i think this might be a old version + new version merge, so deleting RSV and reinstalling it could help

Hey I was wondering if I could get some help. I tried to mod stardew and it worked for a while with the 'Stardew Valley Very Expanded' Modpack but now when I open the game SMAPI tries to launch but a bunch of red text appears and then it closes and vortex says 'Failed to launch tool' and nothing happens. I restarted, deleted and redownloaded the modpack, I even deleted the modpack, verified the files integrety for stardew valley in steam then redownloaded the modpack, and it worked for a little bit, but I turned off my computer and slept for a bit and once I turned on my computer and tried to open the game it doesnt work anymore. Any help?

don't use modpack (collection in nexus). install all mods manually or use stardrop instead for mod managing
find the og Mods folder first, copy it somewhere (or copy it to Mods folder), then uninstall vortex. best way is still redownload all mods for fresh installation
Are you sure installing all the mods manually will help? Because it worked for a while before until I downloaded a few mods for clothes and furniture then it all started bugging out, and I didnt even download anything this time it just bugged out.
yeah, i've tried manual, vortex and stardrop. still manual install (and also update) is still better in any way

Vortex has this nasty habit of "losing" files or moving things around, not completely downloading the full mod file. Transferring from vortex is probably a bigger headache than it's worth.
Stardrop will accept zip files, so you don't need to worry about extracting; you can simply drop them in.

How do I do this stardrop stuff then? Because I deleted every mod and redownloaded smapi and the red text came up but the game launched, I can copy and paste the red text if you guys want cause it never used to do that before

The versions you have are not compatible. The version of Content Patcher that is compatible, for example, is 1.29.3
The same is true for CJB Cheats.

Hello all. I'm having a slight issue. Just spent a while gathering a good chunk of mods for a first start of modding. Downloeaded each thing, and fixed what i could. Only issue I have left is east scarp town. It says i'm missing a mod, but i have all required mods according to their page. Log is here. Question: Is Bus Locations a buggy/laggy mod?
there's a chance you can get trapped in a bus while using bus location mod, already reported as bug iirc
it say they need pykt, that mod is obselete. Log say the portrais are too big. Anything i can do to or am gonna have to resize the protraits?

my BFAV pigeon looks like a pig, any fixes for that? can it be because the words begin the same? (I have a mod that alters barn animal appearance)
unfortunately this is a quirk of BFAV that never got fixed - custom animals sometimes revert to their vanilla variants that they actually are under the hood
interesting that pigeons would be based on pigs, pigeons live in Coops but pigs live in Barns

one last thing, what is 'enable profile specific mod configs'?
When checked, each mods profile will have different config (for example i have a vanilla tweaks that change crops texture on one mods profile, but on another profile that feature is disabled). It's not necesaarily disable mods

Smapi window shows the mod as loaded. Some mods doesn't change anything until you load a save. Some can be seen straight from main menu (for example UI mods)

It's so strange that Fashion Sense content packs can cause fps drop to me... I have tons of other mods installed together and they just work totally fine.

If they're saying the button is pressed but SMAPI doesn't launch

Trying to download smapi on android.
First screenshot was first error, turned off VPN in case it was that. Second error was after VPN was turned off.

I need help figuring out what the issue is with my errors for MARGO specifically.
When I updated it to the latest one (4.0.1, released less than a day ago) I'm getting odd errors whenever I load a screen that has monsters in it. It doesn't matter if I've got the combat enabled or disabled, I still get errors for it.
The issue with the errors are also there no matter if I play an old save or create a brand new.
Worth noting is that in the older version I had installed previously I did not get these errors, even with all the other mods installed updated.

afaik nexus requires you to use vortex to download collections
using vortex is generally not recommended for stardew valley
one issue with collections for example is that the mods used will be mostly outdated

I would suggest manually downloading the mods themselves. Collections aren't very good.

this'll ensure that you use the latest mod versions and not whatever version was the latest when the collection was created

there is a handful of mods that I know of that can probally get your banned off twitch but not from the game

