i actually cant even load into the day. after character creation itll display an odd screen. i can see the farmhouse for a spilt second and hear the coin sound, but itll crash immediately after
And the issues go away if you pull Market Town out? What happens if you run only Market Town + Required Dependencies but no other mods?
i tried without market town, and it loads fine, but i have yet to load only market town

Worst case, if you have ConsoleCommands installed (Which you should) and don't mind 'cheating', you should be able to do

Yeah - It should have come installed with SMAPI unless you deleted it.
And yeah - It shouldn't be required for the community center unless there's a way to get it beforehand, but mod authors do make continuity mistakes

Yeah - It's either Mutant Bug Lair only, which is a progression error, or it might spawn in the mines on mushroom floors. Best I can tell you unfortunately.

So I've updated Custom Spouse Room locations, but it says I'm missing required mods for it to run. When I already have everything listed in nexus..

I just found out that you can mod stardew valley on mobile so i installed smapi and some mods when i start up smapi stardew valley it crashes

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Hope this is the right place for this. I just installed the Health Bars mod (the version updated for 1.6) and now SMAPI won't launch. The cmd window flashes on the screen then closes before i see anything and SMAPI stops running. I've tried re-installing SMAPI, disabling the mod and regular stardew runs fine. I use vortex. I've checked and there are no error logs. Can anyone help?
Can you try to get a log from when it opens then immediately closes? If there's nothing there, we can take a deeper look. Vortex is recommended against in general, but I don't want to blame it yet

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.
(See also the Nexus App feedback thread, if you want to help Nexus avoid the same issues in their upcoming replacement for Vortex.)

I've tried following the instructions to get a log but there's nothing in the folder. Give me a minute while i search my for the files it may be called just in case it is stored somewhere else
why does it just keep saying this, when I already updated the necessary mods, it's smapi that is having errors
It may not be generating a log if it's crashing too early, but there should be a log file from when you've launched SMAPI without the mod - Are you in the right directory?
I should be. I'm following the links instructions and it's bringing me to the error logs folder. It may be somewhere in vortex but even hitting the "SMAPI log" button just gives me a "no SMAPI logs found" notif.

No, that is the correct directory, so that's odd it's not showing up unless the crash is right after it deletes the old version.
Do you have your modlist setup right now where it's crashing on launch?
Yes. It was working fine before I installed health bars. Honestly if it's recommended that I run SMAPI through steam direct and not vortex I'd be happy re-installing the mods that way (and probably reinstalling stardew to be safe). Just won't install the health bars mod.
Yeah - Before we do that - If it's currently in the state where it's crashing on launch, can I have you do the following.
- Open the start menu, search for Powershell, and launch Windows Powershell
- Type or copy paste the following
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley"and hit Enter.
It should move Powershell to the Stardew Valley folder, then run the following.
.\StardewModdingAPI.exe
Then, if it closes on launch, take a screenshot of the Powershell window and post it here.

Please reset your game files. This will fix any broken game files, but won't affect your save files or mods.

other ones have downloaded today so idgi. i feel like the site is being broken. when i select the other download option it just shows a loading wheel for a second then does nothing and keeps poping up the donate thing

Check this mod out https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21233 - there is a section in the options (it's disabled by default as classed as cheaty) under "Placing" section where it allows you to place items without collision - you'll need to test to see if it does overlapping the way you need it. If you couple this mod with Let's Move it https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/20943 you can also pick things up and move them anywhere on screen, so out of bounds, on water, etc (this one has added protection to not overwrite other objects so please do check the options and any faq's)
Build and Place Anything Anywhere lets you build, farm, or place furniture / objects anywhere, including things like beds and rugs! It adds the greenhouse as a blueprint to build and adds functionalit

