hi! i downloaded east scarp today and also downloaded the new NPC mod nagito but i just cant seem to find him anywhere
on eastscarp fandom its telling me that he lives there on the beach
do i have to trigger any events? or need hearts with anyone specific?
@tired brook I've seen an uptick in the last few days in people with this issue, and this user reported it after updating SMAPI. Of course, it could entirely coincidental graphics driver issues in a handful of users, but I'm wondering if you know anything about why it might be occuring or if this is on your radar.

It's pretty low-level; I don't think it's something SMAPI 3.16.0 would cause, but we could try installing the previous SMAPI version to see if the error goes away then.

What's wrong with the new PyTK?
In the interval between PyTk and TMXL updating, they were incompatible

Also SMAPI stopped disabling its texture performance optimizations for PyTK (since it was tied to a max version). I'll need to release a small SMAPI update which just bumps the workaround to the new version number.

I have these portraits that look great when I open the image, like in photos or paint or something. But once in game they look super pixelated. Is that normal? I tried shrinking my UI, which helps, but I think I'd have to have it at 50% or lower for them to look the same as in photos. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do to fix them. Each individual image/expression is 64x64.

framebuffers are core since 3.0. The game requires 2.1, but cards have supported it for long before that.
Most drivers though allow you to call newer APIs even if you use an older context version (except Apple)
even a crappy iGPU should support that fine

I hope this shows it okay. I'm guessing it's normal though? Like the game scales the images up in size? I just wasn't sure if CP, HD Portraits, or even Portraiture could do something about it with a setting. That's at 100% UI Scale. If I lower that it seems to help a bit. But not much.

I need some help, when I launch the game with smapi the game takes about 15 mins to launch and when I get in game it constantly freezes like making my character, going through doors etc. it won't bug out when I walk around but its really annoying. I cant add any mods into it because I cant get into a game because it just freezes and tells me that smapi isn't responding. is there anything i can do to fix this? I thought it was because of my computer because its not the best out there but I read on reddit that some people had bad computers too and had over 300 mods running smoothly so I don't know what's wrong.

but its not just jio tho, legit in a save where my character is not married to anyone everytime i open my game and try to save by sleeping it happens
if no one else with more knowledge responds, my guess would be that you have the most recent version of PyTK but unfortunately the latest version's scaling abilities have gotten messed up with the update so I thiiink some of your json assets are basically crying foul b/c they can no longer scale correctly

Hey everyone, I've got a question regarding seasonal paths. I have the seasonal flooring and paths by dustbeauty installed, I really like these due to the recolor of them. However there seems to be an issue where, when the seasons change, it randomly reverts some of my AT paths back into seasonal ones. Which means all the paths I placed become patchy and have to be redone. Is there a way to override this?
Not sure myself Kyu. I'm sure there's someone here who knows the solution though.

Hello! Stardew multiplayer keeps crashing on me

I've uninstalled SMAPI and reinstalled SV
I have mods stored in this seperate folder, just so I can easily add them back to Mods when I reinstall SMAPI

Tbh the only crash session for co-op I can think of is;
- You uninstalled your mods incorrectly
- The group has mismatching mods, in this case the host has a mod that you don't have
- Something else funky is going on

You don't have to put your mods back in, just get Smapi back, try to join the co-op session again, then send a log when you crash.
Did you remove your mods folder out of the stardew valley folder entirely? I remember years ago I had even renamed the mods folder and stored it within a folder in the stardew valley folder, this had caused a whole host of issues. I had to move the mods folder entirely out onto my desktop. If you're playing vanilla it's likely best for you to all be using fresh installs. If you're trying to load onto a map that previously contained mods you might need to start a new map.

That's weird, I don't know if I'm reading it right but there's another Stardew valley folder?

That happens when a mod tries to load a null/empty key (e.g. contentPack.ModContent.Load<T>(null)). Content Patcher is supposed to prevent that from happening though, so I'd be interested in a repro content pack if possible.

okay so... i recently downloaded smapi and some mods to go with it... after i did so i tried going into townand i cant... the screen goes comepletely black and smapi gives me a bunch of errors about not being able to load a certain file. i tried verifying the game files integrity but nothing was wrong.... can anyone help i can also show you guys what error i got.

I hate pinging people because I feel like I'm annoying them, but I also don't quite understand how litterbox works and the server is so huge I don't really want to share the link with everyone everyone, y'know? Privacy and all, just on the off chance something goes wonky
Oh, any chance you can trim it to just the mods needed to cause the error (i.e. just Error Handler + Immersive Spouses + the mods it needs)? It's much easier to look into then, since I often can't even run a debugger when there's a lot of Harmony mods installed.
I suggest removing all your mods except Error Handler + Content Patcher + Immersive Spouses, then running the game. If it says it skipped Immersive Spouses due to missing mods, just re-add those ones. Then see if the error still happens then.
If it does, DM me a zip of those mods; if not, post your new log here.

