ok so update its working. i think i understand what happened. im on winter 1 year 1 and you get access to secret notes that day. i think the game has to re-patch drops and a bunch of maps with new secret stuff and i got a big lag spike when entering the farm house because the world had unloaded so it could be patched

gaunt gust
#

Right

#

this is actually probably winter lag. Basically everyone and their mother wants ice and snow effects and their npcs to wear sweaters, which is surprisingly expensive. I would disable as much of that as possible

steel linden
#

If it ends up becoming an issue I'll be sure to do that but it doesn't seem to be a problem until I enter the farm house at night so I'm not to worried If it becomes an everyday thing then I will disable it but if not it's fine

Question if I disable listen for console input will it prevent the chat commands mod from working? It's a mod that lets me

Entoarox Modding Utilities (EMU) is breaking on me. I need it for extended minecart. I moved over to a different mod, but it works so differently, I don't like it. Does anyone have plans to fix that mod (technically both EMU and extended minecart)? It hasn't been updated in 2.5 yrs.

Also, the first time I used it, the main minecarts attached to my farm. Something broke since the latest SMAPI update (an error was thrown) and now it doesn't connect to the farm. Not sure what happened. Something to do with the serializer. Anyhow, I'd love it if someone updated this mod since it seems to have been abandoned.

1.6 also makes mine carts more accessible to CP so that’s even less motivation to fix an old mod

steel linden

So does anyone have a recommendation on how to stop long load times due to winter? This didn't happen in any other season it seems when it gets to the portraits It gets stuck.

But I've had seasonal outfits on the entire playthrough so I don't understand why it's making a difference now does ridgeside include an option for winter coats or something?

dusky finch
# lament prairie I don’t think anyone plans to update it. Because there’s other mods that do simi...

I don't ever see concerned ape adding a minecart to the farm because the bus stop is so close. But a lot of the cave mods have mine carts in them that are basically useless without a minecart mod.

Also, I have only found one mod, besides extended minecart, that adds extra carts to the game. Are there others that work that don't just add one minecart location?

I switched to integrated minecarts and it's honestly just not as good as extended minecarts was before the SMAPI update.

how does CP's dialogue key system work?
I have two mods editing the dialogue playing on winter 2, the 2nd one should be the one that i see in game, but no matter what i try, the 1st one is the one playing
what confuses me is that even if i completely delete the first dialogue and its key, the game still tries to load it, showing me "no translation (RomRasSVE.winter_2)"
Why is that?

I already tried to replace the character png from the mod with a new png but it doesnt work and somehow still shows the same portrait from the mod even though that png shouldnt exist in the file anymore, i even go as far as deleting the whole file for that character and still to no avail, am i missing something ?

hey guys, so i have a massively modded game right now that me and my partner are playing through multiplayer. I just added a few more mods this evening (Because i dont understand when to stop) and there are now very long load screens and my partner gets kicked when events start. During the load screens SMAPI does show that the inventory for the NPCs has been updated, then there is a long pause while it seems to be looking for assets that arent there. Im not sure if this is a result of there being something wrong with one of the mods that i have installed or if this just happens to be going on at the same time and the load times are now just due to the fact that there are a lot of mods. I will add that i have a powerful pc so it shouldnt be a hardware issue at all, if thats an element

lament prairie
#

Yeah, you can also just remove the mods you just added

Things will get better if you do that, but might still be a bit slow just because you have PyTK and a lot of mods

gaunt gust
#

1.6....may be better? hopefully

modern iron
lament prairie
#

Well the quartic pathing at least is better in 1.6

scarlet quail
#

The thing is if you don't update anything then you can't add new mods either

lament prairie
#

I mean you can but it will get messy

modern iron
lament prairie
#

I don't always update, but that carries the risk of things going wrong and bugs already fixed cropping up

scarlet quail
#

Their versioning is stuff like RSV 2.2.3, 1.14.17 (non-i18n) SVE, so the versioning indicates stuff like 6 mo-1 yr ago

modern iron
#

so is PyTK no something that other mods need right now?

scarlet quail
#

!pytk

native dragonBOT
#

The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.

