#

-By that I mean, the map is updated, I haven't tested pathing, the primary issue yet

#

So far, no one has walked through a wall

#

I went into Pierres general store, which is the hotbed of glitches

lavish marlin
#

SVE is on my normal test set for SM so I'd expect it to work

#

SVE, RSV, ES, and a lot of other stuff

hoary summit
#

I've had so many unparalleled problems today that I didn't trust this would work

#

But Abigail didn't walk through the wall at 9:30 AM so

#

Perhaps, my issue is fixed

#

Though, this still means I have to reset

lavish marlin
#

SM apparently sometimes fixes problems for people in ways that I don't understand

hoary summit
#

From the beginning

lavish marlin
#

Fixed a crash for one person. I have no idea how.

hoary summit
#

Honestly I blame all my issues on Vortex

#

I don't know what it did

#

But Vortex caused something in the game to snap

lavish marlin
#

My wife downloaded vortex

#

It randomly added incompatible mods and deleted other ones

hoary summit
#

I'm going to reenable all my preferred mods and see if people start doing a jesus and walking on water or doing a... The Wall, and fusing into... The Wall

warm grove
#

the idea of sebastian or jas doing a jesus and walking on water and through solid object? Sounds more like gengar to me xD

#

Im watching pokemon so i guess im giggling a bit

dire fractal
#

so i have SVE and also have a few aesthetic mods for clothing and some portraits, do I need to put the outfit folders somewhere in the SVE folder or does it automatically affect the outfits if it is just in my mod folder

hoary bane
dire fractal
#

its the seasonal outfit and character mods by Poltergeister

hoary bane
#

That should work if you just drop it into your mods folder I think.

dire fractal
#

alright thank you

hoary bane
#

(I think)

dire fractal
#

ill find out eventually through gameplay

karmic saffron
#

Is it the one that says "slightly cuter aesthetic"?

dire fractal
#

thats the one

karmic saffron
#

Yeah it's a CP mod so it should just go into the mods folder. Be aware there there's further config instructions on the main page for if you're using a different farmer base. Also since you have SVE installed, you might also need seasonal outfits for sve since it uses its own sprites and portraits for Marlon, Morris and Gunther.

dire fractal
#

Alright thank u a lot very confused on how those work sometimes

karmic saffron
#

No problem, sometimes mods don't give alot of information regarding the installation of them.

#

I have a question myself. I'm trying to decided if I want to install the AT or the DGA version of a mod. Do DGA items override vanilla assets?

hoary bane
#

No, they add in new ones.

karmic saffron
#

awesome, I'll be using that one then, thank you

Small little meme update, this isn't important, but for everyone that helped me yesterday, I've been playing for a while, and no major issues have occurred!
Though, Leah seems to like walking into shelves, but only some times, and it's only her

hoary summit
#

So, another update, things broke again, but this time I have a SAUCE
The problem is, I have no idea why it's causing issues

#

When toggling "mature events" in SVE, it causes, in this case, Marlon to walk out of the adventurers guild walls and into the endless void, while I'm sure sleeping will reset his pathing, I have no clue why this caused an issue

#

Truly a strange issue, but not one that will effect my playthrough, I was just curious

lilac swallow
#

Anything that changes or interacts with Marlon or the Adventurers Guild?

hoary summit
#

Well, SVE, for one

#

But the thing is, this issue only appeared after I toggled that one option, and didn't go away until I reloaded from the beginning of the day with that option turned off

#

I don't have anything other than SVE for adventurers guild

main ingot
#

probably something got mucked in the jillion mile long content.json

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.

