Anywho. Correct launch options would be "C:\Windows\steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% at present. But I am very, very, very much going to suggest maybe fixing the steam install so it's not in the windows folder
So if you download SVE's nyapu's portraits, you have to replace sve's portraits with nyapu's.

The original advice you were given was to replace the portraits in mod folders, but the mod you linked was for vanilla portraits
there's a file page with all the other files
that mod, in extra files, has mod replacements.
nyapu has portraits for like...god knows how many mods.

Poky edited the content.json but they said it worked for them just fine?
the content.json was edited so it could load with dsv a bit faster.

I also apparently messed up something else cause when I load smapi it says something about a non existent file pertaining to jonimos
You should never be changing the vanilla files directly, so if you did, you may need to reset your game files
But posting the log with the new error would be helpful
Rsv and sve have been updated a few times since nyapu's has been, it's possible their file structure for portraits has changed since then

Ok, so in this case overwrite was what you were supposed to do, but it looks like somehow there's a portrait missing from sve's code? So I'd reinstall sve and the portraits

Beyond that, check the upload dates for the mod vs the portraits. Any missing portraits could be explained by the mod updating after the last time the portraits were updated
this modding stuff hurts my brain. last time i played was on mac and took me a bit but felt like i got it down. its been a couple years and now im on windows and feels like im starting all over again
You unfortunately picked a complicated one. Portrait mods that require replacing original files are a bit advanced

got a strange message from stardrop when i redownloaded sve so I launched to test it. didnt get any errors about missing files this time. hopefully i replace stuff correctly this time

Can you type patch summary and then enter into the black SMAPI window?
It should give you a list of items with checkboxes, and they will show up in your log, so you can just upload the log after and we can see if something else is overriding the portraits maybe

have you futzed with the settings of better chests at all? bc i think it expands chest inventory by default, so you need to turn that off

so resize chest is set to default, and if im remembering better chests correctly default is the expanded inventory

Hi, anyone can help how the CBJ cheats work? After I install and set the correct path on steam, when I press P, nothing comes out.
Dumb question, but are you sure SMAPI is launching? It should pop up a console, if so. If it is, look at the output in the console for the list of mods running and check whether CBJCheats is listed.
I only mention checking that SMAPI is running because it sounds like first time setup if you're setting the launch path on steam.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

but, there is no new version on the page that smapi is sending me to. and I checked the "unofficial version for bus location" on github and even that file is not the version i should have.... does someone know where i can get the correct/last version?

aha, now that makes sense, and my first assumption was correct but that also makes it rather questionable
the unofficial from github comes with the 1.0.5 in the manifest, probably edited from the wrong manifest
but that means #archived-modded-support message does apply
meaning, get the mod from github again and change the version to 1.2.2-unofficial.1-Xytronix as it is in the one for BusLocations
because i got the mod (like the link from nexus) but then checked the smapi info concerning mod and saw that for 1.6.x there is alternative.. so tried that but yeah the message was still there. - and this is a point where i was lost about what i am doing wrong.

As far as I personally know, the author of the mod for BusStations and TrainStations is now busy with higher-priority mods for version 1.6 of SDV. And as soon as the opportunity arises, he will work on other mods, including them.
if you're talking about Train Station, that's maintained by Pathos, but that is not the same as Bus Locations

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.
There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

You click on that above and it downloads the zip to your downloads folder, you then unzip/extract that folder and place it in your mods folder (but you'll need to delete the old UiInfosuite2 that's currently located in your mods folder so the new version doesn't overite it)

You can check the config by using the Generic Mod Config Menu mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) and to open the settings with the GMCM click the cog in the lefthand bottom corner and a list of configurable mods will show up, UiInfoSuite2 should be amongst the list.

Hi, have you reported it/got any feedback? I just tried fixing my UI with Theme Manager and ran into the same issue with dropdown menus in Automate. Strangely enough it's only Automate tho, mod config dropdowns etc work

from the log it looks like you extracted some mod (SMAPI and possibly more?) without its own folder, that is likely causing the crash, you should never have folders like i18n in \Mods directly -> you should remove all these extra files and install SMAPI through installer and not by extracting

Your game path looks odd. Did you by chance have two copies potentially?
It seems like maybe SMAPI can't find your game. I recommend a fresh download of smapi, don't move it out of downloads etc when you extract it and try to run the installer again, let me see what the path is you are putting into it

Learned this the hard way with DSV... 
the only way I know of is by using stardrop mod manager and having it keep profile specific configs, other than that they will get replaced

Delete the SVE mod folders completely, redownload, and try to add them back again.

I'm noticing your mods folder is on D drive, so I mainly want to make sure that you don't accidentally have multiple SMAPI installs and that it is correctly pulling from the mod folder you just showed.

Alright, let's start simple, go into [CP] Aimon's Fancy Greenhouse folder and open the manifest.json you should see there.
It should look like my screenshots, as I just downloaded a fresh copy from NexusMods.
That's a config file, not a manifest. See how mine has one that says manifest ?

okay, so your manifest files are missing then, like the error stated. Try to redownload the mods individually from NexusMods and delete/replace the folders with the fresh downloads, you can try with just that mod for now to make sure the error goes away for it before tackling all of them, if you'd like.

Sometimes Vortex takes a little nibble out of mods when they download through it, so that may have been what happened here.

They're trying to do the same thing, at least! Try taking one of them out and see if the issue persists? I'd drop Settling Waters unless you know the source, as I cannot find it on Nexus or anywhere else on a search.

