switch the schema to "none" instead of "manifest" and you will see "no errors"
(the errors you see there are schema errors, which means it is expecting a certain layout of properties, etc.)

I mean, I'm using SDV 1.5.6 and versions of mods that should be compatible with this version, but that doesn't really matter, I guess. Anyway, some other mods must be causing all these bugs and crashes, cuz after I deleted some mods from the folder, the problematic issues disappeared. (I have no idea which mods are causing this cuz I deleted several of them from the folder at once).
I have more than 100 mods, so it would take years to find a problematic one

So what I'm looking at is how many mods edit any of the Maps assets. WBPT, Medieval Bldgs and Medieval SVE are deisgned to work together, so I doubt they are causing the issue, which leaves Vibrant Pastoral Recolor as the only other mod that edits Maps/spring_town.
I would advise disabling it and seeing if that fixes the issue.
my friend is trying to play stardew valley expanded and shes downloaded all the needed files and is opening stardew on steam through smapi and its still not giving her any results, does anyone know why this could be happening?

ErrorLogs is the folder. What you need to upload is the file called SMAPI-latest or SMAPI-crash within it.

Yar, SMAPI says that you don't actually have any mods installed. Can you do what Chirps said and provide a screenshot of your Mods folder?
That the issue.
You also have several Stardew valley expanded folders you did extract
So, extract all of the folders out of their zips, and then delete any extras, and then run the game. (Smapi can't read compressed folders/zips.)
Also, can you provide a screenshot that also include the filepath, like so:
(Side note, this gets weirder the more I look at it with things like the New-Compressed folder that I have no clue what that is, and SVE extracts still retaining numbers.)

Your game location should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley. There should already be a folder called Mods there. Move all of your mods into that folder.

I think what could be causing the glitches is that both Way Back Pelican Town and Medieval Buildings SVE are patching the same assets. Why it's glitching is beyond me, though, since they are supposed to be able to work together.
Does the SMAPI tell you that there are duplicated files?
Yeah.. I deleted one of them (Medieval SV Expanded), and there are no longer any issues. It's weird cuz all of those mods are made by one person, so they are supposed to work together. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem, or if my game is cursed.
That's really hard to say, but also, keep in mind that Way Back Pelican Town and Medieval SVE/Medieval Buildings haven't been updated in a long time, whereas SVE, Content Patcher, and SMAPI have all seen significant changes. Any one of those could be the thing that split the compatability seam between them.

After you do this, you might have two files in your Mods folder with the same name - a folder and a zip file. You can delete the zip files.

I very strongly recommend adding the Mods folder to your Favorites.
In the future - extract your zip files in your downloads folder, then move the decompressed file to your Mods folder. That will save you a bit of a headache.
how do i safely remove SVE without corrupting my savefile? I am not going over to vanilla, but i would like to remove this mod specifically because it slows my game down a lot
You can with several caveats. Some mods will break your save if you remove them. Others won't. Best to follow this:

Mods that only change aesthetics do not need special preparation, but when removing large expansions, like Stardew Valley Expanded, or mods that add new items, you should to do a few things:
- Remove all modded fish from fishponds
- Remove items from the mod from chests and inventory
- Cut down trees/crops from the mod
- Make sure no important items are in mod-added locations
- Divorce any spouses from the mod (you can do this via console command)
When you remove the mods, make sure to keep Json Assets installed, and check that you have Error Handler installed. If you are removing all mods, play a day and save before playing unmodded.

The error is:

The entirety of Earthy Recolour doesn't load in-game.

Hello, we tried to moded our farm with friend, soo we dowload maybe a lot of mods in one, idk ... and it took us to load game around 8min, sometimes its even dropped... in smapi is everything oky, like no bugs or problems...I tried to fix it, and problem is in mod custom companion (but this one needs more moods) soo my question is ... its bcs we have a lot of mods in one or just some of them cant work together normally ? thank u
That length of loading time is normal for the amount of expansion mods you have.
To mitigate it, try installing "SpriteMaster" of "FastLoads" (but not both at the same time).