That last error is what worries me since I don't know what that is and having anything with monogame scares me.

Yeah, so you can re-add your custom farm mod, and see if it happens in your normal save. Just don't go to sleep in-game, to avoid saving any removed NPCs/locations.

The only way to get it is by downloading smapi, you can either just reinstall smapi or you can unzip and install just error handler manually (much trickier)
Or you can get error handler from wherever you put it

if you mean the Faithful Weapons errors I believe it's that you have updated PyTK to the latest version but unfortunately that version has broken upscaling which Faithful Weapons requires.
there does seem to be a 16x16 version of FW for people who don't want to use PyTK so you may want to try that one instead

apparently for android users if u copy the obb file inside the folder with com.chucklefish.stardewvalley into a new folder named com.zane.stardewvalley it should work the same way but not for me unfortunately and some android 12 users seemed to have the same problem even though base game is working just fine

Not sure if that helps or not, but for me, there were a couple of permission pop-ups that happen when running the installer that got quickly overridden by other screens, but once I reinstalled it and made sure I caught them all the music started working.
There's media files in there that android tries to block programs from moving due to security reasons.

hello smart folks, i have an issue which is probably caused by some mods, by the crash log it looks like it's SMAPI getting the errors but i'm wondering if there's a mod conflicting with it? would appreciate all the help i can get either way

the game was completely fine until i got outside the farm house on the first day of winter
I don't know if it belongs here, but I used cjb to go back in time one day, but now my game keeps crashing, any suggestions? My mods have been working fine and I didn't add any extra mods since the start of my game play
just checked, now no saves are working? except a new save I just made
i don't know, but have you tried reloading the game and the save? if that doesn't do anything, i guess you could downgrade smapi to the previous version just to test it, since i don't think you have updated any mods recently? resetting game files sometimes solves problems as well

it's a rar file, an archive file like zip, just different format, i don't know how you usually extract those on mac, but it's possible some way for sure
sometimes archives have problems on mac and the like when made on windows though, if you link it i can test it on linux at least

I used cjb to go back a day in time, but then my game crashed and now none of the saves are working. I updated my smapi but it still isnt working. any suggestions? I checked the integrity of the files
Hey, i kinda need help with something. So i recently got the SMAPI Version for my Android and it all worked fine. Now i wanna install SVE and i did everything according to the steps in any tutorial or guide i found, but no matter what i do the DLL for the SAAT Mod wont load, because it is apparently missing. I found out through forums that this is apparently a rather common problem were the Downloader only downloads the source code of the DLL and not the actual file. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

the basic vs. golden scythe is more range, so I'd guess radioactive gives more range beyond that, and perhaps uses less energy?

Hey quick question- im on pc (steam) trying to play with a friend on pc (xbox game pass.) He was able to mod it fine but we cant play co op because he has to open the game through the moddingapi.exe. Tried to rename the moddingapi StardewValley.exe, but in order to launch w mods he has to launch through game files & that doesnt allow him to play co op. Any ideas?

Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.
Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.

Heya, if I am using Adopt'N'Skin but also want to use Elle's dog replacer for a certain dog with a red collar, how do I do that?
atm A'n'S overrides the other replacer in the mod file, (with the author says not to use anyway) so while I can pick the look i want from the /set_skin, theres no collar option.

Hello all. Does anyone have any map mods that go with the one that adds maps instead of replaces them that they suggest? The only one I have so far is Pathoschild's Small Beach Farm, which is great but I love a variety of different farms to choose from.
the bee mod needs to be installed to the custom critters mod folder in a specific way, the nexus page for the bee mod should have instructions. about yellog's i don't know
I think I get what you mean... Elle gives a lot of options but they're overlays and stuff and not part of the original animal skin so it's tricky. I personally would simply merge the dog collar I want with the doggie I want in an image editing programming and then use the new collared dog in AnS. Not sure if there's another way to do it... there miiiight be coding-wise but I feel like it would be trickier/harder to explain/more trial and error 😆

Yeah that would be one way, just replace the black lab asset with a black lab with a red collar asset. though that kind of editing is completely beyond me tbh. Unless I'm doing something wrong I thought I read that having a skin mod in the mods folder would over ride the AnS for that pet? I think I misread that part tbh.
I guess I could get rid of AnS and just have preset animals by Elle, that way I could still have the dog I like just no random animal appearances. Ill have to decide whats more immersive to me. Thanks 🤠
Does the mod have an asset file with pngs in it? Just move that png to the ans skins folder and rename it to use ans formatting
I have tons of skins that weren't "made" for AnS in my AnS skins folder since as long as it's named right and fits the animal's sprite sheet it will work just fine
And as long as it's the only skin for that animal, it won't be randomized really
Not sure how Elle did it tbh, in the re-placer asset the collars and dogs are separate, int he config you can choose which dogs / collars you want
Oh yeah, I know what you mean. Just download the main Elle replacer rather than the AnS version and take the sprite from there instead, but reanme it using the AnS formatting and put it in the AnS skins folder.

