this is just a question, i wanted to add adopt n skin but i have a lot of mods already, and it says the following can cause issues: "Reskin mods - These mods compete with A&S when trying to reskin or adjust animals, and cause weird issues. A&S covers their functionality once the skins from these mods have been moved into the AdoptSkin/assets/skins folder. Call randomize_skin on existing animals that used the reskin mod's assets."

What if I try this? If you installed this mod with a save that has already added 2 more rooms with Robin and has some floating walls showing through, please try "reset_walls" console command, or remove them again from Robin.

Oh yeah I just remembered an unintended consequence that happened as a result of 2 very specific mods but anyway if you download the Robin romance mod along with any mod that changes sebastian into a girl Robin still refers to sebastian as a guy so it sounds like she's dead naming her Trans daughter

When I see that error, it tells me something's wrong with the children. Ergo, first I had to check you didn't name a child after a current NPC

The only person I know who can fix child named after custom NPC errors is Lemur

That might actually be why. Child2NPC would make your child an NPC once they're old enough
if they're almost a toddler, then suddenly Child2NPC would activate... screwing the pooch with regards to NPC named Joseph
I didn't think there was an npc named joseph but ive removed town school just in case

Please I need help with this SMAPI problem I have attempted all fixes on the internet I could find such as reinstalling, manual installation, updating driver, restarting and nothing has worked. I have not found any answers to this question yet and I just really want to play some modded stardew valley.
Stardew valley boots up fine normally but does not run if I run it through SMAPI even without mods.
The app asks for me to run the program and allow changes to my computer every time I've launched it but I don't think thats the problem I've also tried running it as administrator but nothing has helped so far.
My log file is included but it suggest reinstalling SMAPI which I have done multiple times and it still does not work. 😦

How long are you letting it load?

and there is an npc called jolyne in sve

from what I can see, it's a Child issue. This is what I usually see when a child is named after a custom NPC. Green had a child, named them after an SVE character but the SVE character baby didn't exist any longer. They've had another since then, and have a birth event with Sophia
I'm looking to expand my stardew valley map , what do you guys suggest ? i already got ridgeside, eastscarp, aquarium, mermaid island and walk to the desert redux
so in theory, they should only have two... but it's possible the old child is still in the code

Since I haven't responded to yours yet spagbowl, I think this link might have something related to your problem, but might not. Either way, I think at this point you'd have to check the Event Viewer, and once it gets to that point I generally nope out of things because I am not an expert. View the solutions here, and if they don't work, you'll have to wait for someone with more expertise

srsly, i've had Atra's interaction tweaks from the beginning when all it did was stop you pulling rugs out from under things and removing stuff from tables.
then it saved my game when I didn't even realize it was broken.

If we run into the Child-Named-After-Custom-NPC thing again, Lemur suggests installing Atra's Interaction Tweaks, which may be enough to save the child.

prior to atra's fix, the only way to salvage your game/child was to remove the mod with the NPC in it and then dove the child
Which would reset all the relationships for people in that mod, and events, and.... yikes
I'm pretty sure btw Elizabeth that it only started fairly recently, as the sheer number we've seen indicates if it had been an issue prior then we'd have seen it more.

what if i delete all the xnb files and then verify the game

i think Robin's recipes show a few at first... then one at a time. you buy the only recipe she's selling, but when you click to open her shop again after purchasing another one should be there

Okay, so I figured out the problem
I had to launch it in vanilla, make it non-fullscreen, make it fullscreen, then back to windowed fullscreen, exit
and launch and it works
I remembered it did that to me around the first month I played

basically it bugged out launching in wrong screen with mods 
so vanilla -> windowed -> drag to main screen -> fullscreen -> windowed fullscreen (if you like using that) boom done 😎
then just launched modded version and all good
as long as it works it's all good! (i should have probably suggested to delete the startup_preferences file in hindsight)

ZaneYork, the developer of Android SMAPI, has said he will work on it when he has time. Here with a classic problem, haven't modded my playthrough in a while and I'm playing with east scarp and Ridgeville. Trying to access an event but I can't figure out how to upgrade my farm house twice. Robin's only letting me renovate my house
if robin is already offering renovations, you already upgraded your farmhouse
See that's what I'm saying, I thought I did all my upgrades for base game, but my event lookup is telling me I haven't done it yet
it's possible that the event isn't correctly coded (?) id go to either the rsv or es server and ask there