You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

I did that too and it was bearable until I had a scene in the pool section of the bar and the camera was just stuck on the counter

#

i doubt restarting the computer will help but I gotta eliminate it as an option lmao

dapper gazelle
#

it probably won't b/c the reason it's happening is that SMAPI now matches the game's DPI awareness settings. If you start up without SMAPI, you likely will experience the same issue (though you can test it to see--obviously I don't know the particulars of your computer!)

hoary musk
#

I'm seriously thinking about moving to Stardrop for mod management. Does it show weather a mod conflicts with another mod similar to Vortex?

severe steeple
dapper gazelle
#

no... essentially SMAPI is now working as it's supposed to xD

#

what was happening before was some people were experiencing stuff being too zoomed in. this was meant to be a corrective to that. unfortunately some of us now have the opposite problem b/c of our own computers lol. I've tried fiddling with some of my computer's settings to see if it makes a difference but haven't managed to fix the issue in a more global way.

severe steeple
#

Oh ok, have you had any cutscenes yet? If it's a SMAPI thing then would a cutscene mod have to update too to adjust to the new SMAPI zoom standards?

crisp hawk
#

Trying to play with mods for the first time, now I can't launch the game?

dapper gazelle
#

so I did want to ask you about that. Are all the cutscenes giving you trouble or just the one? B/c I was definitely worried about that too but so far, they've all been fine

severe steeple
#

I've only had one so far, it's the CP post marriage mod in the saloon, but I boosted the rate to hopefully test it again elsewhere

#

I have event repeater but I can't figure out the commands

dapper gazelle
#

So to give you a quick summation, every cutscene has something called a viewport--this is basically the central coordinates of the scene.

#

now part of the problem with viewports is that even though the coordinates themselves are consistent, depending on how zoomed in or zoomed out the event maker's own game is, their sense of what's in the middle may differ from another user's

If anyone could grace me with their time. I've never had such a difficult time modding a game before.

My girlfriend is using Vortex Mod Manager, and she just wants to download a simple portrait mod(DCBurger's High Res Portrait Mod). She got the 4 mods that are required for it. Content Patcher/PyTK/Portraiture/SMAPI.
Each mod got installed in the Stardew Valley mods folder. With the exception of SMAPI which stayed in the Vortex\Stardew Valley\Mods file path.
It deploys without issue, but the Portrait Mod doesn't work.

I've determined that SMAPI isn't working from the get go. Trying to launch StardewModdingAPI.exe will show an icon on taskbar for a millisecond, and then nothing comes of it. Running the program through Command Prompt/PowerShell like the internet suggests, gives me the error above. There is no ErrorLog to show with it.

I've tried:
**Verifying games files** -- All files successfully validated.
**Reinstalled SMAPI** -- Didn't change anything.
**Moved SMAPI folder to the steampps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods\ folder** -- Didn't change anything.

scarlet quail
#

So tell me something

#

How are you installing SMAPI?

#

Manually or via Vortex?

orchid spindle
#

I'll have to take a look at that page later. All of the mods were downloaded using Vortex Mod Manager. The Content Patcher\PyTK\Portraiture\High Res Portrait Mod all went into the Stardew Valley Mods folder that is under Steam\steamapps. SMAPI defaults under a Stardew Valley Mods that is under the Vortex for whatever reason.

scarlet quail
#

yeah, no. Install SMAPI manually. Even if nothing else, that should help

main ingot
#

never use vortex

scarlet quail
#

And by manually I mean manual download from Nexus

main ingot
#

for the love of all things holy

scarlet quail
#

There is also the manual manual version which is why I have to specify

#

But that's covered in the readme and is more a last resort

main ingot
#

(screams from the heavens) vortex will give you problems! dont use it!

hoary bane
#

Use it, if you love troubleshooting 98% of the time.

scarlet quail
#

snrk while I agree, Unconcerned, especially for the mods they're going for, it's not that big of a deal except for installing SMAPI

#

They can use vortex normally, it just doesn't play well with Stardew and especially not with installing the framework for literally every mod

lament prairie
#

It's most likely the problem here that they're installing SMAPI via Vortex

scarlet quail
#

^^^^^^^

lament prairie
#

I feel like that's been broken for over a year

main ingot

oh yes i agree

Haven't had an issue with Vortex when it comes to FO4, Skyrim, or RoN. I'll keep that in mind for Stardew, especially for SMAPI

scarlet quail
#

...true I should probably call you Lani but I always go for the first part of names. Gets me in trouble sometimes when the first part of a user is not great out-of-context XD

main ingot
#

stardew has very finnicky files and vortex eats them sometimes

thats all

for other games vortex is perfect bc it was built for them

lament prairie

we could call you un, for short

main ingot

PepeOld un…

scarlet quail

Personally, especially for those four mods, you could probably use Vortex without issue, but SMAPI itself needs manual install 99% of the time

