Drive full = harder for drive to do stuff. Think of it like having something try to lift a 200 pound weight and they can do it with difficulty
Now imagine you put an extra 20 pounds on it

So. First thing to know. When you download a mod, it's in that zipped folder.

Always extract. Putting the zip in the mods folder won't do anything.

So for example, if I download "Automate" from Nexus, it'll be in a zip. If it's in a rar or 7z, don't bother with that mod for now
When you get said zip. You unzip it. Since you aren't changing the target of where it's unzipping, it'll unzip to downloads again in a normal folder
When you see the normal folder, drag it into the mods folder.
The mods folder you should have seen earlier.
(Local files of Stardew. Which is why I told you not to skip steps earlier)
If you do that, SMAPI should recognize the mod in game, unless you're downloading an old mod which no longer works.
So I do have to ask.

yeah configurable luck should load correctly, although you'll want GMCM to configure it.

The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

the actual installation of the mods in stardew valley themselves is very simple i have no idea how it works for other games
a lot of other games require file overwriting
and in general mods aren't very compatible with each other

all I've been doing is trying to figure out solstice compat
Does anyone have experience with adding custom artisan machines to the walk of life mod? i'm trying to add upgraded kegs (copper, iron, gold, etc) to the config but it spits out "invalid json" errors

in my experience the json won't save the upgraded kegs added anyways, the author said they would fix it next update

the thing is, i tested it with the machines that are already added in the config - and those work just fine
just any addition in lines to the config seems to screw it up
let me try and remove one of the PPJA ones and replace it with one of the kegs
well. now it doesn't throw out a json error, so it's running, but still no bonus getting applied to the custom machine. lol

hello. i'm trying to play modded with some friends who got stardew valley from the game pass but when they try to join co-op it says that "You must be signed in to play multiplayer". is there any fix to this issue?

Following the steps on the wiki, I made a copy of the API file and renamed that and tht was when it wasnt working. All I actually changed was that the actually API file i renamed to Stardew Valley before making a copy to use as a shortcut. I was playing on my modded file last night and my power cut out shutting everything off on my computer, but when i tried to play today my save file didnt come up i tried to look for the save backup and it is now gone aswell, the whole save file is gone and when i tried to load smapi it came up with this, Is anyone able to help? (btw immersive was the name of the farm)

You checked Steam\SteamApps\Common\Stardew Valley\save-backups? assuming you're using Steam version, path would differ for other versions

i found an older veersion that is lik 8 ingame days behind so ill just use that i guess
So the save-backups are still there?
And yes: Those can be several days old because as far as I know they're only done once per real life day.
with the save thing, there should always be two saves
in the saves folder that is
The first is the farm, the second is the _old farm which is one day in game prior
if you delete the current ones and rename the _old ones to not have _old, it should work.

You can make an additional short cut on the desktop for multiplayer. There was a command for how to set it up (if you're interested).

Is there a way to reset NPC locations during the day if they've bugged out? Gus is currently missing and it's his birthday in-game, so I really want to give him a gift...
I dont know about resetting but try first to make sure that his icon isnt being collapsed into another one
(i.e he is standing next to Emily, so Emilys portrait will show)
if you hover over all portraits and still dont see him then I might try looking into other things then
I can't see his full body sprite anywhere on the map.
Penny also walked through some solid objects earlier during the day, so I think Gus is out of bounds.
I still have no idea which mod is causing it either, because none of them should be affecting anyone's schedules.
Emily is also walking around the bar, so if Gus was stuck inside her I think I'd see him by now.

The updated version of "Save anywhere" (if that's the one we're talking about) has a huge "It doesn't work" by the mod author. Hence why I wouldn't use it.

You should use neither that one nor the updated one.
Can you be lucky and an unsupported mod works for a long time without trouble? Yes. But one day you might be unlucky. That's not only for SDV but in general that such mods can cause a lot of trouble that might not be seen on day 1.
I don't know how it works but do you have the save from the beginning of the day and maybe could try restarting there? 
Great, there goes my way of not having to replay bits of the day before festivals if I want to restart the festival. 😔

I understand your wish to create an additional save every now and then but games that work with "save once a day" aren't good with mods changing that behavior. 
I mean, I can't say that surprises me, but it also is frustrating when I want to shut down the system I'm playing on and I'm not just done with a day.