So... I downloaded SMAPI for Linux, have libssl1.1 installed, extracted the .zip file, opened Linux.sh and run the command through the terminal and...it says that there is no path, what should i do? there are no new folders in the steam folder too

just executing that chmod command in the terminal while it is opened in that folder (in the same way that you executed the install script probably)
or if there is some gui way to change the permissions on the folders/files that would work too, since it's probably a permission issue
I opened linux.sh and then LibreOffice opened and i just typed it into the terminal as root
you probably shouldn't do that. but i think someone else has to help you, i need to go for a while

That should work for multiplayer but if not you can use unique children

A friend of mine is getting those DLL errors, does someone know what it might be? It's the 2nd time this happens (it was working fine yesterday), out of the 4 of us he is the only one with those issues. Both times this happened, he was unable to delete some of the mods bc their files were "corrupted or unreadable".

Modded my wife's game with some visual mods and it's been great but now suddenly it fades to black when she goes to sleep and never continues. SMAPI log shows the same error looping infinitely until we end task on the game. Google only reveals 3 other people with this error message and none of them were able to get any help. Couple of questions about Margo modules. We are looking into adding the Rings module into an existing multiplayer save.
Do we have to back up anything else besides the host's save? Just to be safe in case it breaks.

Hey there friends, just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to help lag and long loading times. I've set Stardew as high priority in task manager which helped a bit. I've ensured all my mods are up to date as well
are you using big expac mods like SVE, or a framework like PYTK? pytk in particular causes some long load times
I unfortunately have many expansions, SVE, Ridgeside Village, Durin's Rest, East Scarp, and Adventurers Guild Expanded. I do have PYTK also. Is there a fix for it?
for PYTK in particular its seeing if there are alternatives (or updated versions) for the mods that use it. I think quite a few of the mods that used to rely on PYTK have updated to not need it anymore
as for the expacs thats probably going to add a lot of loading time but I'm not 100% sure as I dont use the expacs myself, someone else will have to chime in on that aspect

I thiiiiink the expacs themselves dont use pytk? you can go to the pytk page on nexus and see under requirements which mods use it and see if any of the ones you use are on there. Also vortex, I dont know but I think a lot of people actually dont download with vortex? someone clarify that for me also

typically you'd manually download and unzip it into the mods folder, wherever your stardew file is on your pc and then smapi just reads it from there. I play on steam so mine is here

For the Farm Cave Framework.. are you supposed to have only one FCF pack installed at a time?
I figured since you can choose one at a time it wouldn't matter. Been having an ongoing issue w Empty farm cave (+ SVR3's railroad cave).
I had FCF Pagan Bunnies and Lumi's FCF Artifacts. Selected Artifacts cave thru Demetrius dialog in game. Nothing has spawned for days. (Not sure if SVR3 RR cave is related or not)
Deleted Pagan Bunnies. Debug ebi'd the event and chose artifacts again. Still nothing.
My last log w a patch summary showed that my farmcave was set to Bats (idk if that's normal or if it should say Artifacts)

It should fix itself in the proceeding days and not happen often, but I'd still recommend installing Custom Spouse Patio Redux and putting her spouse patio near an impassable object like a fence that's part of the farm (rather than player-made)

Evening all. I have been running Stardew Valley expanded for the last week no problems.
However, when i load the game via steam as always, now it sits at loading Stardew Valley Expanded Mod in the console window.
Task manager seems to suggest that its not doing a whole lot. It is still responding, but not loading.
I have no idea why.

ahhhh you've run afoul of the "multiple copies of the mod" thing
So here's the deal. In your mod folder, not your SVE folder in the mod folder (don't touch the Stardew Valley Expanded folder), delete [STF] Stardew Valley Expanded, [FTM] Stardew Valley Expanded, [SAAT] Stardew Valley Expanded, [CP] Stardew Valley Expanded, and [CP] Canon Friendly Dialogue Expansion
if you do all of that, your SVE will load (because there won't be duplicates), as will Canon Friendly and Seasonal Cute SVE. (You'll need to install Alternative Textures to get rid of the last error.)

