Helloo, trying to get mods for the first time on this computer! I have downloaded smapi and content patcher. I run the game through steam via link from smapi. Sapmi opens, runs the game, but none of the mods appear. Any1 familiar w this problem? <3

I solved the issue. I'm not very good with tech so I didn't know what it was saying, but I ended up changing the permissions on the folder to "EVERYONE" and it installed properly.

Go to Program Files (x86) >Steam > steamapps > common
Rightclick on the Stardew Valley folder and click "properties"
Go to the security tab, and under the list of group or user names, click edit.
Go through all group or user names and click the allow box for "full control" for all of them.
Also if it doesn't work right away when changing the permissions, try restarting the computer.

If it still doesn't work after the restart, dogneri, you can use PC Health to check the file permissions and fix them, which will then require, you guessed it, another restart. There's a visual bug where the folders show read only but folder permissions don't DO anything, it's the files inside it that are locked.

Hey, by the way, I figured out that random freeze error! Turns out it was any mod by a specific author; they probably had some bugs going in their code. I didn’t need the mods anyhow, so problem solved!! Thanks for all your help before!

just to let you know, its not json assets. just json. json assets is a mod, json is a file type. i dont know for sure what files need to be there, but verifying should make all the game files regenerate

no, the file this warning said was missing is just a json file. json assets is a completely different thing
but anyway you dont need to install json assets unless you have another mod that needs it
but for all mods, you do need to unzip them and place only the unzipped folder in your mods folder

Unique downloads are what get mod authors traffic and DP so it's perfectly fine for Nexus mods at least.

Hii :) I don't know if this is the right place to ask or not but I need some help with a mod I installed. It's the Atelier wildflour crops and forage mod. You can make saplings out of certain forage but for some reason there is some things that won't turn into saplings even tho I've seen a photo of them as a sapling. Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Yeah what’s weird is that it started all of a sudden. After testing some new mods out and them working fine even after saving anywhere. The next day: stutters. And save anywhere has worked just fine on my legacy stardew before for ages…
Annnd to boot no matter how far back I go on this saves backup saves, still stutter
(That last sentence always makes me roll my eyes, for the record. Remember modding rule #1!)
Use a normal save rather than a Save Anywhere save, please.
Oh but save anywhere is great…like I said has worked for ages so how could it be that? It’s an awesome mod unless you have an alternative? I can’t just only save at end of day my gaming schedule doesn’t work good for that :/

Well that sucks. Hope someone finds a better workaround. I really don’t have time to wait to leave my game till end of day every play through. I usually only game in spurts with my schedule so save anywhere was perfect for that.
But yes, save anywhere is a buggy mess. I used it once and it broke so much crap with my in game day that i had to restart the day

Hey all. I've been working on making a content patcher visual mod and to test out I went through all the steps I found in a guide and started up the game. But every time i've tried, SMAPI comes up with the same red message that the mod cant be added "(Name)/assets because it's an empty folder." Is there a way to fix this?

ok cuz it's their first time and I don't wanna heavily mod their first experience
but I played multiplayer with friends before and the time running all the time is true pain without the time pause or slowing down time passage
Recolors are client side last I checked. But in general, we recommend matching ALL mods, and using Alternative Textures if you don’t like the way the others decorate.
(They still need to download those textures, though, they can just turn them off.)
actually since they didn't play and it's just my opinion that the multiplayer time passage kinda pain do you think I should let them see the normal way first and see if they are fine with it?

It usually just happens with spotty connection, but the save stored on your computer should be the same. You can go to Properties and General for Stardew by right clicking it to check or un-check Keep games in save cloud, BTW.

Also, part of your issue might specifically be the fact you have different folders you're moving them too. A common issue we see is people making a folder for their mods (usually also named Mods.) they just downloaded and forgetting to transfer them properly.

If you want to be safe about it, you're going to need to make a checklist of every mod you want installed, delete every empty folder in your mods folder, delete the other folder you use to store it, and tick the boxes.
Because the only way to ensure everything works is a clean uninstall, and to make sure you don't extract mods inside the folder itself, but from your downloads

What I presume the issue is, is that you downloaded the mods and sent the zips to the folder to be extracted inside it, right?
Your pc warns you if you are trying to extract it outside and you already have a copy of it.
But it doesn't if you extract it inside the folder without a path. So it doesn't stop you from replacing files.

Keep in mind that the Bus Stop map resize was not part of the alpha release, so any mod updates released prior to the official 1.6 launch date that impact the farm may still be outdated with old warp coordinates.
