found one by searching 'map'
Okay here's some things to do to troubleshoot:
- Update More Giant Crop locations & Spacecore
- Do a fresh install of Earthy recolour (delete and reinstall)
- Remove Pytk Lite
(For other errors):
- Install JSON Assets
- Remove GreenhouseUpgrades as it hasn't been updated since 2021 and doesn't work with 1.6

Json assets was last updated 22 April 2024 so it's compatible with 1.6
Ok this seems to have fixed it as far as i can tell. however playing without mods is not worth it for me rn, so I'm gonna keep searching for a solution for the modded version

so i thought it would get rid of the %command% launch option.

Probably has to do with the update manifest. Since there is a newer version for 1.6 it's trying to have some sort of update even though the .dll is there in the files.
I already deleted it and downloaded it again. Might have to solo it.
Older versions run the dll but the newer versions don't.

But now Json Assets is doing it.
They don't work.
I found a way to use the newer versions that have a missing dll.
And would you like to inform the crowd how you managed it lol
I replaced the dll's with older versions.
So basically when you use a newer version of SpaceCore and Json Assets and they say, "Dll can't be loaded." Replace the dll's with dll's from older mods that worked.
I don't know how I figured this shit out.

My stuff now runs mods that normally wouldn't work unless it's the newest version. I've been playing just fine.
No problems at all.
But it may just be a chance so I'll have to rerun stuff to see if it's just a one time thing for me.

what would I have to do as prep for playing with a mod? would there be problems if I loaded up a vanilla save file with a PC with mods installed?
It depends on the type of mod but generally not a issue to go from vanilla to modded. The main thing you have to watch out for is mods that change a map that you had things in, for example changing the greenhouse map may mess up your crops which won't get moved to match new map
This is one of the big reasons why installing sve mid playthrough is discouraged: it changes many vanilla maps

No idea what's going on with Smapi for my game, but I'm getting non-game breaking errors that keep popping up for specific NPC's. I've reinstalled SVE multiple times, and still get the same warp errors in Smapi.

The warp ones come up quite frequently though I don't know what causes them.
But the larger block orange one is for Bubba, an NPC from A New Dream - I know the author did some changes to Bubba not long ago so I would recommend completely removing the mod and installing the most recent version (you are currently one version file behind)
I'm using mobile, how can i fix the crashing of smapi sdv
I only have two theories about the warping but I either have them disabled, or can't access them until I reach Ginger Island. The farm map "Legacy Farm", has a tree where you can warp anywhere (can't disable) but I can't access it yet (I hope I won't have to delete my farm, im year 2 winter). Other one, is Hector's dumpster warp, but I have that uninstalled.

The first one: is an empty folder is just that
You have an assets folder that's just empty check your mods folder
The second one: is no longer compatible. It means exactly that. It won't work with your version of smapi/the game but you can follow that link it provides to see if there's a comparable mod

I don't think Legacy Farm is related in this case, digging a bit more into the warp errors they are all related to a warp leading back to a map that "should" be East Scarpe, but it might be calling the wrong warp name, not easy to guess which other mod it could be... but generally these are pretty harmless warnings usually
So the red errors you got have nothing to do with that unless it's the empty assets folder

The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false

xnb is an old type of modding you can still find in the Korean modding scene because all the content patcher documenation is in english
when you mod with XNBs they are actually replacing the games files

the way it would work is if you took this camilla png and overwrote SVE's camilla png with it
now usual advice is don't do this because overwriting files is generally speaking a bad idea
but with portraits its a little differnt

among other things, "split" is generally for compressing only, you only repeat a password when you're setting it, not entering it

you have a couple other problems that are almost certainly due to out-of-date mods, so i would recommend updating as much as you can
in particular, walk of life is complaining that your UI Info Suite is too old, and Juliet & Jessie seems to be looking for an outdated map name in East Scarp

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Smapi doesn't have any part in the mod downloading process

If you find a working mod that isn't on there, submit it by following the instructions here.

Do you have sound at all, even with the black screen? Trying to narrow down possibilities
uhm where is the ''SMAPI-crash.txt'' thing
If you temporarily disable all but the default mods (So in this case, Save Backups and Console Commands), does the black screen still happen on the title screen? You can check pretty quickly by moving them all into a new folder inside Mods and a putting a . in front of the folder name so SMAPI skips over them.

