Okay, so xna, if it's corrupted, can be fixed by reinstalling directX
i believe the directX version is ...dx10 or dx9
wOOF restarted computer and now it's going haywire, i think it's likely an issue with the laptop itself at this point

Generally, you should always delete the old files when updating any mod.

Depends on the mod
If it's an expansion, you're better off starting a new save
reflection, ui info suite and some thingy that makes the crystal dup thing dup other stuff
If it's an item mod, throw away any items you have that involve said item mod

there's some mods you can update, the most important one of those being expanded preconditions utility, you'll want the second file on nexus

Has anybody experienced similar issues with LittleNPCs? My children frequently walk through solid objects or walls or walk out of bounds. I've even set the "Do children wander" configuration option to false, which didn't solve the problem.
My childrens' beds are placed side by side. I haven't moved them since they were placed automatically, and one of my two children gets stuck inside their bed or their sibling's bed, and I have to pick it up so they can move out of it.

I am confused too lol. Iāve closed out of the game and reopening it, Iāve even restarted my computer. Itās still showing day 17, so we will see. Thank you for the help! š

you could also try using the mod "stardew progress", that should be able to pull modded recipes as well
Yea just says the 14 recipes, but I gave up and just got rid of the expanded adventures guild and then I got my crafting master achievement. I have now officially reached 100% perfection at year 4 of my save š

I have been playing this game since 2016 on several different devices. However, once I started playing on my current laptop, I experienced flashing whenever I changed the volume via the keys on my keyboard. When I say flashing, I mean the game goes black for a second. The flashing occurs when the volume slider appears/disappears, so twice every time I change the volume.Ā I have also noticed that streaming the game on Discord does not work regardless if I'm streaming the whole screen or just the application. The game appears to be frozen until the volume slider is on screen. The stream works for a few seconds until it flashes again, and the stream is frozen again. This also applies to OBS. I have only experienced this on this laptop. The only difference between my previous PCs and this one is the current one uses Windows 11 while the others used Windows 10. This is definitely mod-related as I tried running the game via clicking the exe, and the flashing seems to have stopped, but this did not happen on my other devices that also used SMAPI.

It's possible that Vortex didn't properly remove the old SVE folder and instead tried to only replace new files.
Gotta remove old SVE first

sometimes that's a manifest error, but that's unlikely for SVE
The other possibility is that since you're running mods through a launcher, you might have two separate install locations
So confirm that the Mods folder in the location you're running SMAPI from has the updated SVE in it

This sounds a lot like the startup_preferences issue that kept popping up for folks last month, so that link's instructions will also check/fix that if it's the case

In case you are not very tech-savvy you can also just do this on Steam:
-Open Steam
-Go to libraries and find Stardew Valley
-Right-Click Stardew, hover over manage
-Then, hit browse local files

then you will probably want to reinstall SMAPI

Your saves should be fine like Ichor said before, you just need to do a clean reinstallation to recover the files Vortex might have eaten

You can redownload it again, run it > uninstall
Then you can just download it again, uninstall it (when runnining the .bat), and then finally delete the installer file!
The secret way to uninstall is to verify files if youāre still having this issue. The normal way is to run the uninstalled but verifying files may be easier in some cases.

Children at stage 4 can run through walls and out of the map. Reseting the day or sleeping will reset the children to a random area of the farmhouse.
They do it in vanilla too? I've never seen it happen prior to installing LittleNPCs.

Hi, I have a question about my spouse (Elliott) being stuck at the bus stop when he walks home after being in town. I do have the Immersive spouses mod (but I have more mods too). Any clue as to what's going on?
What about when my children seemingly getting stuck inside their bed? On several occasions now I've seen my children start moving out of their bed in the morning, then stop and do not continue moving until I pick the bed up.