I've narrowed my problem down to space core, when the folder isn't in the /mods folder the game will at least get to the title screen absolutely fine. Hello, any help is greatly appreciated! I have a steam deck, I've installed the lastest version of smapi but the smapi loading screen doesn't launch when I load the game and none of my mods don't work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling smapi a hundred times and that doesn't work, I've done the same with my mods, I made sure my mods were unzipped but that doesn't work either. I've followed the wiki guide on gettings mods set up on my steam deck to the tea and I've gotten no success out of it. I have had some major desync problem latetly on on multiplayer game, only mods on it is Stardew Expanded, any of you may suggest a fix or something? for some reason time flow is completly messed up between each player (all 4 of us have different time and time flow)

It's saying the image files there are missing; it's possible they're named incorrectly or have the wrong file extension (png vs jpg, etc).
if the freezing started immediately after updating those mods it might be worth reverting those changes
we could also take a look at the smapi log to see if it prints anything useful

Hello, any help is greatly appreciated! I have a steam deck, I've installed the lastest version of smapi but the smapi loading screen doesn't launch when I load the game and none of my mods don't work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling smapi a hundred times and that doesn't work, I've done the same with my mods, I made sure my mods were unzipped but that doesn't work either. I've followed the wiki guide on gettings mods set up on my steam deck to the tea and I've gotten no success out of it. I agree with Quill; the best advice is to play vanilla to familiarize yourself with what the game adds and does. If you are curious about things you've not heard of, you can query the wiki for usage, etc.

I did also just now try with only MARGO (and dependencies) installed and while I got 0 errors when none of the modules were active I did get the errors again when having professions active.

I've been messing around with the different modules active and it has only been when it's professions activated that I get the errors. Going to see if I can figure out if it's a specific setting that does it.
(seems like even if I've unchecked all boxes on professions it is still giving the errors when that module is active)
Also just noticed that somehow it's not remembering that I've disabled the "enable stabbing swords" in the combat/melee weapon settings. Everything but that single setting works fine to disable/enable and save but the stabbing one just returns to being checked after I've saved.

from what I can see here, it looks like everything is deactivated except for professions..
That's weird. I doublechecked that it was all deactivated when testing

so I'm confused, if you get it without nothing enabled or with only professions enabled
but if nothing at all is enabled, then in theory that should be the same as uninstalling the mod
so 1. make sure everything is disabled, and check if you get errors
2. uninstall the mod and check again if you get errors
While I was testing it out it was a bit mixed with giving errors or not depending on if I started the game with professions active or not.
But I did not gett errors when I had the mod completely uninstalled. And as I mentioned in my second message, while testing only MARGO I was still having issues with the professions when active (but nothing else gave the errors when active)

Yeah, even when I only had it load with the minimal mods needed for it to run I got errors when having professions activated, no matter if a new farm or a previously created one. I'm about to try out older versions than the latest (4.0.1) and see if I'm getting issues with those as well or if it's only the latest one.

I tend to be slow with my updates usually but I know I did not have these issues/errors at all with 3.1.4. I did just now try with 4.0 and I'm still getting the errors with having professions active, and that's even after both reinstalling Stardew itself as well as getting steam to verify the integrity of the game files.
you're supposed to replace path/to/smapi with the actual path to smapi installer on your pc...
unless you install some XNBs you should never need to reinstall the game itself
SMAPI makes sure that no mod touches the base game files
Got 0 XNBs installed since I know that I, personally, would 100% mess something up while installing that.
But yeah, both 4.0.1 and 4.0 is giving me the errors when professions are active. Since I know that, at least for now, 3.1.4 works for me with no errors for the professions I'll keep that one and wait for next update and see if that gives me any errors.