If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false

lament prairie
#

So in general you should update when you can if you're having problems

modern iron
#

okay, so how about this as an idea now. If i update everything i can right now. Remove PyTK and then see where we go from there?

lament prairie
#

Yeah, that's a good cleaning-house first step

scarlet quail
#

(And add spritemaster, disable resampling if you don't want the graphical changes)

lament prairie
#

If you still want the extra expansions, also add SM

modern iron
#

sweet, baby steps for me! Spritemaster, got it!

scarlet quail
#

(resampling is a spritemaster config option)

modern iron
#

will that make a drastic change if i enable or disable it?

gaunt gust
#

for performance? shrug, probably not

#

there's a very obvious visual different

#

some people like it, some people can't stand it

modern iron
lament prairie
#

Spritemaster is a mod that does two things: resampling, and performance improvements

#

You can get performance improvements without resampling if you want, by configuring it

#

Or you can have both

scarlet quail
#

It will be visually noticeable

#

Because people have wildly different opinions, it's best for you to know about the config so that if you fall into the "hate it" side, you can disable it and return your normal graphics

cyan solstice
modern iron
#

awesome, ill mess with some stuff and be back with an update. may be tomorrow depending on how long it takes 😄

#

If it doesn't show up after running SMAPI, then please give a log and give the screenshot you just gave again but with the filepath visible

lament prairie

wide fox
lament prairie
#

Ok, you might need to read up on Linux and how it works

#

The command line is a way to interact with the computer at a low level

wide fox
#

so the terminal

lament prairie
#

In Linux, it's very important to be able to use it

#

Yes

wide fox
#

its a terminal

lament prairie
#

Have you ever launched an application from the terminal?

wide fox
#

what code would i use

#

like what should i input into terminal rather

lament prairie
#

3. Check if there's an error message:

#

But just as a warning, if you aren't comfortable in the terminal on Linux, life is going to be difficult

#

Here's a basic intro guide

modern iron
#

Quick question. Is there a difference between CP and AT? If im not mistaken, content patcher changes the texture of whats there already. Does AT (Not sure what AT stands for sorry) add a new item entirely, or does it just change the texture for the item still just no using CP?

scarlet quail
#

AT's more... modular, I guess it'd be called

lament prairie
#

AT changes textures optionally

modern python
#

theres definitely a difference

lament prairie
#

CP will change the texture of every copy of an item

#

AT can have various textures for different copies of the item

modern python
#

AT does not create new furniture items

wide fox
lament prairie
# wide fox

So this is why I recommended Linux basics. You're not in the right directory.

modern iron
#

thank you for answering all the questions, you guys are amazing 😄

wide fox
#

I cant use linux base

scarlet quail
#

Think of it this way. You have two silos. With content patcher, both silos are automatically retextured. With Alternative Textures, you can have one texture for silo 1 and other texture for silo 2

insert mode

When asking for help with modding issues, please:

  • Ask in #archived-modded-support
  • Try to explain what the issue or problem is. Please be specific!
  • If it's SMAPI installation related, please state whether you're using Windows/Mac/Linux and Steam/GOG/Gamepass.
  • Provide a log if you have one (see https://smapi.io/log for instructions). Please provide a log even if there's no errors or warnings! If you are playing multiplayer, we will need a log from every player.

It is most likely that because it requires that framebuffer object thing you'll have to use legacy mode

pallid summit

time out though. doesn't the vanilla game run?

wide fox

it runs if i launch it through steam

#

it runs if I do this (crostini discord had me do some stuff) cause apparently original stardew valley and stardew valley files were exactly the same so they made me take the Stardew Modding API and rename it to StardewValley and got rid of the original StardewValley

pallid summit

oh interesting. that's the same renaming dance to run the xbox gamepass version

i renamed it back tho to the stardewmodding api

cinder tide

For reference: my friend is using a pretty old graphics card: Mx 150

maybe a bad SMAPI install? libhostfxr.so should be right in Stardew Valley/ next to the exe

go back to the other terminal tab (the one that's in the stardew valley directory)

ok i would try rerunning the SMAPI installer first. it should be safe to do

this is what the crostini crew had me do last itme

#

I'm guessing you didn't extract the mod

azure bloom
#

I extracted them all into a folder I made for my mods but I'm not sure what went wrong

scarlet quail
#

that's your problem

#

specifically, the folder I made portion

#

you should NEVER be making the mods folder. SMAPI does that on install, and that's where the mods are loaded from.

#

if you make a mods folder, it won't work.

azure bloom
#

This may be the folder SMAPI made. I just renamed it so it'd be easier for me to find it but all of my mods are there including SVE which worked last time I modded the game. This playthrough I wanted to try and do the base game but now I'm wanting to mod it again.

modern python
#

it wont load if its not called Mods exactly

scarlet quail
#

well, tbh, then I'm going to be blunt with you

#

Delete that folder, then reinstall SMAPI

#

then reinstall mods in the folder it makes.

worn marsh
#

lyoko im not sure why you're suggesting that

#

just rename it to Mods first and see if that works

scarlet quail
#

Easy, 6480

#

If they have the wrong folder, it's far simpler to just wipe the wrong folder out and redo it

#

in the event they have the right folder, yes, it's possible they somehow miscapitalized it.

azure bloom
#

It's the only folder I have

scarlet quail
#

But if not, it's easy enough to remove the mod folder they have, reinstall SMAPI so that it generates the mod folder correctly, and then have them load it in

#

This removes the possibility for them to put it in the wrong place.

