can anyone tell me why is my "lookup anything" mod not working? i have the autogate, billboard, chestsanywhere, fast animations, and npc location mod as well
define “not working”: is it not appearing at all, is it blank, is it wrong info, etc

if by pet event you mean marnie giving you your pet, that event only triggers if you have over 5k gold earned AND it's either a wednesday or a friday OR if it's the 20th of spring or beyond

Grandpa's Farm 1.14.42 because it requires mods which aren't installed (FlashShifter.StardewValleyExpandedCP).
MSVE 2.8.0 because it requires mods which aren't installed (FlashShifter.StardewValleyExpandedCP). these mods need sve, which you dont have; so remove them

vintage reshade mod has no manifest; this is mostly due to wonky downloads, uninstall then download again-- do all of that, then update the logs and see whats up
there’s a “progression” mode that will hide certain things, were you referring to that? that’s in Settings. there’s also the icon that shows if animals need to be pet

Gotta manually reinstall my game. Download all of the mods AGAIN, gotta delete 60% of the mods bc they wont work on the 1.6.8 version for sure and then make a new save bc it will be all messed up from deleting mods 😭😭😭

Hello everyone. I have a big problem ; I use to switch to play PC and mac (mac when i'm moving, and when i'm back home i play on my pc.) But the problem is that when I play on my Mac, if I want to play on my PC after, THe saves do not synch. Example : I'm am at the day 8 on my PC but only day 3 on my Mac) I play with SMAPI. I tried to copy and paste the files that are on my mac but the problem is that it's not the same files for windows (i guess ?...) How can I do ? Thank you so much

Does anyone know how to fix the " remove all items from the renovation area" thing when trying to add the dining room? I have NOTHING there, I even started a new file and its still doing it.

I can't see any obvious conflicts there, so I'd say start by updating all your mods and if that doesn't help, verify your game files and check again

I never had those but I did have Better Chests, idk if that comes under that category?

yup, I removed all mods and even just loaded througt Stardew.exe instead of SMAPI and it was still happening

Every time this has happened before, it's because someone set their inventory to a higher amount with mods
And to remove it, you have to manually set your backpack
so, put all your mod stuff back
Then I can guide you through one of two options

if we have to do the second, you'll need to temporarily download CJB Cheats
(If you're like me and don't like to use it, you can get rid of it after sleeping one day after we do the thing, but it'll need to be installed if method 1 doesn't work)

then move that bar all the way to the left, close out temporarily, and check to see how many inventory rows you have
if you did it right, you'll temporarily have only 12 slots

no problem. I don't know why it's happening but USUALLY something is fucking with inventory
and based on your log, you did previously have a bigger backpack mod at some point
or StardewHack is there for no reason, at least
something was definitely fucking with my inventory haha

I did think "I don't even know what StardewHack is for" but didn't want to delete it and mess it again haha

stardew hack is a library used for certian mods
just so you know removing that mod likely also removes the effects of wear more rings and harvest with scythe if you had that and not the one from cjb menu

how do you update a mod?
Hi there, Recently i installed Ubuntu Desktop LTS and stardew vanilla runs just fine, but when i go to install SMAPI it wont run through steam anymore, it just goes to playing then to the usual Play Button, I can open it through the file manager but it then doesnt recognise there is a steam running, from what i can gather the directory for steam is different for me as such the SteamClient.so is in a different place so SMAPI doesnt recognise it and it wont launch through steam, there are no logs other than the base SMAPI logs which i can copy and paste into the log share page if theres any way to change the directory to find "SteamClient.so" or any known workarounds that'd be great
you delete the old folders in the Mods folder and install the new ones from the unzipped freshly downloaded files which you got from the mod website

Did you try to delete the game on your launcher or use the SMAPI installer to uninstall?
yeah relaunch the installer and it has an uninstall feature built into it
should have the base SDV game now so its a fresh game from there

