If that doesn't work and you're able to load the save, there might be a second option, but.... it's not guaranteed to work. Atra's is almost universally guaranteed to work.

The bottom of your SMAPI shows it was starting to load things but it never got to be it due to you forcefully closing the game or it crashing etc
If your save was modded still gotta reinstall all the mods that were on it.
You don't need to open a save to get SMAPI working, just the game itself

Did you make sure it cleaned out the folder with nothing leftover? SMAPI can do that at the very least...where you uninstall and it leaves itself in the game's "empty" folder

Uninstalling the game can leave mod files in there still which messes with things
I haven't even booting up the reinstalled game, and steam is telling me the cloud is out of sync
I wouldn't worry since if you get a sudden connection loss to Steam's servers you'll get that

What's the purpose of Pytk/pytk lite? I'm confused?
The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false

A lot of Anti Virus programs hate ANY kind of .dll file. You need to turn it off to download SMAPI again, run the installer and then you can turn it back on ^^;

Yeah, it's massive. I think it's also modeled off of the old Immersive farm of SVE? But Idk. Either way, I can adjust the pet house on that one, but not on the one that comes built into SVE

Hi! I'm first time SMAPI user and a bit confused about the issue I run in.
I think think I installed everything right, no errors come out in the log.
The game loads and starts normally, it lets me create a new save and see the cutscene. But once it starts to load the actual game, the game freezes and doesn't work. Un-modded game works just fine.
Did anyone run into this issue?

Heyy, I have some mods, and I have been playing for like half a month now, and have only found 1 artifact spot. Is there a mod that prevents them from spawning? I tried to get the red circle around artifact spot texture pack but it does not help

but i'm not an expert
be sure to not click on anything while it's loading, it can stop the loading progress (there isn't any output on the log after few minutes from launching the game and it might have done that). with that mod setup i wouldn't expect too long loading times but depends on the computer of course and maybe the first load after save creation takes longer
Wait that's an actual thing? The clicking outside of the program stops it from loading thing? I just thought it was a quirk of my.. ..insanely unstable modpack
could be that you need to click on the smapi console for it to stop, but i'm not sure

I have also found what i think is a bug, if i use a pickaxe with the efficient enchantment, and use its special ability added by margo, it still uses energy
How would I go about adjusting a farm map to sync up and play nice with Stardew Realty? Can get into the entrance on the bought farm if I no clip just above the top entrance to the foresty area of Lunatyx's Legacy Farm, but I'd like to, ya know... Fix it.
Feels like such a niche problem I don't wanna bug either mod author with it.

Hi Guys! Does anyone know if the Better Chests mod is still supported by someone unofficiallly? I wonder if someone has made a fix for the issues with farmhands in multiplayer not able to use the carriable storages from the Storage Containers mod..
The author of Better Chests is still active. That sounds like a specific compatibility issue with Storage Containers, though, and not a base issue with Better Chests.
The Game kinda Slow to Load my save so I thought it has some error
You're on Android - it is going to be slower with that many mods installed.
Bugs and posts have been open about this issue in both Nexus and GitHub since last year and it is related to the opening of any chests in the farmhand's inventory
Where does it say that Better Chests is mp compatible? I'm not seeing that stated anywhere...and there is no guarantee that any mod will work with mp.

I'm having an issue where all prismatic shard drops from the skull cavern seem to drop whereever the host is. I was wondering why I don't get any prismatic shards and she's randomly getting them when going in the town or farm or whatever. Anyone knows if that's a common issue?

Hello! I have the issue that the SMAPI log tells me to update mods but some are already up to date.
I understand that the ones with multiple files (alternative ones that you can choose between freely) might show up as not up to date, but why do the ones with only 1 file do that too at times? Pls @!

I've just read that it happens when bombing iridium nodes. It then spawns randomly on other maps. Seems to be a vanilla game issue

Ummm.. I accidentally opened a json file and made it open in adobe photoshop and it changed all of the mods
How do fix it?
delete and reinstall the mod the json file is from?

That's not an issue, the game wouldn't mind. But you can right click a file, select properties and change "open with" and put any editor inside.

I have a weird glitch. RSV is installed and I just got the cutscene where you get introduced to Lenny. BUT the map doesn't exist? There's no physical place at ALL and idek how that's possible...

I already updated them all, it's just the manifests that are not up to date themselves.

- You edited the json of MARGO, don't do that, you edit configs in game. Redownload it entirely.
- When you hit "ok" to start the save, leave your computer and don't touch it for up to 10 minutes. Loading will take a while and clicking will interrupt it.

Hello Everyone! For some reason my Stardew Valley game will not load. The unmodded, stardew valley game itself, will load. But once I add SMAPI back to the game this happens. (See images...) 1) The SMAPI log begins to load and gets to this point. 2) Then the game looks like it is going to launch but gets stuck on this white loading screen and eventually says "Program is not responding", times out, and crashes. I have tried updating all the mods to the latest versions, then fully reinstalling, not only SMAPI, but Stardew itself. I have also made sure all of my drivers are up to date. How do I get the gift taste helper to work on mobile? I have a pen that came with my phone so I though hovering might work but doesn't, then I try the click option but it still won't work? I've only gotten it to show up for three people but no matter how or where I click it won't show up for anymore else

I'm sorry if this was a big drama a few months ago, according to the reddit that's about when the update happened. I'm on Steamdeck and after some update the game started crashing running natively. It works running on proton (windows) so I managed to get SMAPI re-installed as windows manually and am now successfully running stardew modding API as a separate non-steam game also running on Proton. But! Now I have some mods working and some not but I cant quite read the SMAPI log at start! and I cant find the log file anywhere, I followed both the windows and linux instructions on the parser page and didn't come up with anything. I've been combing through files manually and the reddit and nothing seems to be working, I definitely have hidden folders turned on, any other ideas? Thanks for any ideas, I feel like I've been hitting my head against the wall for hours.

