mods are usually pretty stable between each other, so there aren't really a lot of bridge mods. Except for Automate, in which case it's less about instability and more about automate not automating modded things without bridge mods.

I mean, MARGO handles 99% of it's own errors. But you shouldn't be surprised if your save gets fucked if you delete a mod mid-playthrough. That's modding 101. And there's nothing a mod can do to safeguard against it.
So I recently added two new mods to the list that I'm currently using, but for some reason SMAPI isn't launching those mods. I can't find them in the prompt of stardew valley launching anywhere. Anyone have any ideas on why?

Hmmm, don't know why closing vortex caused it to launch the games with the additional two mods, but they were dynamic reflections and wind effects. Don't know why that fixed it, but guess my problem is solved now!
for future reference, vortex is strongly recommended against for stardew modding. if you can, i'd try to move away from using it

try giving krobus a bouquet. i think that's what free love uses to change who your "official" spouse is

margo also has a tendency to interact in odd ways with other mods.
The sword revamps actually rename some of the default swords (like the dark blade), so if any other mod uses that sword it causes issues.
It's part and parcel of how complex and wonderful MARGO is that it touches so many things and causes so many interactions.

That's a fair complaint, but it's also quite intentional, as I don't want other mods to touch these items. If they did, there'd be all sorts of other issues that would be less obvious.
i'm not sure it's even a complaint - just a fact.
(but also, you can just go to the i18n file and change it back)
and when people try to use margo with a bunch of other things, sometimes weird bugs happen, and they're easier to identify if we know margo's involved, since margo acts differently than other mods. But again - it acts differently because it's so thorough and neat, so it's not a complaint, just a thing to note when troubleshooting with people that don't realize how it all ties together.

Yes. Remove your other mods and start with only the one you want to test. Then add the other back one by one.
Hi! Any chance I can get some help with the Ghost Town mod? The latest update broke the desaturation part (main) of the mod. The bodies with the TMX work fine, but no matter how I change the config the NPCs won’t be greyed out :/ any assistant appreciated as it completes my Halloween aesthetic.

The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false
I used Portraiture long time ago and it didn't result to any error. Even with it I have control to swap with some mod portrait and carefully modified to work with one by OhoDavi. It just happen yesterday and suddenly. So I don't know what conflict
There's no error. That's just what the mod does. It's a feature.
I don't see any error in your log originating from WTDR, instead the errors are with other custom assets.
In-fact, you don't have WTDR installed or active in your mods list.

My game just crashed and I can see that smapi is showing a huge wall of red text, but it's not letting me actually see the window to know what happened. I know if I close the game, smapi will close as well. Is there going to be a way for me to recover this info?

Sorry what’s WTDR? I was asking about Ghost Town…also thanks but I know the zoro one doesn’t work right it’s never interfered with anything before thankfully including the ghost town. I might try deleting pytk but am worried it will break my mods I’ve worked so hard on and that I’d have to manually edit a bunch of manifests to put that false statement in…I have a fast load mod so I don’t really care about speeding up load times anymore (only takes a minute now) at the risk of manually editing things/breaks.

I had the luck skill mod installed but I believe it started to conflict with "actually lucky rabbit's foot" (in reality, that's just my best guess)
So I removed the mod.
But now every night my luck skill
Levels up to 6 and then to 7.
Then again to 6 and again to 7
And then any other scale I have a level up in will level up twice regardless
So say I level up in foraging
Foraging will say it reached level 6 and then it will say again that it reached level 6
I can't find any realistic way to set my luck skill back to level zero I even tried manually editing the save via text editor but that just made it fail the checksum.
I've tried SMAPI debug commands. I've tried everything nothing is working.
Here is my log. The only thing related to the luck skill in here is UI info suite 2 saying that it sees me get experience in luck and it fails to display it.
I'm really not sure what to do at this point.

To clarify, when I say I removed the mod, I removed the luck skill mod.
Unfortunately the luck skill is technically an unused skill in the base game.
I need to get this solved because otherwise it's going to force me to cheese level 10 skills with Margo
I'm going to try doing the reverse re adding the luck skill mod and removing the lucky rabbit's foot mod
I actually think that's probably MARGO doing the skillups
since it already deals with skills in a large way, just flat out removing Luck Skill probably made it store some data it's using to level you up
So if your strategy doesn't work, disable MARGO for a day and see what happens.

