Oh ive found the problem already hah i just switched what graphics card to use when running the game
I am trying to use SMAPI for the first time. Everything is pathed right, but my game version is too high. Is there a way around this or should I just until the mods and SMAPI? I can't find a more updated SMAPI then I have already. I tried doing the compatibility deal as well. Same message.

Alternative textures seems pretty fun I kinda want to put all of my textures from adopt n skin in but it seems like quite a bit of work.
there's an example pack in the optional files
Part of me was thinking of adding the ones to Ellie’s.
I downloaded both the old and new coop and barns but it only seems to work with one
if you use the example pack, you just need to remove the folders you aren't using and then add the texture image, which is all of the textures you want for that object in one image, vertically

Well when I look at the coop animals it only shows the new coop animals though I downloaded both the old and new content packs.
hi all, so i have a small mod problem, i have got mod 'flavorful cow' and for some reason its not been working since last smapi update. I have looked through the code as its not been updated since its release and I can't see anything wrong but I'm not an expert. I wish the farmhand cabins had alternatives.
If the NPC comes with any custom items, make sure to trash all of them
I divorced them, got rid of all the children and removed any custom items but it still seems to have an error

apologies if someone already answered you and I missed it. So while I haven't used this version of DL's expanded house, I have used version 1. My initial guess is that you haven't added the necessary farmhouse_tiles png. I believe DL leaves them out so that users can basically use whatever bathroom them want. If you scroll down, you'll find DL links to one option which you can find here: https://blog.naver.com/sxdcdc/222182786795. I believe you'll need to pop this png into the assets folder

hii, i recently put some new furniture packs into my game, but this caused my already existing decorations to change. i wouldn't really mind this, but the items kept the original names, like for example, the junimo plush i had turned into a little plant house, but its still named "junimo plush" and i was wondering if theres a way to fix this?

It's basically saying you don't have the mod that has those items. You can ignore them. I get the same thing cause I don't have the mod installed

We tried to change host
We exchanged our steam accounts
And she hosted from my account
Buuut, ping didn’t disappear, and now I have ping , instead of her

yep, if you open up the house mod folder there's another folder inside called "assets"
i did that but everything is in tmx, do i still pop it into here?

On the mod page for NPC Map Locations (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/239?tab=description) there's a screenshot that shows the ability to change config values in-game. I cannot find this anywhere. Where is it? It's not in the Mod Options menu. I have Generic Config Menus.
When your map is open, you should be able to open the menu with Tab

Search for a villager's name instead, maybe like Abigail in your mod list, then right click on it > open file location

you could merge the assets with an image editing program. that's what I did when I wanted a different kitchen to go with the bathroom for DL's first expansion 🙂 I remember being unable to get the separate CP kitchen to actually override farmhouse tiles in DL's--even with a false dependency I don't think it worked so I ultimately just merged them together (sorry it's me again 😂 )

smapi doesn't even pinpoint the mod, it just tells me SMAPI fixed maps loaded by this mod to prevent errors. See the log file for details.

So I recently transferred from adopt n skin to alternate textures which is super nice, but I’ve got a few skins that weren’t in Ellie’s farm animals packs I downloaded how difficult is it to make my own packs? I need both the skins and a file name as well.
I’ll take a look at it. I had something like 50 skins for most of the farm animals
I might be remembering wrong, but I vaguely remembering reading somewhere a few months ago that even depotdownloader doesn't work to get old versions anymore.
It only doesn't work if the issue is that your MacOS is too old
Or more broadly, if your computer can't run .NET 5.0
Some people have issues that are more like "the game hates my graphics drivers"

is there a way in files to check what files i recently put in
so i can move them out to check which ones mess it up
so ive run into this problem where everytime my girlfriend enters the area I am currently at, the game freezes and every animation done leaves like a still image? kinda thing, hard to describe. I'd still recommend starting with updating all the mods that need updating and see if the issue still happens. That will help narrow down potential causes

as said its a problem that hasnt been fixed no matter what we updated, we updated before and it persisted heavily, then deleted a good portion of mods still lasted. There's only so much I can keep trying to update and pray it fixes it :(

Again, I'd just update everything, because at this point you don't know what's causing it. It's possible one of the updates you have yet to install would fix the issue, in which case troubleshooting for something else would not be helpful.
And if after updating everything the issue persists, that's something that can be ruled out

my games keep getting deleted
just wary causwe last time we updated things, it broke even more. That problem now was caused by an update from months ago, went through all mods and compatabilities, nothing changed, only got worse. But Ig I'll just have to figure it out

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

hi! i need some help so i'm trying here since i didn't get anything from searching this discord or on google. i use gh peach body and i can't seem to get it to work with vanilla skin tones?
i'd like to not use the skin tones that come with the mod since my farmer is darker skinned and all the skin tones included with the mod are fair only, but when i un-checked the skintones option in the mod menu/config it does nothing and also bugs the sleeves that come with the mod, the sleeve colors don't change and just stay red (that's the bug with the sleeves).
nothing in my smapi log about conflicts or overwrites and the old version of the mod i have from before its latest update works completely fine, so i know it's likely an assets thing? like the skintones that come with the mod. but i tried replacing them with vanilla in its own folder, and nothing. maybe someone here can help me? i'd really appreciate it. thanks a lot for reading!
if the mod has a separate file with only the skintones, you can try deleting it i guess

