I only mess around in the mods folder, so it seems that's the case
remove everything here (probably except for SVE), load your save (do not save once you've loaded in) and see if the issue persists
That did the trick! Should I test them all, find the one that's messing things up, and notify the creator?
Might be a dumb question, but are you sure they're actually missing?
I see you use growable forage and crop bushes. And that changes how hops and blueberries work and are bought at pierres.

Growable Forage and Crop Bushes changes some vanilla crops to be bushes like tea

This also means they're lower down in Pierre's menu - I think after the kitchen stuff but I also have a mod that changes the kitchen stuff - and they must be placed on untilled soil.

Check they're showing up at any point in Pierre's (may be at the bottom of the list), but also, you can toggle the edits to individual crops!

Yup, just checked the config file. Shows that it changes blueberries, coffee beans, and hops into bushes. I'll just switch them to false

the recolour simply isn't being applied anymore?

SMAPI doesn't seem to have seen the recolor mod at all, can you double-check that it's still installed in your Mods folder?
I have it placed in a sub folder that’s in the mods folder, should I put it somewhere else?
subfolders are fine as long as they don't have any other mods' files in the way
(e.g. Mods/some other folder/Recolor Mod is fine, but if Mods/some other folder/manifest.json or similar files exist, SMAPI will stop there)
but SMAPI didn't seem to spot any folder that could've had the recolor in it
so me and my friend have the same 89 mods, stardew valley very expanded modpack with like 7 extras, his works fine, mine does not. Same versions, same mods, and yet mine doesnt load API. i do not know why. Any help? Vortex isn't encouraged here because there have been reports of Vortex messing up mod files

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.
i can confirm vortex is the biggest pain for stardew

normally, when SMAPI installs mods, it installs them right to /Mods
you have a custom mod path
so you probably have updated console commands and save backup!

You may have to ask your friend, since his log doesn't have those errors
its not meant to be installed seperately from the collection

including but not limited to json assets, removing Dynamic game assets as its defunct and wont ever be updated, and sailor styles is not updated

Sorry to trouble anyone who might be able to help, but I'm getting an error I've never seen before. I have tried reverting ALL recent updates, disabling any newly added mods since yesterday (when I could last play without issues). It's not causing the game to crash, but it's moving at about 5 FPS, unless I'm in a menu, and this weird number error is the only new thing showing in my logs: ERROR game Failed parsing condition '1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10': '1' isn't a known query or alias. So..... I have some bad news and some good news for you
The good news is that it shouldn't affect anything and you can ignore it
The bad news is that some mod - and SMAPI is frustratingly unclear on which - is adding a bad condition in one of their patches
in order to find out which one, you'd have to go through a long process of binary searching
i'd say the likely culprit is aimon's witch swamp overhaul patches
why so?
could it be causing my frame drops though? I actually can't play because it's so unbelievably laggy unless in a menu

those same warnings have been there since I added that mod when I started the farm and it hasn't caused the error to show up previously, nor have I experienced any lag with that same warning/mod loaded

it just started today, which is why I thought it must be one of the updates or newly added mods, but as I said, I went through one-by-one and reverted to previous versions that worked and disabled all newly added mods

ok, I disabled the witch swamp mod, and nothing changed. Same error message, same massive lag, unless in a menu, and it starts right from the time it finishes loading - even the money counter lags while it gets up to my current total, unless I pause, and then it jumps right up almost instantly. Lag starts again as soon as I exit the menu
I have also verified all my game files, just to make sure nothing got corrupted there, and that didn't change anything. I've checked that my graphics drivers are up to date as well

its an old mod testing method from the sims
move all your mods into a quarantine folder
(Tbh I have a guess, but it'd be embarrassing to mention and would sound like slander instead of just an educated observation.)
put back only the ones your save needs to run (frameworks, farm maps, certain expansions, etc)
launch the game, see if the error happens again
if not, add back half your mods (try and keep related ones together)

continue doing this until youve narrowed down which mod is the culprit

AFK Time Pause hasn't been updated for 1.6 and relies on harmony, which would explain why we can't see it in trace.
I already tried disabling that in a previous test, and still got the same error and lag

