Hi, I'm playing a modded run with some friends in multiplayer. However, I've been suffering with terrible lag problems when I was playing until the point that I got stuck in infinite loading screens whenever I tried changing areas. Things got worse and now I cannot join the match since I get stuck in the initial loading screen and it never ends loading. The other day I spent like 4 hours loading and nothing happened. The only way I can play one day is unistalling Stardew and the mods we're using and reinstalling them both again. I say one day because when we are trying to sleep in order to get to the next day, we all get stuck in a black screen until I close the game (sometimes I see 4/4 players but they all see 3/4 and we get stuck there). After that, the problem persists and I'm unable to rejoin the multiplayer session.

Hi, I'm just now trying to install mods for SV for the first time and I went to Nexus Mod and installed SMAPI per instructions, but when I try to install anything else, it says SMAPI is missing. I'm not sure what to do, this is my first experience with mods on this game ever. I tried launching the game and it didn't seem to load anything different than it usually does.
For reference - I'm on PC using steam
ok, first off Nexus has no idea what you do and don't have, it just gives reminders
secondly, you probably didn't set launch options

If you're using Steam or GOG on Windows, you will need to set your launch options in order for Steam/GOG to automatically launch with SMAPI. The SMAPI installer will tell you what to set as the launch options when it completes (green text). Is this in the properties folder on Steam? I took the install location from SMAPI and pasted it into the launcher options if that's what you mean

I right click stardew in Steam, I choose "Properties", I go to General, I paste the string into the Launch Options

So I try to install something on Nexus by clicking Manual fo rthe download, and it loads for a bit then gives me a "the content could not be loaded" error that hyperlinks to SMAPI

Is it a usual bug when a spouse dissappears. Happens sometimes when going to bed at sleeping time. Mod I use is Free love and married with Sophia(SVE), Abigail, and Haley. Sometimes they appear on a wall or out of bounds. I married them using Multiple spouse mod but then switched to free love mod. They glitchy when asleep together in a single spot on a double bed. And sometimes i spawn on a different bed that i placed inside the house (i have 3 beds placed inside house all). Do i have to divorce and remarry all of em to fix the glitches?

Ok so I recently downloaded Kaya's more goldfish mod and am trying to get the flapjack octopus. Also have visible fish and am not seeing it in the ocean. Then I noticed that I'm getting a page full of red errors on smapi so I'm posting the log here to see if anyone can tell me what's up.

we fixed the mismatched content packs, i had an outfit pack she didnt have but she downloaded it and it still didnt work
also the coding i need to put into smapi for the marnie content, as you told me prior, do i wait to input that after i load the game?
Yes. The SMAPI window is the console.
Delete a folder named assets from inside Mods folder for both of you

i think it was because i was trying to add that text before the game loaded into a save 😅

But yes: For such things the save needs to be loaded completely.
So the only one we haven't tried is making another instance of the game and closing the old one. Everything else we've tried
It's an old mod and the author forgot to make main folder fot the mod. You can make a folder named Natural Clock (inside Mods folder) then unzip/extract the zip file into that folder. That should fix natural clock not detected. As for mp problem, try link !mphelp link above

specific question, here. i get a lot of loose mods, and especially ones that just give me a png file. if i'm given a png file for spring objects, what do i do? i pasted it in the content-maps and it didn't work. am i a goose? (i dont know how to merge!)
so, that kind of thing requires a lot more work on your end

you have several choices:
- write a content patcher mod for the png
- dump it into a different content patcher mod that already exists
- make it into a different kind of mod

okay so, two things to note. one is that the blue package mod is trying to overwrite some of the buildings as well
and the second is that apparently in that the yellog buildings mod it cannot find the grass asset
like a hundred of them change one thing lol
the food png you'd also need to write content patcher files for
but what does grass have to do with the chicken coop bulding
you can sort your log to show the errors only and you can see those two errors at the bottom

it might not be, but if it fails to load something the textures might get reset

there's an option to have the buildings without the grass if you want that
on yellog's blog she has two downloads, one with grass and one without
so try redownloading and deleting the blue package mod that's conflicting with it

i have so many json assets mods that add crops and stuff,tons of alternative textures mods which change how things look, and tons of fashion sense mods which add clothing lol

and redownload so that they don't get the grass error
or just download the version without the grass if they don't want it

basically, i don't have any HD portraits for those specific characters. and the slightly cuter characters issue is that i deleted the farmer assets but want to keep the villager assets/sprites
i just refuse to touch it because i spent 400 hours trying to download these sleeves

Yes, because you don't just simply delete pngs for things you don't want to use. 
You remember the thing you did before with the cat? You told the game "use x png instead of y png" in the content.json.
If you remove x png you get exactly those errors.

If so: Same as for npcs: content.json and remove the part for the farmer (backup first).
And for the xnb: If you no longer need it restore it to vanilla.

If not: You want that. Allows you to change lots of configs from the main menu instead of config.json edits. 😉
GMCM is not a hard requirement for lots of mods which is why you might not have come across it.

I wasn't 100% sure if there is really 0 mod setting it as hard requirement. 
there is 0 besides the one mentioned, it just edits configs for you
Go into your house (shed, greenhouse, whatever but no coop or barn), leave it after 8 in the evening (wait 10 ingame minutes). The game should have moved them inside their home.
on the sleeves/slightly cuter fear/issues... months and months ago, someone helped me download sleeves/sprites and i simply HAVE NOT touched it. i have no idea how to redownload sleeves, where they are from... they are just THERE

Yes, but they not always find their way back. And to give them a bit of time 8 in the evening is usually a good time to do the "Game... be so nice and move them". Trying it around 5-6 doesn't always work. 🤷♀️

Not necessarily after 8. If an animal doesn't automatically go back, just go inside house or outside farm. The animal will be inside after you get back to farm

You can check your gamefolder if an xnb has any "unusual" date that doesn't look like installation date. 🤷♀️

Yes. You can toggle it on / off for each building.

