languid trout
#

Okay not related to your crash but you’re flat out missing assets from Ridgeside Village. You need to reinstall it

#

SDVpufferthinkblob this isn't a crash.

#

Hold on. Let me look deeper into it.

#

Even raw log says this didn't crash. So, what exactly happened, can you describe it?

torn rune
#

Also pretty much just was going about the day then as soon as I casted the Analyze spell, the game just froze

#

And I waited a solid 3 to 4 minutes and it never responded

supple moon
#

i actually do have content patcher! not there though (i added it to the mods file) i just completely forgot to extract it

#

lmaoo i got it fixed up now

#

im gonna maake sure i have evrything and try again

languid trout
torn rune
#

Yeah

#

It worked fine on a previous save

#

So I'm guessing one of the mods I added from that previous save caused the issue

languid trout
#

Or just ram allocation and load burden.

torn rune
#

Is there a way to increase ram allocation?

robust bison
#

for sdv in general or are you talking about spritemaster?

torn rune
#

Uh SDV in general, I guess? Since I don't use Spritemaster

languid trout
#

They already have Fastloads

robust bison

I don't think it has a cap?

Also I linked it earlier

although I don't know much about the technical stuff so I could be very wrong

A way to increase allocation, I mean

#

alright i think i got it!

#

@torn rune

supple moon
#

thank you everybody for your support!

torn rune
#

Alright well I tried it again and it went by just fine that time

#

I'll follow the troubleshooting nonetheless and update if it happens again or not

#

Excuse me, what version of this mod works for Android?

languid trout
#

It says 1.11.2

#

Under working version

#

The issue is Android seldom works.

elder zephyr
#

but it doesn't work, I already have it installed but it doesn't work

languid trout

It's run by the community, and requires people to update it and report whether it works or not. So try to find a version that does work and submit it.

Unless you don't have. .39, in which case nothing works.

#

Hello! I can't seem to get seasonal cute characters for sve or immersive farm 2 working. is there a way to fix this?

languid trout
#

You require SVE.

#

That's the fix.

#

@gaunt kernel
Immersive Farm 2 requires SVE as a dependency because it utilizes assets from SVE.
Same with Seasonal SVE portraits and seasonal cute characters. You chose mods that require SVE. Which won't work if you don’t have SVEE
So, either download the non sve version of those character portraits mods and a different farm, or download stardew valley expanded

i play on steam, but its ran through SMAPI. // should i just have two saves then? like only play save01 on one device and then start a new save (save02) to play that save only on the other device that has more mods installed? or do u recommend i just create a new steam account for the other device? 🤔

dusty spruce
#

You should either use different saves, or make sure you have the same set of mods on each machine

sharp robin
#

ah okay, ill just make a new save for the alternate device then. thank you. i appreciate your help!

I’m gonna move my mod questions to here but basically stardew valley expanded was working,I wanted to add more mods like it and now it won’t let me load my save file. Online said all the mods should be compatible?

My computer usually handles mods pretty well too I had a TON in the sims and it ran fine

Anyone who has used Margo, just got it and replaced the updated old prestige mod, is there a way to edit my Stardew save and reset the Skill ranks/prestiges in margo? The old Prestige mod I was using broke bad and so I got rid of it but when I replaced it with Margo my skills are multi-prestiged already.

Is there a way to wipe the slate clean, per say, without starting a new save? Just reset all my skills back to 0 and wipe out the Margo prestige ranks already there?

pallid summit
#

i don't know the answer, but i would be very surprised if margo did not include a SMAPI console command to do this. i would check margo's README for something like that

hushed wagon
#

Alright. Yeah, I was using a community edited version of the old prestige mod (Apparently the original author is the same person who made Margo? At least that's what I read?) and it went crazy around the 4th prestige of my skills and xp went nuts. Go figure when I removed the old prestige addons updated by the community and installed the Margo mod it looks to have skills prestiged multiple times already in margo XD

Blargh! Thanks for the help haha.

