that's odd because i just reinstalled numerous mods that aren't on this list
through stardrop like drag and drop?
because i think whats happened is that vortex is trying to take priority on NXM associations with this game...

i just redragged sve to stardrop so i'll see if it pops up
and if you have it set up to auto deploy mods on vortex instead of choosing when to deploy it could have been yoinking
on stardrop, click "Register NXM Associations" or manual download all mods for stardew valley from now on then drag and drop into stardrop when you need to install a new mod
essentially just go to the downloads folder on your pc and then drag that zipped up file into stardrop
thats the only way i see this working properly

i just tried to reinstall "npc locations" via drag and drop and it still doesn't appear in the stardrop installed folder

make sure you are on hardlink deployment then click "purge" on the mod screen then redeploy then copy ALL of the files nexus puts in the folders of the "mods" folder into the stardrop installed mods folder

then just drag and drop all that on top of the stardrop installed mods folder and if there are duplicate mods on them delete those mods from vortex. this may take a bit as its moving all the files over to the other location
you can just purge anyway though because that wont affect the staging folder

it depends on the mod whether it will work tbh and even the way i was gonna tell you to do it by opening the staging folder still would have deleted all the configs since vortex handles those differently

but if the hardlink somehow works then maybe as long as the vortex deployment file isnt there still because for some reason smapi hates those when vortex isnt the one handling them... also every folder i used to have had that 1b file named that and i had to delete all 30k of them off my pc because vortex decided it would die during deployment and ended up duplicating the links and then decided to not recognize itself as the setup that managed that stardew and it couldent clean them up
now that was hell

i love it for most games but some games just DONT work with the way vortex handles things and its algorithm can misplace things on some games because of how they are structured

Ideally, you'd want everyone to have the same mod list. Unless it's something client-side like aesthetic mods or recolors.

it isn't because i no longer need it ( i had just forgotten to disable the toolkit that wanted it)
some of your mods also looks like they have invalid Json files, try reinstalling them
i reinstalled them already and got rid of the translation errors for several mods but sve is still being finicky, and i know this error hadn't been causing lag before

Ridgeside dropped Custom music a long ago, are you overwriting the folders when you update?

in case you didn't fix it yet, the problem is probably that you have some older RSV components, so deleting everything RSV related and reinstalling it should fix it

Removing content mods during a playthrough isn’t recommended
alternating between having SVE and not having it in a save wouldn't be advisable, but just removing it from a save is probably fine as long as you delete custom items and custom quests from it before removing the mod

the Content/Data folder doesn't really do anything in the Mods folder, but it's probably an xnb replacement mod and those are generally not good to use

The issue here definitely isn't the copy of the game. It's just not following instructions correctly.

You need to navigate to the filepath contained in the link - even if it's a pirated copy, the same area will apply for saves almost assuredly - then drag the log into the white box
then hit save and parse log, then share the link in here. We'll see what mods you have and what SMAPI's saying about the stuff.
That said, Lurker - you did miss the screenshot. They already have the mods in the wrong place
(0 mods installed means SMAPI wasn't even installed correctly)

sorry a bit late but wanted to chime in and say that it didn't work for me when i pirated it as well (only for like a couple hours to see if i'd like the game, since my country's currency is not the greatest lol) and as soon as i bought from steam all my modding issues were cleared!

For like the third time, the issue here isn't the copy of the game.
- Reinstall SMAPI
- Download the mod from Nexus
- Download any required mods like Content Patcher (it'll tell you when you try to download it)
- Unzip the mods, including the required ones, into the mods folder
- Start the game
Then, if it doesn't work, post the new log, and people can go from there.