Also your mods also need to be unzipped, the same way you unzipped the SMAPI installer, except the mod folders must go into the Mods folder in your game folder.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Hey everyone! I've modded SDV for years, took a break, and just now am coming back to it. I'm using a fresh Mods folder with only mods re-downloaded from Nexus, so none of them should be outdated.
For some reason though, when I go to load my game with mods, SMAPI doesn't even error out, but just sits there at "Loading mods..." and never goes anywhere past that. Any ideas to fix this?
Are you clicking inside of it or touching Smapi? 1. Don't do that. 2. Try pressing enter and give it a moment
None of that. Launching it through Steam with the launch options modification to launch through SMAPI instead and then not touching a thing.
this takes around 10-30 seconds depending on modlist and hdd speeds btw so it taking a bit isnt unheard of.

it may seem empty in your view but trace is also hidden by default so you wouldnt see it anyway

It's likely that the recolor you're using doesn't include tiles for that specific tile - a tree trunk coming out of the water. It can be manually fixed, but it's likely solely caused by the retexture you're using and nothing else. Could try running the game with only that and see if it persists.
i noticed some of the mods you downloaded havent been updated in a long time and 1.6 broke nearly everything so uh... doesnt inspire hope that those mods will work.

recolor mods had to be updated to 1.6 or they wouldnt work. like this. all of them
starblue and earthy recolor are semi up to date and work in game so they are the most complete ones ive seen and used personally
anytime you download a mod from nexus fyi check bug reports to save yourself the stress next time i have to do this myself

March 19th was when it dropped, most were patched to work but took a few weeks and are still ongoing to recolor every tile.
Read the posts from other users before you download it - sometimes even though something says it's updated for 1.6, others might've already pointed out issues that you can use to help shape your decision making!
DoctorDDub, have you successfully played modded 1.6 period? Do you have a log you can find?
I have, prior to 1.6.4. Was using Vortex (which I now realize I hate) and have since switched to doing things manually once again. My first load in manually was what started this issue.
Though while I've been here chatting, it finally loaded, close to 15-20 minutes after launch, lol. And I'm only running 15 mods, none of which have a large load time from my knowledge. So weird! Guess this'll be a lesson in patience. 🙂
Yeah, I uhh, want you to keep an eye on the clock next time and find your computer specs. Right now it seems perfectly fine, but if something happens while playing come back with a log. This is within expectations, but a bit worrying if it was working normally before.

Nope! Simply needed for other mods to run. On it's own, you won't notice any difference.
I like to think of it as an alphabet. SDV comes with letters A-Z, allowing you to create anything in the game using those letters. Mods like spacecore add additional letters, allowing for whole new words you never would've thought of. 😄
It changes enough that if you're playing multiplayer and anyone does not have it installed, they won't be able to join
So no visible side-effects, but everyone is required to have it if anyone has it

I have some questions about some of my SMAPI warnings. I've been going thru and fixing little warnings on my own just some lil extra (0) Needing replaced or renaming items to work properly until the mod owners get a new update up.
That being said I'm not sure what Mods a few of these are triggering from for me to see about a quick fix on my end. Can anyone direct me on what Mods might becausing these warnings?
If not, ill def do things the hard way and start with a clean mod list and reload 1 at a time 🙂

Most likely from Kin the Axoltl's mail, the warp warns are usually there because of legacy code or you haven't unlocked the warp itself; you can ignore it entirely.
Or one of those. Anyways it seems like a non issue

If the frameworks required aren't updated then you might have to look into a converter depending on what the mod is.

one thing i was told was if the game updates and your mod has not been updated it couuld make it to where you cant opent hat file that has a certain mod UNTIL its updated

There is a mod manager called Stardrop that is better than Vortex for this game because it communicates directly with SMAPI for some things
i've added most of my mods halfway through my game and it works fine
I use Vortex but you'll have to take your mods out of the mod folder and drop them into vortexs folders instead (makes it easier to target broken mods too) but stardrop might be good too if orn is suggesting it. in vortex it detects if theres an update to be added (through smapi obvi)

@soft prairie Personally I would advise adding mods 2-5 at a time (depending on how brave you are), playing for a few days to make sure nothing breaks, and then adding the next batch. If/when something does break, remove the most recent batch and add them back one by one until you figure out the one that doesn't work
Easier to try things out to see what happens than to tell you every possible combination