#

(I'd say 100 but I know some people somehow, improbably, have success doing that)

orchid spindle
scarlet quail

If it doesn't work, you only have four mods so a manual install of mods would be quick and easy

lament prairie

Kinda all 3

scarlet quail
#

#3 usually causes #2 and #1

hoary bane
#

How long did you wait? Did you press the screen while it was loading?

scarlet quail
#

And that too. Anytime your SMAPI goes into select mode....well, I don't click the SMAPI window when it loads for that reason

quiet umbra
#

Really? I sometimes click on it in sheer frustration

sudden drift
scarlet quail
#

That's normal

lament prairie
#

generally save creation takes a very long time if you have a ton of mods

#

particularly pytk

scarlet quail
#

In fact, I'd say that's literally the most normal thing ever with mods XD remember, it's not loading the normal vanilla game

sudden drift
scarlet quail
#

I'm assuming you have expansions like RSV and SVE too

sudden drift
scarlet quail
#

Basically, imagine it loading Stardew twice

#

The original maps are basically twice their size due to SVE adding several new ones and editing the old ones, and RSV doubles the NPCs

#

So you're doubling the amount of content, meaning it has to load that double the amount...so it freezes

#

It's just calculating everything

#

Same on load. You have that much in your save file so it has to parse everything

quiet umbra
#

Without pytk & tmxl will buildables still work?

scarlet quail
#

...not sure I get the question, shaddo, I'd assume we'd have to check with anime on what exactly they have that requires PyTK (or TMXL, since that reqs PyTK)

sudden drift
#

Idk the screen froze and then turned white with a message that says "Stardew Modding API is not responding" and to either close the program or wait

scarlet quail
#

did you click on the screen?

hoary bane
quiet umbra
#

Several kinds

scarlet quail
#

Because clicking on the screen will do that if it's loading. Usually when I do that it completely screws over the load process

hoary bane
#

Like tmxl buildables?

quiet umbra
#

Same thing

hoary bane
#

??

scarlet quail
#

Just...wait it out. If it takes too long, a config might have screwed it, like I didn't set Juliet and Jessie to the SVE map

hoary bane
#

You're asking if you are without Pytk and Tmxl, if tmxl buildables will work?

scarlet quail
#

...personally not sure about this entire conversation you two are having here because we don't even know what PyTK stuff they're running so the whole thing is a generic thingy which as an academic thing we can't really answer

hoary bane
# sudden drift Ohhh ok

Close your game and reload. If you're getting into a save, don't click anything and just wait.

#

Are there any red lines in your Smapi?

quiet umbra
#

Well I know that you can bypass pytk thu cp
I want to know if there is something like that for buildables

sudden drift
scarlet quail

Ah

Yeah send us the log since you have skipped mods

#

!log

native dragonBOT
#

Can you upload your SMAPI log to https://smapi.io/log (see instructions on that page) and share the link here?

scarlet quail
#

That might also be your problem

hoary bane
#

I don't think warnings will prevent you from getting into a game, but a log is good.

scarlet quail
#

With luck it's just a few that won't matter

#

But otherwise those skipped mods could tell us everything

hoary bane
quiet umbra
#

I've got that because a mod required it. Never have really looked into what it can do

hoary bane
#

Hmm, plenty! There's an example pack inside if you plan to convert anything for personal use.

quiet umbra
#

I just know when you look at the list of mods that require pytk there's lots of buildables listed

hoary bane
#

Anyway, Pytk/Tmxl aren't usually the sole reason for the Not Responding screens. Having any big expansions or just a high mod count in general could be it too.

sudden drift
#

Would the grandpa's farm be one?

hoary bane
#

You have SVE?