Ok so I tested it and it did stop luck from leveling up every night.
But every level I get Is still duplicated.
So as a quick test (thankfully my mods and save file are perfectly set up to test this stuff)
First night I get luck 6 luck 7 luck 6 luck 7.
The next night I get foraging 7 foraging 7
I'm going to try turning off Margo professions and sleeping one night then exiting the title re-enabling it and sleeping one more night

If your save file previously had any content adding mods on it, it cannot be loaded in vanilla

Never mind, it turns out the reason it's actually fixed along with a bunch of my other mods is because I had to reinstall stardew when I reinstalled my OS. I think I needed to do that thing. Where you fix all the vanilla game files.

Due to the low amount of them, I'm not super concerned especially since I believe the first two don't necessarily use those files. I could be wrong though.

Hello all! I would like to balance my combat based on @stray spire 's Modular Gameplay overhaul mod. Does anyone have adjusted weapon values for Ridgeside Village weapons to balance them based on MARGO?
(Doesn't MARGO already balance those?)
Also, aren't you the person sheku mentioned to modify the JA values? If so, wouldn't someone else's version of balanced potentially be too much?
On MARGO's page he recommends RSV except for the weapons because of their high values (in the context of pairing with his mods). Ideally, I'd get MARGO's values if they exist. If they don't, I would love someone who plays with MARGO's combat mod to share their custom weapon values since they would be more knowledgeable of that setup's balance than I am.

that was my thought - by the time you both find the source of the things, get the requisite friendship, and have enough of the right currency, it's... not like you're hurting the beginning of the game.
mind you, I definitely get that there's reasons to not (at least in theory) but there may be another work around as well.
Ideally, it would be MARGOs idea of balance, not mine since I have no experience with those weapons and his mods together. Him making note of the balance discrepancy is what got me searching for a solution. I am introducing these players to mods for the first time and I am trying to give them what I believe is the best experience. I'm already imposing my idea of balance and fun on them by virtue of picking the mods, so might as well try my best.
Eh, something I've learned is to try and let things just happen with regards to balance. My modded multiplayer file I play with friends we agreed with about 90% of the mods on the outset and added the remaining 10% later
In this case I'd go with just communicate to them that it's potentially a balance issue and ask if they give a damn
If they do, then easy way to rebalance (edit the JA values to nearly nothing so that the weapons are terrible - heck, you can use the forge to give the weaponry the visual appearance of one sword with another sword's stats)
If they don't? Just leave it in as is
I hear you. I guess I see making my mod lists for games as my pseudo-game development projects. Of course, it will never be perfect but knowing there's a known game balance issue on the offset makes me feel no good.
I don't want to ship it to prod if I know something ain't right. They can find stuff later, sure.

Hello. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix an issue I'm suddenly having with my farmhouse? I have a mod that allows a basement to be built from the get-go, meaning my starter farmhouse had stairs down to the cellar. This has been no issue during a many-hour playthrough (was currently Fall 16) with either upgrading or even adding a spouse room through marriage until today, when I updated several mods from the nexus page, including Farmhouse Fixes. Upon starting the game up, it was all just a black screen with my farmer there in the middle, so suspecting one of the updated mods, I quit the game, then restored to the previous version all mods I'd updated this morning (including Farmhouse Fixes) using Time Machine to get the earlier version. Upon starting the game up again, it was no longer a black screen, but suddenly I couldn't get down to my cellar... the farmer acted like NoClip was enabled (it wasn't at the time, I toggled it on and off to check) and just went through the "stairs" into blackness. I quit again, and figuring my save was somehow the issue, restored to a previous save from the day before, setting me back about a week in-game. However, the cellar seemed to be fixed... I could get down no problem, until I gave a mermaid pendant to someone, their spouse room was added to my farmhouse, and now the stairs down to the cellar are completely gone.
I can post my smapi log of course, but since I quit the messed-up game and restored, I don't know if it's going to show anything. But I've been starting and quitting and restarting for about an hour now, and am getting frustrated. I can't definitely blame the Farmhouse Fixes update on this, although I think it's a likely culprit, but even if it was, I've restored it to the previous version so it shouldn't be an issue. And since I restored my save to yesterday, when I wasn't having issues, I don't understand why the problems are persisting. Can anyone offer some advice?