Personally I just stuff everything directly into SMAPI's mods folder and deal with updates manually, but Stardrop is easier if you aren't willing to dig around
as an additional precaution, if your testing mods that alter game mechanics especially, I would suggest rotating through the save files so if you do remove a batch of mods, you can load the save prior to adding them.
Things like texture replacers are generally (generally) safe to add/remove at whim - but anything that alters core mechanics/content is very hard to "cleanly remove" once your game saves with it
(SMAPI does install with a Save Backup mod that works once every IRL day, which I find is usually enough unless you're doing marathon 4+ hour play sessions)
I would also suggest checking the comments on the mods your trying to load to see if anyone else is reporting issues with whatever version your running - sometimes a few moments in the comments thread can save you hours of headache

It's also worth checking to see if your mod has been updated after the 1.6 release, you need to be more careful about the ones that didn't get updated in 2024 yet
I know i asked this question earlier but basically i downloaded a mod and got it to work this mroning right it changed his portrait nice and everything the way i wanted it too right, its been working ALL DAY and I added a few more mods today and none of them changes the portrait but for some reason idk why or how but his portrait reverted back to the vanilla portrait. I removed and reinstalled the mod to see if i could override it but no avail??

Sometimes mods are configured to turn on optional features if a different mod is also installed, so sometimes trial and error may be the only way

Sorry, I have a question.
I downloaded the<Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic> and have been using it continuously. It seems that after the SDV was updated to 1.65 or 1.66, character's festivals costumes and portraits were no longer displayed.
I have checked the comments and it seems that someone has provided a solution, but my method of operation seems to be incorrect and I still cannot fix this error on my own. Has someone else had the same problem as me and have already fixed it on their own?

oh this is dumb i figured out what was making my game load times awful. It was DSV of all things, I think.
Someone provided a solution on the comment interface of MOD, but it seems that I did not operate it correctly.
It seems that the code of MOD cannot be recognized after a certain update of SDV.
And it seems that this error will not be displayed in the log.

To switch branch:

In that second screenshot what you’re looking at is how the Vanilla game presents large chests. Nothing to do with any mod.

Hello, this seems to be a Content Patcher bug that could be fixed in the future. In the meantime, if you want to fix it yourself, you can open your content.json file and change any "DayEvent" field into the date and season the festival happens.
For example, change

This depends on the mod. Some requires a restart and some don't. Though it you want to brute-force for troubleshooting purpose it you can try patch reload <YourModID>

If your portrait mod doesn't have a winter version for him, it would default back to vanilla comes winter.
Because 1.6 adds winter version for all characters.

Okay I get the problem.
Your mod is not updated for 1.6 yet. It uses the old way of doing alternate costumes. SDV 1.6 uses the new way that takes priority over the old way.
So Vanilla Winter Elliott takes priority over your mod's Winter Elliott.
It should be pretty simple to fix it yourself. Wait, let me check the code.

(Or Redraw Pelican Town Expanded if you have SVE)

That doesn't necessrilly means that you're missing an xnb files. Just that the game is trying to load a location it though exists but can't find.

its trying to cast/grab a value that it cant
like its fishing for a specfic fish but it doesnt have the correct fishing rod
cant catch a legendary with a training rod askjdhaskjdh
that usually means that theres an error in the code
you could probably fix it if you find where the issue is (for example, casting a string to an int) and change it
but that might be veering into #making-mods-general

that's because that save had SVE hahaha
so technically the brazier was behind it
but now it looks like the flower is on fire
because that spot doesn't exist in vanilla
it could be an issue with the mod being outdated so its using a redundant way of re texturing the seasonal changes and the fix missing smth so it just places priority on the vanilla one

if it not working at all it could be because of the fix or another mod trying to load at the same time, negating them both' or because its outdated - even with the fixes (which could still have bugs)
i think the mod is just old
might be a bug thats poking thru the fix
if it is working but only in winter it could be that the fix made an error with most of the seasons lines so the vanilla takes priority for all but winter
