So far, no one has walked through a wall
I went into Pierres general store, which is the hotbed of glitches
SVE is on my normal test set for SM so I'd expect it to work
SVE, RSV, ES, and a lot of other stuff
I've had so many unparalleled problems today that I didn't trust this would work
But Abigail didn't walk through the wall at 9:30 AM so
Perhaps, my issue is fixed
Though, this still means I have to reset
SM apparently sometimes fixes problems for people in ways that I don't understand

Honestly I blame all my issues on Vortex
I don't know what it did
But Vortex caused something in the game to snap
My wife downloaded vortex
It randomly added incompatible mods and deleted other ones

so i have SVE and also have a few aesthetic mods for clothing and some portraits, do I need to put the outfit folders somewhere in the SVE folder or does it automatically affect the outfits if it is just in my mod folder
Depends on what type of mod it is.

Yeah it's a CP mod so it should just go into the mods folder. Be aware there there's further config instructions on the main page for if you're using a different farmer base. Also since you have SVE installed, you might also need seasonal outfits for sve since it uses its own sprites and portraits for Marlon, Morris and Gunther.

All my mods are the same, it was just the fact I was launching through the SMAPI tool on Vortex

Yeah, vortex has had a long standing host of issues, that's why the recommended mode of install is manual.

Small little meme update, this isn't important, but for everyone that helped me yesterday, I've been playing for a while, and no major issues have occurred!
Though, Leah seems to like walking into shelves, but only some times, and it's only her
So, another update, things broke again, but this time I have a SAUCE
The problem is, I have no idea why it's causing issues
When toggling "mature events" in SVE, it causes, in this case, Marlon to walk out of the adventurers guild walls and into the endless void, while I'm sure sleeping will reset his pathing, I have no clue why this caused an issue
Truly a strange issue, but not one that will effect my playthrough, I was just curious

But the thing is, this issue only appeared after I toggled that one option, and didn't go away until I reloaded from the beginning of the day with that option turned off

Now I'm wondering if you copied the Contents or moved it in it's entirety. 
I could see someone moving it accidentally, if they unzipped a mod into the main folder instead of the Mods folder and then accidentally grabbed two things when dragging the mod into place

They're mostly clientside but ideally you'd want everyone to have them if you don't want any bugs. My personal experience is that the outfits sometimes doesn't match up from portraits to sprites if only 1 has it.

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

I kinda like to collect everything so if bugs don't prevent me from getting all items eventually, I'm fine
DGA farmer to florist all the mail is broken
(this is a problem with farmer to florist and not with MFM or DGA)
there might be a few other issues but that's the main one
since a lot of seeds/saplings iirc are sent via mail, this tends to cause puzzlement

the mail is also partly broken in the JA version too--you'll get the potted plant recipes with no problem iirc but you won't be able to get the other big craftables that let you turn the flowers into cool stuff

how can i remove a modded npc spouse room? im married to sterling from 'its always raining in the valley', and i want to clear his spouse room. i downloaded 'seasonal garden farmhouse' + its empty spouse room file --> https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6005?tab=description . i know its because sterling is a modded npc, but how would i go about emptying his room?

If it's done via CP, then it's mostly just a matter of targeting the right location in Content with the seasonal garden farmhouse spouse room
If it's done via TMXL then...idk maybe overwrite the mod file?? Idk how TMXL spouse rooms work
Both of these are slightly tricky things to do, so you may need to get someone to walk you through the process/read the CP docs and learn its format
Sterling spouse room is on TMXL, on CP in beta

I'm having the same problem as well, I just reverted to a previous version. 

has anyone run into an issue where the shortcut warps added when you buy Robin's community upgrade just... don't work and you can just run right off screen forever? I'm running with ~450 mods so I'm sure something is just making those warps wonky but I can't figure out what because there aren't any errors in my log

at the moment when i go to load the game (unmodded) it kicks me back to the loading screen
which is think is due to older mods that i've deleted

Does anyone know how to adjust the UI of the game? I updated my SMAPI to the latest version and I though I fixed it, but in a cutscene, the camera was fixed to the center frame and I'm unsure how to adjust it
the loading screen looks this ever since I updated it and I don't know how to make it smaller, I've tried windowed, windowed borderless and fullscreen, but it's still spread out
It'd be awesome if someone knows b/c I have this issue too. I fixed it in-game at least, by having the zoom and UI at 150% (and when I load the game those settings are still there) but I cannot get the title screen to look normal anymore.
Installed Profiler, did some testing. Same result as before.