The overlay she is using for the BlackLab is Shorthair_Red. Go to photopea.com. Drop the Black Lab asset in. Then take the Shorthair_Red collar and drop it on top. The collar is already designed to perfectly overlap the dog, so after that just save the png (file > export as)
then proceed to Acy's instructions about how to add to AnS
Ah, I see. I was just saying what I did for some other animal skin mods I hadn't done it with elle's dogs specifically though, sorry for misunderstanding 😅 I wouldn't mind (privately) sending you an edited sprite if you can't edit it like Nicole said yourself for whatever reason

Some mods are broken up into multiple frameworks. If you have something like stardew valley expanded, its made of many mods
If theres one main SVE folder, its likely that they were both inside that one and in the overall mods folder
im not sure which of the troubleshoot options worked bc i went with multiple but it's working again!! gonna try and see if i can update to 16.0 now

also Stardew expanded should have all the components it needs in it's folder, you shouldn't have the [SAAT] SVE [TMX] SVE etc in the mods folder

Hi, I'm having a really weird time running SMAPI for the first time on my new computer. I have installed it correctly from a version of SMAPI I have confirmed works on another computer, and then installed it onto my own. It all seems to work up until I run Stardew, where SMAPI loads and says that everything works until Stardew doesn't open. The logs say that everything's working fine, but it doesn't want to open. I've tried reinstalling SMAPI and the mods that come with it to no avail. Does anyone have any advice?
Hmm do you think some mods might make Prismatic Slime not able to spawn? Either that or I have the worst luck, cause not a single one spawned after spending the whole week in the mines.
How long did you wait after smapi stopped spamming new logs? Sometimes it takes a while, especially if you have a lot of mods
alas ima give up on eugene, since it just doesnt work for me atm

Yeri on the smapi installer. there is a bit at the bottom that talks about if you are using steam. there is a command near that. copy it and put it in your launch controls in the steam properties for stardew valley.

a quick test would be to remove all of your mods then see what smapi says then slowly add your mods one by one until the multiple mods thing appears.

i JUST updated a bunch of my mods like, 10 minutes ago . LFM worked fine before i updated my mods, no errors or anything, but now it's giving me that error and i have no clue ... what happened to break it KJHDSJK

Some mods require other mods to work. On Nexus, each mod will tell you what other mods (if any) are needed for them to work.
First time modding can be quite confusing at first

so it looks like pytk was the issue . the problem now is that i can’t use the version of pytk that worked with LFM or else TMXL breaks

it tells me which mods is duplicated but ive checked and its only one folder of each.. also none of the furniture mods i have will work
Check the manifest in both those folders. See if the unique ID is the same

hi all :) i have a question about overrides. as i understand it, the game will just load the first texture override it finds, right?. so that means i can have several overrides of the same items? ive gone and deleted some duplicate overrides so the ones i prefer will show up no matter what, but i may have missed some so i'm wondering if it will cause issues
What do you mean by overrides? You mean like world recolors or...?
like for example, of food textures, crops, gems etc

If you have two mods that are trying to use the same thing, they will cancel each other out and neither will load. But if they change different things, you should be okay. If that makes sense.
If you mean the PPJA stuff, last I heard the DGA versions are bugged to heck.

Hey, guys. I have a question. I recently downloaded Stardew Valley VERY Expanded on Nexus, but once I start up the game, no mods are running. I've installed json stuff and SMAPI, but it seems like they aren't binding to the game, even though it says theyre enabled in Vortex.
lots of people usually say vortex is bad and buggy here

You have to actually install SMAPI to install the mods. No idea how Vortex does it, but SMAPI a mod loader, not a mod itself. You install it first, then you put the mods in the generated mods folder, easier than using a manager imo.

If you launch the original exe (StardewValley.exe instead of StardewModdingAPI.exe) then yes that is the original game and not SMAPI
But when I launch the StardewModdingAPI, it just types what I put in the log and doesn't actually start the game

It's not responding. I think I just need to wait or uninstall those duplicates

You have SVE, RSV, and ES
And also...lmao collections are so new I put zero stock into them being acclaimed or not

Mine takes about 25 minutes to load all three, but my computer is not for gaming.
My computer takes about 5 minutes as a relatively powerful MacBook
that's still an unusually long time

Better chests is annoying me too, I mean it works, but for some reason filters turn on randomly for no reason on tab change and they cannot be disabled..
better chests creator is actively working on mod and really good about fixing things as they come up