quiet umbra
#

Yes I know, but pytk seems to show up a lot in the re on a log

scarlet quail
#

grandpa's farm is not a big expansion

#

SVE is

#

Again, much simpler to show us a log, then we can help better

hoary bane
#

Isn't that pre-packaged with SVE? SDVpufferthinkblob

scarlet quail
#

It is not

#

Grandpa's Farm and IF2R are optional maps, not packaged with SVE

hoary bane
scarlet quail
#

Same with Grampleton but that's not a farm map so

quiet umbra
#

You have a choice

hoary bane
#

Wasn't Grampleton part of the main package in the past though? SDVpufferthink

scarlet quail
#

If you don't load either of the Farm maps with SVE you'll still get Grandpa's Shed too

#

It was, Ren

#

But they cut it out due to obvious performance issues

#

after all, it's a FREAKIN HUGE map

quiet umbra
#

You can still have grandpa's shed and use a completely different farm map

scarlet quail

That is what I said above. The Shed ends up on its own custom map though

Now let's see

hoary bane

That error shouldn't prevent anyone from entering the game. I think you clicking on the screen is probably the problem.

#

Ah, you have SVE.

scarlet quail
#

deep sigh okay I've got a lot of problems with all of your stuff here but I'll try and keep it short

#

Multiple Spouses is outdated, use Free Love

#

Unless I'm missing something important here, nothing you have requires TMXL, and probably not PyTK

#

If Ren sees a PyTK/TMXL mod in there, let me know

#

like, maybe the Sebastian's Garage, at best, but that's it

hoary bane
#

🧐

scarlet quail
#

Otherwise based on the mods you have there is probably no reason to have those two and that'll help speed up your stuff

#

Also, I'd get Spritemaster

#

!sm

native dragonBOT
#

SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance.

scarlet quail
#

Turn off resampling if you don't want weird graphical changes

hoary bane
#

I don't think they have anything that needs Tmxl/Pytk?

scarlet quail
#

Yeah, Seb's garage does not need it

hoary bane
#

Though some of the names are unfamiliar to me, you can probably remove those and just check the log.

#

While your mod count is still low, I'd suggest not using Pytk/Tmxl at all.

sudden drift
#

I got this message: "PyTK 1.23.* or earlier isn't compatible with newer SMAPI performance optimizations. This may increase loading times or in-game lag" would this be the issue?

scarlet quail
#

That makes it slower yes. And you literally don't need pytk for any of your mods

lament prairie
#

it means what it says

#

which is that it can impact performance

scarlet quail
#

And again, please swap to Free Love. It's updated for the newer smapi/game versions

hoary bane
#

It also says that Smapi wouldn't support it in the future 4.0.0 version.

scarlet quail
#

using Multiple Spouses will just cause crashes.

#

(Aeden specifically has it on the description of the mod page to use it too)

sudden drift
scarlet quail
#

Delete it, and install the successor mod Free Love

#

You'll get the same thing and it'll actually be, y'know, supported and updated

quiet umbra
#

Do multiple spouses dialogue s work with free love?

hoary bane
scarlet quail
#

It does! I use it, shaddo, and it's great

quiet umbra
#

Ok, thanx

scarlet quail
#

Anyway. So in short: Delete PyTK and TMXL, along with Multiple Spouses. Install Free Love to replace the last. Get SpriteMaster (and turn off resampling in the config unless you like the smoothing). Delete that XNB mod it's saying it's skipping, because that will probably cause errors.

yes ALL of the major expansions are in there too

scarlet quail
#

...I mean, that just makes me hopeful that some of my friends will actually be able to run a RSV/SVE/ES playthrough

warm grove
#

i mean fair

#

but like

#

i have a lenovo legion

#

which is kinda sourced as being a gaming laptop

scarlet quail
#

Aha.

warm grove
#

with an rtx 3050

#

so

#

not exactly something that is easy

scarlet quail
#

...Okay less hope but also that's like I said a superpowered laptop

warm grove
#

mostly cause i def used to lag on my gtx 1050TI graphics card... which was in a desktop setup

#

like horrible game ending lag but that was before the 1.4 update even

#

so like no idea

scarlet quail
#

Under normal laptop vs. tower conditions, at least from what I get from picked up knowledge on the subreddit, laptops get lagged the hell out with large expansion mods

warm grove
#

i think it matters read/write speeds more to be fair

scarlet quail
#

I'm just crossing all my fingers those three will work for everyone plus the various QoL mods from everyone

#

If that all works, perfect

warm grove
#

since data access is how lag usually occurs... that or asset cramming from RAM

scarlet quail
#

...but if not I'm going to cry when I have to make cuts

warm grove
#

to be fair ridgeside is the one that lagged me the LEAST

#

SVE lagged me the most

scarlet quail
#

My tower personally can handle it all, but everyone else...