Hi, I had to write this outside of discord bc no nitro, so there's gonna be a few messages relating to this that I'll copy and paste
Hello, I thought I'd post in here since I've been trying to fix this for a while, in case anyone had any thoughts on it. I will give as much information I can possibly think of.
I am having a stutter every time the clock changes and I am walking/the camera is moving. I've actually had 2 instances of this bug; the first time I was able to narrow it down to an Orangeblossom mod that was causing the problem and remove it, and the game worked very smoothly for about a year in-game. But this time, I have not reinstalled that mod or anything by Orangeblossom, and it is happening again. I'm even more confused this time, because I thought it would be a simple fix.. I had recently installed a couple new mods when I noticed the stutter again, so I simply removed them, but the problem continued anyway. I spent quite a bit of time going through my mods to try and find the problem, and a few times I thought I had pinpointed it by enabling and disabling mods and removing them, only for it to somehow start again after the removal. I was starting to suspect that maybe it wasn't a mod problem at all, but when I opened the game vanilla, there was no stutter. In addition to this, a few weeks ago I went over to a friend's house to install a modpack (different from the current one) on their computer so we could play together. At that time, I had no stuttering or any problems whatsoever, but installing the exact same modpack with the same configs on theirs made their computer stutter. I haven't been able to fix it for them yet either, I wanted to include that because that is giving me the impression that it is not mod-specific and might even be related to something external to the game.
More (potentially) relevant info: I use Casual Life, so the clock updates every second instead of every 7 seconds and causes the stutter more often. The first time I had this problem I disabled that mod and the stutter still happened, just only when the clock changed, which was less often. Also, I use quite a lot of mods (I think ~600?) but as mentioned before, this has happened with multiple different mod lists/counts and computers. I also have a pretty good gaming laptop that I've had no problem with for the vast majority of other games, and my friend also has an excellent gaming PC. I also use Stardrop for managing my mods.
Now onto some troubleshooting that Iโve already tried, but I might have forgotten a few other attempts as well.

Verifying game files
Restarting my computer
Updating graphics driver
Reinstalling smapi
Making sure smapi/stardrop/mods are up to date
Editing graphics settings
Editing windows defender settings and making exceptions
Altering processor affinity
Altering process priority
Altering various settings in Nvidia Control Panel and Nvidia Geforce Experience, including disabling/reenabling vsync
Making sure the dedicated graphics card is used
Switching through fullscreen/windowed/borderless
Setting in-game audio sliders to 0
Unplugging controller and using mouse/keyboard
Reducing mod count
Deleting bigger mods
Using the lighter version of a few specific mods such as Diverse Stardew Valley
Disabling/reenabling integrated graphics card
Screaming into the void
Zooming in/out in-game
Checking refresh rate (I found that there is only one option and it is 60.03hz, I have never had issues with this)
Running stardew/smapi/stardrop as administrator

I have reinstalled all of the mods I was using and have been disabling.reenabling to show the full mod list I was using when and before the problem started. Oh and as far as I can tell, that polyamory sweet rooms error isnโt affecting anything, I did also try removing that though just in case, to no avail. Thanks again

what usually causes this is a mod that updates every tick (that's the clock change).~~ you can try using the mod "profiler" to see if there's anything that takes particularly long with every change of the clock~~ i see you already did that

That looks like Automate is the cause, taking a whooping 400ms per update tick.
How many chests do you have?
You can partially remedy the problem by reducing the update rate in Automate's config

To add, try disabling PFMAutomate. I believe automate support has been folded into PFM and there are issues reported with PFMAutomate (though this would prevent your PFM-based machines from being automatable)

I was ready to ask support on the mods folder not being accessible without root permission, so mod files not accessible by smapi, but i resolved with chmodding the entire Mods folder adding write permission for everyone, an elegant solution
Honestly, the fact that it doesn't say "you can't load this save because no cabins" is a Stardew issue (TM) - A usable warning/error message would have solved the issue.
So don't feel bad about missing something like this, there's a lot of small things that most folks will never notice or think about (Such as marriages requiring larger houses) unless they run into the use case where it just doesn't work. It wasn't your fault, and there's nothing to feel embarassed about.

okay so: I saw your problem yesterday already, and since you're on steam deck, I am wondering whether this isn't due to mods, but maybe due to a set of custom controls that don't let you access the game
when you are testing if it works, are you testing in game mode, or in desktop mode?
I think Profiler only handles SMAPI events (by default), so if a mod's hammering the game's draw functions or smth it wouldn't be captured
yeah but if it's through CP for example it just pins it on content patcher

mhm, every time the clock updated. basically every second that the camera is moving and the time passed it would freeze for a split second. or, well, maybe its better described by a screen tear? like, the textures would slightly shift and then go back to normal but because it updates every second its happening pretty much constantly

I'm not exactly sure what could be causing this - I usually do a 50/50 approach with this, and use stardrop so I don't have to manually pull all mods out of the folder
this is a long shot, but can you follow these instructions to enable CP debug mode and post a new log? It'd slow your game even more (so make sure to disable it when done), but hopefully it'll show what's being updated every second

Only conflict I see in the log is that you've got two different mods fighting for control of the greenhouse, so neither are being applied

That might be Tool Power Select
Hold down the click, then scroll to switch between charge sizes
As for your other issue in the log, you've got Immersive Farm competing with Ellie's Greenhouse
If you want the Immersive one, remove Ellies, if you want Ellies, go to your configuration for Immersive Farm and set Disable_IF2R_Greenhouse

Ok - I could be wrong since I just did some quick googling, but it looks like the 1.5 edition of Walk of Life was removed from Nexus when it got rolled into MARGO for 1.5.
The unfortunate thing is that MARGO for 1.5 was removed once 1.6 came out, so I don't think there's an equivalent right now unless I'm missing something.
As far as a replacement goes, I'd ask in #modded-stardew , they might have an idea what can replace it

In one of the bug threads, someone mentioned an incompatibility between it and Mobile Phone. I had the same issue as you, and removing it (and the Public TV mod it was a requirement for) fixed it for me. Would have loved the TV mod, but Mobile Phone is an absolute must-have in my opinion, so... yeah.

