That's what I thought, but I looked at the folders and I'm guessing it's not recognizing them because I'm running Seasonal Outfits for RSV?

i actually do have content patcher! not there though (i added it to the mods file) i just completely forgot to extract it

It's run by the community, and requires people to update it and report whether it works or not. So try to find a version that does work and submit it.

How do you update mods for when 1.6 releases?
delete the old version and install the new
but 1.6 isnt out yet so if you see an 1.6 update for a mod, dont do it yet
Hello! I can't seem to get seasonal cute characters for sve or immersive farm 2 working. is there a way to fix this?

Immersive Farm 2 requires SVE as a dependency because it utilizes assets from SVE.
Same with Seasonal SVE portraits and seasonal cute characters. You chose mods that require SVE. Which won't work if you don’t have SVEE
So, either download the non sve version of those character portraits mods and a different farm, or download stardew valley expanded

i play on steam, but its ran through SMAPI. // should i just have two saves then? like only play save01 on one device and then start a new save (save02) to play that save only on the other device that has more mods installed? or do u recommend i just create a new steam account for the other device? 🤔
You should either use different saves, or make sure you have the same set of mods on each machine

What’s the issue with having the same set of mods anyway?
i play on [an older] macbook but it doesnt have a lot of storage and i dont think it can handle a lot of bigger mods like sve. (i only use visual mods and it sounds like a jet the second i start up the game). but i also have a windows computer with better specs, and i want to get mods that i havent gotten on the mac. if that even makes sense
so, i've never modded anything before, including stardew. I'm trying to get the BFAVLungDragons 2.0.0 by stormdrakon mod to function. I have no clue what I'm doing. 😅 I have everything downloaded and in place, but it hasn't actually modded the game. any advice?

Hm. I see. Thing is, I already did the CPU priority and affinity as well as exempting it from Windows Defender, but I'm not particularly sure how to dedicate a GPU to Stardew? Drivers are all up to date already and I do in fact use GeForce Experience

Here's the error, it looks like the TownR3.tmx file is looking in a different parent folder for the tile sheets.
you have to reroute the tilesheet path for the spring_daisyextras for it to work, you could report it to the author
I’m gonna move my mod questions to here but basically stardew valley expanded was working,I wanted to add more mods like it and now it won’t let me load my save file. Online said all the mods should be compatible?
My computer usually handles mods pretty well too I had a TON in the sims and it ran fine
I made sure for each mod to download all the required other mods btw so I don’t think that’s the issue and it doesn’t say there’s any specific issues when I run the game it just stops responding
Is it taking too long to load the save game? You may consider using fastload or spritemaster mod to improve the loading time
Sdv uses one core of your cpu after all
It takes a while to load yeah then all of a sudden it freezes and I get a pop up saying program not responding
If there is any incompatibility that causing this, you have to post your log
don't click on anything when loading the game, it is known issue

You should reread AT's description. You'll need one of the tools it adds to change the horse texture yourself.

It can be played without them, all the NPCs are optional add-ons. However the expansion is much fuller by having them.

SMAPI doesn't work with the compatibility version of the game (see the error message), and if that's the only version that works on your computer, you'll just have to play vanilla (or use xnb mods, i suppose, but we don't recommend that)
!reset will reset your game files, but i don't think that will fix your problem

Anyone who has used Margo, just got it and replaced the updated old prestige mod, is there a way to edit my Stardew save and reset the Skill ranks/prestiges in margo? The old Prestige mod I was using broke bad and so I got rid of it but when I replaced it with Margo my skills are multi-prestiged already.
Is there a way to wipe the slate clean, per say, without starting a new save? Just reset all my skills back to 0 and wipe out the Margo prestige ranks already there?
i don't know the answer, but i would be very surprised if margo did not include a SMAPI console command to do this. i would check margo's README for something like that
Alright. Yeah, I was using a community edited version of the old prestige mod (Apparently the original author is the same person who made Margo? At least that's what I read?) and it went crazy around the 4th prestige of my skills and xp went nuts. Go figure when I removed the old prestige addons updated by the community and installed the Margo mod it looks to have skills prestiged multiple times already in margo XD

EDIT: Used a save game editor and reset all the experience and professions, fixed this. Somehow that values for a lot of my skills became negative in massive numbers! (Talking negative ten million in mining and such). Learned my lesson with this one XD

SMAPI 3.18.0 raised deprecation levels to the final stage, meaning SMAPI will now show yellow warning dialogues for mods with deprecated code. For the user, this means that the mod will break in the upcoming SMAPI 4.0 if it is not updated. If you are concerned about losing certain mods, it is recommended to create a backup of Stardew Valley 1.5.6 now (see !backup), but at present most modders are updating their code so that their mods can be released when 1.6 releases. Most major mods are not expected to be broken for a long period of time after 1.6 releases.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

And you're sure the edits aren't applying? your log is saying the SCA edits are applying, but since it's Spring 1, they'll all mostly have their original costumes, just touched up a bit
If you're absolutely sure they're not being edited, go talk to Robin for me and screenshot what you see

It does that for you if you download and extract the mod
You just extract a content patcher mod like a normal mod, and you don't pack it into the game.

