I have one last solution that might solve my corrupted save. If I bring the save from Smapi to Vanilla and play the game there until it's saved, then move back said save to Smapi again, will that work?

If your save is corrupted (the xml is no longer valid), it’s not fixable, you have to use a backup

I literally used a backup from a week ago that is still working; I deleted current one and used the old one. Still not working

The issue is kinda simillar but the method is different
It could be Wild Animals mod or visible fish
Looking at the trace and error, smapi tried to recover sprite batch. I could be wrong
Ok, your save is probably not corrupted.
There's no XML errors in the log
The issue is likely something in the mods, and you can test this if you remove all mods except Error Handler
If the issue persists then, it's an issue with the save, but it's not save corruption
When someone talks about save corruption, usually they specifically mean when the XML formatting in the save gets messed up, which is actually irrecoverable
Since it's only when entering certain parts of the map, it's due to something in that part of the map, probably something added by a mod that is missing a texture or something odd like that
If you remove all mods including Error Handler your save will probably crash because it's full of modded stuff, Error Handler helps make it not crash when loaded without those mods but with the stuff left lying around

Looking through mods, this is overall much too many mods to sift through easily
I mean, you can try uninstalling stuff in reverse chronological order, but I see in older messages that you installed CCCB
So, that might explode and die
the problem is, if they start removing mods, there's nothing like Error Handler that will make sure their saves still load properly
If you're on android it's probably best to have some saves you don't care about to test out mods
yeah, but they can remove like, visible fish and wild animals at the least
Things you can't remove or things will probably die:
- any mods that adds NPCs
- I think any mod that adds locations
- any mod that adds items

In theory you could transfer the save over to a PC, with the same set of mods + Error Handler, play one day, save, transfer back

Hi everyone! I used eventlookup to check if I fulfilled the requirements for a certain event from stardew expanded (||enchanted grove questline|| however it says event not found? Another event from the same mod after getting the galaxy sword should've happened and when I tried to debug ebi it, it says event not found too. I know for sure I saw the prismatic shard event because I can purchase the galaxy weapons from Marlon. It's off because I know for certain other expanded events work but these ones don't for some reason. Any help is appreciated! It even allows me to forget the events even though eventlookup says they can't be found.

You can go into the configs and turn off the combat module as a whole to remove the effect (note that you'll have to input a command into the smapi prompt into the save you removed it from the next time you play) but other than that yeah the same thing Fenrir has said you can't change it individually.

So basically im playing with a friend and we both have Fashion Sense and some mods for it.. however while i see my character in a way, she sees it differently like the mod is broken or something (like, i would have blue hair but she sees them brown)
both of us have the exact same mods, we also tried to reinstall them to see if it would fix the problem... I do see her with the right clothes from the mod however the colors arent right.

my best guess would be that choosing colours doesn’t transfer well on multiplayer, but thats just a guess.

when I enable SAAT_MOD, SMAPI gives black screen in the server. Can I run extended without it in only server? clients will enable it

Currently latest version of cjb item spawner isn't working correctly on Android
i have a disability and am a bit of a slow learner and when i post here asking for help people have not been very patient with me keep telling me i have my file folders in the wrong place and saying things like i beg you check the red text and i have several times and tried to fix it based on what they suggest i am getting very close to fixing it bust still have a few snags but mainly the feedback i have been getting from others has not been very positive or helpful to me

Nope it's working but you can't select only a certain amount you will get all 999of them so use it wisely.

for the outdated Purchaseable Recipes mod, use either Buy Cookbook Recipes or TV Recipes instead
try the things i suggested, then maybe reinstall smapi to fix the Save Backup issue
to reinstall smapi you just run the installer again, no need to uninstall it first

ok so looking at this log, it doesnt seem like you actually installed any of the mods that you mentioned (playground and mermaid island). can you make sure you put them in the right place after unzipping them?
make sure its this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods
i extracted them into the specific folder. but yep im so dumb. should i delete all of them and then drag and drop them again?
you shouldnt have to delete them, just move them into the proper place and try again!