#

Well, not holding out that much hope

warm grove
#

so if they can run SVE its likely the other ones might run

sudden drift
#

I just have a regular HP Laptop with a 15.6 inch touchscreen. Am I disappointed that it's not a gaming laptop? No because I'm not much of a gamer anyways. It still gets the job done

warm grove
#

at the same time SVE requires the most patches for QOL mods and they change location data which mucks up schedules with NPCS not considering SVE pathing

#

i mean thats fair

#

i only got this for subnautica tbf

scarlet quail
#

Oh yeah. That's the thing that gives me hope too, Josh

warm grove
#

and thats HEAVILY graphics oriented

scarlet quail
#

Stardew Valley can be run on a potato

cerulean totem
#

hello how to use lhn's greenhouse as interior for buildable greenhouse? coz i saw 1 comment saying i just need to rename the greenhouse name to greenhousemap, but which one coz theres 4 due to it being seasonal and will the 2nd greenhouse map still work on the buildable greenhouse?

sudden drift
scarlet quail
#

So we just need a potato with decent power for a modded 'dew on a friend's laptop

#

But three expansions is going to be rough

#

Definitely no Downtown Zuzu or Durin's Rest or w/e

warm grove
#

i mean i have seen someone use a potato to control their laptop and all its controls before and played through all of Super Mario 64 on emu

sudden drift
#

pours a bag of potatoes I've got taters! Lol

warm grove
#

downtown zuzu doesnt have enough content tbf to warrant the extra lag

scarlet quail
#

Yep. Which is why it's an easy cut

#

Honestly if the potato laptops can run those three expansions I might add in some standalone NPCs too

#

Juna, Alecto, June, Mister Ginger, etc.

warm grove
#

i only just got durins rest and have no idea what it does yet so dont spoil it for me either ossiniMischief

scarlet quail
#

Oh I don't have Durin's rest myself due to disagreement with the Art Style

#

so no worries there

warm grove
#

mmmm well.... i like the idea of it and i have so many conflicting art styles normally due to kaya mods

sleek knot
#

this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6098?tab=description) is supposed to edit the beds i can place in my house, but i still have the vanilla beds. can someone maybe point out if a mod i have installed is overwriting this change? thank you ^^ https://smapi.io/log/8b765a327e0549dea6afb7b707b2149b

warm grove
#

its kinda similar in style (crop wise) with a couple of the kaya mods old textures so im used to it

scarlet quail
#

Wouldn't Industrial Kitchen Interior overwrite that, since it edits the whole farmhouse?

#

Not 100% sure though

warm grove
#

it depends on how it was implemented

#

errr.... thats the wrong mod i think vaq

#

that mod specifically leaves out the farmhouse i think

#

from the desc "
Including interior recolour of all the farm buildings. Download Industrial Kitchen and Interior for farmhouse interiors."

#

there seems to be a few bug reports indicating golden scrolls dont work and town doors are bugged heavily

sleek knot
#

hmm idk, users in posts are talking about it replacing the bed sprites as well

#

dont remember where i read it but other users do report the farmhouse beds being changed

warm grove
#

also its not compatable with SVE right now

#

just to let you know

sleek knot
#

ahh

#

ive not had any issues in my game so far so im not too worried about it all

#

i just want cute farmhouse beds honestly BSUDFIGBLUI

warm grove
#

uh.... also you using vortex is messing up smapi file pathing in the log

#

as its detecting disabled mods folders but not the mods themselves causing log spam

#

also vortex isnt reccomended for stardew

sleek knot
#

yea i am using vortex but i have no intention to change

#

ive never had issues using it, except for some log spam

warm grove
#

also several mods you installed as smapi mods/content packs arent actually smapi/content packs. they are xnb replacers