Hoo boy okay I've backread and we have several misconceptions to correct

First, get out of SMAPI's internal folder, you're running the batch file to install SMAPI. you shouldn't need to be in there unless your installer fails to even load, and yours is loading
Second, we need to find your Stardew. You said you had it on Steam, so right click SDV in Steam, hover over manage, then hit browse local files
then take a screenshot of what you get. We'll start there.

Farm cave forage is sporadic and unpredictable

The SVR3 rr cave should have ore nodes every day though. And slimes in it. It's barren

Im using sve , ridgeside and scarp but the fish from ridgeside arent showing up

I just got a log w the info I need hopefully. I think it showed that the RR Cave was not being applied for some reason (none given) - it has 2/3 X's

like this is the Loads
Load basically means, delete what the game had and put this in instead
It creates...problems if there's something the game expected but no longer is there, so it's the least compatible form of CP patch
EditData, EditImage, and EditMap all allow for peaceful coexistence and really focused, surgical edits
so would any of those Edits be like a "soft Load" and work for the mod?

Speaking of Ftm, does anyone know of a reason on why suddenly an Ftm json would just get corrupted randomly?
this is my other mystery. Why are the baby sprites showing as four creatures instead of one.
I think it might be becasue of the png sizes.. but i'm not sure how to fix it
Like all of my ftm jsons would suddenly turn into Nullnullnullnull and I'd only notice it when smapi warns me with it not being valid. 
baby is 64x112 and adult is 128x160
FTM...kinda does that, probably something to do with shutting down unexpectedly when editing those jsons

if i.. made the baby sprites png the same size as the adult, would that fix it? more negative space or something

i had that issue with Dino Ranching Overhaul but it was fixed by basically getting rid of baby stage. that was not BFAV but the game dinos though.

Looks like a map problem
like, it only happens when i leave my farm
then everything dissapears
only the map background remains
only roads and "grass"
no fences, no bush
no trees

But your error specifically is caused by Boarding house
or at the very least is complicated by it
right before the Z_town - which would be a tilesheet anyway

Since Boarding House patches the Bus Stop, I have to assume that Boarding House's patch without the tilesheet breaks the BusStop map
And once it does, that map can't be walked on without a crash since it can't draw the map patch
weird, cuz i've actually been to boarding house
like, the crash only started happening when the season changed
probably means they had a tilesheet that only works on one season for some reason
i started a new save recently, to enjoy all of these mods from start
so i played all spring
......which means it's probably a frickin' bug with boarding house that I'll encounter. Well, thanks for letting me know not to play to summer right now XD
and now its summer, then it started crashing
i'm gonna remove it, and let you know if it gets fixed
plus, i'm going to remove plato and seed bag for now
hope it gets fixed in the next update
what they need to do is just use the town tilesheet rather than Z_town tbh
it's gonna mean recolors can't touch the BH edit
Delete the spring_outdoorsTileSheet out of that mod
It’s common for people to edit with spring
This is what happens when you accidentally include one season but not all seasons
Thus also common for summer to be the first time this happens
i know it doesnt have anything to do with moon mis, but what was it mentioned in the crash??

where would i look for the "smapi path" , its for the stardrop program & i'm not bright and don't know where the smapi path its looking for would be in my files
So - unless atra or elizabeth want to accurately explain, what I basically see it as is you're breaking an arm. Blood vessels and bone and such flow through the arm, so if you whack it, your body's gonna go "fault at arm" and also output what stuff goes to the arm
Moon Misadventures is only listed because it's something that goes through the "arm"
in your steam folder
it's not breaking, it's just the thing outputting an error a bunch because things broke

if you never got a quest thing, green slime deaths wouldn't count
i dont know how to get it

maybe it glitched bc i skipped his scene

besides removing plato and some other incompatible stuff
i deleted spring_outdoorsTileSheet and now its working again

I have a lot of mods downloaded and when I tested loading the save that I had for the to mods on be on with actual game progress it doesn't load and boots me to the starting screen