EDIT: Used a save game editor and reset all the experience and professions, fixed this. Somehow that values for a lot of my skills became negative in massive numbers! (Talking negative ten million in mining and such). Learned my lesson with this one XD

SMAPI 3.18.0 raised deprecation levels to the final stage, meaning SMAPI will now show yellow warning dialogues for mods with deprecated code. For the user, this means that the mod will break in the upcoming SMAPI 4.0 if it is not updated. If you are concerned about losing certain mods, it is recommended to create a backup of Stardew Valley 1.5.6 now (see !backup), but at present most modders are updating their code so that their mods can be released when 1.6 releases. Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.

Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Making mods can be broadly divided into two categories: C# mods and content packs (formatted text files that rely on a framework C# mod). Content packs can make new NPCs, edit maps, add new items, add shops, and more, while C# mods can change fundamental game mechanics. Usually it’s easiest to start with making content packs, since you don't need to learn how to program in C#.

To get started with content pack modding, you’ll probably want to check the list of frameworks here: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Content_pack_frameworks and then either use the wiki tutorial on Content Patcher here https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Content_Patcher or check out the tutorial wiki in case there’s a tutorial https://stardewmodding.wiki.gg/wiki/Category:Tutorials

To get started with C# modding, see here: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Modder_Guide/Get_Started

The comman tells you everything Keewe7. And it will not even load

You don't put anything in with content patcher

It does that for you if you download and extract the mod

You just extract a content patcher mod like a normal mod, and you don't pack it into the game.

But if you're on the beta, under no circumstances should you post a log anywhere outside the beta

There's only four builds of the game - normal, compatibility, alpha, and beta

At the top of your SMAPI log, it should say something like this:

#

No????

scarlet quail
#

I think you mean "Yes", Chirps

#

They're talking changing hairstyle as in a new one

sonic musk
#

just replacing the default hairstyle with new hairstyle

scarlet quail
#

If they were talking "just change hairstyle to other hairstyle in game", that's what the shrine of illusions is for

#

But yes, you have to make a new mod to do so. XNB mods, esp. on hairstyles, is far more likely to explode things

#

Content Patcher or Fashion Sense pack, but a mod nonetheless

sonic musk
#

is their a simple way to do it.

scarlet quail
#

I mean realistically if you don't plan on releasing it just swipe a hair mod, replace their image(s) with yours on hairstyle XYZ, and pick that hairstyle

sonic musk
#

that is what i was trying to do

#

i also cant find a hair mod that i can replace with

tired brook
#

You can create a Content Patcher pack instead of manually replacing XNB files. Once you set up the basic mod files, it's just a few lines to do the swap:

{
    "Action": "EditImage",
    "Target": "Characters/Farmers/hairstyles",
    "FromImage": "assets/new-hairstyles.png"
}

For better compatibility, you can also only replace the specific sprites instead of the whole image. But we can help with that in #making-mods-general if you're interested.

here's the log

#

for some if i edit my tractors speed at all i just get negative speed

kind of?

#

if i edit the speed i get it's speed???

#

ok it's previous speed stat was -2 or something, if i edit it i get -2 speed

#

i set it to +10 speed and then set it back to 0 speed

#

which then gave me +10 speed?

#

im just

tired brook
#

That's due to a game bug with how it recalculates player attributes. It can happen with vanilla buffs too, but it's more noticeable with the tractor since it's a bigger effect. There's a full fix for it in the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.6 already. In the meantime, make sure you don't change the tractor speed while on the tractor to avoid that.

prime stirrup
#

now if i edit the speed of the tractor at all it doesnt matter, im just zooming around

prime stirrup
#

so just dont change it's speed at all and it wont break?

tired brook
#

You can dismount the tractor before editing the Generic Mod Config Menu settings, and it should be fine. The speed will also return to normal when you save & reload.

scarlet quail
#

Wait, THAT's why that CJB bug happens??

prime stirrup
#

ok, and i assume you can only get rid of it by resetting?

tired brook
#

Yep, it's an issue with all buffs (from both mods and vanilla).

