Disable resampling if you don't want the graphical changes
I load my nearly 350 mods in a minute or less with no PyTK and SpriteMaster

Locate the mod that says its outdated, open the folder, there should be a manifest file, open with text editor, change Version to the updated one (check the log for one it should be)
It makes Smapi not bother you about outdated mods
But if they are already updated version it doesnt make a big difference

SMAPI itself will never freeze
and it really depends on the mods themselves
there's some people running more than 2000 mods, but they basically have to make AND drink a coffee before the game starts
I play stardew valley on my cell phone and I often have the problem that it takes time to load the game and sometimes it doesn't respond smapi
I only have 59 mods

i mean, these 59 mods probably don't work correctly on mobile to begin with, so of course you're gonna have problems...

I don't use vortex and most people here will say avoid using it and do mods manually or use alternative mod managers like stardrop

But I would just use stardrop instead for dealing with your mods.
Download all mods from your download history on nexus. Then use stardrop instead of vortex
hi, i've already been here with this problem but i wasn't able to solve it so here i am again
when i try loading into my save file the game loads normally and it runs the day for a few seconds but soon after it freezes and either crashes automatically or stays like that for 3+ hours (haven't tried longer than that). it's weird because i was able to play on that day before (had to quit though because it was late) and it also happens to earlier saves. i can also most likely use another file with the same mod list normally since the day loaded regularly

it doesn't give me the error log, only the latest one, and i have the latest better crafting and the reset terrain features one is most likely the uploaded beta which i haven't used before. i would really like to be able to keep playing as i did put quite a bit of time into the save file

it's asking if you removed custom npcs, for npcs with names same as some sve and vanilla characters, so that's the only thing that comes to mind

has to do with stardew being single threaded.
there's not much you can do, most of the time people "hide" stutter by sticking it in warps (where' it's mostly hidden by warps fading in and out) but, as you can tell, that does not work with local co-op
ah ok so nothing I can really do I knew that with SDVE that I had to make a change to moster spawn rate cause it would spawn monsters in exess via the config file
I didnt know if the other two mods needed anything like that
I'm going to be honest: the best thing would be to not play local co-op. Even two copies of the game on the same computer runs better.

So my recommendations -
You have a few mods that have a lot of known issues (i.e. they haven’t been updated in a long time)
Namely:
Walk to the Desert Redux
Moon Misadventures
TMXL (and anything that depends on it)
Additionally:
Free Love and can some issues with other mods that add characters so if you just married someone that might be an issue - though I don’t suspect that here
Make sure you have Romanceable Rasmodius SVE Compatible (if this is the day that the Wizard messages you that could cause an issue - or maybe other issues)
Try making a backup of your save file and then running without those mods (or with the changed versions)
If that doesn’t work then a more systematic check of mods is needed
I've been playing on my Steam Deck and I noticed that I'm experiencing constant micro-stuttering every 10 in-game minutes which is very annoying, so I installed Profiler to find out what might be causing the lag.

Looking in my log, though, I don't know what's causing the micro stutters. It just says that it's Content Patcher, so it's most likely one of (or maybe multiple) my Content Patcher mods. Can anybody help me figure out which mod(s) is causing the lag?

...Yeah, it seems like DSV was taking a lot of time updating every ten minutes in-game
I tried taking it off and the micro stuttering is basically gone now
i'm afraid that's just how mods like that work
you can try tinkering with its settings to reduce the stutters
but you'll definitely lose some cool stuff then
honestly, DSV should probably just switch from CP to C# altogether
they'd have much more control on the actual times they replace assets
so instead of doing it every 10 in-game minutes, only do it on new day / nightfall / location change
(tbh, I thought they would go to a system where they dirctly assigned the AnimatedSprite npcs use)
and bypass editing texture2ds as much as possible
Would Seasonal Outfits: Slightly Cuter Aesthetic be lighter on performance?
DSV has a lot of settings you can tweak, to the point that you can make it so it only has the minimum seasonal outfits and festival outfits like SCA has
theres also the completely non seasonal version if you want that

expansions such as sve and rsv tend to cause the most lag and load time increases
so yeah more characters may mean more lag