I've tried several simpler methods along the way and didn't get anywhere, this is the first time I do have a smapi log at game start with at least some mods definitely working, I just cant find the .txt file anywhere. Though I've never had to find it before so I don't know where it would be even in a simpler install.

I have a question about how json assets works. Does it save the sprite of an item into the actual save file? It seems ridiculous, but there's no other way I can explain the behavior of this mod...
why would it save the sprite? all you need to save is the item's ID
think of json assets as a folder full of shortcuts: you remove the target file, the shortcut doesn't work anymore; you replace the target file, the shortcut points to the new file

I removed the sprite sheet in question, but the sprite still appears in the game. Here, I'll give you the background.
There's a cool mod called Perennial Flowers (not mine). It makes flowers that grow year round, but turn grey and washed out in the winter. It uses json assets to create the flowers, and Content Patcher to apply the grey sprite.
For some reason, when I added the flowers mid-save, they appeared grey, even though it wasn't winter. They still do.
I tried tweaking the CP code, but they didn't change
Eventually I deleted the CP folder - which is the only place the greyed-out sprites exist - from the game entirely
And yet, my flowers still appear grey
It's the most bizarre thing
I'm currently combing through my mods folder to see if I somehow have a second instance of it installed somewhere (though SMAPI never threw any errors about it, so probably not)
As far as I understand it, it should be impossible to still have the sprite in the game if it's not in the mod folder anymore, yet there it is. XD;

please don't use the CurseForge app for installing Stardew mods. while you're at it, also don't get Nexus' Vortex.

The error you get there is because you put your SMAPI installer inside the mods folder. Delete it. Can't see any other issues.

i think a shuffle is the least of your worries...
while the plan is to update all the important mods for 1.6, this might not happen right away
and at that point it may be better to just prepare a set of mods for playing from scratch

JA items currently probably don't shuffle and should not shuffle at all after 1.6 drops due to the ID changes. In the transition from 1.5 to 1.6 it's less clear what will happen.
ah thank you! that would be cool. my partner had tons of items and trees and when they got the cutscene in Ridgeside that adds trees and it shuffled everything and I saw how frustrated and discouraged they were.

i play with a lot of mods, have added some new ones over the past week or so, and i just recently noticed over the last few days, my game has been freezing for a while whenever it gets to midnight in game, but no other time. has anyone experienced this before? i looked at smapi, and saw no error pop ups either D: (also not sure if this is the right channel for this, sorry if its not !!)
Might be a specific mod that affects the day/calender is my guess. I had some similar freezing with the weather mod every time the weather changed drastically (ie loading the fog) so I would start your investigation with those mods.

I’ve edited the images in every folder I can think of. The only thing I may be missing is the cursor image, but I’m unable to find that location. It’s changing the language to imply she’s a witch, but not the image.

No. It means you should do those directions, but first you should have loaded into the game, into a save, and then quit out and grab the log
without rebooting.
I will stress one more time - you must have loaded into your save.
like go into the game, walk around your farmhouse bed for 2 seconds, then save and quit.

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

that particular line in the log, if you're worried, just means a portrait patch is missing.

To be honest, you're probably trying to use the CP/PyTK version, which dont work with PyTK lite. Get the Portraiture version

yes i downloaded the requirements and it works fine with other portraits just not the dcburgers one.
i also tried the portriature version but even then it wouldnt work for me

If you don't have file extensions shown, it would only show as manifest
But that part is only to tell you how Portraiture should be installed in your mods folder
You dont need to open it or do anything with it

There's a duplicate version of each mod in your SVE folder
that's what's throwing it, and also makes me suspect you have the old moddrop version.
Because SVE shouldn't require Custom NPC Fixes OR PyTK OR TMXL
so I would completely yeet your SVE install and get the one on Nexus.

This avoids issues such as leftover map objects, as well as having a large amount of heart events trigger at once. It also lets the user experience a continuous storyline.

I mean, at a point you're going to run into compatability issues with other mods, buy yeah
like there's no hard limit, but adding more mods will slow down your game a bit at a time, and if you have a lot, you might run into compatibility issues between some of them
I have ~600? mods on my main instance, and it takes a good 30 seconds to start a new day

hey guys, having some problems rn. i cant start any events in festivals. example: i cant start egg hunt when i talk to lewis, cant dance with haley at flower dance after clicking yes to both
the game acts i clicked nevermind to anything that would start a festival event
smapi log doesnt show any errors as well
do you have the bake off mod installed? and if so, did you update to the newest version? because that an issue with the old version, just in case that could be your issue as well

so i am having an absolutely wild margo bug rn, and i wanted to know if anyone else was able to replicate it before i go reporting it. basically, making any edits to the settings in the professions module erases all the default tax brackets from the tax module and i have no idea why
ive tried everything, including editing the config json itself rather than changing my settings in the gmcm, and every time my tax brackets disappear
i even tried not enabling the taxes module, doing all my settings stuff, then enabling it, and that seemed to work, but then i saved and closed the settings and on reopening it all the brackets had disappeared again

ok, upon further experimentation i think its something about saving and closing in the initial setup thats causing the tax brackets to erase themselves. i re-entered them, completely closed out of gmcm, then went back to check and they havent been erased so thank god for that