#

Feel free to try the capitalization 6480 mentioned and if it works, SDVpufferparty . But if that doesn't work, you're going to have to find the actual mod folder, which you'll do by deleting your current one, then reinstalling SMAPI so that it puts in the right one.

azure bloom
#

Fixed it. There was a mod folder within a mod folder.

#

Now it's adding the mods to the game

scarlet quail
#

(Sometimes, it's simplest to assume people are in the wrong folder, so that extraneous steps are unnecessary. Just because otherwise you'll take 20 extra steps SweatSmileIan )

worn marsh
#

you sure taught me 😅

#

#

im determined ive been at this since 8 in the morning PST

lethal mantle
#

it prob took me longer so ur good lol

sonic radish
#

oh my goodness TT that has got to be frustrating

wide fox
#

ok stardew is reinstalled

#

where do i start

lethal mantle
#

i think open it normally at first

#

like just to be safe

wide fox
#

aight

lethal mantle
#

if that doesnt open thats another problem

wide fox
#

ye

lethal mantle
#

🤞

wide fox
#

my chromebooks being really slow

#

i restarted it

lethal mantle
#

okay

#

if your chromebook struggles with like reg stardew im kinda nervous about how smapi would run

#

cuz more mods=more lag

wide fox
#

it usually doesnt

sonic radish
#

I am very hesitant about a chromebook running stardew esp w/ mods

lethal mantle
#

if u have a newer chromebook

#

like my old one

#

works fine

#

def no huge mods like sve

#

but ya it worked!

sonic radish
#

alright thats excellent then. I really hope it can work!

#

(honestly, if mobile is okay FutureQueen, I'll buy it for you. or send the money or whatever.)

wide fox
#

im just going for reskins of stuff thats about it

lethal mantle
#

oh also u basically need spritemaster too (thats the mod that optimizes stardew)

#

!sm

native dragonBOT
sonic radish
#

ohh yeah reskins should be fine 80% is fine

lethal mantle
#

i could do rsv and east scarp but sve would be too much and make my cb rlly hot

wide fox
#

ok so i was thinking of switching to linux fully and installed some stuff that def is slowing down my chromebook so im curently uninstalling them

sonic radish
#

nods nods nods

wide fox
#

imma be here awhile it seems

sonic radish
#

I will be awake like another hour and half. I can try with what I know, but honestly Ben seems like a much better person for this

wide fox
#

ik im sorry for having u guys wait so long

#

its prob gonna be 45 minutes

sonic radish
#

I don't care, I am happy getting it to work (Cause I know how much fun stardew is and I really want you to have an elevated experience <3)

#

I found an article about modding stardew on chromebooks, I can send it to you (it seems links aren't allowed based on the rules, from what I can tell)

robust bison
sonic radish
#

I saw the embedded rule and thought that was links (tbh I do not know the difference </3)

#

but thank you very much for the clarification! <3

wide fox
#

how do i uninstall something through terminal

sonic radish
#

what are you trying to uninstall?

wide fox
#

abunch of linux apps

sonic radish
#

how were they installed>

#

sudo apt-get ?

wide fox
#

ye

#

i think so atleast

sonic radish
#

sudo apt-get remove $package-name

wide fox
#

it doesnt seem to be working

native dragonBOT
#

@wide fox You leveled up to Cowpoke. You can now speak in our voice channels and share images in all channels!

wide fox
#

also @lethal mantle it launches more smoothly now i just have to get rid of the other junk

lethal mantle
#

oh good!

#

ping me if u need more stardew stuff cuz my linux is not the best

wide fox
wide fox
#

im prob dumb and inputting something wrong

sonic radish
#

you can try these: If you installed with sudo apt-get install $package-name, you would remove it with sudo apt-get remove $package-name.
If you installed with sudo flatpak install $package-name, you would uninstall it with sudo flatpak uninstall $package-name.
If you installed with sudo snap install $package-name, you would remove it with sudo snap remove $package-name.
If you installed from an archive, you'll really need to consult the documentation that came with the archive to figure out the correct approach.