What is the quickest way to send my friends all of the mods that I am using, so we can all play the same mods? I am on Stardrop and don't want to send all of the mods individually.
whenever i open smapi, mods that i download from this server (in #mod-showcase ) say that they are empty files. any idea what this means? they are in the right area of my files btw.

youve got one copy of even more recipes installed inside a different folder of even more recipes
so delete that
and for ridgeside, it looks like you only installed one portion. make sure you move all subfolders (there should be 8) of ridgeside into your mod folder

If removing CCCB breaks everything I would downgrade your chances of success, so possibly try that first

I have mods installed, but I only played with them a couple times. The farm I want to open I NEVER used mods on. Now I cannot get SDV to load at all without having my mods command in the Launch Options spot. Can someone help me figure out how to just get rid of mods completely and still keep my saves??
If you never want to play with mods again, you can just delete your mods folder, the SMAPI folder, and delete the text input into the launch options field in Steam.
If you want to keep your mods but still play your vanilla saves, then you can simply open the game by clicking on the StardewValley.exe
So we attempted that last night, but SDV wouldn't go past the loading screen. It shows a MorrisTod character error. So we readded all my mods back, updated all of them, verified SMAPI was updated. Then I could open things running mods. However, when I try to run it without, it won't go past the loading screen again.
If you play with mods for a few in-game days, depending on the mods, you may not be able to go back to a non-modded game without breaking it.
And that is fine for pretty much any of my farms, honestly. But I have one farm that I never played with mods that I coop with a friend, but I can't get it to open either now, which is super frustrating. I would play my mod map solo and then I would remove the launch code and play unmodded co-op. Now I can't do anything unmodded.

Did you try running the game by just clicking on the StardewValley.exe in the game folder?

Yes
Sure, or wired? However you want it to connect. SMAPI doesn't really have anything to do with controllers.
However, I do advise making sure the controller is connected before you launch the game.

We did try that. So oddly enough, now I can open everything except one farm using no mods. So I think I have just lost the 1 farm (of like 6 LOL). So now I am going to delete all the mods and SMAPI and then just remove that farm as well. Thankfully, it appears I can now open my co-op map again for whatever reason! Thank you so much!!!

Hi everyone! Luckily no errors here! I'm using Farmers Portraits by aedenthorn but I'd like to change the background to the one used by Overgrown Flowery Interface. But I've looked into all the assets folders and I can't find the background? Should I be looking somewhere else? Or should I not change it all and the UI will overwrite it? Any help is appreciated and thank you!
edit to add: Also if anyone can tell me how to use custom sprites and portraits for NPC's Farmers Children by xiddav that would be very helpful!!
No idea about the second question, but as far as I know, Farmer Portraits just copies the original portrait background that’s used for NPCs. Just turn the custom background in Farmer Portraits off and it should work just fine.
for Farmer's Children Art there are three main parts.
Skin, Hair, Clothes.
There is also two different version of Farmer's Children Art. Standard and Deluxe.
Standard is simpler to understand, and Deluxe is still in Beta and will change in the future.

you have Female, Female Clothes, Male, and Male Clothes.
inside Female and Male there is a bunch of hair colors and a folder for skin. add you skin and hair alongside the others.
In the config, change the skin and hair to match the name of your new custom art.
for the clothes it is similar.
in Clothes folder is more folder.
Hair Accessories (the config is scrunchie)
Shirt
Pants
Jacket
Overalls
you can change the config to the ones you don't want to none.

I apologize for not being clear in my second question! Or I'm misunderstanding something. I understand I can make a custom child portrait and sprite that matches using the config but I'd like to use an entirely different portrait and sprite. Similar to Unique Children Talk for portraits and I use a CP mod to change the child sprites (I don't know if that messes with Farmer's Children).
you can add an entirely different portrait and sprite to the folder. It doesn't have to be a recolor.
just change the config names to match the new custom art name.
Farmer's Children does add animations (reading a book and playing with a ball), so it doesn't work with just regular toddler art mods. It also has 7 faces in portraits.

For example, these are the toddler_girl sprites I'm using (I didn't draw this btw!!), will this not work with the modded animations? The portrait I'm using for the children is a closeup of their pixel form so I don't mind if there are no expressions!

This is a different error, this one means the fish from More Fish definitely won't work.
those animations are part of the Farmer's Children scheduals. You would have to go into the schedual and edit them out for them not to be needed. you will need to do this every time there is an update. better to just edit the art to include the animation in it if you plan on using Farmer's Children.
for the portrait, if you don't have the corresponding expression when the dialogue calls for it, I don't know what happens, but it wont look good at the very least.

