Hello, I'm absolutely stumped!
Right now I ave 0 mods in the mod folder, and I'm just trying to get Smapi to work
its like stuck on an infinite load/not responding when I try to open the game.
I've done the basic troubleshooting but none of that has worked and Im at a loss for how Smapi is even supposed to work

I might have to do manual download, smapi does NOT like the steam deck
Idk whats wrong with this mod, its just a portait change and i check the mod to make sure it wasnt missing other ones when downloading and it didnt say it needed any others

guys, me and my friend is trying to play SMAPI in a local coop, but the controller dont connect on the second person, what I need to do?
By downloading the latest version from the nexus and just run the installer. It will do the rest.
In the future when you update mods never overwrite. Always delete the folder.

Everything else works fine (cutscenes are perfectly normal and modded NPCs are fine). Would the error be in the logs? Or is there a known dialogue mod that is broken rn?
I don't exactly have an error nor seem my mods to be in any conflict with each other but for some reason I am no longer able to plant normal tree seeds on normal grass outside my farm, for example in cindersap forest I can only plant tree seeds on the yellow tillable tiles, but not on the green grass, effectively only allowing me to plant them at the edge of water. On my farm itself (1.6 new farm) it works fine.
I can't send a smapi log because I don't have an error log and if I try to upload the smapi-latest the website tells me the request entity is too large
The only thing I can remember changed between when I was able to plant them normally (sometime in Spring) and now (Fall) is that I deleted the "crops anytime anywhere" mod at start of Fall on my save. Reason for that was that it did not recognize it's own config for "don't grow stuff out of season" and still gave me fruits on my summer trees.

no but it hadn't made any problems either. Had it enabled since starting the farm, so I would be kinda surprised if it would suddenly be the reason I can't plant trees outside my farm

I know 1.6 made it so you can't plant trees in town anymore
But other than that idk what's going on with your game
only palces I would evber plant trees outside my farm was cindersap forest and the quarry. I don't have the quarry unlocked yet though, so cindersap is the only place where I noticed it cause it interfered with my gameplay

hi im trying to update SMAPI so I can play with mods but every time i try to update SMAPI and then load the game it says I haven't updated it and im using the older version of SMAPI - im playing on Windows
I don't know why, but I reinstalled Crops Anytime Anywhere again, started smapi for a config and set the settings in the config how I need them before loading a save and now everything seems fixed again. or at least I don't have out of season peaches and i can plant trees on grass again outside the farm. Still weird that it for some reason locked me from that when I deleted the mod <.<

this specific one is legacy coop and barns but it does it with ALL coop & barn replacements even the cuter mod
Okay so you get this screen when you use any mod that replaces the interiors of coops?
yeah it's split into two and the top half gets extended by a LOT on the right side
So question. You have three things changing the coop:
Legacy Coops, Idadia Coop, and VPR
can we try turning COOP off on everything but the one you want editing it?

I had to edit the mod I created to load last because of it
I'm using an old version of Seasonal Villager Outfits (from 2022 I think) and while it seems to be working for the most part, they didn't have their special outfits for the egg festival. It was just the spring outfits. It's a content patcher mod, so I'm not sure why it isn't working. I prefer this one to the slightly cuter aesthetic one, so I'd like to keep it if I can.

has anyone else noticed chickens getting 'stuck' trying to leave the coop in the mornings? they stop on the hatch tile and take ages to leave - it doesn't seem to be happening when i test in vanilla, hence my suspicion it's a mod issue

I'd update the seasonal villager outfits, but it's no longer on nexus.
Vanilla NPCs have an issue with dialogue. Modded NPCs (and Shane with his immersive mod) are fine. Cutscenes are unaffected.

You have multiple copies of custom greenhouse, try deleting the one that isn't for 1.6

A few main issues can cause this:
(Windows only) Make sure the SMAPI window isn't in select mode (the SMAPI window will show 'Select' in the top-left corner before 'SMAPI'). This pauses loading so you can see what the console says, enabled when you select any text on the console window. To fix it, just click the console and press the 'enter' key a few times.
The 'select mode' indicator.
An antivirus hampering SMAPI in loading up the game. Often this results in larger gaps of time than is usual in the log (several seconds to do a very basic task). You can try disabling your antivirus to check if this is the cause, and if that fixes it, re-enabling the antivirus while whitelisting SMAPI, Stardew Valley, and the game folder.
One tip: If you aren't sure if you have an antivirus, Windows has a built-in one named Windows Defender.
(Windows only) If you have a dedicated graphics card, run the game on it and not on the integrated graphics card. See https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#dedicated-gpu
If you have PyTK installed but are no longer using it, try removing it to see if this helps the load times.

hi! im having an issue with my farmhouse. before the 1.6 update i was using 2 mods, one for the interior and one for the exterior. after i updated my mods for the farmhouse, my farmhouse exterior is showing as the smallest farmhouse exterior despite it being fully upgraded, i dont know why that is. I messaged the developer of the exterior mod and they said it wasnt their mod causing the issue, and so i deactivated it to find out that's true. I dont know if the interior mod is the issue, but here's my log. please help! thanks a lot :D

Okay so it looks like when you converted them they both affect coal: "Two content packs want to load the 'Mods/lumisteria/Coal' asset with the 'Exclusive' priority"
and they are both marked priority exclusive
So neither want to work because your nodes is saying "im coal just me no one else" and your clumps are saying "im coal just me no one else"
Let's update these
and drop these

This is the other issue I found. Your content.json for the heart clumps isnt happy
its more than likely a missing comma or a bracket {} or [] that isnt closed
I'd like to see if cleaning those up a bit will help but if you get the same error please bring a new log with all that cleaned up? π

Sure. I swear I got the right ones. Usually, I use Nexusmods, pull it down, open the zip file, delete the old out of the mods folder, put in the new and go from there. But with all the errors, I'm looking up the mod in th emod compatibility page first, and downloading the unofficial when it says it's broken, or going back to Nexus and re-downloading from there.
My auto-feeders aren't feeding. Yes, I have the Deluxe Coop and Barn. Yes, I've filled my silo.