Because it looks like you just deleted the SMAPI files but didnāt reset files
Which doesnāt work to uninstall
You have to either run the SMAPI installer and select uninstall or verify files
It's likely a pathing issue having to do with the 1.6 bus stop changes 
I'm not familiar with Immersive Spouses but you may be able to adjust the coordinates

what machine are you on? (mac, windows)
okay, I'm using mac and steam but it should be similar - first click on the download button and choose nexus
then on the right side, hit the button that says "manual" (not vortex), it will have the download icon on it
then click slow download - let me know what it says for you at this point, i don't remember if you need to specify a location or if it will automatically go to your downloads folder

it will download as a .zip file, you'll need to unzip to get the folder - mac can do this without any additional software, I'm not sure about windows
if you click, does it become an open-able folder (or make a copy and turn into a folder)? if not, try to right-click and see if you see an "unzip" option

you can drag and drop that entire folder (the unzipped one with "installer" in the title) to your desktop
then open it, and double click the file titled "install on Windows", this should open a command prompt or powershell window

inside your StardewValley game files, there should be a folder titled Content, and within that something with our OS name (mine says MacOS), then a folder called "Mods"
so Content > MacOS > Mods
How does one find the files?
to find this in your computer, go to steam, right-click Stardew Valley, hit "Manage", then "Browse Local Files"
As a note: On Windows, the Mods folder is located under your Steam folder, and then in the game folder (where Stardew Valley is stored by Steam if you browse local files)
If you do not have a Mods folder right away, you may need to run StardewModdingAPI.exe once to generate it -- just load to title and then close it
^^ yes, installing SMAPI should have made the Mods folder for you

On Windows, the Mods folder right in that screenshot is correct

You may have to edit the launch path from steam? I heard something about that, but it's not necessary for Mac so I'm not sure....
The launch path was in the green text at the end of the installer, it was in the screenshot. š
If you forgot to copy/paste it, you can run the SMAPI installer again to get the path, it won't hurt anything.
After editing your launch path, you can test: if you run sdv from steam and that command prompt window opens again with some output from SMAPI, I believe it should be running properly
this was the launch path for SMAPI if you wanted to add it into your Steam launch options
Then you find whatever mods you want on nexus, download "manual", unzip, then copy the ENTIRE unzipped folder inside that Mods folder

If you want to set the launch path in steam, you can do so by putting "D:/SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% into your Launch Options box-- you get there from managing the game properties for SDV in Steam.
That basically makes it so if you tell Stardew Valley to Run in your Steam library it opens SMAPI so you can use your mods, instead of the vanilla game client.
Setting the launch path is optional, but it is easier than finding the StardewModdingAPI.exe every time.
What now?
Have you set the launch path?
Once it is set, you can try to run Stardew Valley from your Steam library, and you should get a little black console window that pops up before the game itself launches.
The console window means SMAPI is running. š

since you have to write your own entries for Custom Spouse Rooms, most of the help will be done "on paper" anyway I got the wrong mod in mind, that was Custom Spouse Room locations, ignore this

It's recommended you do a new save for SVE content anyway, so that would be fastest way to check. If your SMAPI console is showing that the mod has loaded, you should be able to look around and find the new SVE NPCs (Sophie, Andy, etc.).

oh, if you haven't added any of the SVE specific optional farms, you won't see any changes at that stage anyway! You likely won't notice a difference until you load into a (hopefully new) save file.

If you're using a mod like FreeLove or PolyamorySweet, then it will behave as explained in the mod description: "Without any additional data, it will show multiple spouse rooms in a row starting where the vanilla spouse room would show up. You can change the order of the spouse rooms in the config file."

!freelove Freelove suite on nexus is out of date, if you are interested though there are unofficial updates to the mod suite (see below). Though you can also use PolyamorySweet like fireredlily said. Its up to you

So, I am playing multiplayer. Polyamory mod. Their house works fine, with multiple, filled spouse rooms. For me, though, I get one room and it's totally empty. (Even though I have 3 spouses atm.)

The link is perfectly safe, smapi.io is run by the developer of SMAPI. If the username of your computer profile or Steam profile is your full name, then it may appear in the path, which is what the warning is for.
What platform are you on and do you use steam?
(i ask to figure out whether your username will appear)

If it's running through Steam, then your name won't appear in the path unless you installed SMAPI somewhere strange (like in your Documents, Desktop, or Downloads folder).