Maybe someone here has an idea what's wrong: The shortcut connecting Leah's cottage and the beach has been broken for a few in-game days now. Seems like the actual loading zone that connects them is gone, so I just walk out of bounds instead. SMAPI isn't giving out any errors though. It worked fine (irl) yesterday and then just kinda stopped working even though I didn't add or remove any mods. Anyone an idea?
Hello! I haven't been having issues at all when it comes to SVE, but just recently in-game I married the Wizard and everything has been crashing since. There were a few glitches that I didn't think were that big of a deal such as the wizard not actually sleeping, his spot on the farm missing, etc. BUT, anytime me or the other person I'm playing with walks through the middle of the farm, everything around us disappears and the game crashes. All the smapi log website suggested was that I update some outfit mods (which I had downloaded after the game started flipping so I know those aren't the cause of it, but I went ahead and updated them) Any suggestions or ideas as to why it stopped working? Sorry for the long text btw! 😭

yeah that's a pretty serious error that will need to get fixed before you can proceed I think. I've only ever encountered it when I left a tilesheet in a folder that I wasn't supposed to, but I don't think? that would be the case here. It actually sounds like the opposite is happening--ie the fact that his spouse patio is missing is the issue. I just don't know why it would be missing?
I'm assuming this is an issue that can't be fixed through deleting and redownloading?

like the spouse patio should be included in SVE, so maybe a fresh reinstall would help

I left PyTK behind about 2 or 3 saves ago mostly by moving all the CF furniture I liked from individual packs into one large CP file. But that was a time-consuming venture. Even Elizabeth's DGA conversion can be a lot for people.

So I have a question involving mods and achievements. For instance, the achievement Craft Master requires me to craft every recipe, does playing with mods mean I need to craft all the modded items as well or just the vanilla ones ?
Should be all modded items, but then again I also think it might proc on 95 crafts (the vanilla amount)

hi yall - does anyone know why a custom farmhouse would handle certain recolors but not others?
like ive noticed that blue grass recolor will work everywehre but then not in my greenhouse, which previously loaded in vibrant pastoral recolor just fine. its not a hufe deal but if its something i can fix that would be neat

I'm speaking from older experience, so don't take it as gospel...but recolors are usually a mask or overlay
i have had the same issue with that one as well! currently im using lnh's new greenhout but same issue
well the solution DL offered for hers (and maybe would work as well?) is to simply put a copy of the spring_outdoorsTileSheet from the recolor you're using into the assets folder

yeah I sort of loosely understand why it happens but not completely? I first noticed it b/c spring would be recolored correctly but none of the other seasons would be--they'd all be vanilla. And I think what it is is that some people either are using their own tilesheets entirely (like Oasis Greenhouse) or have made a greenhouse file for each seasonal tilesheet so that it pulls from the recolor correctly. But if you just do a version with the spring tilesheets then it only gets correctly colored that one season before falling back to vanilla.

Okay, I probably shouldn't have said anything, my problem's back. The loading zone between Leah's cottage and the beach doesn't exist, letting me go out of bounds (and back into bounds at the entrance to the secret woods, lol).
Other stuff I noticed: The night sky reflections from Dynamic Reflections didn't work in Cindersap Forest and the whole game crashed when I went to bed.

You can look on your log and see if there is a conflict... If one item calls for ppja.artisan valley.pfm and the version you have calls for ppja.artisan valley. Dga. Then you won't get any raspberry wine.
A slapdash jury-rig fix for it is just to put a copy of the file asked for into your works.
This is probably related to the PPJA DGA problems

Just started on modding, made a small vanilla-style pack of ~100 mods for my first playthrough of the game
It launched and worked fine looks suspiciously from the start, although I'm sure that there are at least some duplicated functionalities
Does this game even has something like mods conflicting with each order so we can see problems at first glance in the logs? (Other than maps, I mean)
Or do I have to just hope that the game won't brick in the future?

Alright guys. Here is the thing. I am planning on hosting a multiplayer game tonight, and I want to run it in vanilla. However, the save that I'm trying to play it on was built with mods. Every time I try to open the save with vanilla, the game would just close.
Thus far I have tried:
-restarting my computer
-uninstalling and reinstalling Stardew (through GOG)
-uninstalling and reinstalling SMAPI
-switching to Compatibility Mode through GOG
None of have helped
In Technical Support, Pillow mentioned something about "running it with Error Handler" and in my quest to figure out what they meant, I found an error log from earlier today that said that it couldn't locate one of my mod files (specifically, Original NPC Sorren). So I just...deleted that file.
Now my SMAPI window looks like this
It's entirely possible that I also did something else to screw it up
did you change the game to compat mode?