prime stirrup
scarlet quail
#

.... oh man, my one friend who kept using CJB and getting karma'd for it will be thrilled to hear that

prime stirrup
#

yet im still just zooming around with +10 speed

scarlet quail
#

I am amused as hell that that was a bug and that it's getting fixed in 1.6 though

languid trout
#

(The tractor mod actually taught me there was something weird with buffs before I ever even started learning how modding works because I made this same mistake 😆)

tired brook
#

In 1.5.6, buffs work by directly changing the player data (e.g. doing player.speed += 5). Then when the buff expires, it manually undoes the change (e.g. player.speed -= 5). But there's many cases where it loses track of the values, which can lead to things like buffs getting applied/unapplied multiple times, the buff being removed when it was already removed, buffs unapplying a different value than they applied, etc.

prime stirrup
#

eh, better than replanting 800 pumpkins by hand

tired brook
#

(In 1.6, the buff system was completely rewritten. Players now have base attributes that don't change, then it calculates the sum of the buff effects on top of that. When a buff is removed, it just recalculates the sum.)

oh yea the earlier celler issue is gone now so yay

native dragonBOT
#

SMAPI 3.18.0 raised deprecation levels to the final stage, meaning SMAPI will now show yellow warning dialogues for mods with deprecated code. For the user, this means that the mod will break in the upcoming SMAPI 4.0 if it is not updated. If you are concerned about losing certain mods, it is recommended to create a backup of Stardew Valley 1.5.6 now (see !backup), but at present most modders are updating their code so that their mods can be released when 1.6 releases. Most major mods are not expected to be broken for a long period of time after 1.6 releases.

sonic frigate
#

I would only do !backup if I want to keep 1.5.6 with that mod, correct?
I plan to just update to 1.6 and move forward, with or without the mods, so I don't need to do anything, correct? I'd just lose out on the mod later?

In general, you can figure out whether a mod is (most likely) to work with the current version of Stardew Valley based on its update date. This is not a guarantee things will work or not work, but is accurate for most mods.

  • 2016: Do not install (meant for incredibly early versions of Stardew)
  • 2017: Do not install (meant for pre-multiplayer Stardew)
  • 2018: Unlikely to work. If a Content Patcher mod, it might work, but in general it is not likely the mod will work.
  • 2019: Content Patcher mods can be tried from here fairly easily. C# mods should still be mostly avoided.
  • 2020: Content Patcher mods should work, but may be buggy. C# mods may work, but due to the 1.5 update there may be conflicts.
  • 2021+: Should be usable.
languid trout
#

Thankfully you didn't actually try to install them, but you downloaded two xnbs

#

And your Blacksmith is borked because you have two mods trying to load in an asset for it

#

Two content packs want to load the 'Maps/Blacksmith' asset (Bye Bye Clint, Hello Clarice and Stardew Valley Expanded). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility

#

As for not working, that's normal if the screen whites out-it's loading.

supple moon
languid trout
#

The slow loading is especially true with multiple add ons and if you click the screen while it says not responding.

supple moon
#

i closed my screen which reset my progress cus i was too impatient but im definitely not doing that next time

languid trout
#

It's normal to take up to ten or twenty minutes based on your specs, and if you click it resets the loading.

#

!sm

native dragonBOT
languid trout
#

Use this or Fastloads to help with loading times. (Don't use both)

#

Also, any mod that tries to entirely replace a vanilla npc will probably not work with Stardew Valley Expanded.

So, my solution to help with your lag?
Delete Downtown Zuzu and wait until it gets a content update in 1.6 as it is bare bones as is and will be optimized to not cost as many resources (rn it is a resource sink that doesn't have much to offer. This will change as the author has been working on it for three years and plans on releasing the big overhaul and update post 1.6)

Delete Bye Clint, Hello Clarice because it prevented the Blacksmith from loading in,
Delete those two loose xnbs and do not try to pack them into the root folder's contents, and download either Fastloads or Spritemaster

#

@supple moon

#

When you delete Zuzu and open up the game, it will say "Error handler removed content from the game to prevent a crash" in the corner of your screen when you load into the farm. This means it was successful.