If it fixes, then one of your mods is causing the issue directly, and you can continue on tomorrow by doing half and half testing of your mods by pulling groups of them out and testing each time. If it doesn't, you may need to reset your game files and reinstall SMAPI.
btw now it shows me this but it doesnt launch tho
after a long time waiting it finally launched but it goes so laggy and it freezes, it crashes when i try to use the windows button to use any other app (chrome discord etc)

So… for some reason a Smapi error log or a regular smapi log arent created after i launch stardew valley with mods installed. Also tried reinstalling the game to refresh everything, and the mods folder waa gone and didnt regenerate upon reinstallation… anyone know why this might happen? I play using steam
Gonna try uninstalling everything again, reinstall smapi, and redownload my mods, and hope for the best
What operating system are you on? I believe resetting the game files on a Mac attempts to remove SMAPI's components entirely, which may be why the folder was gone.
The Mac OSX implementation is a special case because of how it hooks into the game.

In that case, are you using any antivirus program? They can sometimes prevent SMAPI from installing correctly.
Does anyone recognize what mod retextures the pine trees into this? I looked through the different mods I have, from Vanilla Tweaks to Cornucopia Trees retextured, but they don't have the png files to make them look like that. Really? That's so weird cuz I used a different foliage retexture before and Earthy Recolour didn't override the trees
It may still be worth temporarily pausing it while you install SMAPI and then, if that generates the Mod folder correctly, creating an exception for it in Norton 360. Antivirus programs can change how they work unexpectedly, so something that wasn't blocked before may be blocked now.
Alternatively, confirm that you don't have two installs of Stardew or SMAPI by mistake, and that your target path is correct in the installer.
Cuz now I'm using Dustbeauty's Stardew Foliage Redone, but I guess the recolour is overriding that somehow
The two installs might be the problem xD i have steam on my laptop and on my moms gaming pc so ive had to download things twice
In that case, make sure that your StardewModdingAPI.exe file is in the same place as the Stardew Valley game you were running! If they're in separate folders, or on separate drives, then you might have accidentally installed SMAPI to the wrong one!
Or otherwise might be using the wrong launch path. 🙂
Theyre both on my external harrdrive, just in two different folders, one for steam on my laptop and the other for steam on my moms pc. But i did a system search previously for the files, and they were nowhere to be found
I'm not entirely sure how SMAPI and Stardew Valley/Steam interact with external harddrives, to be honest. Typically you'd have StardewModdingAPI.exe in your Steam game folder, alongside the normal game.
if you have stardew in two places on your PC, you have to have smapi in the place you're running from.
it breaks otherwise.

that place being on an external isn't an issue - steam/gog handles that just fine. but smapi needs to be in THAT folder, not some other external drive folder.
Yeah the stardewmoddingapi.exe is there in the steam folders, both on my external harddrive, its just the error files and smapi-latest files that it doesnt create for some reason

Error logs are not stored in the Steam game folder, those are stored in your AppData folder instead, which is tied to your computer's user folder..

I also play SDV on an external hard drive. You have to do workarounds where you have to basically force Steam to save/update files on the hard drive when it usually auto saves on the PC

I just saved the entire Steam folder on my hard drive, and then I did some steps where I did a redirect function of some sort so that files would save on that external Steam folder and SMAPI runs the folder in the hard drive
I don't have this issue. the saves go to the main drive.
/appdata/roaming/stardewvalley/saves (mirrored to the errorlog file), but the saves work functionally fine. If you need the saves on not the main drive, then yes.

I have and old folder with an mods folder with needed stuff inside, so ill put it in there. I tend to save old mods in so i can check to see which ones updated etc
Its just the console commands and save backup files i was concerned about not getting

Is this a thing? It seemed to be related to using (or not using) proton
And which runs better on steam deck?
I intend to play SDV in game mode on my SD, btw

I have got Json Assets and SpaceCore to work but now every time I go into my save, it takes me back to the main menu.
How do I fix this issue?