So if somehow the folder is mounted separately (i.e. on a separate drive) when you drag and drop the file it will make an alias rather than copy it (think of on windows when you have two drives it copies on drag + drop instead of moves)
So if for some reason the files were on a flash drive or something (that's my assumption) then that may cause the files to be come aliases which point to nothing (as the error showed there before)
You can bypass this by holding command while dragging or manually copy pasting
If there was no other drive then the files may have ended up in the Applications folder or something similar (they will have the same issue)

The library is not protected quite the same way so not sure how that happened, but if something got moved from the applications folder to the library folder and then deleted it would have the same overall effect
(I'm actually only 50% sure that would happen on an external drive but it always happens from the Applications folder)
ohh ive seen a few people with two mods folder on mac, i wonder if that's what happened here. their mods got installed to another folder, and when it didn't work, they moved them to the correct one not realising it was making an alias rather than actually moving it. which would explain why the three base smapi mods are also aliases

not relevant to your current problem but you can remove pytk and tmxl, which are no longer used for anything in your set up
yes i have, and i've had this problem before too but idr how i fixed it or if it fixed itself somehow. it was working fine the night before without me changing any settings. the only thing i noticed was there was a cutscene at the start of the day and maybe that's causing the issue. i wonder if i just skip that day if itll fix itself but i dont really want to lose a whole day.
(and removing unnecessary framework mods = faster load times)
i dont have the mod so i cant say if that's an issue with it or not tbh. you can try to see if tweaking your settings again helps reset your speed boost
ok there is no way that I know of to force things to auto-alias but if you drag and drop holding option+shift then it will alias
so either that or the separate drives (or applications folder) issue is my guess
Downloading could be configured weird or something along those lines
(i.e. downloading to the applications folder for some reason or whatever unzipping tool is dumping them there)

My game's started lagging v badly, to the point it's unplayable.
It first happened Fri night when i was trying to test things for a mod i was making and i Think that was b/c I'd had chrome browsers open while running/playing the game and toggling btwn tabs (i don't/can't do that normally).
Now whenever i load my save (it & game load fine) the lagging/stuttering occurs as soon as my farmer wakes up in bed. The frame rate shows as 1-2 on the Steam FPS counter. Nearly impossible to navigate/move around.
The worst happens whenever i enter the forest, which is concerning! the game just hangs and i cannot move my farmer at all or press buttons and my cursor also is frozen most of the time. Warping to another location doesn't fix this either... after i enter the "cursed" forest, it wrecks the game and i'm unable to do anything outside of console commands.
I hope not/don't think so but gotta ask if it's possible my mod had anything to do with this..??
(it's a simple Custom Companions mod that adds in a CC in the forest.) i don't really think it would cause this but i have no idea what's going on! there are No errors in SMAPI (outside of me messing up commands) /nothing pertaining to this problem AFAICS.

It’s likely that the more mods you attempt (in conjunction) the higher the chance of error - make sure it’s one at a time

But there was no conflict like... A year ago
I know Teh’s requires 7 days after catching - not sure about the other but if it doesn’t change the right flag then removing one might make it think you haven’t caught any (and therefore doesn’t do anything and you can’t recatch)
If you can try making another save and w/ cheats menu or something get to the required levels and see if it works

Well now it's an optional mod, except if it's bundled in the original mod? However, even without that independent file and only RecatchLegendary + regular Teh's overhaul, doesn't work

Looks like that isn’t the issue then - unless it weirdly spikes during entering the area where it was freezing
What I find even odder is that before not being able to catch it anymore, it was on Teh's real time list, and just disappeared all of a sudden

The 1-2 fps starts as soon as farmer wakes up. On menu screens it goes up to 20 or so.. but in the game, right back down to unplayable 1
It could be the sheer amount of dynamic mods in there too - depends on your hardware and didn’t sound like the RAM was the bottleneck (16 should be enough unless you have chrome on)
That combined with the other issues could be the problem
but the first time I've seen the bigloop logging that found that it was soemtimes death by 1000 cuts

I would expect that dynamic reflections could cause some issues on a really big map (more reflections) which would explain the freeze on entering an area
Combine that with NPCMapLocations and then it’s gonna be an absolute slog
unless I did a clean windows reboot prior to launching stardew, NPCMapLocations + NPCLocationCompass made things terrible and removing them made my game more consistant
Game does a pretty good job of not rendering what is not on screen
(It doesn't do a good job of rendering stuff quickly though. One reason why you get frame drops if you zoom out too far.)