I did that too and it was bearable until I had a scene in the pool section of the bar and the camera was just stuck on the counter
i doubt restarting the computer will help but I gotta eliminate it as an option lmao
it probably won't b/c the reason it's happening is that SMAPI now matches the game's DPI awareness settings. If you start up without SMAPI, you likely will experience the same issue (though you can test it to see--obviously I don't know the particulars of your computer!)
I'm seriously thinking about moving to Stardrop for mod management. Does it show weather a mod conflicts with another mod similar to Vortex?

no... essentially SMAPI is now working as it's supposed to xD
what was happening before was some people were experiencing stuff being too zoomed in. this was meant to be a corrective to that. unfortunately some of us now have the opposite problem b/c of our own computers lol. I've tried fiddling with some of my computer's settings to see if it makes a difference but haven't managed to fix the issue in a more global way.
Oh ok, have you had any cutscenes yet? If it's a SMAPI thing then would a cutscene mod have to update too to adjust to the new SMAPI zoom standards?

I've only had one so far, it's the CP post marriage mod in the saloon, but I boosted the rate to hopefully test it again elsewhere
I have event repeater but I can't figure out the commands
So to give you a quick summation, every cutscene has something called a viewport--this is basically the central coordinates of the scene.
now part of the problem with viewports is that even though the coordinates themselves are consistent, depending on how zoomed in or zoomed out the event maker's own game is, their sense of what's in the middle may differ from another user's

It should print into the log (i forget at what level, possibly trace) and snitch on mods taking a long time **it does occasionally point towards the "wrong" mod but typically gives some hints as to what's taking forever
I know Ameise complains that it says SM takes a while to garbage collect or something but that seems like it's just because SM messes with/triggers garbage collection more often or something

Well, you don't necessarily want to run it all the time
It does cause added performance costs to log all this info all the time
Typically the use case is install -> see what profiler says -> tweak mods -> uninstall
Also, it won't catch every source of lag
I feel like I'm rapidly aging while I wait on it to load
I feel like atra has mentioned finding lag in other places
But it's a tool to help you understand performance, basically
that;s great. All I can do at the moment is figure well, it might just be a lot of mods
got it to trigger again, and the viewpoint is off still

time to write in harmony patches that add tons of lag, clearly 😛
(That's not unusual; SMAPI tries to be fault-tolerant and auto-recover from errors when possible, but the vanilla game just crashes at the first unhandled error.)
(Imagine if every red message in the SMAPI console was a game crash; those were the good ol' days.)

Normally a mod has a "manifest.json" file inside it that tells SMAPI what the mod is and what version it is, etc.
If your mod doesn't have it, in general it means the download was done incorrectly

If anyone could grace me with their time. I've never had such a difficult time modding a game before.
My girlfriend is using Vortex Mod Manager, and she just wants to download a simple portrait mod(DCBurger's High Res Portrait Mod). She got the 4 mods that are required for it. Content Patcher/PyTK/Portraiture/SMAPI.
Each mod got installed in the Stardew Valley mods folder. With the exception of SMAPI which stayed in the Vortex\Stardew Valley\Mods file path.
It deploys without issue, but the Portrait Mod doesn't work.
I've determined that SMAPI isn't working from the get go. Trying to launch StardewModdingAPI.exe will show an icon on taskbar for a millisecond, and then nothing comes of it. Running the program through Command Prompt/PowerShell like the internet suggests, gives me the error above. There is no ErrorLog to show with it.
I've tried:
**Verifying games files** -- All files successfully validated.
**Reinstalled SMAPI** -- Didn't change anything.
**Moved SMAPI folder to the steampps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods\ folder** -- Didn't change anything.
**Installed .NET Desktop Runtime 5.0.0** -- No dice.
**Restarted Computer** -- Nothing.
Out of ideas.

I'll have to take a look at that page later. All of the mods were downloaded using Vortex Mod Manager. The Content Patcher\PyTK\Portraiture\High Res Portrait Mod all went into the Stardew Valley Mods folder that is under Steam\steamapps. SMAPI defaults under a Stardew Valley Mods that is under the Vortex for whatever reason.

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

Basically, imagine it loading Stardew twice
The original maps are basically twice their size due to SVE adding several new ones and editing the old ones, and RSV doubles the NPCs
So you're doubling the amount of content, meaning it has to load that double the amount...so it freezes

Anyway. So in short: Delete PyTK and TMXL, along with Multiple Spouses. Install Free Love to replace the last. Get SpriteMaster (and turn off resampling in the config unless you like the smoothing). Delete that XNB mod it's saying it's skipping, because that will probably cause errors.
And voila your load times should shorten dramatically