I'm starting to think it's something with my PC, considering disabling newly added mods, reverting to previous working versions of updated mods and disabling the two mods people thought caused it didn't help
it just seems too odd that all was fine yesterday, and nothing I've added/updated since then seems to be the culprit
Going directly to "PC problems" is probably a bit much without testing
and nobody else seems to be reporting similar issue on any of the comment sections of the mods I've updated/added, which makes it seem more like something on my end

I updated my graphics driver last night, before closing my PC, and the issues then started with Stardew today, when I booted up

Is this the only time you experience freezing? No stuttering or lagging? Because there's not much that can be glimpsed from the log-everything is running perfectly normal according to Trace
correct game freezing no stutters or lags but my mouse will not move and i had to close the game and smapi
Can you turn your audio off completely in game? The sliders all the way to the left, I mean. I honestly don't know why it would be doing this.
so i downloaded Grapes of Furgill again after not using it for a few months. I noticed that the common grapes are being shown as regular grapes and the starters aren't the common starters that i plant in spring. I reinstalled the mod to no luck. Can someone help me?

i have tried vortex (nexus) but i was informed it was not good to use so i uninstalled and was told to use starmods instead

I would first try to use nexus
Curseforge modding is very outdated, it's best to only use nexus for modding. If you want to use a mod manager use stardrop as it was made for stardew valley (other mod managers don't download mods properly)

If you have very few mods, you can also just install them manually via SMAPI rather than using a mod manager. It's very easy!

I tried nexus because I actually have an issue, I was trying to update my mods to see if the issue would fix itself... I built a stable, clicked my horse to name it and when I confirmed the name, my experience bars moved from top left corner to the middle of my screen... Don't know how, don't know why...So yeah, I do have an issue... And I can't update... I'm in France and nexus is still a bit slow

Under View > Settings you should be able to set the SMAPI location, follow the instructions in the Stardrop wiki (2nd link from the governor command) and it should get you up and running!

i click the folder to add smapi then i click smapi and it just takes me to the smapi installer

Run the installer again (it won't hurt anything) and grab the green text at the end to copy as your launch path if you want to open SMAPI directly through Steam

Hello, can someone help me figure out why Japanese Buildings isnt changing my coop but it is changing my house?? Is it bc its my first coop (on meadowlands farm)?? it was working earlier even working in conjunction with lumisteria buildings but even alone it doesnt work now. I tried fairy buildings and that didnt change my coop either

help, after i update stardew valley expanded code, immersive farm 2 remastered, predictor, billboard anywhere and adding ui info suite 2 my stamina are infinite.
i already check my CJB Cheats Menu and i didnt turn on the infinite stamina, also my health bar can decrease just fine

I'd recommend temporarily removing CJB Cheats to see if that fixes the issue somehow. The mods you listed are unlikely to do anything to your stamina, even by accident. If that doesn't work, uploading your log might help someone spot the issue.

unrelated to the issue but you should turn off any farm buildings in Redraw Pelican Town that are covered by Japanese Buildings
you won't have any complications if you don't, but you can save yourself unnecessary edits

Hi All! I'm just getting back to the game after a long hiatus, but my SMAPI doesn't seem to be working, when I run the Log Parser only the game and SMAPI show up.

well thats your first step. 1.6 changed everything, smapi has had several major updates, the modpocalypse happened, youre gonna have to update everything

how do you install the extra portrait mods (i.e. the sophia ones) for the ohodavi anime portraits mod? there do not appear to be instructions on the page
you replace the one in the SVE folder
but Sophia wasn't updated since 2022, so you shouldn't use her yet

in fact, for now you shouldn't use ohodavi's portraits unless you write your own edits, the 1.6 files are all .xnb replacers for now

no, there are just no winter portraits yet, so those will be vanilla
the ones that have them are in the Portrait anime mod ohodavi 1.6 Update, which are replacers

if i just replace all of the winter xmbs with the original portrait xmbs retitled (Character)_Winter.xmb it should work
you really shouldnt be messing with the xnbs at all. down that path lies ruin, especially if youre using older mods with newer stardew

sorry to butt in but what do you mean? I have a meadowlands farm and Gwen's Medieval Buildings works on the starter coop. and I just tested seasonal Japanese buildings out of curiosity, and that works too
I just tested it and that is a bug, on my end the coop on meadowlands farm is being edited
- one thing you should do is removing
grapeponta's Vanilla Interiors, they are included in VPR
if you're up for troubleshooting, start by sending a new log with a patch summary (just enter the farm map and copy patch summary into your SMAPI command window and hit enter)
that was just from looking at their log, I hadn't tested it before