Coming from the MC modding space people are just bad at coding
font settings uses your computer's own installed fonts, but for what you want to to do (turn off the shadow) you have to go into the general mod settings, either in the cog on the title screen or from pressing g while you're in game, find font settings and turn on 'remove font shadow' or something like that
and now my daisy niko recollour is gone but even worse my npcs are walking through everything

Then head over to the East Scarp discord and get the version of ARV that doesn’t need TMXL/Custom Music
That may be part of the issue still looking at other things

tuned to do internal timings and print if its ever more than 0.5ms and will say which part of the update loop is causing problems if it is internal and not GC related from logic inside it

hi! i just closed the game xD. tried it w/o any NPCMapLocations and nothing seemed any different - still very laggy/fps at 1-2 whenever i was in the game trying to move my farmer (higher around 30 for non-moving/menu screens).

I went to durins rest and durin gave me 25 dwarven barley to plant and I did everything normally but cannot plant it. (shows a red square instead of green) I tried with other modded seeds and they all do the same thing.

Originally the game started up and crashed once I moved from my bed. Then I accidentally erased the mods and the game so I had to redownload some mods back when I reinstalled the game. Now it's just saying "saving."

the pytk creator said that any mods that say they need it can usually have that req removed from their manifests and he shifted the old pytk stuff over to SpaceCore (or something)

Most mods that relies on pytk already drop pytk as dependencies. Unles you use sonething like DC Burger portrait if you didn't convert it to hd portrait youraelf
Or Climates of Ferngill, which will not be updated to move off of PyTK and you should use other stuff before 1.6 breaks it entirely

I know, I'm pretty stupid.
Android SMAPI is still working out a lot of the kinks with its stuff. Half your mods aren't working because of Mobile SMAPI
literally, there are things like:
23:46:46 WARN Content Patcher Ignored (CP) Food Gal Shop > EditMap Maps/Forest #2: the When field is invalid: invalid DayOfWeek condition: invalid values ( Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday); expected one of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Those are all clearly values that would work if on normal SMAPI, but since Mobile smapi, it completely breaks the patch
Dynamic tokens are broken to hell and back, according to the SCA bugs

ES apparently works (baseline ES, which isn't much on its own - well, not much in terms of NPCs. There's a fuckton of content and ES is awesome) and RSV works except for the world map, so you basically can't look at your map at all if using RSV

iirc uninstalling sdv will also delete mods folder, your save will still be on cloud if you have that enabled

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. My stardew valley is so slow when opening and loading. It's not like this before and the game stops whenever i sleep after a long gameplay. Only after playing for a while, my diagnosis is it's the Farm Type Manager mod is the one causing the problem, idk if it's same with anyone who have this Mod.

There are mods that access files in your phone (which almost all mods are going to do) and this is telling you that that is happening
Doesn’t account for any issue and you can probably disable the warning in some config
i used to heavily mod my game and the other day it decided to not run, it was stuck on the SMAPI loading screen. I tried fixing it by updating SMAPI to the newest version and deleting Antisocial NPCs but I gave up since it didnt work and decided to delete ALL my mods and SMAPI. I've taken the Mods file command out of the Steam properties but it's still refusing to open. I've uninstalled and installed it again at least a million times. So far it takes 15 minutes for it to open and it crashes as soon as I click anywhere. :(((((
I've reinstalled SMAPI with the base 3 mods that it comes with like another user suggested but it's still crashing and I'm sad I'll never be able to play Stardew again

If you're using Steam or GOG on Windows, you will need to set your launch options in order for Steam/GOG to automatically launch with SMAPI. The SMAPI installer will tell you what to set as the launch options when it completes (green text). it's not extremely necessary, no. Some people keep it just in case, but if you need to reinstall SMAPI, you can always download the installer again

Has anybody else tried running DSV on the Steam Deck? I've been trying to run it on mine, but when I add the mod to my mods folder, it introduces stuttering every ten in-game minutes. Is my only option to turn down the lightweight configuration all the way to Ultralight? I've already tried Light which didn't solve the stuttering.

When you find a mod on Nexus you gotta extract the archive first (so don't put .zip files in it)