It seems that you have another recolor mod that overlays on top of foliage redone. Can you provide your log?

You probably just need to add dependency to the foliage mod, so it overwrites the recolors instead.

It's alright. It's pretty simple. And once you know how, you can do it again when something like this happen.
Go to Simple Foliage's mod folder, and open manifest.json

You see a list of Dependencies at the bottom? That's basically "this is all the mods this mod will overwrite."
All you need to do is add another entry for Vibrant Pastoral / Rosier Colored Glasses.
Their UniqueID will be in their own respective manifest.json

Hi! I need some help with running mods in stardew. I'm not running much, just some time manipulation mods for multiplayer. Problem is, it's been a while since I last played, and while the time manipulation mod is still working, I can't access the generic mod config menu. I was hoping someone here could tell me what I need to do

timespeed itself works, I tried it, and the shortcuts work ingame. it's the mod loader that I want to get working

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods is where your mods should be
you have put them in a folder titled _mods

Log is necessary here. It's likely edits to Wizard's house are conflicting and breaking things or something similar.

Hi, I'm having issues with downloading SMAPI? Every time I try to deploy it, I get told that some 65 files won't deploy and that they're locked by external factors?? I've tried deleting and reinstalling multiple times at this point, I don't know what's going on.

Using Vortex Mod Manager with Stardew Valley has the risk of your mods not getting installed properly, and other issues. Consider doing manual mod installation or using Stardrop, a mod manager that was purpose built for SDV, instead!
Even if you ignore that command, do note you can't install SMAPI via Vortex
it's a mod loader, not a mod itself
.... so just for the record, your game may not be crashing, but your log is running into a crapton of errors
The likely cause is 13:08:08 ERROR Content Patcher Two content packs want to load the 'Maps/WizardHouse' asset (Prettier Interior and Stardew Valley Expanded). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility.

essentially i just updated a few mods and removed one unrelated to items, but now when i load up saves i get blank boxes instead of the sprites for items in hotbars and inventories
same situation with new saves as well just booted up, tools seem unaffected but items like parsnip seeds are blank

Hm. Okay. Two further quick checks
First, can you temp disable Industrialization for SDV and try and see if it works upon reload
Second, if that does not work, remove all mods but Error Handler and tell me if the error still persists.
(If the answer to the second is "no", then it's mod hunting time. If it's yes... then those resources likely are not actually vanilla resources and got bugged into error items)

- Artisan Valley Machine Goods 3.0.21 because it requires mods which aren't installed (DIGUS.ProducerFrameworkMod, paradigmnomad.morefood, ppja.moretrees). theres 3 mods here found the first *producer framework , found the last one *PPJA moretrees, cant find the second one any one know?

If I'm thinking of the right problem, all you need to do when this happens is /pause and then /resume. The bus typically does this weird sped up animation first, but that should fix it

Using Vortex Mod Manager with Stardew Valley has the risk of your mods not getting installed properly, and other issues. Consider doing manual mod installation or using Stardrop, a mod manager that was purpose built for SDV, instead!

Did you read the mod page though? Make Gil real has several caveats on incompatibilities like SVE
definitely did, no incompatibility and no errors in my smapi log but i can grab it, the only errors in it are ones i did by mixing map mods nothing portraits

Hi all - I’m still a bit green when it comes to modding. I’m trying to install stardrop mod manager on my steam deck.
I’m trying to follow these instructions -
So I’ve extracted stardrop to my mods folder. But when I try and execute it (it gives me three options when I double click, and I select ‘execute’) nothing happens.
Any idea what is happening or where I’m going wrong?

same process you used to install them via stardrop - download the update and install it via stardrop, it'll automatically delete your old installation and install the new update in its place. for mods installed separately, I'm not very sure, so I'd just suggest updating those manually.