#

which PLEASE dont use those as every game update breaks them

#

i mostly warned about vortex because we had someone come in yesterday being unable to actually select a save file even without many mods enabled cause vortex was being weird and deleting base game files somehow

#

they also kept having to reverify their game to remove vortex traces

sleek knot
#

ahhhh wild. in the future ill stop using vortex but im a bit too deep now to really mess with it. ive yet to experience any major glitches but perhaps im just really lucky

worthy moth
#

Vortex is great at games other than Stardew Valley

#

!modmanagerbugs

native dragonBOT
#

Vortex (Nexus) and ModDrop both are mod managers that can help you keep your mods up to date, but they are difficult to troubleshoot. If you're looking for a mod manager that was written specifically for SDV and has troubleshooting logs built in, you can try Stardrop (!stardrop).

If you're using a non-Stardrop mod manager and ask for help troubleshooting, you can ask the Nexus Discord https://www.nexusmods.com/discord or the Moddrop Discord https://www.moddrop.com/app/about (scroll down). If you're using Stardrop, please remember to provide a Stardrop log.

warm grove
#

meaning we kinda dont help with vortex because it causes niche Vortex specific issues like graphics or file scramble or even loading mods in wrong

#

which cause errors that arent mod related

#

which as you can imagine is harder to troubleshoot and even harder to pinpoint

worthy moth
#

Half the time the "fix" is to delete your whole Vortex mod folder and redownload/reinstall everything because it's so hard to find out why anything is wrong

sleek knot
#

damn :/ well thanks for the help anyways guys, ill keep all this in mind the next time i start a modded save

#

perhaps ill look for a furniture recolor mod, or just deal with the vanilla beds myself

warm grove
#

mostly cause vortex seems to make the "linking" process of deploying mods default to an ineffective format

worthy moth
#

No offense to Vortex, I've used it for other games just fine, but here it seems to just do weird things sometimes

warm grove
#

symlinks are the devil i swear

sleek knot
#

i typically like vortex because it makes downloading mods simple + i dont need a mod manager for every game i use. but lot of people have issues with it and ive just been really lucky i suppose

warm grove
#

stardrop has that too tbf

#

it also just sucks up previous installs and uses the hardlink files from vortex and clears everything else

worthy moth
#

Stardrop is the best of both world because it works very well for Stardew Valley, and it officially supports Nexus Mods

warm grove
#

that was exactly why and how i switched too

#

it has a NXM association and has a dedicated api key window too

#

meaning technically nexus themselves aknowlege its usefulness

sleek knot
#

do yall think i can drop my vortex mods folder into stardrop and see if it fixes some of my issues? or should i not bother?

warm grove
#

its like them having vortex for bethesda games and still having api access to MO2

worthy moth
#

You can point Vortex Stardrop to your SDV installation, and it'll detect all of your mods

sleek knot
#

hmmm alrightly ill try that out

warm grove
#

if that also doesnt immediatly work you can change the deployment method to hardlink and then do it again

edgy hatch
#

i took the time to switch to stardrop and 10/10 recommend

worthy moth
#

I have Vortex managing almost 700 mods

warm grove
#

in which case it will absolutely work

sleek knot
#

alrighty ill give it a shot, thanks!

warm grove
#

when you change the deployment method make sure to "unlink" then redeploy to make sure the symlinks are gone before it writes the files to the game folder

#

symlinks dont even have the files in the game folder which is why its actual hell to get around

#

cause mods writing to the folders in symlink form cause issues sometimes with slower drives

#

I don't see any red, just yellow which you can mostly ignore

#

For whatever reason though, it's not parsing translation files

warm grove
#

those seem to think the translation files arent valid jsons

scarlet quail
#

Yeah that's not red, that's orange at best

edgy hatch
#

that's what is stressing me out

worthy moth
#

Oh hey, Custom Chores, that's my old mod

warm grove
#

but the mods themselves are fine as long as you arent playing in another language

worthy moth
#

I'm surprised it still works to be honest, it hasn't been updated for the latest version of SDV

edgy hatch
#

i downloaded it on a whim after you told me that helpful spouses wasn't updated

warm grove
#

xD are you gonna update that btw faux?

scarlet quail
#

.... It may be that some of your translation mods decided to run on PyTK for some reason

edgy hatch
#

and it's a bit glitchy (soimetimes i have to reset the chores) but seems to work

worthy moth
#

I started working on an update, but got stuck on something. Also some of that stuff is part of the game now, and it wasn't at the time the mod came out.