I would highly recommend looking into purchasing the game for yourself. It's relatively cheap, and with a legally obtained copy you'll be able to enjoy the 1.6 update. You'll also have an easier time getting help, as many people, myself included, don't troubleshoot pirated copies

this is desktop mode yeah. but what's with the 8 smapi errors? whenever i launch with smapi via star drop its a huge issue. i launch the game, the mods don't load and i'm softlocked at the title screen
It looks like you put the stardrop folder inside Mods, which you shouldnt (only actual mods should go there)
As for softlocking, maybe the desktop isn't grabbing your focus correctly. Long shot but try tapping on the touchscreen?

What you need to know is that a symlink is kinda like a shortcut
And the smapi follows them
And that stardrop makes them
A symlink loop is what happens when you have a bunch of symlink pointed in a circle
If you're blindly following them you just go into the loop and never leave

Hello everyone, I am very new to modding SV and I have a question. I have vortex set up to have different mod profiles for SMAPI so that I can simply load and unload the mods I want or don't want for a specific session, however, I have noticed that no matter what profile I play on, I will still be able to see and load into my vanilla characters or different modded characters. My question is, would it be possible for me to have SMAPI use different directories to save characters to so that when I am on modded SV there is no risk of me accidentally loading into a vanilla profile and potentially corrupting my saves?

Saves are all in one directory - the appdata folder - and stay that way, sadly

- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.

So, meet everyone else, fulfill the basic terms of the quest, then just 'complete' it since you did the work anyways.
Can anyone help me with the quests in SVE? I managed to get my game modded on Android somehow (which means I'm still on 1.5, of course), and, as far as I can see, I have all of the proper support files, but none of the major SVE quests are working (Grandpa's shed, the railroad Boulder, etc.) I managed to fake my way past the railroad quest with the inject mail command I found on Reddit somewhere (nothing else worked), but I can't find a similar command for the other quests that are stuck (currently the farm expansion and Grandpa's shed).
Debug eventseen is not working in either instance.

It says in my log that SVE isn't compatible but it is all working fine except those quests. Idk if it's buggy because it's technically an old version? I did download the proper file for legacy versions (1.5)

Not that I've noticed. I reloaded the day and haven't gotten it again. Just couldn't figure out what was causing it since it listed multiple mods in the error log.

Yeah - doesn't seem to be causing issues from what I saw on Nexus, it's an issue with the Harmony patch where they missed a null case inside the mod. I suspect the only issue you'll have is that the trashcan will give you nothing, which is what you would likely get anyways

i've been modding my game for a while now and recently started doing that using the stardrop mod manager. i tried to download a simple Content Patcher Mod but I keep getting an error saying something like "manifest.json" not found. I tried a different Content Patcher mod. and same error.
Is stardrop or smapi giving you that error

smapi said "its not a smapi mod" but likely because it doesnt follow the template for smapi mods (aka missing that said file)
so in total its 4. 2 of them were just harvey portrait mods, and 2 were new portraits for every single character, its 2 because i downloaded vanilla and SVE version. the vanilla version worked fine, no errors, SVE same manifest.json error. Both harvey mods also gave me the error and one of them i tried to install manually but no luck still
Sometimes portraits for non-vanilla characters arent content patcher mods, and instead have you replace the image files

So none of those are content patcher mods
You should read the descriptions on mod pages and on the file downloads themselves for instructions on how to install them correctly
As for the xnb mods, i would recommend finding some other portraits unless you want to convert them to content patcher yourself
SVE if i remember correctly had a specific patch to work on android, which you get from their discord
The SVE discord may also be of better help with these issues

Also, Nyapu's at least makes their file structure in such a way that you'd just need to copy the folder and replace. (Also has visual guide on its main page).