And there is hopefully an update to SMAPI coming to anonymize paths, so the warning should only be temporary

@rich quail and @rare walrus I'm a bit at a loss here, it looks like in the second log, it isn't even trying to load in the spouse rooms, which shouldn't be happening unless you don't have a spouse.
There is a post on the NexusMods page from a few days ago with someone else having an issue after marrying a second spouse, so it may be related and an intrinsic mod issue that needs to be fixed.
Apryll appears to be actively responding to the posts about the issue requesting logs, so it might be a good idea to chime in on the NexusMods page with your logs in case it is something the mod author needs to resolve the issue!

This issue is reported multiple times on the mod page. The mod has not been updated since 2021. Daisyniko seems to say it runs fine on 1.6, but hasn't responded to these Nighttiles errors.
So I installed Crystalline Junimo Chests but it isn't working at all. They all link to the same inventory no matter what colour they are and it never consumes the gem when I switch colours like it's allegedly supposed to. I tried the creators discord server but he banned me after I tried several times to explain the sit to him. I'm not getting an Smapi errors for the issue at all (this is what the mod author can't seem to understand).
Anyone got experience with the mod or know of any fixes/potential mod conflicts

I figured it out! PPJA crop mods have a multiplyer by farm level im currently getting a 5x multiplyer at farming level 10š„“ the only way i see to fix it is to manually go in and change each crops configs unless theres a master config file that im not seeing?

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
I think your Android either canāt handle the modded game (too many mods? Im not sure) or something is conflicting

The mods out of date arent applicable in this case as they dont effect Crystalline Junimo Chests

quite litterally has "Crystalline Junimo Chests" --- "No errors" so
tried reinstralling it for the millionth time and it worked the first time I went into it, saying it needed the gem to change colour, so I went and got the gem and boom, no working doesn't consume can freely change colour and they still all have the same inventory no matter the colour

There appears to be a known issue with the Zoom levels impacting the color picker and subsequent inventory change for some reason.

Okay. Seems like the error is going to have to be sorted by Daisyniko. However, this test did give us info on something else. Can't apply image patch "Invatorzen's Dialogue Changes > Sabrina's Changes > assets/Sabrina/Sabrina.json > Sabrina Beach Portrait" to Portraits/Sebastian_Beach: target area (X:0, Y:0, Width:128, Height:320) extends past the right edge of the image (Width:64), which isn't allowed. Patches can only extend the tilesheet downwards. appears in Liltroll's log but not Kenzie's.

Convenient Inventory is only upset because it can't draw an object that was disposed of. Did the player trash the item?

Yep! DaisyNiko's Earthy Recolor colors the vanilla parts of the map, and DaisyNiko's Earthy Map for SVE specifically recolors the added SVE content.

Okay, so this looks MSVE is set to only change the buildings from SVE (so Andy's House, Fairhaven Farm, Aurora Vineyard, etc.) to be in the medieval style. Is that the case when you go to those areas?
I found this in the Upgraded Kegs mod data, "(BC){{ModId}}_Keg-Copper" would that be what I input or do I need something to replace "ModId"?

Okay, that's because that mod ONLY impacts the SVE areas. If you want the rest of the town to look medieval, you need to add Way Back Pelican Town, which is linked in the mod description for MSVE. š

RRRR has a hidden romance mode, so Magnus wonāt be immediately listed as single. You gotta work for it haha. Itās worth it though!

Itāll be easier to edit your config with GMCM, which I believe Elleās mods are all compatible with. It gives you an easier GUI to change your config options from the title page.
If itās just a CP mod then check the mod page images to see what the different options look like and change it using GMCM.
If itās AT then you need to buy the tools from Robin. I believe the scissors are for animals.
(I believe there is also a setting to opt out of hidden romance mode in GMCM)
Iirc, it's for mods like polysweet, etc.

Grandpa's Farm 1.14.43 because it requires mods which aren't installed (FlashShifter.GrandpasFarmFTM).

