which directory do you have vortex / your game in
based solely on the three seconds of googling i did (LMFAOOO apolocheese) its widely either an issue with the drive youre using, as its not formatted in NTFS, or vortex and your game are installed on two different drives

it looks to me like you have vortex and your game on two different drives
youre going to have to reinstall vortex and put it the same place as your game, having them on different drives basically means vortex has no idea where its supposed to go unless you reformat your d drive which is probably not the best idea

mod managers are funny like that DSKJHDKS we typically recommend installing mods manually or using stardrop if youre going to use a mod manager, since it was made specifically for stardew valley, but i couldnt tell you if it works since i install all my mods manually ;;; youd have to ask someone else on that front

steam > stardew valley > settings > manage > browse local files
scroll until you see the regular stardew valley application, not the modding api

Hello everyone, I have some questions, I just re installed the game after changing my OS disk for a new one, and my game is crashing after running the game with smapi, I copied the parameter that smapi provides to steam launch parameters
I tryed running it without smapi and is working fine
I'm using smapi 4.0.8 and 1.6.6 of stardew
i mean .. a lot of your mods are outdated so id probably start there, but the exceptions im seeing only really come from recipes with one tilesheets mod for furniture

I can't get ferngill simple economy's forecast tab to show any data. I have tried deleting and uninstalling, shipping thigns and sleeping and reopening the game.

I want SVE, but the vanilla map is gonna bug me. I love the toned down earthy look but itās just not happening
your recolor may have SVE compatibility files available (or maybe a config setting). i would check for those first

im having a modding issue, where the SMAPI from nexus keeps repeating the same things and loading into a save causes the game to stop responding indefinitely
Curious if it should be ok to remove content patcher mods while in a multiplayer farm? Or just mods in general? Our farm is being weird and it's in year 2 now, we did ignore the warning text but now it's becoming more apparent things are wrong and we wanna clean up the mods folder.
@wanton salmon THANK YOU!! Got the update and I was able to get the primary/secondary actions working how I like. Just one more thing: The way it works now is thumbstick release cancels out of the radial menu. I would like to set thumbstick release to select the highlighted item (my primary action). Could this feature be one you would consider? š

I think it depends on the mods, tbh. You can always make a backup and see what happens
go into steam and erase the game path you put in when you were setting up smapi, and then try and run the game

im curious because what i think is happening is smapi and the steam launch options may not be leading to the same place which is why your game is telling you it cant find smapi, especially if youve installed a new drive on your pc recently KJSDHDSJK

I was trying without any mod first
just the smapy
only general tips right now as iām only here briefly: updating (check your log), deleting and reinstalling ferngill, checking ferngill nexus page posts for similar errors (make sure you look at the errors itās throwing in your log), see if issue persists with just ferngill and dependencies, and finally a binary search/50-50ing/removing half your mods if issue persists on load in then remove half again and repeat until you find the problem.

I don't really understand what you mean. Thumbstick release doesn't do anything, in any configuration? Are you talking about trigger release? If you mean trigger release then that's already an option.

It will not load in, so yes. But someone in #modded-stardew might have a suggestion for a 1.6 mod that's similar if you ask.
@wanton salmon yes, I mean thumbstick release. As in, releasing the thumbstick back to center would trigger the item selection. No additional button press necessary. Does that make sense? If thatās too hard to do or different from your intended vision I understand. But that would be my ideal behavior

Huh. I don't think I've ever used a radial menu like that. It sounds... hard to use. You're saying, whenever the stick returns back to the dead zone it automatically selects whatever item was last highlighted? What happens if you need to move from top to bottom or something like that, is there supposed to be a duration you have to release it for?