Could someone lend me some assistance regarding my problems? I'm not exactly sure if any of these errors are game breaking, as far as I've noticed - the game runs just as fine. I think it might be the multiple spouse mod
- There's about a hundred of them. It's impossible to balance. Trust me, I tried.
- Balance is not just about stats. Margo weapons rely on special enchantments for balance and uniqueness. You cannot do that just by editing in CP.
- The game doesn't need more weapons. There's too many as is. This isn't Elden Ring; combat is way too simple, even with Margo.

heyy I have a problem with my mods. I play stardew with a friend and everything worked fine but since i downloaded a "Bigger farmhouse" mod with some extra mods my friend is stuck in the wall. I removed the mods again but nothing changes. I tried to remove the "mods" folder from the stardew valley folder and it worked but we both agreed that we want to play with mods and now i can´t find the mod which is causing this problem

Then SMAPI is not booting. if SMAPI is not booting, you cannot play your modded file in vanilla.
The only way to play in vanilla after previously having mods on a file is by using SMAPI with error handler. Otherwise, your save will not load in vanilla and have exactly the behavior you describe

Hello! Im having some big (I think it is) error while trying to play modded, my game doesn’t go further than the first cutscene of leaving the town, being forever stuck in a loading screen, I’ve tried to remove the larger mods and all but nothing changes!
It is my first time downloading mods by myself so I’m a bit lost. (I also am with no internet at the moment so I can’t google things or install more things atm)

Hi! Looking at this now, it seems the messages that you're seeing are not from Stardew Valley itself, but one of the external libraries that it uses (since the logs that you're seeing in this screenshot aren't showing up in your SMAPI log file). As long as you're not experiencing issues, it seems pretty safe to ignore these messages. Are you running any recording software? (OBS, or Discord screenshare?)

That could be it, I'm not entirely sure. The screenshot refers to "HookD3D9", where D3D9 is DirectX 3D 9 an older graphics API. "Hook" usually indicates that something is trying to get information from it; it could be medal trying to get the screen contents while you are playing. It's just a guess, but you should be able to play fine without any issues! Nothing to worry about
You can try disabling Medal and see if the messages go away, but it should be fine either way.

hey i launced stardew but it launched with the unmodded icon for some reason and i dont think it worked what did i do wrong?

yes and still time it did work and it launced the moded icon but it only read 3 mods and not all of them even tho they all togther

So, how it's supposed to work is that once SMAPI is installed, all you do is launch the game from within Steam.
So something is misplaced or out of order somehow.
When you're in Steam, right click on the game, go to "Manage" and "Browse Local Files." Could you please send a ss of what File Manager shows?

Ok, so that error is just saying that you still have the Installer file in your mods folder, and you can delete that.
The yellow text is just a warning and nothing you need to worry about; it's normal for SpaceCore.

OK, perfect. The mods are where they should be and Steam is tracking the right location. It looks like, from your SMAPI ss, that the mods are loading in properly, so you should see the changes in game

Ok, good. So going forward, you should only need to worry about red text in SMAPI. If you do get errors, run them through the log parser and post it here; someone should be able to help.

it froze, the regular windows mouse cursor appeared on top, I could move it, then when after about an hour of doing other things I tried to click the mouse it loading circle'd then told me this

I married Sen (Lurking in the Dark, ES mod), then Krobus, then Sterling (Always Raining in the Valley, ES mod). When I just had Krobus and Sen, there was no issue with spouse rooms. When I married Sterling, Krobus' spouse room disappeared.
I tried to see if adding T's Spouse Room would fix the problem (why would it fix it? i have no clue what my thought process was), but now Sen and Krobus' rooms are gone.

I need help with some visual issues. My farmers eyes and skintone are completely off from what I set them as in the new game creator.

hello, reupdated my mods today as they needed updating..i haven't played in a while so i can't remember if this is supposed to happen, or will interfere with my game if not fixed..:

Tractor mod is there but you have to build the garage at Robin's
Automate works in the background by connecting chests to machines
I highly recommend that you get Generic Mod Config Menu (GMCM) - it will allow you to set mod configurations from inside the game
Ultimately, Chaerin - I suggest reading the mod descriptions on Nexus - they will tell you how the mods work and how to access them

theres no duplicates but in some folders theres three folders that are like (cp) (ckm) etc
you extracted it in the mod folder
smapi looks inside folders
example of 2 different locations