Okay, uninstalled then reinstalled SMAPI and switch GOG back to Disabled rather than Compatability
SMAPI is at least opening normally
It's not happy about Sorren and it has no idea what a "sweet Joja berry" is (I don't know either, that sounds like a euphemized curse)
That's better at least. And I may not be able to run this save in vanilla even though I really want multiplayer help in it.
I closed SMAPI and opened Vanilla again to see if I could open it (still not) and then I tried SMAPI again and this time it didn't read the error about Sweet Joja Cola or about Sorren (it was only about Sorren's location in the saloon anyway)

uploading the log itself is nessesary as the parser has info that isnt shown in console at all even on a debug level as there is another value named "trace" that is hidden by default to prevent the console from having issues displaying and people knowing when there is in fact an issue

I fully reset my mods and started using Stardrop. Nothing wrong with Stardrop. Opened up the game, looked at Mod Update Menu, and [TS] Mermaid Island had "Up to Date" in blue. It told me to look at my log but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.

mobile and pc are two different systems... many things on pc will be incompatible on mobile, and you will have to live with that

its like trying to get crossplay on stardew. it wont happen
its not gonna happen either because the multiplayer code doesnt allow for that easily working
there is simply no this should work!!!
it'd be like trying to port a nintendo64 to a switch.. it can be edited, transferred and changed, but there's going to be discrepancies and likely unplayable for the most part
its like getting a game that works for the base system its for to work on an emulator for that system for pc
its not 100% accurate and some games crash instantly when loading

You raise a good point - I should make SM check if you've ever had GMCM before and bring up the config screen if not. Currently it only checks on first install.
I usually find that people are happy with EPX if they're not happy with xBRZ - I think it's the antialiased edges that jar them.

Hello again! Clearly I got bad news because I'm back lol. Apparently reinstalling SVE wasn't the fix because while I was playing a little bit ago it crashed once again. Seems like the spouse patio is still messed up, is there any other fixes I could try?
I'm having an issue that I didn't have just a little while ago. I had to leave and when I came back and restarted my game the smapi log was looping over and over. The error is not showing in the logs, it wouldn't save the recent one. But I did snag this line it kept spitting out

Anything I have here jump out as something particularly intensive? Hey there! Small nitpick issue that isn't really an issue, but I thought it might be interesting to catalogue
When you have NPC map locations and SVE installed, it seems a duplicate of every character is stacked on top of the adventurers guild.
I'm pretty sure this is just a problem of "Adventurers guild/Mines in SVE uses NPCs that normally wouldn't go there, so duplicate NPCs are used, and shown on the map" but I'd like to know everyones thoughts and/or how to remove those icons!

The screenshot you posted shows smapi being in steam -> apps -> stardew valley. The only suggestion I have is to delete it, redownload it and make sure it saves to his downloads, extract it to that location, then try installing it from there. It shouldn’t make a difference but I don’t know what else to suggest

It’s possible that his firewall is marking the file unsafe and automatically deleting it
Try temporarily turning off firewall/windows defender whatever and installing it again
And see if it works then

he doesn’t have a virus protector or windows defender
I think windows automatically has some sort of firewall now
Just have him double check by going into control panel -> system and security -> firewall then there should be a green switch he can toggle off
That and using 7zip are my last ideas, I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be on later and can help you 😢

I think one of those two suppresses special order problems

hi! i got a game error and i'm not too sure what it is about or who should i report this to (not the one about the two elliot's houses!). judging from the log, it happened while i was in the mines and i shot explosive ammo with a slingshot to a slime. I don't know where else to go, so here I suppose.
Farmer to Florist wasn't working properly, inevitably got directed to GitHub. Downloaded the PPJA-Master file and used those instead of my currently installed ones.
Well now none of them load because several if not most of them are missing the manifest.json.

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).
Hey there, does anyone mod SDV on a steam deck? I did an update today and my modded version was working fine before the update. Now it won't open. Thoughts?

