I get that - but there's no error to trace down. The crops seem emtirely random - base game, add on. They're planted on the farm, in the green house, on the summit farm in RSV.

it should never fail to load busstop tilesheets.
(CP) TreeStump may be the culprit, but otherwise? I suspect XNB mods, which could cause the problem you state.
To your knowledge - and I know you may not have, but still answer - did you ever enter the game's Content folder?
Not the one for the base game, no.
I did do a few edits on the jsons in a few mods, and as part of that opened some asset images.
but nothing at all in the main content folder.
i'm debating if it's more trouble than it's worth.
Because Extra Map Layers - a kind of important mod for drawing stuff on the map - is yelling about it

that said, even with the errors that get thrown, it seems to 'work' and I didn't find anything in the code that would be making random crops disappear.

Out of curiosity (besides other people blaming Cowboy Life), is there something that happened that made you think it's Cowboy Life/ made you check there? cause I realize it's not mentioned in the error

SMAPI\cptreestump this is also a tell
no doubt - the treestump mod is a bit of a cluster. But the rose cows work, and the shop works, and the heart events work, and although that tilesheet mod gets thrown, the shop loads and works fine.
as far as xnb mods go - I have never used anything except smapi mods. I don't use a mod manager. If it's possible to install an xnb mod by only downloading and unzipping a file into the mods folder then I might be wrong - but that is the only method I've ever used.
the general xnb instructions say to replace files within the main game folder, which I've never done.
I did go through and reset files - but steam didn't find any issues.

Where are the crops disappearing?
I've noticed it on the main farm and in the greenhouse. but not in grandpa's shed.
nor in the haunted greenhouse of RSV.
I have the summit farm unlocked, but I don't have crops up there to know.

it honestly looks a lot like they've been eaten by crows or hit by lightning - one crop missing out of several.
but no storms, and they're covered by scarecrows.
it was happening in the fall with base crops - corn and cranberries.
are you sure the scarecrows are covering everything?
but it's winter now, so all the crops are modded.

and I counted the squares in the overlay to make sure that the overlay wasn't wrong.
and then i double covered with base scarecrows instead of deluxe.

I have the winter gem crops, where I'm noticing now. But also in the blue roses and the winter vegetables, and the crops from raffadax
like ever? yes. but it's not all the blue roses that are going away.

This is a sign someone screwed with the dino growth rates or something
there isn't a baby dino normally
It's the only mod i have that changes anything about farm animals, I also found it in the bugs section of the mod page. The author responded with a fix but the lines they say to delete don't exist.

I think ill try to add a babydino xnb file to just load the hatching dino even tho it glitches and then sell it. I will just give myself some dino eggs for the museum and mayo when i need it ๐ฅฒ

Hmm so since i know nothing about modding, i tried just making a copy of the dino xnb file and changing the name to babydino, it let me name and hatch the dino, but it was glitched (four dino that disappeared from time to time) could i do that, sell it and then try changing what you guys mentioned?

So here, you can see where one of the radioactive ore crops (bottom left) has disappeared. You can also see in the bottom left of the white fronds (which are glass pumpkins) there's one that doesn't match - because two days ago when it disappeared, I planted a spearmint there instead. Same issue with the two odd spots in thedark green of the top left

Hello! I am experiencing a strange bug where my inventory shifts three spots to the right after i hit tab. The items on the far right of my inventory are still there, organizing my inventory moves everything back into view, so nothing is deleted. It continues to do this even after I've turned off all my mods except SMAPI, not really sure what's going on

hi yall i'm having trouble with smapi causing random stutters in my game, even with absolutely 0 mods. i found it was a common issue when i googled but none of the suggested fixes worked for me. i had this issue yesterday too but i posted it in the wrong channel like a fool. any help is appreciated
already tried: completely uninstalling and reinstalling smapi (no mods whatsoever except the default ones bundled with smapi), the high priority and affinity fixes

you can disable resampling in the config menu if you don't like the graphics changes

yeah this is something i already followed
the high priority, affinity thing, manually setting it to use my gpu (even tho it should do that by default since i dont have integrated graphics at all)
none of it worked
my game randomly went to a "playable" state yesterday so i thought it was fixed somehow, but turns out nope, i just got very lucky with some random stuff
well, i cant say for sure that industrial furniture is the cause, that's why i asked you to try without the mod
by playable i mean it stuttered once and then never again
your log says some mods are outdated