It doesn't cancel out of the radial menu right now when you let go of the thumbstick though, only when you let go of the trigger.
@wanton salmon Yeah exactly. Release back to dead zone would select the highlighted item and close the menu. The vast majority of the time, I will only need to point in one direction -straight to my item, and crossing the center/dead zone would be a rare use case. A delay could be a nice to have for that use case but not necessary

Well, using trigger release is also a "no additional button" option - press trigger, move to item, release trigger. Only requires two digits.
As far as re-centering to activate... it's not so much a technical difficulty, as not knowing how to design something like that so it wouldn't be painful to use, with the tiniest slip activating the wrong item, or having it activating at unexpected times; muscle memory being what it is, there's going to be a point where you anticipate the item being in one place but it ends up being in a different place.
It just sounds very... strange to me. But I'll give it some more thought, maybe I'll have a brainwave. If there's some existing example (i.e. in a different game, mod, whatever) that you can point me to, that might also help.
I have seen designs where there's timed activation after holding the stick on an item - though I don't like those designs, it feels like I'm being punished for taking too long on the menu.
Thanks for considering āyeah i canāt think of a game with that mechanic off the top of my head but will look and let you know. Thatās just how I would want it to work intuitively. Adding a delay as you mentioned and adjusting the region considered ādead zoneā are ways to mitigate the pain points you described
Have you tried it with trigger release as the activation, setting the primary action to be selection? That's the combination that's intuitive to me in terms of maximizing economy of motion without losing a lot of precision. I honestly think that'd be a lot more comfortable than making the same analog stick have a dual/time-dependent function - though of course, I can't know what's in anyone else's head or even watch you play, so maybe it just doesn't work for you for some reason.
Anyway, I will think about it, though I'll only add it if I can figure out a way to have it not feel sucky.
@wanton salmon so just picked up my switch to confirm: Monster hunter rise has a radial menu with release to select behavior. So that mustāve been where my mind was. You can configure it with select on button press as well. That said admittedly Monster hunter is known for being a bit⦠clunky in its controls department.

So I'm trying to use Easy Farm Switcher to switch from Immersive Farm 3 to another farm map but I can't find the new farm map in the list of farms to switch to. I'm assuming that the new farm map needs to be installed like all the other maps. Any suggestions?

It turns out that I'm currently looking to make my first mod, and here my first event. However, I have a little problem (images attached)
the part of my script that is problematic:

Basically I wanted the NPCs to leave the house but the warp decided not to work so I did a globalfade. Here when I change the map, after the globalfade I have a frame where the map of the house is displayed during the first sound and then undisplayed, I have however put a viewport on the void. Once the NPCs are on the other map they do not come where I selected but next to it, on the SMAPI error message it tells me to put a 4 in place of the 0, when I do it it tells me ask to put a 4 in place of 4 XD

i'm unsure what my problem is, but a bunch of vanilla recipes are not working saying there's an "invalid ingredient" when there isn't any. e.g. pepper poppers have pepper and cheese supposedly but are asking for a third invalid ingredient

To do a bug report, you go to the mods page and create a post in the bug reporting alongside your log and a brief explanation of what caused it to occur and/or any other relevant information (edit: if you aren't aware of what caused it that's alright, just make sure to post a log)

So for stardew modding using vortex or any mod manager (besides stardrop) will often cause the mod to be incorrectly downloaded. So it's best for the first time downloading a mod to manually download it. You can then either choose to have stardrop 'add' the mod for you or manually extract and place it inside your mods folder :)

From what I can gather from the screenshot it would be best to send a bug report to Wildflour's mod page. However, before sending a bug report I recommend doing a fresh install of both mods (Uiinfosuite2 and Wildflours) to see if the errors still occur :)

Sorry for the delayed response! Okay so I've had a read through of the mod and the file. You'll need to download the Fashion Sense mod, and then overrite the files from the mod shown in the imag le above. The mod already follows the 'structure' that fashion sense originally had so just unzip fashion sense and place it in your mods folder, then drag this mod over into your mods folder and when the window pops up saying "some files already exist' click replace

Alright, I'll check it out when I get the chance. Believe it or not, I have that game (on PC). But not currently installed and haven't played in a couple of years, because - ha ha - I didn't really like the controls.