I had no issues with the Japanese buildings in that regard. But doesn't mean it's the same for the yellog ones.

When you're done solving the issues (sleeves, portrait etc): Load your save and check if the error message for your save is still there. I don't know if it's an issue or not but red in regards to savegames is probably never good.

Check in the gmcm if you've the shadows for the coop enabled / disabled in Greenhouse Entry Begone (if it was the coop). You can enable / disable it for each building.

In short: You don't have to edit the config.jsons and can just do it ingame (bottom left when in the main menu). Some things can also be done after loading the save (below the screenshot button).

as far as I remember I have a museum expansion that has an npc called Charlie, SVE and the seasonal recolors
something isn't replacing this bit of the museum lol it might be an oversight but i'd expect it to have come up with someone else too at this point
it's b/c she's using Flower Valley I think but the Museum expansion mod also changes the building

I ran into the same issue b/c I merged the facade from Foliage Redone's museum with VPR... and was trying to use that museum expansion mod too and while it wasn't as dramatic as Siri's issue, it still was a muddled mess so I uninstalled the expansion mod lol

i started using mods for the first time and i mostly wanted recolours and quality of life changes no big changes.
so i got earthy recolours (nexus) it works great but my building didn’t change only my map anyone know why?
Earthy recolor doesn't change building, only recoloring to match the tone i guess. You need something like elle's building mod to change that

Is it a usual bug when a spouse dissappears. Happens sometimes when going to bed at sleeping time. Mod I use is Free love and married with Sophia(SVE), Abigail, and Haley. Sometimes they appear on a wall or out of bounds. I married them using Multiple spouse mod but then switched to free love mod. They glitchy when asleep together in a single spot on a double bed. And sometimes i spawn on a different bed that i placed inside the house (i have 3 beds placed inside house all). Do i have to divorce and remarry all of em to fix the glitches?
On the mods that mentioned objects but none of them are manifest.json what does that mean? I fixed the sprinkler thing but idk how to fix this

For smapi, download new version and run the installer again. For mods, download newest version and install by deleting old mod first

yea the orangepie persons version but none of their portrait mods work. theres always something about the manifest json or files being empty but i checked the files and theyre not empty and everything is enabled

The that you need to delete? Just content and object folder. Those are loose file that needs to be inside a main folder (sometimes named [JA] something)
The only one with the JA is the Fantasy Crops
Should be good. But that's why vortex isn't recommended for modding sdv as it work differently with manual installed mods
Reinstall all ja assets you install, and also after that can you screnshot your Mods folder just to be sure everything is in right place
I've just been using vortex because it does most the work for you, i've just been afraid to tamper with the wrong file and screw up my game. But ill try manually putting the downloaded file in there and see if it works

Make a new log. Your log will change after you delete those files and run the game again

its still giving me the manifest json error, but thats cause i ran it through vortex. i think if i want it to work ill have to run it not through vortex. but before i do that im going to have to move all my mods out of the vortex file and into the stardew valley mods folder

stardew modding is drag and drop. if you put them all in the Mods/ folder it should work. it looks like vortex has all the folders like one level deep i think though? are there folders inside of those folders?

i’m on my phone and it looked like the folders had the numbers after them like when you download the compressed file from nexus
some of them when i open them have another folder named assets
I also noticed on vortex that i can open the game mods folder which shows some mods that are just in the stardew valley folder, but then theres a mod staging folder where all the files are in vortex. I think some of the mods are already are where they are supposed to be but not all of them are there. All of them are in the vortex staging folder though

There was a piece of code I needed to put into my steam pathway so It could run mods install of vanilla and I cant find it anywhere

Open steam library, right click sdv, properties. There should be launch option on bottom. If you did it correctly the game should launch with smapi console too

Can you explain the issue?
My game freezes whenever I load my existing save file. It freezes on the black screen right before I leave my bed.
The game works when I create a new save file but when I quit and load it, it freezes again.
You need to wait, the game freeze but still loading
As you installed a bunch of mods, especially on mobile
I already waited for about 15 mins.
This is the only mod I had a problem with so far.
A shame though but I think I'll pass up on Vanilla Tweaks.
Try disable pytk (rename pytk mod folder by adding . on the front). But any other mod that relies on pytk will be disabled by smapi

i'm back for my daily bug of the poor innocent people who know how to mod, here! i have stardew foliage redones map, and the bus is automatically redone with a sky/clouds texture... but i can't override it with another bus recolour. how do i do this?

I just checked but foliage redone includes the tilesheets. I was hoping it just changes parts of them. 
Which one you want to use for the bus? Maybe more luck on that one.

Ok. You can do what my initial thought was: Rename [CP] Cat Bus to [CP] zCat Bus.
The game loads mods in "alphabetical order". If you add the z it will be loaded after [CP] Stardew Foliage Redone - foliage only.

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. In order to change the load order of mods, you can add false dependencies, see here for details: https://stardewmodding.miraheze.org/wiki/Tutorial:_How_to_Add_a_False_Dependency_for_Load_Orders

Most likely. If it's patches they are supposed to be load after the mods they patch.
