Don't know how relevant it is but the controller in question is a PS4 controller.
I've not, no. Just assumed it wouldn't work well considering some mods add keybinds.
I've never used a controller before, so I'm not familiar with the details, but I assume it would work for the inputs it normally works for
For keybinds you might need a workaround or the gameplay might get clumsier

I mean, SMAPI automatically keeps backups unless you tossed the Save Backup Mod that comes with SMAPI
(Which is why you never toss the default mods)

But you have it so your SMAPI keeps them near it
Anyway, that just seems like a corrupted file or something, but perhaps someone with more coding experience can check. In the meantime though
Go to your saves, remove the _old from the old save file/savegameinfo (and delete the current ones), then load the game

Hi, i'm having a bit of a problem, smapi cant see whether mods need updating. I thought it might be an issue with my out of date SMAPI so I updated it but it still says it can't check. Any ideas?
SMAPI does not auto-check mods needing updating if they don't have updates to them
i.e. if you have the up to date version, you won't get purple text
if you don't, you will
it said this WARN SMAPI Couldn't check for a new version of SMAPI. This won't affect your game, but you won't be notified of new versions if this keeps happening.

The DGA version doesn’t really work anyway. The JA version is also a tad buggy but less so/in a more fixable way than the DGA version lol
Can someone please help me mod Stardew? I'm trying to get the tractor mod and when I launch the game from StardewModdingAPI it says it loaded the mods but I think there's supposed to be a mod configuration part in settings but it's not there.

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Hi! I am here to ask for help, so my game yesterday was running well, everything fine, but today I opened it and it just wonr load, after like 10 mins of waiting it stays like this and opens the game, but when i click on load it crashes with no error

Actually, looks like I fixed it.
so that thing with items transforming into other items is a known cf issue for specific indexes matching specific craftables. they turned into signs, so its indexes 37, 38, 39 that were evil. did a stopgap fix by cutting those items out into a different spritesheet.

the unplaceable item was fixed the same way. index 264. matches a heavy tapper, so understandable why it wasnt placeable on the ground - its not a tree.

Did you install the requirement of all that mods? You need to download CustomNPCFixes, CustomMusic, CustomGiftDialogue, TMXL Map Toolkit, PyTK, Mail Framework Assets, and SAAT as requirement for the mods.
All of the errors are related to missing dependencies. Check you have all the proper dependencies installed, and next time upload your full log file, as it's easier for us to parse.

Hi everyone, my friend recently bought Stardew off GOG Galaxy and is having trouble installing Smapi for it. We've tried using the StardewWiki guide but have still had no luck. Can anyone help?

The mods folder won't show up in the game folder, neither will the StardewModdingAPI.exe application
Only the content folder and original game application show up

1.6 should report the render pass meaning that there might be enough context available for me to correlate draws across frames.

We followed that guide exactly but it didnt seem to work
She pasted start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" into notepad and saved it as start.bat
then we followed how to put it into the GOG Galaxy application but it still didnt seem to work

no it's not showing up at all. and no we haven't tried reinstalling it yet as we wanted to see if there was something we were missing before we tried

when you install smapi, check the game path shown in smapi installer if it is correct

the 1st question after launch the installer is game path. check number 1 if it is correct game path, if not press 2
Hey, is the DGA or JA version of the PPJA packs preferred at this point? I recall the DGA conversion got off to a bumpy start but that was a while ago, and I'm not sure which to use.

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.
Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.
Yeah that one was posted a year ago, it worked fine for me cause I installed it on steam but my friend obviously used GOG which is a lot harder and theres no tutorials for it other than the wiki

since my log was disgustingly and horrifically long i just redid the log without the thing that was causing so many like error messages
i checked, it wasnt the cause of the issue
and i only regain stamina when i fish, after ive casted
i lose the stamina from casting but then it starts to regenerate

those are all the different farm types it 'can' replace and not what it will

You have SMAPI version 3.13.2, the latest version is 3.17.2, which is what some of those mods need thus why they cannot be loaded
Vortex? We don't really recommend using Vortex for Stardew modding as, as you can, it messes up quite a bit
Are you installing SMAPI from Vortex itself or outside?
Is there another mod manager? Because I can't really do much without having it managed due to my dyslexia. From Vortex, as in, downloaded from Nexus using Vortex as the mod manager.

Looks a lot like a tilesheet but I can't find any other reference to that (including searching all of RSV and SVE). where would zzzzz_spouse_patio_townInterior come from?

+@round mural There's a load conflict for the greenhouse map. Just to make sure, can you remove one of those mods and see if it still happens?
Multiple mods want to provide the 'Buildings/Greenhouse' asset: Content Patcher (for the '(CP) Seasonal Japanese Buildings' content pack), Greenhouse Sprinklers.
The one i'm using to test is the Sam 2 heart event where you choose the music type. I thought it was the drummerfarmer mod, but it didn't make a difference. It happens with some others as well, modded and not.
I'm wondering if i shouldn't just do a reinstall in small groups to narrow it down, though it looks like a game error

Reinstall the main SVE file
somehow you only managed to get the Content Patcher portion of it and not the rest of it, so redownload and reinstall it

This was incorrect, at least for the host. As host I was able to change textures for myself with the paint bucket which also changed for my connected player. Not a bad thing to be wrong about, but I figured it was worth letting you know :)

