Gotcha. Maybe Lyoko, Vinilla, or nonu will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that for a log to actually record, you have to open a save file.
SMAPI will run, yeah, but no error logs or latest.txt will populate if you're not actually trying to access a player file

If finding a log is too confusing and you're able to load your save, you can install the In-Game SMAPI Log Uploader to get the log without having to search through the files. im sorry i dont want to disrupt the conversation here but i need help. i wanted to add a gameplay mod into my game (Skull Cavern Elevator https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/963) but i already have a farm and i dont want to mess it up. Ive been to the skull cavern in that farm a couple of times so im not sure if it would cause issues or not. What should i do?

Hi! You can set keybindings to navigate/edit chests: https://github.com/Pathoschild/StardewMods/tree/develop/ChestsAnywhere#configure, and use them with Virtual Keyboard on Android. It’s not ideal, but that might let you navigate chests until someone familiar with Android can contribute a fix.

Hi, hi!! I have Unique Children Talk and I don't have a custom portrait for them so I was using their sprite. Instead of a close up of the sprite's face, it just shows the entire sprite sheet in portrait form so I just.. stopped talking to my kids 💀 For context, the reason this is happening is because I have custom sprites for the toddler boy and girl. I have no idea how to align it so the portrait only shows the kid's bust and face. This isn't game-breaking at all but any help would be appreciated! Thank you! (ps. I couldn't find anything against uploading files/pngs as new member so I'll gladly delete that part if it violates server rules/etiquette!)

You can't really "align it" in the game, you have to make the fixes out of the game
I'm okay with this! Upscaling it shouldn't be a problem but do you know to what degree specifically? I found a ( https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/stardewvalley/sheet/169599/ ) sprite sheet of the vanilla toddlers but I don't know how to configure the dimensions to the vanilla sprite sheets to the custom sprite ones.

The issue: I want to keep the Seasonal Witchy Buildings for everything but the Obelisks. So I removed the content and config code that edited those assets. too big of text, was getting blocked by automod
....but then why did it allow me to put it in json?
So I managed to crop out the extra sprites, resize it to 64x64, and resize the sprite to show a head and bust but it came out blurry? It looks decent at 100% close up but anything more than that makes the image super blurry. I'm using pixlr, not photoshop so my options aren't as varied (and I can't afford photoshop). Will this work out fine?

And for rescaling, you should be able to get better results if you use a non-blurry rescaling algorithm

It's in .png form luckily! I'm actually not versed in editing in general so I appreciate the help!! Alright so I just downloaded the first free option available (Krita) and I was overwhelmed by all the options for artists but managed to "resize" the sprite to show head and bust but it's still appears blurry 🥲 Sharpening it doesn't really help. I think I'll just stop here unless someone gives me specific instructions on how to do this. Again, thank you!

So...when you change up maps, you run the very high risk of losing everything you had in the map if you don't pick it up first
You can try reverting to a previous save, picking up everything in the cave, and then try to install a new one
yeah logo is right, you should've removed them before switching, you can get noclip and see if anything is in the "void" but you'll probably have to cheat your stuff back in

I downloaded the Market day add-on once and there is a mod called randomnpcs in it. Maybe that's the problem.
did you download the mobile compat file and follow the instructions like they stated?
yes the random nps are buggy, delete that folder only and turn them off in the config
but i don't know if that's the problem, hopefully they will come back later and help you

@dire fractal! This should be an easy fix. Your game is still trying to load two different Farm Cave Maps. You need to choose one and sideline the other: Farm Cave Variety or Hot Spring Farmcave
It's also trying to load multiple assets for Dwarf and the night_market_tilesheet_objects
hum.. the hotspring farmcave was listed as a requirement for farm cave variety
Double check the mod pages on Nexus then - maybe one requires an override?

my game crashes every time if me goto busstop. Me writed this to here and atra warned me for can have deleted npcs etc. in busstop. Me inspect my save and me seen deleted npc in bus stop. Me pinged him because him can know how to fix this... idk. and me know, no one is anyone's personal helper.
Atra already said that it's difficult on pc, and thus much harder on your phone. If you already tried reinstalling RSV and that didn't fix it, just start a new save

We don't recommend editing a save file. If you don't do it correctly, you will break the save

A number of my mods installed through Vortex (from the Nexus) are posting as missing .dlls
I downloaded all of these through the Vortex button. (I checked at least 1 so far, and it did not have the .dll)
Manually downloading the mod in question worked, thankfully.
My question is, is this an issue with how the mod author set up the Vortex download, or something I'm doing wrong that can be fixed locally so I don't need to download 20+ mods manually to fix this one issue?

There were 2 mods released on nexusmods around this year or last year where it skips? or auto chooses the pet marnie gives to you and the cave event with demetrius. I believe it was made by the same creator.
If I remember correctly, the description goes along the lines of, for devs/modders who test their mods by restarting the game and would like to skip this scene.

Glad you found the log! Maybe the experimental patch isn't working for some reason? Lyoko said you're missing content.json & manifest.json files for SVE, which normally would be found in the content patcher portion/folder.
I'm sorry I can't offer a solution - I don't have an android, so troubleshooting beyond this point is outside my scope of understanding. I hope you find an answer soon. 🙂
hi, fairly new to the modded SDV; im having an issue when ever it comes to launching the game. it gets stuck on the loading screen where the whole screen is just white and then it crashes. but once i take the path out from the launch options its seems to work. is there somthing im doing wrong?
Hello. My game crashes every time I go to busstop. I checked my save file and there is an NPC added with Random NPC mode that is not in my game. I deleted that mod because I don't want to use it but my game crashes. Even if I install it, the NPCs there are randomly selected. It is even difficult to find that npc. I would appreciate your help.