I mean realistically if you don't plan on releasing it just swipe a hair mod, replace their image(s) with yours on hairstyle XYZ, and pick that hairstyle
You can create a Content Patcher pack instead of manually replacing XNB files. Once you set up the basic mod files, it's just a few lines to do the swap:

That's due to a game bug with how it recalculates player attributes. It can happen with vanilla buffs too, but it's more noticeable with the tractor since it's a bigger effect. There's a full fix for it in the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.6 already. In the meantime, make sure you don't change the tractor speed while on the tractor to avoid that.

You can dismount the tractor before editing the Generic Mod Config Menu settings, and it should be fine. The speed will also return to normal when you save & reload.

I am amused as hell that that was a bug and that it's getting fixed in 1.6 though
(The tractor mod actually taught me there was something weird with buffs before I ever even started learning how modding works because I made this same mistake 😆)
In 1.5.6, buffs work by directly changing the player data (e.g. doing player.speed += 5). Then when the buff expires, it manually undoes the change (e.g. player.speed -= 5). But there's many cases where it loses track of the values, which can lead to things like buffs getting applied/unapplied multiple times, the buff being removed when it was already removed, buffs unapplying a different value than they applied, etc.

(In 1.6, the buff system was completely rewritten. Players now have base attributes that don't change, then it calculates the sum of the buff effects on top of that. When a buff is removed, it just recalculates the sum.)

For the user, this means that the mod will break in the upcoming SMAPI 4.0 if it is not updated. If you are concerned about losing certain mods, it is recommended to create a backup of Stardew Valley 1.5.6 now (see !backup), but at present most modders are updating their code so that their mods can be released when 1.6 releases. Most major mods are not expected to be broken for a long period of time after 1.6 releases.
I would only do !backup if I want to keep 1.5.6 with that mod, correct?

yeah if you dont care about some of your mods potentially breaking and not being updated after 1.6 you dont need to do the backup

you can use anything you want to keep it straight, like naming your farms "Vanilla" and "Modded" so it shows on the save load screen. but in both games you'll see all your saves, since they both load from the same data folder

No, you do not need Nexus Premium to download any mods from Nexus - it's only if you want to download something faster, which is generally not necessary for any Stardew Valley mod. If you want to download a mod from Nexus, click "Manual Download" on the files tab and then scroll and click "Slow Download" to download the mod!

In general, you can figure out whether a mod is (most likely) to work with the current version of Stardew Valley based on its update date. This is not a guarantee things will work or not work, but is accurate for most mods.
- 2016: Do not install (meant for incredibly early versions of Stardew)
- 2017: Do not install (meant for pre-multiplayer Stardew)
- 2018: Unlikely to work. If a Content Patcher mod, it might work, but in general it is not likely the mod will work.
- 2019: Content Patcher mods can be tried from here fairly easily. C# mods should still be mostly avoided.
- 2020: Content Patcher mods should work, but may be buggy. C# mods may work, but due to the 1.5 update there may be conflicts.
- 2021+: Should be usable.

Two content packs want to load the 'Maps/Blacksmith' asset (Bye Bye Clint, Hello Clarice and Stardew Valley Expanded). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility
As for not working, that's normal if the screen whites out-it's loading.

The slow loading is especially true with multiple add ons and if you click the screen while it says not responding.

It's normal to take up to ten or twenty minutes based on your specs, and if you click it resets the loading.

SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance. It is highly configurable and you can choose which options to enable.
Use this or Fastloads to help with loading times. (Don't use both)
Also, any mod that tries to entirely replace a vanilla npc will probably not work with Stardew Valley Expanded.
So, my solution to help with your lag?
Delete Downtown Zuzu and wait until it gets a content update in 1.6 as it is bare bones as is and will be optimized to not cost as many resources (rn it is a resource sink that doesn't have much to offer. This will change as the author has been working on it for three years and plans on releasing the big overhaul and update post 1.6)

When you delete Zuzu and open up the game, it will say "Error handler removed content from the game to prevent a crash" in the corner of your screen when you load into the farm. This means it was successful.
(Normally I don't tell people to delete harmless expansions, but rn it offers little for the load time and removing it alongside installing a load optimizer should expedite the process and make it less likely for you to close the game)

Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Hello this is similar error I encountered in the mod due to a discrepancy in the official modding tutorial wiki regarding music track implementation. If it's the same issue, that would occur around 4pm In the cavern or during a screen fade, it was fixed in version 5.4.2. Looks like the version you're using might be problematic.

Okay, how old is the video guide you are using, and did you make sure to double check the instructions specific for your computer? Mac, Linux and Windows have different file path instructions.

You just need launch options and then whatever mods you want you put in the mods folder (unzipped)

In general, you can figure out whether a mod is (most likely) to work with the current version of Stardew Valley based on its update date. This is not a guarantee things will work or not work, but is accurate for most mods.
- 2016: Do not install (meant for incredibly early versions of Stardew)
- 2017: Do not install (meant for pre-multiplayer Stardew)
- 2018: Unlikely to work. If a Content Patcher mod, it might work, but in general it is not likely the mod will work.
- 2019: Content Patcher mods can be tried from here fairly easily. C# mods should still be mostly avoided.
- 2020: Content Patcher mods should work, but may be buggy. C# mods may work, but due to the 1.5 update there may be conflicts.

Make sure you only have one copy of each dependency (also known as a framework) and-you should unzip them directly into the folder

And the fix I mentioned was for making sure yours wins in cp but multiple spouses uses exclusive, which is bad practice in general now.

it went modular, so some of them are in submods now
(I've seen PyTk and Entoarox with literally send 62k errors in the span of five minutes before crashing the game in a log.)