#

(Normally I don't tell people to delete harmless expansions, but rn it offers little for the load time and removing it alongside installing a load optimizer should expedite the process and make it less likely for you to close the game)

Modding on the Nintendo Switch is technically possible in a very limited capacity, but it requires jailbreaking your Switch, which is only possible on select models or by physically altering the hardware of your Switch, and can run the risk of bricking your console and/or being banned by Nintendo. Only visual texture and dialogue replacer XNB mods can be installed. languid trout
#

Alright, so for starters you need to have everyone remove FeTk, get rid of mods that use it and have them instead install Mail Framework mod and find replacements for it.

And if that doesn't fix the issue, we'll need the logs of everyone playing multiplayer.

Maybe instead of listing FeTK as broken, the wiki should just have "use MFM instead" so that it shows up

Hello this is similar error I encountered in the mod due to a discrepancy in the official modding tutorial wiki regarding music track implementation. If it's the same issue, that would occur around 4pm In the cavern or during a screen fade, it was fixed in version 5.4.2. Looks like the version you're using might be problematic.

where to have the installer put SMAPI

i put it in C/programs but it didnt work

everything seemed to work except where i directed the SMAPI file to be

languid trout

No one is upset with you, alright?
I understand you have a learning disability.

So, instead of typing, can you screenshot what the smapi terminal says?
And do you know where your stardew valley game folder is?

feral timber

ill need some time to start over what ive done since ive uninstalled SMAPI completely (and that seemed to work fine w a tutorial idk)

#

yes ive found the folder recently

of stardew valley

#

maybe i just didnt put it in the Stardew Valley folder right?

#

i just put it in C/programs loosely like that

scarlet quail

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by that

Because SMAPI doesn't need to be put anywhere in particular

#

You just run the installer

....hold up, are you attempting to manually install SMAPI?

feral timber
#

I didnt put the SMAPI folder in the stardew valley folder

scarlet quail

right, you don't need to

feral timber

what no i followed the instructions to put it automatically idk

im confused lol

scarlet quail

Okay, so if you had it installed automatically, what did it say at the end of the installer

you ran the file "install on windows", yes?

#

Or if you're not on windows, whatever OS you are on

feral timber

he said this was the instructions to put it automatically

That's what I want to know. What did it say?

I don't know who this he is. Yes or no - did you run the file called "install on windows"?

feral timber

should have been right inside the unzipped SMAPI

feral timber

of course it works up till now, this is exactly what i did last time lol XD

now what

scarlet quail
#

Right, but just launching Stardew right now won't launch modded

#

That's why you need the launch options

languid trout

Okay, so, I presume this is what you had issues with.

feral timber

launch otion? dont i have to copy paste something in here?

languid trout

Higjlight the text that Salmence did, then click control + c together simultaneously

#

No

feral timber

huh

languid trout

You copy paste that into steam launch options, which is shown on the video.

feral timber

now im confused

languid trout

You don't copy paste anything into the smapi installer, you copy paste what it tells you to copy and paste

feral timber
#

oh right ok

feral timber
#

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% this, i pressed control c, then i paste it in steam?? this is exactly what i asked and you said "no"

scarlet quail
#

we definitely didn't say that

feral timber
#

this is exactly what i did last time so where did i go wrong?

languid trout
#

You phrased it like you were trying to copy paste into the console

#

We said copy paste that into Steam

scarlet quail
#

that's exactly what Chirps is saying

#

we're asking you to right click stardew in steam, click "properties", and then paste it into the steam launch options

#

it'll be at the bottom of the properties window that comes up

modern python
#

this isnt directed at anyone in particular but this is a reminder for everyone to be kind and patient with each other SDVpufferheart

feral timber
#

thats what i keep saying, is i did exactly that last time. thats not what i did wrong last time. since its exactly what i did

scarlet quail

Okay. We understand you did exactly that last time. Regardless. We have to continue with the steps

feral timber
modern python
#

its ok, youre not in trouble and im not taking it personally

feral timber

so steam/stardew valley/properties/ in that little space at the botom

scarlet quail
#

paste the thing into the launch options at the bottom, yes

#

and for the record

#

please copy and paste what you're pasting in there in here too

#

because I want to verify you're pasting in the right thing

languid trout
feral timber
#

ok just copy pasted in "launch options" in steam

scarlet quail
#

please copy paste what you pasted in those launch options in here as well

feral timber
#

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%

scarlet quail

native dragonBOT
#