If you're looking to update mods and aren't sure if there's an update, https://smapi.io/mods can be very helpful in finding unofficial updates or continuations. ๐
with the 1.6 update, that's not the best way to go. many many many mods have changed owners and places, meaning you will never get an update notification even though there's an update. I recommend looking at the "posts" section of those old mods to see if someone linked new versions, and to put in the names into nexus search to see if the same mod got reuploaded with "1.6", or "redux" or "continued" added
I've noticed a few mods on the compatibilty list arent accurate. Custom transparency is broken, as is the unofficial update to timemaster

That's why it's good to check the posts on the mod after, but the list can at least point you at whatever the current replacement is, in most cases to do that checking ๐
I just don't want to forget about them, when you have 300 mods, its easy to forget what youv'e downloaded

i've installed the overgrown fairy buildings mod but the farmhouse is still vanilla. i disabled any other mod that would overwrite the overgrown mod like cute valley but nothing is working ):

or rather, I'd take the mods out and search for replacements one by one and delete the ones I replaced already, most things did get replaced already especially when it comes to QoL mods
added bonus is that you don't get a ton of red smapi errors and can actually see what's going on ๐

ppja mods you're gonna have to throw out as they are definitely not getting updated anymore - wildflour or cornucopia are worthy replacements for that
Pytk lite, tmxl toolkit and shoptile framework will also not get updates and aren't used anymore, throw them out too
I've heard that they aren't being updated anymore, they don't currently seem broken. I've looked at cornucopia and saw that it hasn't gotten the cooking component as of yet

aedenthorn stopped modding for now, so pretty much all of their mods that are continued have been taken on by other people. looking at the mod page, I can see that someone posted a replacement in the "posts" section
sounds good, it wasn't too dificult to convert the BAGI to EBAGI so hopefully it will be similar for the CON

Ok, yeah, the giant glob of red is definitely because you're running out of date mods. You said you downloaded replacements? Where did you copy the mod folders to from the downloaded ones?
There's also a few mods in there I believe are defunct due to changes in 1.6, but I don't know enough to say which ones.
Usually they get put in the same folder(mod folder) just replaced with the newer ones usually it always worked but once the new update hit they just never worked
Just to double check, you're opening the zip files and pulling the actual folders out to the mods folder, yes?
What directory are you putting the new versions in? (Some mod loaders do naughty things and I just want to double check)

What directory are the mods ending up in? If you're still getting out of date alerts, I'd try moving the old folders out of the mods directory and replacing with the newly downloaded ones rather then copy/paste.

I just downloaded the new version of SVE to check, and indeed, the Nexus Update keys are listed as ???, which is interesting and can thus be ignored at this point

Iโm not sure- uh we go to the smapi (stardew) folder and then it says mods and stuff and usually insert the mods there and then it asks to replace the old mods with new ones and we agree to it
well, the map issue you showed originally was from Modest Maps Forest Farm apparently
If you're on windows, there should be a bar on the top of the folder with your current folder directory - When you're looking at your mods, can you copy that path? Example, if you need it.
Yeah, I'm guessing it's because of how SVE has multiple split components, but it's still a bit odd to see, especially when it throws a SMAPI warning.
Okay, so you should never overwrite existing mod folders if you can help it, it's better to delete the old mod's folder and then drop the new one in.

No worries - I suspect Avery is dumping into the wrong folder somehow, otherwise they should have stopped complaining about a lack of updates.
Sometimes overwrites don't fully work, so it's possible that it's a manifest error or an incomplete replacement, if it turns out that it's not the wrong folder

Netherworld Burning Butterfly is throwing errors, but it looks like another mod is corrupting data - Try disabling Walk of Life and let's see what happens

XNB mods often break the game and are not recommended. See Modding:Using XNB mods for more info (and a list of Content Patcher alternatives), and you can reset your content files to fix problems caused by XNB mods.
For mod creators, see Modding:Editing XNB mods for help unpacking & editing them (including for use with Content Patcher).

you're out of luck with that, cause it is not a smapi mod indeed and doesn't work with smapi
I can't say for sure since 90% of the errors are the same state corrupted error, but it looks like Walk of Life explodes in a prefix-patch, which may be generating all of the errors

In the posts section of the mod, it says you can use Content Patcher. It was posted in April, but not sure if that was before or after the major update? I just don't know how to do any of that and figured I would ask
in the posts it says you have to convert to use it! (basically make a content patcher mod out of it)
Unzip this mod in your downloads folder
Select the XNB mod you want to convert with the files icon - in this situation it's Kal's portrait mod.
Navigate and upload to the
Character and Portraits
folder of the XNB mod. (It must be ordered as if it would go in Content)
If your browser prompts you to upload the folder, choose "Upload".
Fill in the manifest fields. (Make sure to credit the original author!) - For the Name of the mod title it 'Kal's Marriage Candidates Portraits Remake', the Author 'kal and gyuhola', and whatever version number you would like to call it.
Click "Done" and wait for the conversion to finish.
Once it finishes, click "Download" to download the converted mod and before unzipping create a folder titled '[CP] Kal's Marriage Candidates Portraits Remake' and unzip the file inside of the folder and then delete the unzipped file. Then place it in your mods folder and you're ready to play!

Nor do I know what UI it was getting confused with cause I'm only using one/
It's likely a side effect of the game's collections state being corrupted by WoL. There's a ton of game-internal errors in the SMAPI log you gave me.

90% of the errors were the game screaming about the state being corrupted. As far as Nether Butterfly, it looks like it's got a missing/misnamed file, and some json that's calling stuff in a way it shouldn't be. Edit: Bunch of missing asset stuff so there's something wrong with the files.

If I had to guess, you were one folder too deep on an update cycle, and dumped everything in a mod's folder

i just figured id get all the base stardew stuff so any mod would work

Depending on the age of the mod, they might still need it. Just make sure you get the correct one for 1.6
a ton of mods need only content patcher to work now, and the ones who don't need specific frameworks of which most are different from 1.5.6