Does your Grandpaās farm folder have 2 sub folders? Because itās saying youāre missing the FTM one and that is included with the download.

i was having an issue where when it went to save to the next day, it would flash, never move on, and say the save failed with exception
i deleted all the mods, reinstalled withOUT using vortex
and when it went to save it just basically black screen crashed

i had this issue last night and someone in the SVE chat said to verify my files, uninstal some of them and reinstall some of them manually because apparently a mod manager can mess it up?
but it did the same thing today so i just removed all the mods in the stardew/mods folder and reinstalled the ones i for sure for sure want

Oh! Yes I font see the grandpaās farm error, but those in red are still there because theyāre incompatible. You can check their 1.6 compatibility/alternatives status using smapi.io

Yeah! Itās very handy because (for example) shop tile framework is obsolete and has been rolled into the base game. So you donāt even need it. You can just delete that.

Thereās nothing I personally can identify as the culprit tbh do you might need to do a 50/50 to see which mod is the problem. You donāt have very many, so hopefully it shouldnāt take long. Do a 50/50 and try to sleep/save. See which one is causing the error.
Perhaps your save file is corrupted, Navigate to the Stardew Valley folder, and there you will find a file created by smapi called Saves Backup inside yo will see multiple backups keep trying older backups until it doesn't crash anymore.
so i moved all the mods out of the stardew/mods folder but SVE, Content Patcher, and FTM and this is what happened when i tried to immediately go to bed:

if you have any items in your inventory from a mod you cannot remove that mod unless you get rid of that item.

The mod items will still be in your inventory, so reinstalling the mods will put the items back to normal.
However, it looks like the game can't actually access its own save files!

i restarted my computer, launched the game with just Content Patcher, FTM, Grandpa farm, and SVE and was able to SAVE! sick~ so i closed out, added the remaining mods (mostly just expansions) loaded it up and the game refused to save ^^^

the out of date mod is extra machine configs which yeah need to update but really shouldnt impact the save fail
Are you opening the save file in some kind of text editor or something? It seems convinced something else is using the save file

You need to unzip the SMAPI installer, then run it. Then you need to unzip the mods you want and put them in the Mods folder SMAPI made in the Stardew Valley folder. Also, you probably now have multiple file explorer windows open
So you can just have one looking at Downloads and one looking at Stardew Valley

Sorry for the late reply but from what I can see the problem here is that smapi is unable to access the save files.
actually try a test save first. a fresh save named something like TEST that's just for "is this broken on other saves too?"

OH yeah if you have the vanilla game AND the modded game open and once that'd be a thing - but astraios, the SMAPI console should be open alongside modded Stardew
Another potential culprit: if, somehow, some 'cloud storage' program is trying to back up your saves without working around the game
do you have automatic backups of your Saves folder?

Close the game and reopen it. Also, if you haven't set your launch options, you'll need to do so.

it just really makes smapi angry when you run as admin for some reason and can cause issues
best bet is to remove and redownload/unzip if you catch them telling you theyve done this

Hey all, we are having an interesting issue, our 4 person game is suddenly only allowing 3 of us to join at a time. Each person is able to join without issue until someone tries to join as the 4th person.
When the 4th person tries to join it gives this error:

We are using Stardew Valley Very Expanded + Luck Skill, Horse Overhaul, Canon Friendly Dialogue Expansion, Hats Won't Mess Up Hair, No Fence Decay Updated and Combat Controls Redux.
This is a 62hr save, so it's weird that it suddenly popped up the issue.
We have done all the suggested troubleshooting for the multiplayer issues and still hasn't fixed it as well as completely removed and reinstalled all the mods.

The mods that are out of date are part of SVVE and they suggest not updating individual mods and to wait for SVVE updates.

We're not tooo crazy, at 92 mods myself. I do know two of them also use Witchcore, but they've had that enabled for pretty much the whole time we've played.
We've discussed trying Mega Expanded with it's like 400+ mods lol
Best bet is to see what is new between NOW and when you played last
if you can't determine that unfortunately the only way to diagnose this is to 50/50 the mods