I can add the animation art myself but as for the seven expressions, do you have a list/description of what number expression corresponds to which emotion? Like $0 is neutral, $1 is happy/smiling, $2 is sad/frowning, etc?
It's one of the errors where if I see it, I sort of just sigh and wonder how much I want to dig into the mod's code

whats up im back homies and i found this mod that doesn't work, first they had it set to where you could only have the animal in the base level barn (not upgraded) so i fixed it, now i have them in all barn levels. but for some reasont hey dont produce their product. i've tested it for days extensively so it's not like a "once in a while" thing. I also checked the mod page and found that other people have the same issue. was wondering how i could fix the mod so they produce their custom item as intended. including my smapi log but it doesnt say anything about it either (and im not concerned about the gold clock issue)

oh yeah but the mod only has the content, manifest, and assets. thats whats in the content file and the manifest seems totally normal
i can tell you the problem
"DeluxeProduceLuck": 0.0 must actually be superior to 0.0 -> something like 0.3 will be 30%. It is supposed to produce somthing everyday after day 4. if it still doesn't work, then it means there is a problem with the Rose Milk item itself (added by JA)

So what I found out is that for some reason there isn’t even any mention of rose milk or meringue in the mod file, so there’s no json assets file or or PFM file either so ig I just have to implement it myself

unfortunately, from your log the last BFAV version seems stricly incompatible with android, which is a problem because previous BFAV versions all have big issues... so overall it's indeed incompatible.

SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance. It is highly configurable and you can choose which options to enable.
Get Spritemaster. If you don't like the smooth pixeled look, you can turn that off in the config.
That will stop my game from being in slow motion?
SM significantly decreases load and lag time - it's the only optimization mod for SDV. (caveat - for some people it doesn't work, but that's rare)

You don't have to keep it installed all the time, but when you do have lag, it helps to figure out where.
You can - it just adds a lot of clutter to your logs. I have mine installed all the time. It's just a personal preference.

The biggest flag to me is Dynamic Reflections. It's registering a ton of update per ticks. I don't have that mod, but there should be a way to change how often it changes in either the config file or through GMCM.

DCBurger's High Res Portrait Mod isn't patching correctly, so the portraits aren't loading and causing CP to twitch.
Sakura Interface Redux isn't patching the cursors tilesheet properly, so more CP twitching
"RukaBravo's Curly Maru > EditImage Portraits/Maru" isn't patching correctly, so that's not loading either

SMAPI found an issue with a 'Maps/FarmHouse_Bedroom_Open' map load: the 'Seasonal Garden Farmhouse V2' content pack reordered the original tilesheets, which often causes crashes. A lot of these are older and may no longer be compatible? I don't have any HD mods, but you may need to investigate.

The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.

OK. So, I've updated all the mods I had outdated. I removed PyTK like you said and even some mods I wasn't using before.
However, I see that this isn't limited to the Mountain map but also Ginger Island, meaning that something has to interfere with the tileset? Is that correct, I'm obviously not versed in this but I assume that the game has to pull resources from some set of images.

You are correct - you have several mods that are editing the same maps, and I think one of them may not be compatible with your recolor. If we were to just look at the Island, for example, all of these are editing tilesheets/maps.

I don't have a recolor mod though, I had Earthy Recolors mod before but I removed it recently
hi;; so i modded my game before and it went alright, but then later i decided to delete my mods, but I think i did smth stupid;; so i stopped the terminal that ran when i opened stardew, as well as deleting the folders for stardew, like the mods ones. But then it wouldn't let me open stardew, saying its already running, so I stopped iton steam but it just said stopping the whole time without anything happening. Eventually, i tried deleting stardew alltogether, then trying to redownload it from steam but it says its already open
Then one of those (though not likely SVE) is recoloring the tilesheets/maps directly.

Then SMAPI is not running. If you've completely deleted your mods and SMAPI, then try clearing your Steam Cache
Go to Library -> downloads -> click on the gear icon in the top right
Under downloads, select "Clear Download Cache"

Small quick problem I need help with. I'm using talkahooey's seasonal portraits mod, but I'm trying to also use a different seasonal wizard portrait mod. I removed the portraits from talkahooey's mod (making sure to save a backup of them), but it's saying that it's still trying to load the talkahooey one at the same time as the other one, and smapi is using neither of them. Any way I can work around this? I looked at the content and config jsons and didnt see anything relating to the wizard in either

I recently ran into some issues, to be accurate, the game crashes when talking to Clint (from my little understanding of the mods I had, and of the logs, it seems related to the Ring Enhancement module of MARGO (which I cannot update as it seems to have been removed from Nexusmod?)