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Half the time the "fix" is to delete your whole Vortex mod folder and redownload/reinstall everything because it's so hard to find out why anything is wrong

mostly cause vortex seems to make the "linking" process of deploying mods default to an ineffective format
No offense to Vortex, I've used it for other games just fine, but here it seems to just do weird things sometimes
symlinks are the devil i swear
i typically like vortex because it makes downloading mods simple + i dont need a mod manager for every game i use. but lot of people have issues with it and ive just been really lucky i suppose
stardrop has that too tbf
it also just sucks up previous installs and uses the hardlink files from vortex and clears everything else
Stardrop is the best of both world because it works very well for Stardew Valley, and it officially supports Nexus Mods
that was exactly why and how i switched too
it has a NXM association and has a dedicated api key window too
meaning technically nexus themselves aknowlege its usefulness
do yall think i can drop my vortex mods folder into stardrop and see if it fixes some of my issues? or should i not bother?
its like them having vortex for bethesda games and still having api access to MO2
You can point Vortex Stardrop to your SDV installation, and it'll detect all of your mods

if that also doesnt immediatly work you can change the deployment method to hardlink and then do it again
i took the time to switch to stardrop and 10/10 recommend

when you change the deployment method make sure to "unlink" then redeploy to make sure the symlinks are gone before it writes the files to the game folder
symlinks dont even have the files in the game folder which is why its actual hell to get around
cause mods writing to the folders in symlink form cause issues sometimes with slower drives

those seem to think the translation files arent valid jsons

.... It may be that some of your translation mods decided to run on PyTK for some reason
and it's a bit glitchy (soimetimes i have to reset the chores) but seems to work
I started working on an update, but got stuck on something. Also some of that stuff is part of the game now, and it wasn't at the time the mod came out.
Like in the vanilla game, your spouse will do chores sometimes.

I've seen that be the case before with a couple mods randomly having that in their descriptions but that seems so strange

It's weird that it wouldn't be valid json though since the mod hasn't been updated in years, and it was fine before

yeah.... this and the fact that i do have a few older mods that STILL rely on tmxl/pytk that are required by certian json assets mods to work which makes me agony incarnate sometimes
plus theres one mod that isnt ever gonna be updated and yet i was for a small time friends with that author and i refuse to leave it behind entirely
testing to see if it fixes things by reinstalling one of the ones that wasn't working
"The Chest Dimension" which no believe it or not ISNT broken yet
Also Custom Chores never depended on PyTK so no reason it should work with or without it

how would i do that? ive downloaded stardrop and i dont see any options for that (unless you meant i do that in vortex?)
in vortex if you go into "deployment methods" and its symlink change it to hardlink purge and then redeploy which should fix it then you can have stardrop point towords the mod folder and then it should just fill in the gaps from that
if it doesnt, i suddgest installing a "test" mod with stardrop and then dropping all of the other mods into the folder it creates which should be "Stardrop Installed Mods"
i did this myself and it worked so if you do this exactly like that it should also work for you

also vaq. the user who posted about the bed installed another mod that edited the bed and thought it was that one which is why it was posted there and got no replies
its cause the bed wasnt edited by their mod but another that they downloaded alongside that mod

ok thats me in a nutshell wtf
i literally spent 4-5 days downloading mods
i started on the 17th
and finished downloading on the 20th
(mostly cause i also beat pokemon x and y from the anistar city at the same time) but it normally takes at least 2 days to find and pick out all the mods again if i dont have a backup of my previous mods
since last time i played stardew was in like... april...
im slow and picky when it comes to mods haha. the majority of them come from a collection i found on nexus which works Mostly fine
so i had to also look through everything from that point and after
ah... nexus... collections....
i honestly want to say collections were god aweful during the beta
i was chosen at one point to be part of nexus mods next but i didnt end up using collections like i thought i would because by that time people were withdrawing and being outspoken against that one nexus policy change that ruined the whole reason of collections for me
so i kinda went "why are we doing this again?" sorta thing even though i know it is still useful in some communities

its very possible something isnt being set cause you have too many mods that edit tilesheets and furniture in and of itself
i ran into that once and thats why i removed all those mods and just went with AT instead

also i found the most HILARIOUS mod just now
it ACTUALLY WORKS AS IF YOUR HEAD WAS TILLED DIRT
meaning you can "plant" crop seeds on your head as a hat
and harvest them
and it will regrow too

reinstalling every other mod besides SVE got rid of the translation errors

also if you didnt purge your previous vortex install before doing this that could be why its seeing mods from the wrong location by the by
if you need to, have stardrop redetect your game path. since there is a "Smapi" path, a "Game" path, and a "Mods Install" path which could be incorrectly placed
i think i did but i just saw a rogue vortex file i just deleted
i remember when my hard drive broke i had the issue that stardrop wouldnt correctly detect the mods install path and kept trying to default to the older gone drive location which no longer existed.
booting up via modding exe and then i'll do the redirect
i should report that to the stardrop creator tbh because if the old path doesnt exist anymore it should unlink and make the exe unusable until you fix the pathing successfully
idk if thats feesible though since coding can sometimes break other things unintentionally through conflicting code