It's software thing, might be a help. Bug lag can be caused by hardware too. So, there's a lot of factor behind a lag

I like using the perfection tracker online tool, the checkup app for stuff. For some reason my when I input my save file, it isn't able to check all modded items. Is there a mod to check craftable items? I'm at 98% craft master and have over 150 mods installed. Am I doomed, or is there something else I can try? Hey y’all, I’m coming from game support. So, I’ve been playing with quite a few mods (Balanced Valley, SVE, lots of aesthetic mods). I only had the ore categories turned on for Balanced Valley, but I noticed today that my ancient fruit profit (and anything in the fruit category) is super low. Everything else is the correct sell price. I removed all my mods, and I still have this problem. Could this because of Balanced Valley, even with it removed? I reset on Steam and reinstalled SMAPI, but my ancient fruit is still only selling for 95 gold (silver). 😢 I think this lines up with the Balanced Valley mod. I’ve moved the Balanced Valley mod to a totally different folder, but is that enough, or does it need to be trashed? Sorry, I’m still really new to modding!
Just move first or rename the folder to disable it so smapi won't recognize it

disable resampling if you don't like the smoothing
Spritemaster helps but sometimes it breaks mods (albeit very very rarely)

Hey all, I'm having a hard time finding any help for this atm.. My modded save is having an issue after changing a few files around. I downloaded and installed the "wittily named recolour" and since then I've been having issues with buildings not showing up as well as soime issues with not being able to pass on clear ground on Ginger Island. Ive used the smapi log parser and i have no errors appearing other than some JSON issues with what i assume is an SVE part.

Welcome! Be careful using XNB mods (the ones where you replace files under Content directly), a lot of them are outdated and cause issues like that.

a big issue is Pytk's author going MIA for months at a time
also the way the framework is currently written conflicts with a lot of stuff from SMAPI/other frameworks
I know that first thing was always an annoyance, particularly with SMAPI's API development. I am looking through PYTK's code now, mainly because it seems far easier for someone to refractor that vs hoping multiple mods get fixed. I wish I could learn more about the issues though. All I know is that some of the performance helpers don't work nicely with Pytk
pytk is on life support right now. It's gonna be dropped, since many of the things it used to be used for are being replaced with newer frameworks. The main exception for it rescaling, the only one that exists as a successor right now is only for portraits. Pytk apparently has some pretty complex code and only a few people take the time to really understand it

That said, the other option I guess is just to convert the mods that use it. Minus rescaling, other frameworks should be able to do what Pytk did if I am understanding your comment right.
Hi all, I am having a weird issue with my modded game that I have never seen before. I was playing just fine until I installed a mod, saw this issue happening, and then deleted it. Deleting the mod didn't fix it. I have two saves, and this issue is only happening with one of them. I have tried verifying game files on Steam to no avail. Launching the game with SMAPI causes the terminal output to loop endlessly, and launching without SMAPI just causes the game to crash. The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.

or does it look for an available machine, if not one available goes to shipping bin
it does collect those, at least for me

Hello all, beena bit since I played but I went to play my game yesterday and none of my mods worked. I made sure my mods on vortex were enabled but still nothing works. Any ideas? I should mention im not super tech savvy but they were wroking fine a month ago

so uh does anyone play with the DCBurger's High Res Portrait Mod (CP) and suddenly has problems with it? SMAPI says the folder for the mod is empty, which it isnt and i really dont understand what is wrong, because it always worked really good and suddenly it doesnt :((

it loads in the console, no errors, then i make a game and none of them are active its just vanilla
i had somone send me all the ones they used and worked for him but crashed my game whenever id load in

reinstall smapi, you don't have error handler
If that doesn't fix it I would try and uninstall the game and reinstall it. Then start the game once without mods and start a new save to see if the normal game works. If it does, you can step by step put in mods.

- I tired to download Unique children talk(I got spoiled from Harvest Moon DS Cute where the child did talk) but it was wasn't working so I thought it need Unique Children portrait both did not work because of the dll. So I did a little digging on here and it sound like dll is only for computer user only...?

so looking at this it doesnt like a shipped item, and its erroring out at… special order and 2 lines in game1.cs. so, did you ship anything weird? ship something you weren’t supposed to?

so i looked at the lines in game code. special order doesnt even have line 2077 LOL. but game 1.cs is pooping at mail to remove overnight as well as when it checks if its raining there? it fails after checking the gamestate as null being false. weird?

Apparently not shrug I can admit when I've screwed up. You either have to go without SVE, do what Eliza-boo said, or my only recourse when downloading moddrop files is spam clicking the download button until it works.
Nope there isn't an old file on nexus. I scroll and look. I just thought that I was the problem. And wanted to see if any mobile user had a solution or the same problem as I have.
I do hope moddrop gets better. But I have done enough struggle for the day and yesterday lol.

So I downloaded the Goldrush custom map, and was too dumb to realize that it was just loading the normal Hilltop Farm.
I don't know if I'm missing something or not.

By sleeping 3 days in a row it Deleated all of the buildings and its data
It saves every time the farm map is entered
Since I have never entered the farm map on 2 day resets. I cleared both the buildings.json and buildings_old.json
The unloaded building was saved on the first json file and pushed the file to the old one and then after the second reset the good file was then deleated