This is unrelated to your responses, in 1.5 I downloaded the ohodavi anime portraits with the xmbs
Please reset your game files. This will fix any broken game files, but won't affect your save files or mods.
If you use XNB mods, see using XNB mods for more info about why they're deprecated, and a list of Content Patcher alternatives.

you can use them in a content patcher mod, but don't put them in the Contents folder

what's the best way for me to answer you going further? Your install of VMV is missing the C# part, so i suggest reinstalling (no idea how you managed to get the CP part but not the C# one in updating however)
I see no error that could result in a crash related to VMV : the red line is about a query not being parsable, but it would then basically ignore the related trigger, which is just sending a mail in some cases.
I see an error related to polyamory something, but it happens earlier too. Is that the log after the crash? It's like it's missing what's causing the crash.
Feel free to ping me to answer and tell me if you prefer me to continue discussion on VMV forum, but i can't see how the mod itself would cause a crash here
I can't get the feeding basket from Animal Husbandary to work. I've put multiple types of treets in there (Corn, Carrot, Cave Carrot, Apple, Cauliflower, Radish, Melon, Kale, Bok Choy) and right clicked on my 1 month old chicken, and it just opens the Animal Info screen that says Name/Age/Happiness/Etc.
Any help would be really greatly appreciated, thank you.

A conversation came up internally while talking about our new mod manager and I wanted to field some opinions on it.
Is it fairly normal for users to rename StardewModdingAPI.exe to StardewValley.exe and starting the game from that?

i'm under the impression that some mod is LOADING events in the game and erase all vanilla ones

you don't need to do anything on Linux (on steam deck), not even put a path into steam under launch options, smapi installer does everything

I've never fed any animals a treat yet, and from what I've seen, Cow -> Radish/Maranth, Chicken -> Wheat/Corn, Duck -> Bok Choy/Bean Hotpot, Pets -> Tuna/Beef/Largemouse Bass/ Pig -> Melon/Pumpkin, Rabbit -> Cauliflower, Crystal Fruit, Red Cabbage, Goat -> Artichoke/Grape/Apple, Ostrich -> Any Vegies, and All like Cave Carrots.
But I can't give any of those to any of my animals (Cows, Goats, Chickens), but my Animals are only 1->4 months old.

It seems like you have two different mods/Content Packs that add the Beatrice npc
Beatrice has been integrated into East Scarp, no extra mod needed anymore.
I think I remember seeing in a discussion here that the beatrice npc in now included in East Scarp NPCs and dosn't need it's own content pack anymore, but that's something that needs validation

FYI - Mac and Linux users don't rename anything.
try disabling mod dark village, see if event triggers (naturally or by debug command) and let me know with a ping

Most obviously false file validation errors (making troubleshooting more confusing and requiring reinstallation of SMAPI if users ever try to validate their game files), plus inability to easily play vanilla by just running StardewValley.exe
I suggest updating everything that is saying it wants to be updated, and delete everything under "skipped mods" that says its not compatible or outdated
Also I think every Stardew Valley update would overwrite the EXE and then start Stardew unmodded, potentially resulting in crashes, error items or other issues if someone were to load their modded save ? I might be wrong on that one

I know it's not about Vortex, that it's about the new mod manager, but some of the same principles will apply.
In the near future, we'll be opening the floor a bit more widely as Stardew Valley is the first game we'll be supporting in the new app. So little details like this are important to get right!
Another detail wrt renaming files: the idea of a mod manager renaming SMAPI's exe to Stardew Valley.exe when that isn't actually part of the installation steps for SMAPI also, at least to me, feels very rude!
i've gone ahead and deleted dark village because i doubt it'll ever update; it never worked anyways 😭 but i never had an issue with it messing up events.
but, yes, that seemed to fix it 😔 again i really appreciate you being patient with me, i can't believe a mod that never seemed to bother events suddenly bothered them 😵💫
it loads events instead of editing, but since you also have lot of other mods, i guess most events were fine because those mod edited them, adding them back basically
so the issue was quite more invisible than if all vanilla events were affected
yeah i would have never guessed, honestly, so i appreciate it

a bit 😭 i was starting to think the save alone was borked, but i guess it was just the dead mod that broke it a bit, despite not having that issue before