1 is an unofficial update and the other is the "lite" version of the mod 
if the official version is broken i'd say you should use the unofficial
you probably don't need pytk
it's not tho it was working fine today
i cant see anything that needs it in your log, and if you have hd portraits youd only need pytk lite

one thing i can try is moving the game from my HDD to my SSD, but i don't think that should make a difference since 1. vanilla works buttery smooth and 2. i don't even have that many mods
@tired brook hi! sorry for the ping. taco cat has been having an issue with stutter w smapi installed (even with 0 mods or with only the 3 base smapi mods). vanilla works fine. they tried all the steps in troubleshooting and nothing helped. hopefully you can help them out?

What if you fully exit Steam from the tray icon, then launch StardewModdingAPI.exe directly in the game folder?

3 seconds for the game to load and <1 second for SMAPI to initialize, which seems pretty normal; so doesn't seem to be hard drive issues.

Interesting. So it's not something SMAPI itself is doing; that version just launches the game immediately with every feature turned off (those are the game's built-in log messages).

i don't have anything in my exclusions atm. but adding the sdv folder to exclusions also didn't help stuttering

the control panel is mostly for display settings, it doesn't detect games at all

Looks like you don't have Content Patcher installed in that log, and Baechu's Portraits isn't working because it needs Content Patcher?
i think the threaded optimisation thing actually made the stutters more noticeable

I'm not sure what else to try off-hand. It doesn't seem to be something in SMAPI itself (since it happens even when SMAPI does nothing beyond launch the game), so it seems like something on your system is treating the SMAPI app differently from the Stardew Valley app (whether it's security settings, GPU optimizations, etc).
hm... i've got no clue what it could be. i haven't messed with any security/gpu settings related to stardew until now
one of the fixes seems to be getting net runtime version 5.0 specifically.
so i'll try that and update
damn it. didn't work either. but it took MUCH longer for the stutter to show up.
update: installing the latest .net runtime (7.0) seems to have worked. i had a small micro stutter when i first exited out onto my farm, but then after that nothing
we don't party yet! because this happened yesterday (when i removed a random mod) and that turned out to be a fluke. praying this isn't a one-off

all of the baechus portrait doesnt work
the thing is when i remove the content patcher, the portrait works just fine. But when I add it back, it doesnt work anymore
You have seasonal cure character that also patching portrait. It's loaded after baechu so baechu patch got overwritten

hey guys. i'm trying to trace down some unwanted behaviour. I'm not certain it's actually a bug - I suspect one of my mods is doing something that causes it, but I have -no idea- which one.
my crops are randomly disappearing. Not all the crops of the same kind, but like... one out of a block. It acts as though they're being hit by lightning or eaten by crows - but no storms, and everything is covered by a scarecrow.
In the image below, you can see where the missing crops were on the farm. (two of those squares went missing a few days ago, so I've replanted, but you can tell they're different)
This happens at the RSV summit farm, the farm that lewis opens east of clint's before the shearwater bridge, and in the main greenhouse on the farm. It does not happen in grandpa's shed or in the haunted greenhouse of RSV. I don't have the community greenhouse in RSV unlocked yet to test.
As I said, I think there's just a mod I need to either change settings for or remove, but I didn't see any settings in the generic mod config that would make sense, and I know that not all the mods are represented there anyway. Just trying to figure out which one might be my culprit so I can fix/change/remove it. Thanks!!

Hi I have a question, I want replace the npc portraits with the portraiture mod but I also want to change how their sprites in the world look. I have new xnb and png files of those characters but I'm unsure if theres a mod i can use to change it or do I have to directly mess with the xnb files.
while it's possible to mess with the xnb files, it's not recommended. There are several mods that change sprites and portraits. Did you just want 'change' or did you have some specific ones in mind?

Sorry I didn't see your reply! But yes I use Smapi and a bunch of mods often. I downloaded some character files from Naver (Korean web) and they mostly only provide the xnb and png file of the character sprites (not portrait) and no CP content version.
So I was wondering if theres a similar mod to Portriature (mod from Nexus that alters portraits) that would let me alter the sprites of the npcs and not just their dialogue portraits ?