No, because when smapi starts loading the game, inside of the manifest.json files it alerts smapi of the mods requirements and automatically causes it to load after that mod.

use the latest version of portraiture and version 1.5.1 of dcburger's portraits, but not the cp version . you just want the png files and not the dependency on pytk, put them into your portraiture > portraits folder as usual

ok so in the first pic we can see the cindersap forest but take a look at the trees yes these are the trees with moss on it
the second is my farm but as you can see there is some tiles that are weird and its the case for most of the map's build like even in the desert and stuff

its fancy coder language for "in the event you load your game without mods spacecore messes with your save to make sure nothing breaks" so like if you have custom tools, for example, spacecore removes those because if you load your game without those itll break the game

spacecore is a framework and that warning applies specifically to the mods that use the framework i believe

some of your mods have an issue with their manifest, which is an issue on the side of the mod author, so if it really bothers you you can edit it yourself (modern gothic interior, bogs moon gate, pfm better kegs, divine decor) but you have the most updated version
other mods i think you're just going to have to delete and redownload? can i ask how youre updating your mods? are you fully deleting and replacing them or are you overwriting the files?

ah that would be the issue, when you update mods you need to delete the old file and replace it instead of overwriting it
you put stardrop into your mods folder but stardrop isnt a mod so smapi cant read it
move it somewhere else onto your computer!
somewhere you can access it easily and on the same drive as your game, but otherwise i dooont think so? i know people tend to put it in their documents folder sometimes but i also dont use stardrop so somebody else would have to give you advice on whether thats a good idea unfortunately DKSHJSK

i noticed that my mayo machine isnāt producing any gold star mayo when i use large eggs, does anyone have an idea which mod might be affecting it? the mods i can think of are cornucopia artisan goods, wilflourās gourmand mod, and quaint living artisan goods and their respective dependencies although i canāt pin which exact mod is causing my mayo to be just normal quality

hi i recently downloaded smapi and i am having trouble opening the game from steam. I redid the whole download process and installing as well 2x but its still not opening as it should

deleting or adding sve in the middle of a save causes funky things to happen so its not recommended, but you dont have to reset your game file, you can download reset terrain features (https://github.com/Lake1059/ResetTerrainFeatures_NET6/releases) and use that to fix the terrain

Does anyone here know how to disable the freckles on penny in seasonal outfits slightly cuter aesthetic? i'm using a mod that changes her potrait to have glasses but the overworld sprite doesn't have them, so it kinda ruins the immersion, i don't see a freckles option on the mod config to disable the freckles option

Yeah, Penny in Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic doesn't have freckles so it wouldn't be an option in there anyway. If there's an option it would be in whatever mod adds the glasses.

So I didn't see them adding a config for freckles
I guess the author of the mod that added glasses just worded it strangely, i was able to just delete the "freckles" file and it worked

okay! the main problem seems to be Automate; it's running its update logic once per second (normal) and taking an average of 80ish milliseconds (about five frames; bad) to do so
i would guess that you have a lot of things hooked up for automate to handle, so it is taking a long time to process all of them
the two remedies i know of are 1. reduce the amount of work automate has to do by disconnecting stuff, or 2. change automate's interval (e.g. 120 instead of 60) so it lags your game less often

highlighted here. it will have a folder named with a random string of numbers. the file with that same string of numbers and nothing after it is where you can edit your birthday

hello, so recently been wanting to get into modding and so Ive downloaded SMAPI but its not for steam its for xbox app on my windows 10. Everything worked fine up until I had to launch it. SMAPI will launch for like a second then immediately close. I've tried everything I know of and I just wanna mod. Can anyone help?

after I do the first 2 steps it shows an error message saying windows cant find what I typed and asks if I typed it correctly
you can also use the text it says to run and just find that filepath in your file explorer

see, the place where your saves are is also the place where the game stores its screenshots
so if you launch the vanilla game, load into a save, open the options menu, and scroll down to the 'open destination folder' button under the screenshot button, that should take you right where you need to go

well, that was my guess. nothing in your log is wrong. can you check the files for that wildflour mod and see if the data for that item is there?
the only other possibility i can think of is an error with the data for that item causing it to not be read properly
just to make sure im doing this right what ive been doing is clicking manual download on version 4.0.8 of SMAPI in nexus mods which is the most recent verion then it downloads then I extract the file but I think I might know whats causing the issue?

then you extract the file you get to somewhere unrelated, usually your downloads
then you go into the folder you just extracted and click on the installer for your OS
i'd also open up that file and compare it to a similar item that you know to be working, just to see if there's anything different in there that would cause it to not be read

deleting sve? wont affect other mods, but your save will be weird (error items, npcs that were there will throw errors because they were deleted, locations will be giving you errors, etc etc etc) reset terrain features just does what it says on the tin, itll reset all the weirdness with the map but wont touch anything else
ok so I did that then it asks 1 or 2 blah blah blah and it installs just fine and its in the place I downloaded it to
make sure you have vmv compatibility enabled in cauldron but otherwise it seems to be a bug with wildflour at present, theres not much youd be able to do
so smapi is now in the game? the smapi files are in the same place as your game files? there's an automatically created mods folder in there?