Hm the seasonal Haley doesn't have a manifest
After reading the mod in more depth it completes the set for the latest version of Seasonal Cuter Aesthetic.
For the original mod you can either use the content patcher version (EDIT: Which will be NON-Seasonal) and place it into your mods folder or use the image replacer version (For the Seasonal Portraits)
Description indicate that you are meant to put it inside seasonal cuter aesthetic

sure, you do it the same as any other item, but you use the modded item's ID
Im not sure if im just not finding the ID correctly; i did list_items in console, and I input that ID into the ledger where its supposed to go, but it returns error item.
(you can get that from its data files)
and assuming you're adding them via content patcher, you probably want to put When conditions on your patches to check whether the appropriate mod is installed (although if it's just for you, you can skip that, since you know you'll have it)

i really hope this is the right channel for this, but i have a friend who absolutely cannot manage to get mods to download, admittedly it's a patience issue on their part, but like. i can't really blame them its very frustrating.
my question is does anyone know if the steam save cloud will save any mods across two different computers? i live too far away to go to their house and take care of it. can't find any resources telling me one way or another.

Try re-adding Content Patcher manually and bypassing Vortex for this. It can sometimes take a nibble out of files.
How do I bypass Vortex?
Use the Manual Download option for Content Patcher on the NexusMods site, which should get you a ZIP file
Extract that ZIP file, and move the folder it gives you to the Mods folder, AFTER removing the Content Patcher folder that is already in the Mods folder.
So delete the content patcher from the Mods folder and move the new one there?

Overwriting the files can cause weird issues so you're better off completely removing the old mod file (though you can move your config.json to the new mod folder if you're ever using a mod that's relevant)
You can either use the Extract All option from File Explorer or use WinRAR, since you have WinRar according to your screenshot. ๐

If you have a modified Nintendo Switch running custom firmware, there are some limited options for you to use mods.
Option 1:
- Install Ubuntu
- Get 1.5.4 Stardew Valley via DepotDownloader.
- Follow the this guide.
- Install SMAPI (version 3.12.8)
- Run it via
mono StardewModdingAPI - You can use most 1.5.4 mods, but some won't work (such as Custom Music)
Option 2 - Place XNB mods in
sdmc:/atmosphere/contents/0100E65002BB8000/romfs/Content/, as if this was your game's content folder (as in.../romfs/Content/Characters/Caroline.xnb) - This limits you to XNB mods and outside of simple retextures will largely break by 1.6. See here for details.
Option 3
Basically the same as Option 2, but with a mod manager for easier management. - Install iridium https://github.com/AnotherPillow/Iridium, instructions in the README.
- Place your XNB mods in
sdmc:/switch/Iridium/Mods/[MOD NAME]/as if this folder was the Content folder of the game. - Same restrictions and issues as Option 2, but you can turn mods off and on and know what mods are controlling which files.

SMAPI errors seem to complain about textures missing from the Cottagecore Furniture Pack by 8BitAlien (though it doesn't necessarily mean it's the root cause) but you can start by removing and reinstalling that mod to start with and see if it helps - by then someone more experienced might pop by and see if there is anything else in the log that could help
Is it overlapping Bog's with Vanilla texture or some other texture - do you have a screenshot if you are not sure?
Hmm, not sure, I cannot see anything obvious (but my knowledge is limited) the only other thing I'd recommend is getting rid the three mods that are marked as deprecated (Multi Yield Crops, Prismatic Tools and Shop Tile Framework) - they don't work for the 1.6 game version

That's usually because the authors miss updating the manifest number - it is likely already in the right version

hey just wanted to say thanks for everyones help yesterday, with the verbose log sylph walked me through i was able to find the specific mods and fix it pretty quickly!:) it was mostly dusty overhaul and i think also a dynamic window mod like pokky mentioned๐ yall rock!
SMAPI is having issues loading with CurseForge. I updated a mod and I restarted it; but its still not going. Ill let you know if it starts or not!

ok so this is a weird question (maybe) but are some mods only needed by the host I.e no friendship decay? im running SMAPI with a few mods (UI info suite 2, some cosmetic mods and no friendship decay) and my friend whos playing vanilla doesnt have any issues joining my game so does it work or does it automatically disable mods?

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.
There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

friend refuses to mod stardew valley because the first game hes every modded was fallout NV so he thinks all games modding are like that

There are some mods you can get away with not matching

CP Textures aren't showing up for my craftables but working for furniture, started a few days ago but works has kept me busy and forgetting to ask for help. Also, updated farm type manager today and now have a plethora of lines from it in smapi, not sure if thats an issue or not.

If you look at the red errors in your log, you've got a few mods that either need fixing or removing.
PyTK is there twice (PyTK Dummy and PyTK Lite) so you should only have one. SAAT, Extra Map Layers and possibly ShopTileFramework are deprecated and can be removed entirely.
And there are a few more listed in there that just need 1.6 versions installed (they may show up as 'alpha' in the other files), or need to be removed because they won't run in 1.6