Hello, I'm new to the server and I was hoping to seek help from anyone who be willing to guide me though mod management.
I've been trying to run some mods, but Smapi isn't loading them up due to the files not having manifest.json files. Which doesn't seem right because I load these mods up before and didn't have that issue. I did take those mods and put them into folders because I wanted my mods folder to be more organized and that I think that is where the issues arised. I'll send some pictures

easy_cheat sounds like it isn't meant to be used with smapi - I suggest getting rid of it and installing cjb cheats menu instead
I'm not sure why it was there either. I didn't want to chance deleting it incase it messed a mod up. And the Easy_cheat is the name of the folder where I put all the mods I downloaded that would help make my game play better/easy
Like, I pretty much just right click, created a folder, named it and put all the mods that correspond with its title in that folder.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

you're limited only by what your computer can handle, and your patience
it's normal for large loadouts to take multiple minutes to load
People can have two thousand mods with ease
if you aren't using Spritemaster or Fast Loads, you could try one of those (but not both at once) to cut your loading times
People can also be restricted to 50 or something with lower specs. It depends on what mods you are installing as well

the other important thing is not to disturb the game while it's loading. if windows sends it into Not Responding then often it never recovers

SMAPI can't find an audio device so the game has no sound. Vanilla game works fine, I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Stardew Valley and SMAPI. I have updated drivers, tried all of the different audio devices I have on hand (both wired and bluetooth) and installed OpenAL. This just randomly started happening today, I have had zero issues with SMAPI in the past.

yes, I have rebooted multiple times, audio works fine on everything else except SMAPI (without SMAPI installed the game works with audio)

- Launch the game with SMAPI.
- In the start menu, search
volume mixerand choose the "Sound mixer options" match. - Expand the "Stardew Valley XX - running SMAPI XX with XX mods" row.

If you have error handler you can remove mods whenever, you just can't load the game in flat vanilla

Do you want to play the vanilla game after having installed SMAPI? Keep in mind that you cannot play vanilla on a previously modded save. Please use separate saves for playing vanilla vs modded Stardew! That said, there are a few ways this can be achieved:

If playing the game through Steam or GOG on a Windows device, clear your launch options, then select play from your game client. See the !launchoptions command for more info.

Go into your game folder and launch StardewValley.exe. See the !findmodsfolder command for more info.

Change the name of your Mods folder to anything other than Mods. Then launch the game as you normally would, this will make SMAPI launch but without any mods being loaded by it.

Set up SMAPI as a custom game in Steam. See the !modgroups command for more info.
This command is technically incorrect with the first statement, but that’s just general advice about how mods can functionally change how the save works.
I will say, those are pretty old mods and removing Stardew Valley Expanded might be an issue if you have any of the items added by it in your inventory.

Okay thank you so much!!! I realize I might of misspoken. I started a separate save when I started playing with mods. I just want to open up my old vanilla save without mods. Aka remove all mods. And yeah they’re super old I haven’t touched the game on my Mac in ages
The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false

The SMAPI installer will tell you what to set as the launch options when it completes (green text). Make sure the box is empty
If the box still has the text in it, it will try to launch from smapi and fail

That's only for when you're setting up mod groups
Okay, so what I'm going to need you to do is untick run as administrator, make sure you haven't just set yourself up to do that reverify the file integrity (or just do a clean uninstall/reinstall, and try to turn it back on. If that doesn't work, reinstall Smapi, relaunch it using Smapi and get the log.
Because it should be launching to at least the title screen if you followed the instructions correctly

At first I downloaded the expanded mod, smapi, + all the other required mods and the game was running fine. then it started crashing with red text in the smapi log and the game wouldn't even open. Plug in headphones or speakers. Can even be Bluetooth.
If that doesn't work, restart you computer. The audio drivers don't have an output.