Dexchampion - this is the error:

If you've directly replaced that with the other image, you need to make sure that the file name is the same
The mod author may be working on updates and hid the mod to work them out.
Also @frigid berry - this may not be fixable. You can try to revert to a previous save, but I don't know if that will work.
So, I've removed all the mods in that log which edit the Island, except SVE, and the glitch is still visible. Which could mean... that the ID's of the tilesets are somehow not in order? Is that even possible?
As this is specific to a quest, if you revert to a previous save wherein you did not accept the quest, you may be able to work around it? I know that MARGO changes a lot, so removing it mid-save may be disastrous.

I would say then that SVE is patching it incorrectly, which is odd. You could try redownloading SVE?

Ah damn, what a shame 😦 To be honest, I think I may need to go back quite a while before as I clearly don't remember when I accepted it. Well, I'll see if deactivating the ring module do any good or if it breaks even further if there's no other solution right now. Thanks for the insight regarding the mod, on Nexus!

I've updated it after the first log I've sent here, but I did the replace-files Widows does. Perhaps I'll just manually delete the folder and put in the fresh one, replacing may leave some old extra files?

You may also want to check this list of XNB > Content Patcher conversions (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Using_XNB_mods#Alternatives_using_Content_Patcher) to see if there are already replacements for any XNB mods you may have been using :)
So, i took a look and the files all have the same names, so I put the portraits from the one mod into the talkohloeey mod, and it no longer gave me the error, but reverted to the talkohloeey portraits despite the fact that I replaced the files directly

ok, well basically both the mods have seasonal portraits right? So the files in both mods are "Wizard_Spring" etc.
The talkohloeey mod has a folder for each individual character, so the wizard's portraits are separate from all other characters. I moved the portraits from the one mod into the talkohloeey one and specifically chose to replace them
That may be the issue. Weirdly. But it happens. Try deleting the talkohloeey portraits and then dropping the other ones in there. Also - it might help to do a file search to see where else there might be a "Wizard_spring" file

It looks for any difference between the original files and your files.
I am honestly stumped. Did you take out SVE and see if the glitch is still there? If it's gone, then SVE is definitely causing it, but I wouldn't be able to tell you why.
Gimme a sec, I'll start a new save file because I've been checking on one where I've progressed a lot in SVE's storyline
So, I completely removed the talkoloeey mod, but now the "trying to load two mods at once" error is back. despite the fact i completely removed the entire talkoloeey mod

Ah, i see. It DOES have a wizard folder, but it's just in a weird spot and copies the same portraits from the original

I've actually downloaded that mod because I like the idea of the mouse selling also tshirs in addition to hats, I see that there are two folders in the mod, the ShopTileFramework and the ContentPatcher one. The CP one alters the look of the house, is it possible to delete it and still have the STF one work?
I don't have it personally, so I don't know what the CP folder has in it. Hold on, I'll check.

I deleted the entire CP folder and just left the STF one and it works, the map glitch is nowhere to be seen but the mouse still sells cheese, cloth and tshirts. So yay!

Okay, so I kinda pinpointed the issue I had with that crash when talking to Clint, which would be a MARGO quest, it does feel like an awful idea, but by looking into my savefile, I could find the lines I screenshoted. I did made a backup of it before, but my first guess would be to turn the completed tag to true, to just remove the quest as a whole and pretends it never happened, removing any crash when talking to Clint. I'll see how it goes, but if anyone has any experience in manually removing or completing a quest, I'd gladly hear about it!

Ah well, even the CJB cheats menu crashes the game when I complete the quest from it, so there's something about the quest reward or dialogue animation aht doesn't go through 🤔

Your Error Handler mod is older than SMAPI. You may be missing some game/mod error fixes. You can reinstall SMAPI to update it.

Something didn't install correctly. I would advise reinstalling again.
It may not be the cause of your issue, though, just something to note.
But, the thing is that SMAPI, Error Handler, etc. do a lot behind the scenes to rewrite mod code so that it connects to the game better.
So it's always a good thing to make sure that they're working correctly.

Click on the links you posted, compare the mod lists one at a time. Your mods really need to match to not have issues. There are few exceptions to this rule, so it's best to just have them match in mp games.

hi, i tried to download SVE on nexus, after i click "slow download", it tell me my download will start in 5secs, but nothing happend after that. Other small mods like content patcher, spacecore download just fine on nexus. does anyone know how to fix it?:(
i tried the lunakatt's portraits and it didnt work too:( the file size is 9.3mb