SpaceCore has some sort of thing saying it cannot register a save or something like that.

getting an issue with automate im using a regular chest with a regular furnace and its not recognizing the machine group(red highlighted squares) and not pulling from the chest, using vanilla ores

Watched my smapi console to make sure and I got the warning when I went into that ||clothes cutscene where Emily/sandy dresses you up at the desert festival|| and my horse’s modded sprite didn’t show up and was only a shadow until the cutscene ended
Doesn’t seem to affect my game other than that so I’ll just ignore it

Hii can someone help me? I tried downloading the ui info suite mod and it keeps saying these:

i downloaded both and i use vortex

I don't think the Seasonal Garden Farmhouse mod likes the mix of Polyamory Sweet and Custom Spouse rooms mod 😅 I'm trying to figure out how to configure it but its pretty complicated for me. If anyone can help me with the placements of the rooms that would be helpful cuz I'm big dummy. (ill draw out what rooms i want where so its not in the way of the existing rooms from SGF) I kept looking at the GitHub for the room examples but none of it made sense to me and no one seemed to have this exact issue with all mods

Hey anyone got a clue to why my seasonal decor keeps reverting to spring?
Breaking and replacing them turns them back into winter, but when load the save again later, they're spring again
still messed up but its better, i just dont know how to move the rooms now
It also seems that whenever I edit something from the config menu or leave and come back the rooms disappear

I did start a new file and I haven't encountered this before but I last played several SVE builds ago
i think on a new save it should be fine from the start so could be some other problem. but if it fixes itself automatically it's fine anyway
so i removed the custom spouse room mod because it seemed to be conflicting with PolyamorySweet, but i still want to move the rooms, anyone know how to do that or if its possible? Im sorry if im sending a lot of messages here.

Just a heads up, I seem to have somehow resolved this problem (weird error with missing key component:inside).
Trying to use a different farmhouse mod (tried both Aimon’s fancy farmhouse: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/14411 and LNH’s first farmhouse https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/17526) seems to be causing this crash, although that’s just by inference. Haven’t crashed since we went back to vanilla house.
I also removed the market town mod. So not exactly sure if the problem is solved or if these solved it but haven’t been crashing lately so 🤷🏻♂️ .

Oh I also updated space core as I saw it recently had an update. So that could have also resolved

The missing locations from those menus is a known/reported issue with the Bus Locations Fix for 1.6 mod, hopefully the dev is working on it!

i believe this issue is from sword & sorcery, which is currently in alpha, make sure you get the latest version from their discord server, rather than nexus

yeah it just started happening today after i updated that mod and one other, i guess that makes sense
in that case you should report your issue to that server 
something else to try is to remove and place again all your affected flooring
The only immediate issues I see are that there is a rather significant mod mismatch between these logs, and the initial red error seems to be related to PIF and the Backyard areas, which I am guessing is caused by Cozy Backyard (PIF)
CWZ_ToolPouch is also causing an issue on NewDayStart which is likely your issue with not being able to save

I've been looking up how to install mods on Steam Deck. It says to download and install SMAPI. Does that mean that I'd download on my PC and transfer to my Steam Deck, or does the Steam Deck itself allow me to use a web browser and download stuff? My Steam Deck is still in the shipping process, so I don't have it yet. But it would be good to know. Thanks. 🙂
i don't think you do. i think you go to each mod's nexus page and download them all individually
i don't actually know, but the SMAPI zip contains installers for all three major PC operating systems, so whatever way you get it onto the deck is fine. once it's there, you use the linux installer
(and make sure you install the linux version of the game! i hear some people end up with the windows version running through Proton, which makes it difficult to use SMAPI)
Oh. Does Steam Deck not automatically install the most compatible version of the game?
i don't have one, so i can't be any more help than that. i only know i've seen/heard of people running the windows version on their steam decks

you can force it to use Linux! there's one layer that's not proton, iirc Linux runtime it's called, and when choosing that it'll use the Linux version.
which option is the native one can be seen on steam deck on the library page for the game under game info, it will say which layer it uses like "Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout) selected by Valve testing."

anyway, browse your local files of stardew - there should be a "save-backups" folder. Unzip the most recent one (and if it's not in there, the second most recent), find your file, then put it in your save folder

The save folder is in an entirely different area from save-backups, so don't get confused on where to put it.

Can you check them out?
You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.
There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

Hi everyone!! Sorry to interrupt the convo here but I’m new to using modded worlds and my game keeps getting these little freezes every so often. I have a suspicion it might be coming from SVE since my content patcher keeps giving me messages like “ignored blah blah.” Any way I can troubleshoot or fix it? Or even figure out if this is what’s causing it? The freezing get increasingly longer the longer I play on a load. Any advice is appreciated! 
I’ve wondered if it’s event replayer as well. I’m using it so another mod can function. If anyone happens to know if this might be my problem please let me know, thanks