The mods at the top are definitely updated (I checkes each version as I downloaded to make sure it said the version it was supposed to be) and multi yield/shop tile caused more issues when removed (smapi says they should still be compatible on the website, so I put them back in). I am still having issues with dialogue. I switched custom fixed dialogue to the compatible version (in case that was an issue) and that didn't fix it.

found the culprit and it wasnt vpr cause i had already turned those off
it was the increase animal size population cause they also add an expansion to the coops & barns without it being toggable
so i yeeted it for the time being

I was able to pare down some of the errors, but I'm still getting some weirdness in teh log, telling me that mods that don't exist in the Mod folder can't be added, one complaining that manifest.json doesn't exist in the file, and a really strange issue where if I go into the cellar, when I try to come out I'm surrounded by black and can't get back into the house. I believe I may be haunted π

sigh confirming I'm haunted. I followed the Google sheet. I removed bunches of mods. I re-downloaded each of the flagged mods based on the provided URLs and double checked that the correct versions of the files were downloaded, expanded, and put into the mods folder after deleting the old folder. The log is still showing a mod that can't be added that doesn't exist in the mods folder, one telling me I need FlashShifter.SVE and IF2R-FTM that I can't find, and 3 insisting I need to check for new versions after I already had verified several times I had the right ones. On the Immersive Farm 2 Remastered mod, it says that the standard farm must be selected upon new save. Does that mean if I change my farm to standard on my current save that this won't work?

dont use vortex lol but under the steam folder stardew theres a mod folder but also under user/appdata/roaming/stardewvalley sometimes a mod folder gets put there

The instructions for immersive farm 2 said that they were different mods. I can delete the one that isn't remastered, but I'm not getting errors.... wouldn't hurt to remove it

I can enter the village just fine. But no npcs in there (is that normal?) When I try to enter a building I get a 'nobody lives here' message. Except for the red lodge at the top (Dimitri's building from what I read) I get warped to where the screenshot is but no farmer, not walking around (even with no clip) possible. And when I use a tool it freezes and I cannot even open the menu anymore.

Soo, this is less a mod support question and more something you need to report as a bug to the author, as they seem to be under the assumption it's been fixed everywhere

Yes, your mods will stay installed. And your save data retains information from removed mods.

Yep, as long as you reinstall the mods. And if you need to remove them completely, that's also perfectly fine-well, unless you have a bundle mod

Only vanilla NPcs are affected.
The mods at the top are definitely updated (I checked each version as I downloaded to make sure it said the version it was supposed to be) and multi yield/shop tile caused more issues when removed (smapi says they should still be compatible on the website, so I put them back in). I am still having issues with dialogue. I switched custom fixed dialogue to the compatible version (in case that was an issue) and that didn't fix it. (I am on the steam deck using forced compatibility linux runtime)

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Okay I'm putting this here because I just started my game up for the first time in like a year (got all my mods updated for 1.6...) and now when I exit my home, my character and house are just gone/invisable. Has anyone had this happen after the update and/or do they know which mod is causing the bug? I'm going to pull my hair out, I JUST WANT TO PLAY lmao. Probably going to have to go in one at a time to see which one is causing it though.

hello! sorry i took quite a while, i had to leave the house for a bit. I've updated all mods and removed the non-functional ones like u said! There's just one mod I can't find the updated version for on nexus, but I went back into the game and my farmhouse exterior is still the smallest version despite being fully expanded on the inside.

Possibly, but my Stardew isn't laggy at all and runs pretty smoothly. Nor have I ever had a problem with this many mods, but I'll just make use of my save anywhere mod so I don't have to restart days oftenly
I get what you're saying, overtime the processor can become damaged and not work so good anymore from overworking it or overheating- although I'm not 100% sure that could be the cause of your game crashing
Most likely is honestly, I can't think of any other reason as I was very cautious with downloading mods and making sure to install every requirement needed

Being more specific this time. I am getting an error for NPC Dusty even though I have deleted that mod. Is my save hooped and I'm stuck with this? It also looks like I have an error with DustBeauty's Industrial Furniture for AT, and Gwen's craftables. I am less concerned as they just seem to warn me once. Smart Building is also throwing errors but it doesn't seem to be hurting the game or performance at all... I would fix all of these if I can though. Any ideas?

I might add onto what I said by saying laptops usually can't run as great as pcs so unless you're 100% sure you're laptop is built for the amount of mods you're running then you're game is likely crashing due to it the device being overworked (

Anyway, skins means you're gonna be able to buy them or hatch them as usual
so if you buy a chicken, you have a chance of getting a, say, BrahmaCream Chicken if that was checked
or if you hatch a chicken, it might come out as SilkieCream Chicken
