Well, for some reason when I try to run the game the updated starts, checks 3 or 4 mods and then spits out a message about how the updater failed and everything just moves on and launches like normal

thats the weird thing, the parser isnt showing me any logs from modupdater at all when i try to filter to just those, it shows me one trace log from buslocations and ntthing else

Does the picture help at all? That's all the mod updater stuff that it spit out at all, the problem might be that I'm on steam deck, but I'm hoping that's not it and there's some other issue I can actually fix

mod updater only check for update every 60 min by default so thats probably why it loaded without problem

Mod Updates
Looking for a particular mod update? Ask in #modded-stardew if there are working alternatives.
If you know there aren't alternatives or that the mod doesn't work in 1.6, first check the comments on the mod page to see if the original author is working on an update. Then check the SMAPI mod compatibility page either check the comments on the mod page to see if an unofficial update is linked there. Finally, you can look on the unofficial update forums and ask there if someone would be willing to continue it!
Please remember to be kind and patient, do not harass the original mod author or any other mod authors into making an update for you.
If updating SMAPI and those 30 out of date mods doesn't fix it the next step is making sure all your game files are OK:

Have you moved the location of your farmhouse?
you go inside Stardew Valley/Mods/MarketTown/[CP] MarketTown/[CP] Market Map/Asset folder and rename the file paths..tsx to Paths..tsx until I patch this in the next update
Looking at this my only guess could be Lasting Conversation Topics crashing. If you could could you load the game up and go have a conversation, then send the log immediately after?
So i've just been looking at things that could effect dialogue and such and the two things I noticed were:
- Lasting Conversation Topics crashing
- HD Portraits seems to be loading a lot, like I think I saw 50 entries just for Robin and when I checked the mod itself it seems it isn't ready for 1.6 so that could potentially be the issue

If you're using Steam or GOG on Windows, you will need to set your launch options in order for Steam/GOG to automatically launch with SMAPI. The SMAPI installer will tell you what to set as the launch options when it completes (green text). hi, ive never needed to ask for help w mods b4 but am just completely stumped on how to fix this.. Im unable to enter my greenhouse for some reason? pretty sure the smapi warnings are harmless (they came after i removed a few mods that could have been interfering before, but nothing worked to fix it.) if im reading it correctly its saying its a game issue? im not an expert by any means so i may just be missing something really simple

when I had this error (the gametime error) it was somehow linked to Dynamic Night Time, but that I see you don't have that mod loaded.
I see there are alot of mods not loaded, can you fix that and see if it fixes the error?
yeah! i’ll do that rn. originally i had everything loaded & it gave me a different error which is why i removed some, but i’ll readd them all & send the log again (unless it miraculously works!)

So i started a modded run and want to change the fence designe. I have a lot of mods in it like SVE or Riverlands or earthy recolour and lots more.
Somehow the fence designe wont change. its still looks like the base designe.
Wanted to try Cottagecore Fences now but still it wont change. There is no error in the log and also tried now in settings but it is endabled. i also disabled the SVE one but ye still doesnt work.
Do i just miss something in settings?
And what should i choose there

hi, it is my second time using smapi and i've never seen anything like this in my old laptop where i used to play stardew valley, i bought a new pc and tried sdv with mods again but it takes a long time to load in the game and when i try to load my old character, it stopped responding then crashed, i've seen some people encounter this problem but i've never found a solution, tried everything, i am only using the mods that smapi added as a test and now i am cornered right now on what to do

Hello , i can't find error logs subfolder, there are only 2 folder in my stardew valley folder - MODS & Smapi-internal
Could you check if Grandpa's farm affects fences and maybe remove No Fence Decay or look for something similar and more up to date

Did you move the Luck Skill mod's folder? Try Tools > Refresh Mod List in Stardrop, then deactivating Luck Skill and activating it again.

What do you mean with did I move it?
I didn't move anything
That error usually happens when Stardrop thinks a mod exists, but it actually doesn't, either because the user deleted it or moved it. That's why I asked if you moved Luck Skill mod because your Stardrop couldn't find it.
So try refreshing your mod list to make Stardrop actually check if the mods are there.
I checked the mod folder and it is there but there's 5 folders in the folder before the actual mod

Try unchecking ever mod then checking them again.
Then launch the game.