I think (it's a huge "I think and I never did it") you can use console commands in the chat window too? I guess that's what they meant with "chat commands".

I just copied my mods folder from PC over to my Steam Deck.
Seemed like the easiest way to get it up and running.
Test mods on PC, then just copy them over if they do.

I meant that, yes.
But even if it messes up the NPCs more, it will not do lasting damage, as far as I've seen.
(This save file also isn't very old, so I'm not particularly hung up about losing it as I'm in Summer 1.)
I'm not an expert that's why I can't say for sure what the best to do would be. What I personally would do (no guarantees): End the day by going to bed (Gus not getting a present), hoping all NPCs are fine the next day and remove the save anywhere mod. 
I mean, that's what I plan to do as it's easier to just suspend my Steam Deck.
My PC I do nooooot like to keep running overnight if I can help it, so that's more my use case for Save Anywhere.
If you don't care about your save game: Save, install the mod, try the command and see if it fixes the issue and if you can give Gus his present. But There's no guarantee that you'll find Gus the day in both cases I guess.
(That and aforementioned festival day saving, because I hate having to wait for the festival to start if I want to e.g. redo the egg hunt.)
I don't like mine running the night either and that's why I just quit and start the day again the next day. 😅
To be honest, I often just use it for that.

The screenshot is a somewhat generic error saying that something is in the wrong format, which is probably either related to the thing you noticed with 3 mods trying to add an asset, or is a mod conflict of some sort

sometimes SMAPI tells you line X position Y and it's workable. this is just a little frustrating
A bunch of the errors are in BFAV itself, so if you can't fix the errors we might have to test more
BFAV is...in a bit of a state these days

Quick question: Gus's menu now has an error item that is constantly in his shop menu now. I'm not getting any red text or anything, and I don't think I've added in anything recently that should be affecting his menu. IT doesn't do anything as long as I don't touch it, though.

Which is another reason why direct game edits aren't "a good choice": Steam likes to remove those because it thinks you've a broken game. 
XNB mods often break the game and are not recommended. Although @royal wraith if you're not sure in that regard: SMAPI will give you a warning if it detects such files as far as I know.

If you're using Steam or GOG on Windows, you will need to set your launch options in order for Steam/GOG to automatically launch with SMAPI. I don't know what's causing your specific issue but FeTK and Tool Upgrade Delivery Service are outdated. You should instead use Mail Framework Mod and Mail Services Mod (both available on nexus) for that same functionality

I seem to have an issue with my saves any time I try to go to sleep before it’s the evening, and every time I’m usually alright with losing that half day of progress, but does anyone have any idea why it breaks? I looked up the whole thing and it looks like the save file itself is corrupted as it stops before the /savegame (or whatever the command is, I don’t remember)

Save corruption often happens when you quit mid-save process
quit or your computer crashes, that is
it sometimes also happens randomly
SMAPI keeps backups and you can get even more with Advanced Save Backup
That's the problem: We're talking not about one save, but multiple. Either you did very strange things several times (i.e. pc crash). Or something else is wrong.
As far as I know, it only ever happened when I quit after a save earlier in the day, but also it always said that it was successfully saved so….

Make a backup of the SMAPI saves before you start playing. SMAPI saves on its own "once per real life day". So you might backup those before you start playing to have some "spares".
I personally would still check the installation but I can see why you're not a fan of it.

Event Lookup says I've seen it already. When I try to replay it via "reminisce" it simply does not load.

Generally I’m not as worried when I play with mods because I have save backup and advanced save backup
I switched to offline mode but still got the unable to sync steam cloud message. It just was worded pretty scarily with 'could lose data and be unable to recover it'
Disable the cloud. 
You can do this only for SDV or in general.
Unless you play on 2 pcs or are worried about loosing data on your hdd you can just backup the saves manual.

Steam cloud has it's advantages if you use 2 pcs and it stores your saves in case you delete them by accident. But it can also cause trouble (i.e. like for you right now).

Create it inside the main mods folder. You can name it whatever you want. The important point is the dot at the beginning.
Folders starting with a dot are ignored by SMAPI.