Yep. If the game doesn't detect an audio output device, it can't turn on.
You don't have to have the sound on, but having an output is basically required (I actually don't know why.)
I've seemed to have fixed it. Uninstalled both the SMAPI and Stardew and it's working

yep. It should work, but if not, there's other furniture mods out there that use DGA and the such that have been updated
In general, eye the mod page and last updated

In general, you can figure out whether a mod is (most likely) to work with the current version of Stardew Valley based on its update date. This is not a guarantee things will work or not work, but is accurate for most mods.
- 2016: Do not install (meant for incredibly early versions of Stardew)
- 2017: Do not install (meant for pre-multiplayer Stardew)
- 2018: Unlikely to work. If a Content Patcher mod, it might work, but in general it is not likely the mod will work.
- 2019: Content Patcher mods can be tried from here fairly easily. C# mods should still be mostly avoided.
- 2020: Content Patcher mods should work, but may be buggy. C# mods may work, but due to the 1.5 update there may be conflicts.
- 2021+: Should be usable.
Content patcher mods that just add furniture from 2018 should still be fine, either way. Be more careful, okay? That said, have fun! 
i went a little wild and got too excited hahah. been playing vanilla since 2020 and just got a PC 🙂

if you're on mac tho keep in mind verifying files erases SMAPI and you'll need to reinstall

you might have to wait and potentially remove certain mods if you want to play 1.6 modded
The only two mods I'm currently worried about is Artisan valley and SVE as they are my main ones. Artisan valley more as I haven't seen updates for it in awhile.

Hello, I've never had issues with modded stardew in the past, and this time I wanted to go all out so I have a bunch of mods (SVE, RSV, East Scarp, ZuZu, PPJA, Raffadax, etc) [63 mods] and as soon as the map itself has to load, the game freezes and doesn't respond. There's no crash log or anything that I can find either. Also as far as my PC specs are concerned, I don't think I'd have any issue loading these mods.

So off the top of my head everything you just listed adds to the load time
And it was still loading. I think it went non-responsive and you just assumed it stopped working. When it whites out, that's normal

The only legitimate issue in PPJA is the DGA conversion, which we have a command for. Most of the errors we see are user error (double downloading JA packs after installing the megapack) or the pack tossing out text saying it couldn't find a file that wasn't downloaded.
What I'm reading here is just a case of not leading the game load. Hold on

ok so i got the "Saving..." then "Your progress has been saved." and I see my cursor but it is now frozen again.
I figured Raffadax would be a lot. I'd never even heard of it until yesterday when someone mentioned it so I added it.
It's a staggering amount of items on top of npc schedule loading
So freezing is to be expected. Fast loads or SM will mitigate load times, but don't install both mods. Download one or the other.

The sampling can be turned off. Fast loads and sm both implement loading optimizations that will be present in the 1.6 update

You can absolutely customize it if you have GMCM, and also turn the resampling off.
The ram caching is under advanced settings in the menu for it, alongside different scans

Yes, the resampling is the graphical change you can turn on or off, or...just select what it targets too.
Resampling has nothing to do with optimization, that's just for aesthetics
SpriteMaster is like two mods in one
i.e. converting from pixels to smooth isn't making your game faster
if anything it's gonna take a toll on performance

hi cn someone help me with something, I'm trying to install a mod on mac and I've ran Smapi but the file folder it shows which i need to store the mods in doesn't exist what i do
if you installed SMAPI, it comes with mods. wherever those mods are is where you should install your other ones

That's not a segfault error, tbh. It's an issue with UIInfoSuite 2 not displaying something from Luck Skill properly.

because I've had this happen before and it crashed with the same error
it's also really random

I discovered that certain things (i.e. hardware) aren't actually SMAPI-related but MacOS specific, but they register as SMAPI related because SMAPI is the API

Gotcha, iirc Logo pointed out the first time that recursive logic can cause a very unhelpful segfault message w/ mods on Mac, so that could be it

hey my friend is trying to install on windows and he install smapi, then wrote the directory of it in steam to launch but when he launches the game, the cmd doesn't pop up to show anything

So I have this problem with npc location mod where it works for me and not my freind in multiplayer i reported this issue to modder so he said to send my log but I have no clue where to find this log i checked the stardew valley folder but there is no log file there only .DLL files and i18n folder

Open a file app (like My Files or MT Manager).
Find the StardewValley folder on your internal storage.
Open the ErrorLogs subfolder.
The log file is SMAPI-crash.txt if it exists, otherwise SMAPI-latest.txt.