I do have it enabled. It fixed the issue with some other items, but not the ones with the wildflour brewer mod. It has to do with compatibility with Visit Mt Vapius, it looks like

The page told me to load it through the xbox app wich didnt load the mod so I tried loading the game through the copy I made of SMAPI and this time instead of flickering the tab It didnt show one at all just that it was loading something but its been about three minutes and nothings loading so.
Okay, so I'd try:
- Deleting and doing a fresh install of wildflour's mods and vmv.
- Validating your games files themselves
- Try actually making the honey item (testing) to see if it actually occurs if lookup anything is just throwing an error when it works (like what Kat said)
- Post the latest log after the troubleshooting if possible

ahh okay so since you keep getting errors can i ask you to reinstall both your game and smapi? just to make sure everythings fresh and working correctly! be sure to follow all the steps here both for before you install smapi and for afterwards (im sure you know that already but just to cover all the bases DFKJSHDKS)

ive also discovered that its specifically affecting mushrooms. i can put fruit in the vanilla dehydrator but not 5 edible mushrooms

In the part the says "FromFile" you will only change the part "Data/objects_ql.json" to "Data/objects_vmv.json"

i got this error when i tried to check for updates through vortex (which is on my C: drive)
Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.
(See also the Nexus App feedback thread, if you want to help Nexus avoid the same issues in their upcoming replacement for Vortex.)

are replacer mods okay to use mid save?
If you're talking about mods that change portraits or sprites, yes - For mods that add content, you may miss things.
But portraits and sprites and such are all dynamically loaded upon launch, if they exist, they temporarily overwrite the base portraits and sprites, and if removed, revert back to vanilla.
unless you're still on version 1.5.6 of the game, you're gonna have to uninstall everything PPJA and use cornucopia instead, it's not exactly the same but a lot of the items from PPJA live there now

It looks like you might be missing the fixes for the farmhouse 
You also have quite a number of incompatible mods so I'd take a look at those as well

It looks like the mod author mentions that they recommend that you remove all house renovations before installing their mod otherwise bugs have a chance of occuring (likely why your furniture in the void
)
In that case, what you could do is get the No Clip Mode mod, no clip out of bounds, and retrieve your furniture so it's not all just floating in the void and then proceed from there

I've never used it before personally, but it looks like you can just download, extract, drag and drop it into your mod folder and then reset the terrain either via the config.json or ingame through the menu :o

Could you try removing BFAV Bulls and running your game again :o?
I looked it up and it looks like it hasn't been updated since 2020 so there may be some issues with it

Idk if there's a tut video, but after you download, unzip, drop in mod folder, etc. (like usual), launch SDV and then press F11 ingame (or you can change the key via GCMC) and you should get a lil pop up in the bottom left hand corner saying that you toggled it on and then you can just walk through the walls and grab your furniture

hey im back i dont have much time i removed the bulls and recorded the log but it still comes up
Hmm, if I had to guess based on the event name and considering you only added animals, it's likely one of the animal mods you added - tho I'm not sure which one
- if it's not Mizu's Turkeys (seeing as that wasn't working initially) and not Bulls, you'll probably need to go through your animal mods and try removing them one by one and running your game until you can pinpoint which one's causing the error

Hi! I'm trying to install a version of Better Junimos that works on Ginger Island in 1.6. https://github.com/hawkfalcon/Stardew-Mods/issues/58 suggests that Miguel-thewolf has created a version that has fixed it. How do I actually install it? I am not experienced in GitHub but have now installed git, java 17 and gradle in an attempt to follow instructions i have found online for Minecraft mods in the hope that it would be the same