I don't know how many more times you need me to tell you: Create a new save. You already said that the issue doesn't happen on a new save. Since you're android, solving this problem is quite literally impossible

@main cypress Reset Terrain Features (https://smapi.io/mods/#Reset_Terrain_Features) is a mod that lets you reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map using an in-game menu. That's especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will otherwise use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits).

Both of you should remove PyTK, but if you absolutely can't, you need to update PyTK to 1.24 as the 1.23.2 version has many differences to the 1.24 version your friend has. Additionally, you need to update Free Love - version differences will cause problems.

The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false
The difference in PyTK versions will absolutely crater your ability to join your friend.

Sometimes mods get flagged by overzealous antiviruses. If you're really worried about viruses in mods you can:
- download from Nexus or Moddrop, which check all files for viruses automatically
- preview the file contents on Nexus to see what you're downloading (content packs containing only images and json files are highly unlikely to be viruses)
- view the source code for most C# mods on Github by going to smapi.io/mods and checking the advanced options
- download and compile the source code yourself

ok hi i am back
i my friend and i installed pytk 1.24 and i updated free love but my game crashed immediately in co-op. we're gonna try again without pytk and hopefully that helps

Please do two things for me, then.
- Define crash. Be incredibly specific. What happens when you try and join.
- Two: Can you give a log from after you crash, but before you reopen the game?
i connect to the game, select my player, and when the black loading screen opens the music stops and i get an error message from apple that the game quit unexpectedly. no smapi log opens at any time during this so i don't have a recent log from when this started, just the one i posted earlier from the last game i opened before this happened

since grapeponta doesn't change the desert in the SVE version desert files do not work in the SVE desert by default
in SVE desert is "always spring", vanilla the season stays the same
the command doesn't really fix anything, it's just a way to find what changes are being applied, which aren't and for what reason
this is not easily fixed without changing the code in content from the ground up I'm afraid (you'd have to replace {{season}} with a seasonoverride for any file that is used for the edit)
if you're feeling confident you can open the content.json in VPR (not the SVE version, the vanilla one) with any text editor, after making a backup, and do as follows:

I need some assistance with my Stardew Valley Expanded. Basically, it now runs from 60 fps, to barely 5 at times. And I cannot locate the reason of it. If your game is crashing walking near your fish ponds, it's likely you have had a JSON shuffle within your fish ponds. There are two different ways to fix this:
Install Warp Snitch (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/9087), fish everything out of your pond, reset the pond, and put a base game fish in your pond, then save. You will lose your fish in your pond, but not your fish ponds.
Type world_clear current fishponds (or world_clear current fishpond ) while on the farm. This will instantly fix the issue - by deleting your fish ponds from your game. You will have to build new ones.
Also want to mention that my game lags randomly at some points, and idk how to get it to run faster.

i think the main ones that were struggling were the adopt n skin, haooy birthday, and some of the portraits which used to work just fine

You will have a more user friendly time of it if you install CJB item spawner though
This is several issues in one. Save Anywhere Redux would cause stuff like this, you're using the beta version of Adopt n Skin even though that's bugged (you should be using the stable version) and some of your mods are portrait replacers so have to be installed manually. (You also have to install Happy Birthday's content pack for birthday stuff.)

I have a question, I saw there was a new Smapi update (3.18.4) to download, but I'm worried if this is the update that will break mods that contain "will break in the next major SMAPI update". Is this a major Smapi update or is this update harmless?

For the user, this just means that the mods have old code and will break in SMAPI 4.0 if they are not updated - it is not anything to worry about at this time. (For mod authors, it's a not-nice warning to update your code already!

It's up to mod authors to update, but most are already done, just waiting for 1.6/SMAPI 4.0 to update
And those that don't update will most likely see Unofficial Updates done by the community, or other mods will appear to replace them

Vortex would just install the mods to your mods folder. You'll need to replace them manually
I'd just recommend downloading it manually tbh. Vortex is just not good with Stardew mods
But if you've already got them in your mods, all you need to do is find out which mods they're meant to replace

OK, so I used the "Profiler" mod as someone recommended, to see what mods are causing severe lag to my gameplay. Can someone please help me see and narrow it down? I am not sure if I am correct, but socializing skill takes up a lot of time it seems?

Yeah, you know... It is because I never play modded Stardew Valley via Steam.
For whatever reason, SV modded runs so much poorly if I launch it via Steam
But, if I play through by typing in prompt "StardewModdingAPI.exe", then it used to go better.
I'm not a computer wizard by any means, but have you checked your memory logs? do you have a ton of rubbish in the cache?
I most likely have hahaha - the laptop I use is pretty poor. And has "open fracture" on one side, something I can't do anything about xD
I would see if maybe cleaning up your memory will help
But all the mods I used for modded SV, played perfectly 60 fps, prior to SMAPI and some mod updates. Then it was reduced to mere 5 fps at many times.

I've used Content Patcher to add mail to give me a quest which has worked, and I've added a custom item as well.
I am trying to write a quest that will trigger as soon as I enter Town, but it doesn't trigger. What's the best way to go about asking for help?

Why is it when I try each time to download the SMAPI And Install it. It asks me to locate the StardewValley Folder I give the acces it says minigration is completed I close it and restart it again. And it says it needs to minigrate again each time over and over again.

Well... even SaveBackup is showing as empty but it's a preinstalled smapi mod soo there's something more wrong there

Looks fine I think, only if the mods that smapi flagged as empty actualy have the correct files. You can try reinstalling smapi (just run the installer like you'd install it for the first time). If it doesn't help, you can wait for people who know better than me hah