Just one thing the museum expansion mod i dont want to delete it but its on the skipped mods what can i do?
that mod hasn't been updated since 2023, and with that kind of mod it means it sadly doesn't work with the current version of Stardew Valley. If you continue to use it you will run into bugs for sure eventually

and then rename "StardewModdingAPI" to "Stardew Valley" like nonparelli said in order to trick the Xbox App into launching the modded version of the game when you click on "Play" in the xbox app

Now if you wish to test that you correctly installed SMAPI, you can click on Play in the xbox app, it should launch a console windows named SMAPI that displays some text, then launch the game on top of it (it will do this every time, the SMAPI console window is useful for lots of things regarding mods)

Mods are usually safe to add or remove as long as they don't directly modify your savefile.
Also, even if you somehow break your game, fixing it is usually as simple as reinstalling the game on Steam/wherever.
(And I'd recommend making a backup of your save before trying to mod so that you can always restore it later in case things go horribly wrong )

I'm a little confused right now as well cause it seems like you are in the right place and did the right thing 😅. Though I am just seeing the log says there's 1 mod with warnings and then doesn't say anything more. Seems like something gets registered and then nothing anymore. Could you remove all folder except Save Backup, Console Commands? If you downloaded the newest version of generic mod config menu, then leave that in too, that can be used as a test mod cause I know it works

you just kind of remember what mods go with what save file yourself
after i removed all folder what should i do?
obviously if you open a save file that's been modded in some way you'll probably notice something broken before you save over it
run the game once and then send the smapi log here so we can look at it again together!
and some very modded saves will have a red 🚫 on the save in the menu, even in vanilla NVM that might just be how modded clothing items show up

look at your mods folder you put them in E

If you are modded and they arent you might not be able to join, have lag, it causes issues

You can though do vanilla in multiplayer and modded on your own
it doesn't simply break the game just like that - or at least that's something I never heard of. It might crash the game, yes, but unlike some other games it tends to not render the game unusable
hi! huh , thats sooo weird how its missing apart of it. i usually download manually and dont touch the files after (unless to put nyapu's portraits in but thats for other files atm). ill go do that now ^^ the error most likely was there before and i just never noticed knowing me ahah , i Did update vmv earlier that day so maybe something went wrong with that download
as for the error with polyamory sweet (technically i think its with another mod that has to do with polyamory sweet) i know that thats not the cause because ive been having that error (i believe it has to do with not having a spouse/spouse room? i never checked) and its been safe to ignore on all my saves that have it though now that i think about it i Should check with the mod author just to be safe. also yeah it is the log i got after the crash. its kinda weird, when i go to the files to get the smapi log it doesn't Say smapi-crash.txt . its just the latest which is probably why it doesnt say the error maybe? first ill see if stardew is still crashing since i did shut off my pc in between now and then and my friend Did suggest that that might fix it. if its still doing it ill do what you said and see if maybe that fixes it (i mean ill still do it either way since i need the C# part)
oh also i dont mind where we discuss, we can do it here unless others want us to move in which case i also have the vmv discord so we could go wherever ^-^ thank u for ur time !

This portion is the very important part I need to see
bad news it still crashes/exits out but after i reinstalled vmv (and figured out Why the c# wasnt there, i use stardrop to play and it mustve slipped my attention to click on the Other vmv listing silly me) and now its frozen/loading wheel (i know its frozen because i was able to move a bit before it happened, also because of the loading wheel). im not sure if this is an improvement or not.

hi last night i reported I was having issues with grapes of furgill. but i fell asleep before it could be talked about. can someone help me figure out why the common grapes is still being shown as grapes? I tried reinstalling grapes of furgill and no luck. here's my log.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

heres the log from now https://smapi.io/log/1119f35a275b4d428155401abe67c08d but id just like to say that ive been having problems since last night with the game where it would let me into my save file for a few seconds before kicking me out (this happened After i had been playing for awhile and i had exited the game before the day ended because i skipped a cutscene/heart event) originally it was thought to be something from vmv but it was confirmed not to be by lumina and now that i added the c# of vmv (which i was missing previously) it now freezes instead of kicking me out which im not sure if thats a constant yet or not.