@pliant swallow is the stardew save predictor broken now? i gathered a bunch of geodes, put the save game file into it, and the results from geodes were completely different in game than in the predictor. the trash cans weren't much accurate even before but geodes did work flawlessly... did the patch 1.6 change so much? i even the way cat (farm animal) is coded did slightly change, but i never would have guessed the changes were that deep and wide.
If you have mods that affect the geode drops ofc predictor can't expect that
That includes very common mods like sve
i use the same gameseed i've been throughout the years, made a "perfect start", as perfect as it can get, for day 1, and i like to use this save, never had this before
That looks like it's from Elle's Seasonal Building. What fence are you trying to use?
crap, sve breaks so many things, i'm really beginning to dislike it. east scarp does not cause such issues.
thank you for the explanation, i did install sve this time. it didn't disclose that it breaks all the patterns everywhere. i thought it just adds places on the map, npcs and a few additional things, basically what's in the description. they didn't write that this mod overwrites and alters the game itself.

I am using Stardrop to manage mods, if I need to disable some mods, that's fine
Can anyone help with getting a sprite to work, I downloaded the Who's high res wizard mod and the portrait works fine but the sprite isn't showing up when I load the game. Any help is appreciated 🥲

Try disabling all fence recolor in Elle's Seasonal Bulding config.
It seems that mod is incompatible with RRRR and was meant to be used with Looking for Love Redux instead. But it could also be because you have an update for RRRR

Make sure you’ve got all the dependencies because i’m not sure i saw lumisteria’s indoor tilesheets either. (extra map layers is obsolete however)

You need to disable SlightlyCuterWizard, as well as SlightlyCuterMagnus if you have SCA-SVE or Seasonal Outfits-SVE
Appearance will win over the baseline edits to the sprite
i also have the talko portraits that its meant to be using, works for the other npcs
that should have no relation to the solution I presented?

(talko does not cover every expansion)
yeah i just thought id mention it while i found the configs, because it should be using the talko portrait for the wizard and the other npcs i spoke to, vanilla and sve, both used the talko portraits

Bea, I'm telling you it's the Seasonal Cute stuff because not only did I program the Seasonal Cute update, I know what people are posting on the pages re: Wizard 
I know why this is happening (because it's using the appearance system) and I stated the solution
But if I need to explain further: Seasonal Cute used to edit the baseline sprites/portraits. With 6.0, it now uses the appearance system, so it no longer edits the base portraits/sprites and instead tells the game to use a custom outfit (since they have SCA-SVE, the priority system will have it use Magnus_Fall since he's purple). To stop the edits - especially for stuff like Rasmodia - you disable them in the config.
im not saying your fix wont work, im saying theres a seperate issue

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.

ive had problems with the rasmodia portraits before, my solution is just overwrite the magnus portraits from the sve mod with the rasmodia portraits that i wanted
It would have been really funny if Nomori had actually put the Rasmodia stuff as appearance data

From Portraiture's page, if this helps to provide context:
"Important regarding HDP support (SDV 1.5.6 & 1.6 alpha):
If you download an want to use a HDP content pack with this, put it into the regular mod folder, NOT the Portraits folder.
If the manifest.json file of that pack has hdp in it's dependencies, but you do not have hdp installed, remove the dependency and select HDP when picking a portraits-set in game, to have it show up as intended. (This will still work with HDP installed, it does not require the dependency to be set)
If you leave or add the HDP dependency to an HDP pack and allow sideloading in Portraitures config.json, Portraiture will attempt to load them and give them there own set, while otherwise HDP contentpacks combine into the HDP set and can't be seperately selected. This only works if the pack has the file-structure that Portraiture requires, which is often the case. Despite that, it is recommended to use the non-sideloaded approach to ensure the portraits work properly."
there's a section dedicated in Portraitures description on how to make HD Portraits mods load

Case sensitivity shouldn't matter here unless something's odd on Portraiture's end.
I mean the bad news there dissi is that since it IS checked something else is off, and that's much harder to diagnose

Way Back PT's fence warning is a common issue that just floods your log with warnings (targeting a map layer that doesn't exist in SVE)
there's a content edit on the mod page in the stickies
that one actual nullreference error might be cause by June from RSV
and if you check their nexus comments, they actually have a guide as to how to stop that from happening, but i dont think they actually added it to the update. so if it bothers you, and you are comfortable code diving. then you can stop it from happening.