#

(this is from an article)

wide fox
#

@lethal mantle Lets just start with SMAPI

lethal mantle
#

k

#

oh did u install steam through flatpak? cuz that has different steps

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

ok so im guessing no then lol

#

okay so try to run the smapi installer now

wide fox
#

this is what happens when i double click on the linux is sh

lethal mantle
wide fox
#

ye

lethal mantle
#

open it through terminal i just wanna see if its diff

#

so like the ./install on linux

wide fox
#

oh wait i need to cd

lethal mantle
#

ya\

#

oh and u can just right click the folder and click open in terminall that might be easier than cd

wide fox
#

im taking my adhd meds so i can properly focus

lethal mantle
#

oh ok

#

that is weird

#

iirc u need to chmod +x internal/lnux/SMAPI.Installer too

wide fox
#

i think i already know away to install it

lethal mantle
#

oh okay

wide fox
#

nvm

#

@lethal mantle help

#

im dumb

lethal mantle
#

kay so

#

just chmod +x the SMAPI.Installer file in internal/linux

#

then retry that command

wide fox
#

which is the proper file i need to chmod

lethal mantle
#

SMAPI.Installer

#

in internal/linux

wanton trench
#

I think you would need to change what program .sh files open with by default if you want to just double click on it

#

I've run into that before

lethal mantle
#

on crostini?

wanton trench
#

idk what a crostini is, but ive seen it on other distros

lethal mantle
#

because corstini has like a lot of weird quirks and isnt like other distros

#

cuzi ts like the linux vm inside chrome os

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

oh sorry i wasnt clear enough

#

the internal/linux directory is deeper inside the smapi installer folder

#

does that make sense?

wide fox
wanton trench
#

can you do ls -lh right there?

wide fox
#

ok i did

#

what does that do exactly tho

lethal mantle
# wide fox

ur in the right directory now, so just do chmod +x SMAPI.Installer then try to run the sh again

wanton trench
#

It should show if SMAPI.Installer is executable or not

wide fox
wanton trench
#

Is it capital I in installer?

#

oh you got it

lethal mantle
#

okay good!

wide fox
#

what now

lethal mantle
#

u can't execute the orignal sh in that directory so now go back to the original one and run the sh again

wide fox
wanton trench
#

Up one more

lethal mantle
#

ya

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

GOIJFDAEfgarsijofjairghi0arsg]ij-adfgji0fdgij0

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

omg

#

this is what u want to see

#

follow those instructions

wide fox
#

ik ive been here already like 3 times today

lethal mantle
#

🤞

#

🤞

#

🫰

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

AHHHHHHH

wide fox
#

ok what now

lethal mantle
#

okay so first say a prayer

#

then run smapi

#

finally

wide fox
#

how

lethal mantle
#

no issues r spotted

#

it should just like be in ur apps

#

like in here iirc

wide fox
#

no where

lethal mantle
#

wait nvm i was thinking of mac

#

okay so go in steam and press play on stardew

#

im on the edge of my seat rn

wide fox
#

im switching off of proton

#

and going to the run time scout thingy

#

its updating

lethal mantle
#

hmm?

#

didnt u already do that

wide fox
#

no

#

well i mean on steam itsel

lethal mantle
#

u might have to rerun the installer idk tho

wide fox
#

pretty sure it just launched vanilla stardew

#

i dont have any mods installed tho

#

but no smapi mod conf stuff popped up at all

lethal mantle
#

oh like the terminal didn't pop up?

wide fox
#

no

lethal mantle
#

okay well the installer is all ready so we can reinstall rlly easily then try again

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

k now try again

#

i had a glitch where jus the terminal never opened on crostini but i thought they fixed that

wide fox
lethal mantle
#

FEOJFS[gij-]ergH-IAETGT]IJ-FREP]IJTREAITAREJOTE

#

TIGTDOGJSTE]TG

#

omgggg

#

omgggggggg

wide fox
#

my genuine reation to this information aSDVpufferrise

#

I literally got no relief or anythign from that

lethal mantle
#

pray the terminal doesnt have any issues

wide fox
#

no happiness

lethal mantle
#

then real game with pop up

#

now mods

wide fox
#

real game pops up

lethal mantle
#

terminal have any scary blocks of text?

wide fox
#

the almost 12 hours has eaten all joy from me

#

no

lethal mantle
#

we done

#

wait nvm

wide fox
#

im genuinely just waiting for everything to crumble around me

lethal mantle
#

i wish u just waited for me to reply instead of spendinf ur day

#

i feel bad

#

also like idk what the crostini server ppl were doing they were tweaking

wide fox
#

idk

#

im just glad im done

#

im free

#

hopefully

lethal mantle
#

i think in future instead of trying to find liek a full guide

#

just go through it urself using like basic linux guides

#

happy modding!