its weird because i tried to open random bat file(minecraft server for example) and its working, i have my windows defender disabled and no other antiviruses

i deleted like 50+ mods just to get my mailbox mod working
hey all.. I installed SVE and now (because of the additional mods you have to install, I'm assuming PPJ) I have a ton of recipes to craft.. I looked up some of them, like chicken DNA and there doesn't seem to be a way to craft it.. I look on the dev's page and it says there's a 0% chance to spawn it using the DNA synthesizer.. how would I make it? I'm trying to get the crafting and cooking achievements =\ (ping me pls)

If not, install perfection tweaker and set the number of crafted items you need to exclude whatever can't be made

Yeah, when I hit the local co-op button in the menu it opens the click x button to join menu but nothing happens when I press the buttons on the controller. If I perform the same actions in vanilla Stardew it does work.

inside your save folder is a file with the same name as the folder twice, open the one without the appendix _old with any text editing program
then search for LargeTerrainFeatur, according to your log you should find that and it should be missing the "e" at the end

there will be a lot of hits (2453 for me) but the log tells you where to look Line 1, position 3145708, your text editor should tell you the position of wherever you set your mouse cursor

in that case, given that </LargeTerrainFeatur> is only appearing as a false tag you can instead of a search (ctrl+f) start a replace search (ctrl+h) and tell to replace all instances of </LargeTerrainFeatur> with </LargeTerrainFeature>
yes, if your save file can't be read the options are crashing the loading operation or crashing the game

So the official Stardew Valley have ALL the portraits listed under each character then?

(Since SpaceCore is necessary for so many things, removing it doesn't mean it fixes something, it means it breaks every other mod that needs it when it's not there)
i've disabled all mods and run each one on its own, and space core is tehe one that broke things, but it could've been because of vortex

A location in your game has a formatting error in the Warp map property (or the Content Patcher equivalent). Neither of those mods mentioned are likely to be related. (But as of that quote, you do have a mod with the ID aedenthorn.CustomWallsAndFloors active, so it probably exists in your Mods folder somewhere.

hi there, this is kind of a weird question, is there a mod out there that would let multiple people host a server? I’m not talking about having the server up 24/7, I mean being able to have more than one person start hosting a server, but also changing farmer names/inventories every time someone different hosts.

for some reason the v15 beta 16 thing just does that it seems, the stable version from like half a year ago (v14) works just fine and doesn't cause the lines

SMAPI 3.18.6 installer on Windows Microsoft Windows 10 Home. And it says the usual stuff about where do you want the file [1] C: system files 86x etc [2] Custom. And it says "color scheme auto detect" which I didn't notice until now.
Good news is that the installer is trying to install the correct version. Follow the instructions and let's see what happens! 🙂

I need some help! My fiancée and I are playing a heavily modded save. List of mods is very long. We are both married to SVE spouses. The game freezes up at nights, and get the same error message of some event failing to work properly spamming in the console window.
My best guess is the game is trying to ask one of us if we want to have a kid, and some of our mods that involve kids and/or modded spouses are not playing nicely with each other. Does anyone know which mod/mods might cause this to happen?

I was having this issue last time we were playing the game, and all the mods were up to date at that point in time. We quit for several months because of this issue, and jumped back into it today because we had forgotten about it. I can update our mods but IDK if that will fix it

Ok fixed! 
Several things.
- If you're playing a multiplayer save, could we get the other player's log, too?
- You have a massive amount of loose files & zip files in your mods folder. Get rid of them as they're just cluttering up your log and SMAPI tries to action them and can't.
- You have multiple copies of PyTK installed - delete all of them. This mod is obsolete.
- Delete Custom NPC Fixes - this is also obsolete
- Movement Speed and Time Freeze will break mp saves and one of these could potentially be the reason behind your game crashing.
- Shop expander appears to be broken - it also hasn't been updated since 2019, so odds are it's incompatible.
If after doing the above, you still get the event error, you will likely have to revert/undo to a previous save, sleep one day, and see if the issue still persists.
When I open the carpenters menu and scroll to the right or left it shuts down the menu after passing the vanilla farm buildings (Except tractor and industrial furnace). Is there any way to fix this? (idk where to find logs)