There are some other mods for SMAPI that alter the portraits and sprites available on nexus. You could, in theory, use one of those and replace the assets in it. But that gets complex if you're not certain how everything all fits together.

I'm not the one creating the mods so unfortunately I can't just command the creators of works I like to make their things Content Patcher useable. And I think the only thing limiting people from accessing Naver is knowing Korean, not sure how learning CP is a requirement.

@dry remnant In your "Magic Greenhouse Garden" and the "Magic Greenhouse Gateway" mods, it wont let me walk through the portal on the way in but it lets me walk through it on the way out. To get in I need to use the "debug warp" command to get in.
Yeah, it's an issue when you use the mods with existing save
I've write how to fix this on the description, you need other mods delete the greenhouse, and rebuild it, it's not the best thing, but better than nothing
If you will do it remember that you will lose everything on the old greenhouse map (only the one with portal, the other are safe)

I've downloaded few months ago some mods on Nexus and one of them adds a location to the left of the wizard tower and it's bugged (my character disappears as soon as I enter the location). for some reason right after the full hearts event where Emily gifts you the entire outfit she made. My ability to interact with her completely broke. Keeps giving me this error which apparantely has to do with Free Love's collaboration with the Custom Gift mod;

You've also installed the PPJA mega pack and the individual mods - to clear things up quickly, I'd just delete the Mega Pack
Now what can I do to make PPJA work?
Just delete the mega pack
That way it'll take out all the multiple copies at once.
So delete PPJA Mega Pack from your mod folder and install Custom NPC Fixes and that should take out most of your issues

Can someone help me figure out why I can't place down tea kegs from the Raffadax mods? They don't generate errors, they craft fine, the one I had placed already works fine, and the other machines from Raffadax are fine (or at least the 5-10 I checked). The placement square stays red and clicking does nothing.

Can someone help me figure out why I can't place down tea kegs from the Raffadax mods? They don't generate errors, they craft fine, the one I had placed already works fine, and the other machines from Raffadax are fine (or at least the 5-10 I checked). The placement square stays red and clicking does nothing.

go into your saves folder, there should be two files
(farmname)_randomnumber
and one of these files should have _old at the end
what you want to do is save the file without the _old at the end somewhere
remove it, and then rename the one with the _old at the end
you'll want to remove the _old, and it should load the previous day

you can move it anywhere that isn't the trash bin or the folder it's already in, just make sure to back it up just in case

I'm trying to install Stardew expanded onto my Stardew (I use steam) I've put in the code

If there is a difference between running vanilla and a bare minimum SMAPI that only also launches the game, then imo it could have something to do with your video card tools
It could be changing some settings for Stardew (a game it knows) and not for SMAPI
i tried changing settings in nvidia control panel for smapi too, but it didn't do anything
i'm not really sure what settings it could be, i'm willing to try anything at this point

I believe it also changes some settings for games automatically

(this mod has worked in the past, judging from comments on the custom community center bundles mod itself it's not that actual mod that's the issue)
Temporarily remove Custom Community Centre until you've finished that bundle

You could try a deep antivirus scan to make sure you don't have any malware interfering with performance, if you haven't already.
Otherwise the last potential fix I can think of is the nuclear option:
- back up your mods (and anything else you want to keep);
- perform a Windows reset to remove all non-default software;
- reinstall the game and SMAPI;
- see if the stutter still happens.

hi, I'm trying to download smapi on my laptop, but it's very old (windows 7, 32 bits) and when I try to download smapi for windows it says error and that is not compatible, I'm also trying to do it manually but it's confusing and I need help for it

(Windows reset is an in-OS option, not a reinstall. I guess a full reformat and reinstall would be the thermonuclear option?)

I finally fixed my bash script for reinstalling everything I need on the Ubuntu partition!

Well, the reason why I can do it with ubuntu is the vast majority of software I need to install is either via apt-get or pip
I actually haven't figured out a Windows solution either, but frankly Windows just needs to run Powerpoint

Didnโt matter for me personally but I would hazard a guess MacOS and windows may have different stutter sources