Yeah, you should just download the JA ones from Nexus. That said, F2F is a bit buggy in both versions so it's never going to work 100%
I get it, I was just frustrated by getting stuf in the mail just to not receive it since it 'doesnt exist' despite me checking and it's there

The mail works for most PPJA in JA but some of the F2F big craftable recipes that you're supposed to get via mail just never actually come. so you may have to spawn them in (like the drying rack, florist table, etc).
(I feel like this is a near daily question wonder if F2F needs its own special bot 😂 )
A forum said it's something to do with the manifest, which is how I got redirected to GitHub.
I've explained what doesn't work about the F2F JA version as a small warning b/c it's not mentioned in the ppjadga governor command. I don't really have further comment on why it doesn't work.

F2F has incredibly strict perms so if the version posted doesn't work you're probably out of luck

but i cant find the mods folder to put them in
i've done this before but like, i was walked through it the whole time i didn't do it myself

When updating mods (SVE in this case) can you just extract the new version's ZIP and have it replace files? (If the mod page does not say to do anything different for it) Or should you always delete the previous file?
This is for loading a save, not starting a new one.

If you use Steam, you can also right click on the game name > Manage > Browse Local Files.
Is that the same for a map mod as well? (Immersive farm) Like, would deleting that and installing the update delete whatever stuff I have placed?
the only thing it would change is the config if you didn't put it back after deleting

Mine is working fine right now.
Some mods don't want you to update mid-save (They'll usually say so). SVE / IMF are fine to update midsave atm from what I can see

oh one more question. when using nexus it has you download content patcher and everything else you need for sve. do I have to reinstall those as well or just sve?
Just SVE, if you already have the others. Unless there is an update for those as well (SMAPI would say so)

seems like having a problem with market day and custom fixed dialogue,, it seems like market day is the problem? since fixed dialogue is needed for sve can you try removing market day and see if it fixes the problem?

all of the tilesheets say "Component: untitled tile sheet", and although it shows a Crystal ID, the only other things are Solution (a description of the puzzle solution), debug (Map tile), and debug (Location)

I'm trying to write commands to the StardewModdingAPI terminal using a program. Stuff like echo "debug warp Marney" | sudo tee /dev/pts/0 (and using /proc/<pid>/fd/0) don't work
Does SMAPI open a socket or read a FIFO or something?

pretty big issue as i cant actually see what is happening to the crop. i did also try reverifying game files and even deleted crops xnb then i verified again but then realized that its probably not the base game that its taking issue with
I'm pretty new to modding stardew valley but recently I have been experiencing a glitch in my game. Does anyone know what causing this problem? I can post my full SMAPI log if needed but I think this is where the issue lies. I already did a fresh install of the FTM mod, same issue.

Not sure where the FTM stuff is from, but the visual glitch is from spritemaster. You can turn off the resampling or clear the sm cache
clearing the sm cache is putting sm purge into the smapi console
What have you already tried to fix it?
When I tab back into stardew the glitch comes back
sm purge only seems to fix it for a split second
mm only thing I know is to check with the spritemaster config, and change max scale to a different number, that will also clear the cache
you could also just turn off the resampling
I mainly use the mod to reduce loading times from RSV
What does the max scale do?
disabling and reenabling the resampling seems to have fixed my issue

ive tried what i had said above and completely disabling Alternative Textures to see if that was somehow an issue... ive tried looking through the log and trace for events that would lead me to think that it was related to sprites being changed or disabled and I cant find any tbh
also for the record the AT crop sprites work but anything else doesnt. It also at the end product if it isnt changed from the normal sprite is also missing but the vine and seeds stay just fine
the "default" sprites for crops is just 7 rows of black boxes all at the same length
but it doesnt seem to be the case for modded crops?
maybe you could try a patch summary? or just take the brute way and verify files

i already verified files twice and even deleted specific files i thought were related to crops then verified to make sure it was a fresh version. i havent tried patch summery yet so hopefully i find something there

A patch export makes a copy of specific stuff in your content folder so you can see what changes have been applied.
- Load up a save (with Content Patcher installed)
- Type
patch export <FILEPATHOFTHING>in the SMAPI console and hit return - Look in your
patch exportfolder in the game folder for the relevant json file or image - If it's a json file, you can share it via smapi.io/json. If it's an image you should just be able to look at it.
this will help to see if its on the actual crop spritesheet or something else bugging it