#

Like in the vanilla game, your spouse will do chores sometimes.

edgy hatch
#

yeah as far as i can recall the translation issues weren't happening before, and that's the red i was talking about haha

scarlet quail
#

I've seen that be the case before with a couple mods randomly having that in their descriptions but that seems so strange

edgy hatch
#

i agree! esp because from a quick glance it seems like popular mods are having the errors

worthy moth
#

It's weird that it wouldn't be valid json though since the mod hasn't been updated in years, and it was fine before

scarlet quail
#

Can you reinstall those mods? Maybe PYTK did something screwy

worthy moth
#

So nothing changed about it that should have broken it

scarlet quail
#

I know I know, PITA

warm grove
#

ah.... fair... well i was just thinking the mod was cool and some integral parts of your mod arent possible without it so....?

scarlet quail
#

But might help

edgy hatch
#

that's what i was about to ask if i sohuld do haha

warm grove
#

yeah.... this and the fact that i do have a few older mods that STILL rely on tmxl/pytk that are required by certian json assets mods to work which makes me agony incarnate sometimes

#

plus theres one mod that isnt ever gonna be updated and yet i was for a small time friends with that author and i refuse to leave it behind entirely

edgy hatch
#

testing to see if it fixes things by reinstalling one of the ones that wasn't working

warm grove
#

"The Chest Dimension" which no believe it or not ISNT broken yet

worthy moth
#

Also Custom Chores never depended on PyTK so no reason it should work with or without it

warm grove
#

that and mineral guild hasnt been updated to use extra map layers yet... or museum expansion...

#

--suffering--

edgy hatch
#

it appeared that reinstalling worked

#

!!

warm grove
#

oh good

sleek knot
warm grove
#

in vortex if you go into "deployment methods" and its symlink change it to hardlink purge and then redeploy which should fix it then you can have stardrop point towords the mod folder and then it should just fill in the gaps from that

#

if it doesnt, i suddgest installing a "test" mod with stardrop and then dropping all of the other mods into the folder it creates which should be "Stardrop Installed Mods"

#

i did this myself and it worked so if you do this exactly like that it should also work for you

sleek knot
#

ah it was set to hardlink deployment already

#

i dont have any issues im just a bit slow when it comes to modding things haha. but ive fully switched to stardrop now so thank you :)

worthy moth
#

Hope it works out well for me, it definitely has saved me so much time with updates

warm grove
#

also vaq. the user who posted about the bed installed another mod that edited the bed and thought it was that one which is why it was posted there and got no replies

#

its cause the bed wasnt edited by their mod but another that they downloaded alongside that mod

sleek knot
#

ahhhhh damn lol, i just really like the look of the beds in rustic country town interiors! thank you so much for your help, ill look around for other furniture mods

warm grove
#

if you need that though there is a companion mod that goes with the one you linked thats called "Industrial Furniture Set"

#

it does look... different... though

sleek knot
#

yea i have that installed, but it doesnt alter the beds at all :/

warm grove
#

so its def not the same thing but its in the mod desc

#

uh... i mean according to the one screenshot it actually does

sleek knot
#

aha i found a mod that adds these exact beds! turns out i just suck at looking around

warm grove
#

lol

#

ok thats me in a nutshell wtf

#

i literally spent 4-5 days downloading mods

#

i started on the 17th

#

and finished downloading on the 20th

#

(mostly cause i also beat pokemon x and y from the anistar city at the same time) but it normally takes at least 2 days to find and pick out all the mods again if i dont have a backup of my previous mods

#

since last time i played stardew was in like... april...

sleek knot
#

im slow and picky when it comes to mods haha. the majority of them come from a collection i found on nexus which works Mostly fine

warm grove
#

so i had to also look through everything from that point and after

#

ah... nexus... collections....