Depending on where it was: If it was in an SVE area I would probably move Ridgeside and its additions first.
Just make sure that the dependencies (i.e. Json Assets) stay in the regular folder. If another mod needs those too.

Start the game. Check if the problem is solved.
If not: Choose another "group" and move it.

It would be faster to "move half, check the other half", but as you're searching for a possible conflict the "not too many at once" might be the better choice.
And I see that you use Save Anywhere. 
It has nothing to do with your current issue but you might reconsider that one.
Even the updated version of Save Anywhere states "It doesn't work anymore".

SDV saves once per day and I understand it can be "inconvenient", but there was a discussion about it like 1 or 2 days ago (sorry, bad memory) that it might not be worth it.
I doubt it's causing the rain issue. I just would remove it in general.
In the other case there were issues with NPCs I think? I probably need sleep.

When you found the group with the mod causing the issue: Narrow down the group, put the "suspect" aside and then move the others from the disabled folder back to the main folder and check if it works. And yes: It would be easier if SMAPI would give you some red as a hint. 
I understand that you would prefer to game and that this is currently the "no fun"-part of modding. But such things can happen. And I'll no go and get some sleep. keyboard isn't a good pillow

Hey @scarlet quail ! So finally got a chance to load up the game w new edited Toshi map.. and it disappeared from the hospital :/
I checked thru the files to make sure all the references were correct. I think the issue is his special Toshi hospital bed... Tiled says it needs the tsx back (town interior tsx)
So did I undo everything I just did the other night?
I put it back cuz he needs his room xc
Tho this was just for a special hospital bed code, not the whole room. I guess I could get rid of that part possibly.
The one we did the other night was not for the bed one
it was for the hospital itself. You'll need to embed the tilesheets in the other map too

yes, you copied them into the folder, then you should have moved the Toshi folder into your mods folder
The toshi folder should not somehow be able to be using the content unpacked's version of towninterior
That's what directory climbing is in this instance because it's trying to look up for the tilesheet
Tilesheets can only be found at or down.
(i.e. in same folder or in subfolder)
If you somehow still get it detected, delete Content (unpacked) entirely and tell me what you get in SMAPI

how do i make a dialogue mod load after another dialogue mod so that it appears in game? Like I have download canon friendly dialogue and immersive saloon but I want immersive saloon's dialogue to have priority in appearing. Also, does ridgeside mod affect what vanilla characters say in general dialogue (not cutscenes) bc if it does, then I would also like ridgeside to have priory over CFD ❤️ tysm

oh wait i opened the smapi for my modded game and in the smapi code, CFD does come first and everything else comes after so does that mean it worked? I could send my log over if that would be more help 🙂 tysm btw
well, if you added the dependency it probably worked. it could be that CFD comes naturally before the other mod and the patching order could change later, but if CFD always comes first on the log it should be fine. i can check the manifest though if you upload it to smapi.io/json and link it here (and no problem!)

actually the dependency should be added to the manifest.json file of the other mod that you want to come after CFD (i.e. add the uniqueid gizzymo.canonfriendlyexpansion to the Dependencies field in the manifest.json file of the immersive saloon mod). i could probably do it now too if you upload and link the manifest file of the immersive saloon mod

I'll get a parse log up tomorrow so I gotta this is just whining right now, but I'm wondering if there's some known issues with a couple mods (or, alternatively, if I'm that much of a doofus). Entoarox Modding Utilities keeps throwing an exception and I have no idea what's up with it. Lumisteria More Pickled Products apparently has no output and a couple mods don't seem to recognize farmer to florist. I've done a clean install with all of them and it didn't make a difference.
Also I must be missing a mod or sometime and I can't figure out what it is. I get error text saying that SMAPI doesn't know what a bunch of drinks are (English rose, hibiscus, etc). I'm pretty sure I have all the stuff installed so 🤷🏼 IDKM

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

for me its an issue of not being able to find the proper corresponding mods bc people havent updated them, and it resulting in me being unable to access my worlds 
it sounds like you downloaded the strict version by mistake
i can check but it just says most of the mods i rely on are out of date now (ex pytk , SVE, ridgeside,)