Hi everyone! I'm trying to mod on Linux for the first time and my Content Patcher mods seem to be crashing either on startup or when trying to start a new save/load an old one. CP itself seems to work fine as if I just have that installed the game doesn't crash. I know I'll probably need my smapi log, but I can't seem to find it in my files? The guide says to go to 'Enter Location' but I can't find that option anywhere in my files ;; I really appreciate any help!
content patcher is crashing. do you mean like, its just going unresponsive? cause oftentimes when you are running the game through smapi. it does just... occasionally become unresponsive, then wait a few minutes and it works. sometimes it just needs time, so... before you go to the effort of getting a log ready, have you tried giving it like... 5 minutes to work itself out?
No, the game + smapi will open for a moment then immediately close. Some CP mods will let the game load, but then it crashes when I try to load or start a new save

ok, then since its cp that seems to be crashing, and you cannot get the log cause its not where it is supposed to be, then i have 2 suggestions off the top of my head. one is to reinstall smapi, and 2 is to manually check for the log file, if your comfortable looking through your files. the primary problem is we don't have logs, so its not exactly clear what's going on with your smapi issue

Okay so Content Patcher works by itself. Certain mods that rely on CP don't, such as Farm Animal Facelift, Elle's Cuter Barn Animals, and Haley Event Expansion
I think their issue with CP is that CP itself works fine, some CP mods work until they progress from the main menu, no CP mods work after that
And they are on Linux with no log
The fiest thing to verify is that they have latest smapi and game

(you're not searching for that right now but I just saw in your log that AT can't find some textures - the fix for that is to change any png file in an AT folder that uses upper case to lower case (from Texture to texture), it's a Linux thing, my friend even made me a script for that because it happens so often 😅)

So, updated question with my logs! When I try to open the game with Generic Mod Config Menu downloaded, Smapi loads and runs but then the game crashes without opening

It is interesting that the last thing in the trace is Signing into GalaxySDK followed by Registered Data/Triggers action: Pathoschild.ContentPatcher_MigrateIds Could you try grabbing another log from whatever mod list you were using before that allowed you to get into a save?

Yeah I think that would break the save, but maybe I’ll try a test save
as long as you don't save it shouldn't break anything, but you could just backup the files to be sure
^^^ and testing on a test save is good but might not show the issue if the issue is in the save (unsure if this applies to you or not)

The latest is that it runs fine with no GMCM but with GMCM it crashes on trying to load a save. Atra was taking a look here #archived-modded-support message

based on this screenshot it seems to be that libSkiaSharp is being loaded after application start, but it is failing because it needs a symbol from libfontconfig that is missing

So it looks to me like all your old mods are there, they just didn't load in because they're from 1.5. Would you like help trying to keep a similar mod list? Or would you like to start over?

Ok. How about this, you make a duplicate of your mods folder as a backup. Put it on your desktop or wherever just not in your game folder. Then delete every single mod in your mod folder except SMAPI, console commands, and save backup

i don't know a lot about snaps but i suspect they run in a sandbox/container, so they are not able to access the system libs the way conventional applications are. stardew does not ship with libfontconfig, although its bundled libSkiaSharp appears to expect it (or maybe GMCM is causing it to do so)

Okay then see above #archived-modded-support message and if you'd like (and if I have the time) I'll make a list of links to compatible versions of some of the mods you used to have. But you could do it yourself too if you like. Just go to your log and read through the yellow section at the top and the big list of mods in red text that say they were "skipped" (go to #governors-mansion and type !readlog for help on how to read your logs)

left side of ldd output is what it is looking for. right side is where it found it. but running ldd outside of the container lets it look at system locations, which it can't do at runtime
Oh it fully crashed when I loaded it one more time, completely vanilla, and tried to enter the greenhouse. I think the save is borked.

atra if you are finding out how we can run the containerized game manually from the terminal so we can capture its output and see what is going on, that would be ideal
that is not great. what you could try is to revert the save via the save backup, load it up without mods and progress to the day where your greenhouse gets unlocked
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH may need to be set