#

i honestly want to say collections were god aweful during the beta

#

i was chosen at one point to be part of nexus mods next but i didnt end up using collections like i thought i would because by that time people were withdrawing and being outspoken against that one nexus policy change that ruined the whole reason of collections for me

#

so i kinda went "why are we doing this again?" sorta thing even though i know it is still useful in some communities

#

sigh

sleek knot
#

nvm this mod didnt retexture the beds wtf am i missing

#

well it retextured 1 bed at least!

#

i might just go through all my furniture mods one by one to see whats up :(

warm grove
#

its very possible something isnt being set cause you have too many mods that edit tilesheets and furniture in and of itself

#

i ran into that once and thats why i removed all those mods and just went with AT instead

#

or "Alternative Textures"

#

also i found the most HILARIOUS mod just now

#

it ACTUALLY WORKS AS IF YOUR HEAD WAS TILLED DIRT

#

meaning you can "plant" crop seeds on your head as a hat

#

and harvest them

#

and it will regrow too

you uh

#

your game.... are you using vortex...?

robust bison

looks like stardrop to me

edgy hatch
#

i wish i could tell u yes 🥲

warm grove

hmmm....

#

something is making your translations not work

so no icon on the bottom left of the title screen?

warm grove

stardew valley expandeds english json couldent load either...

robust bison
#

for the json errors I would try reinstalling

edgy hatch
#

reinstalling every other mod besides SVE got rid of the translation errors

warm grove
#

you sure about that?

#

cause uh

#

theres a lot more than sve having that issue in this log

robust bison
#

it looks like the game can't read the chinese characters in the jsons

warm grove
#

^ and thats weird

#

because chinese is an actual supported format/language

edgy hatch
#

no, but before there were like 7 mods that were showing translation errors and now it's just down to SVE and the chores

warm grove
#

ridgeside has the issue too

edgy hatch
sleek knot
#

finally found my issue for the beds..... was using a custom furniture version of a mod instead of the CP version :') my cute homestead starts now

robust bison
#

while a save is loaded?

edgy hatch
#

yes, sorry!

warm grove
#

hey wait... that file path isnt the games path.... stardrop is installed in its own different path and is like... being picked up on by smapi?

#

"AppData\Roaming\Stardrop\Data\Selected Mods[CP] Ridgeside Village\i18n._default.json"

#

it should just put it directly in the mods folder under "Stardrop Installed Mods"

#

i wonder if thats the issue...?

edgy hatch
#

I uh, may need you to dumb down what I’ll have to do to fix that

warm grove
#

i mean i have stardrop on my C drive but my game on my D drive which ensures it doesnt try looking elsewhere

edgy hatch
#

Because I vaguely follow but am definitely a novice

warm grove
#

it should just do what i said automatically! which is why i find this bizzare

#

you would have had to purposefully choose the wrong install location

#

like a non game location where the launcher isnt

edgy hatch
#

Which I am pretty sure I did not do

#

But maybe with switching from vortex to stardrop?

robust bison
#

try launching without stardrop and upload a new log

warm grove
#

it should install directly into the game folder in your stardew valley directory

#

^

robust bison
#

wait you're using vortex?

edgy hatch
#

No!!

#

I had been previously

robust bison
#

ok

#

then try what I suggested

edgy hatch
#

Trying now!

warm grove
#

aka just click on the moddingapi exe and not launch it through anything else

#

it gives the most clear image

#

also if you didnt purge your previous vortex install before doing this that could be why its seeing mods from the wrong location by the by

#

if you need to, have stardrop redetect your game path. since there is a "Smapi" path, a "Game" path, and a "Mods Install" path which could be incorrectly placed

edgy hatch
#

i think i did but i just saw a rogue vortex file i just deleted

warm grove
#

i remember when my hard drive broke i had the issue that stardrop wouldnt correctly detect the mods install path and kept trying to default to the older gone drive location which no longer existed.

edgy hatch
#

booting up via modding exe and then i'll do the redirect

warm grove
#

i should report that to the stardrop creator tbh because if the old path doesnt exist anymore it should unlink and make the exe unusable until you fix the pathing successfully

#

idk if thats feesible though since coding can sometimes break other things unintentionally through conflicting code