Hello, does having different mod groups mean that I can manage which mods will be applied to certain saves? I’m sorry if this is obvious, my brain doesn’t work for this kind of stuff lol
well, they just let you launch the game easily with different mod setups, so you need to still select the correct save

depending on your android device's specs there might just not be much you can do. You could disabled SVEs custom music.
yesterday i came here with a problem that needed some lookin into but was told to update my mods, updating made smapi load only 150 instead of 237 mods for some reason, so i went back to my unupdated stuff that didnt break anything. Either way, ofc the old problem still exists and idk if anyone is willing to look into that despite not everything being updated since that only made it worse
It used to run very smoothly tho. The lag on startup just happened out of the blue but how do i disable custom music? Maybe that's the problem
the mods not loading is smapi version + mod version mismatches probably. updating smapi should fix it mostly, if not, you can send a log here
everything is entirely updated, i went back to my old versions since they work and the new ones dont. There isnt really a log because it doesnt crash it shows everything as working fine
the problem that needs fixing is smth that has been persistent since january, no matter if updated or not it keeps happenign on 2 specific parts in town. Hopefully we can fix it tho ... after naother 6 months of trying
If you havn't added/change any mods it could just be that another unrelated android app was updated/installed/running in the background eating into your system resources. So you could also check what other software you have running and see if that's eating up any memory usage.
You can stop mods from loading by the putting a dot . in front of the folder which turns it into a hidden folder/file and SMAPI wont load it.

So, is there that much difference between a loadout and stardrop? Bc I'm finding stardrop very finicky and a bit too much to use.

it says in the description that one event is not implemented yet so that might be it
nothing you can do about it unfortunately unless you manually convert the event from the old mod
also you weren't really specific in what was wrong.
I've not looked at their files but it's just a bug in their event syntax. Only think you can do is manually fix the event yourself or report it and wait.

Some of the older frameworks like PyTK can be laggy. Ask around in #modded-stardew for alternatives if you don't want to cut out those mods entirely.

I have to say I am kinda surprised there isn’t a mod that creates a storage container that functions like the cabinet but is for weapons and tools.
There's actually a whole lot of fiddly logic for dressers

Iirc, there's a few hundred C# mods, while there's a few thousand content pack mods
So any given idea is not terribly surprising to be not covered already

If I had any modding ability I’d try but hell I’m intimidated to try to make my own content pack for alternative textures.

hey, I got a response from the creator of Stardew Progress on the issue I'm having with the mod crashing due to removing PPJA mods mid-save. They said
Sorry - I'm away from home/my PC at the moment - I misread the log as being a key-bind issue rather than an index key issue. This error is caused by the 'recipesCooked' part of the save file. It contains a list of the items you've previously cooked (by ID) and the items no longer exist in your game. The error is something I can patch, but won't be for a few weeks. In the meantime, you can re-edit the save file to remove the offending indexes but might be a bit of a slog to work through them. In the first instance you'll need to get rid of the item with ID 666 but there could well be quite a few others.
so just search the save file for 666?
or is there another place to look for the item IDs?

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

PPJA's author retired, so it's in flux
Eventually it will be taken over by Pathos, but he's...pathos so he's very busy

DGA eliminates the biggest JA bug, the json shuffle
I figured a mod like that is too important to let it become defunct and unusable
It also is very powerful and flexible, but since PPJA originally only took advantage of JA features it's not as exciting to have that mod specifically in DGA
Idk, PPJA is massive but the author retiring puts a big wrench in any upkeep

I can see that many people enjoy it, but I think that it will be a bit before it's supported again
Long-term I think it will be fine, but in the short term it's a bit iffy
DGA also has other benefits for mods that aren't PPJA, like handling furniture
It makes getting 100% impossible though lol.
DGA is one of the best options out there for furniture imo, especially if you want new furniture as opposed to retexturing existing ones
Yeah, I just frustration-deleted about 20 PPJA Artisan mods today because they just were not working the way they were supposed to, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get them to act right.
I have to admit the amount of content and flexibility the mods all of the authors have done is impressive

But I never went to the DGA versions
the dga versions are hella buggy so not recommended
dga has an issue with mail framework so you just get empty mail instead of recipes

I thought I'd come up with a work-around for it, and it did work, to an extent -- in that I got something at the bottom of the letter instead of nothing -- but it was all code garbage.
to be clear, DGA items do work with MFM, but the conversion was done incorrectly due to MFM not having that functionality at the time of the conversion
So the converted ones all do not work
But ones created by hand do

So, this is probably a commonly reported issue, but I suspect it's related to my using the Free Love, Hugs and Kisses, and Wedding Tweaks mods by aedenthorn. Lately, I've noticed that both of my partners will show up on the map as being at my farm. One of them is easily located, but the other one is nowhere to be found. I can look all over the place, and they aren't there. And it's always the same one. The last time I played, I saw that particular sprite walk through the farmhouse wall, get the question emoji over their head, and then quick-walk through the rest of the farmhouse walls and off into the void to Yoba-knows-where! Is there a fix for this? Is this a known bug? What gives?

Incidentally, when I looked at the SMAPI log to see if it threw up an error, there was one related to a Calendar mod that I'm using, but the error message didn't make any sense to me.
It's the spawning in the void or in the walls that I'm most concerned about, honestly.

They started in their spouse room in the morning, I went outside and did some stuff on the farm proper, and then when I came back inside, they were stuck in a wall and confused. It was upsetting.
do you have decorations on those part where they are stuck?
i think one of the guidelines from poly romances need some part of farmhouse not occupied by decoration
Hm. Meaning, there can't be any decoration in the spouse rooms themselves, or that there needs to be a part of the farmhouse that just isn't decorated at all?
Because where they were stuck, it was a room with a fireplace in it. That's it.
as far as i remember yeah. but specifically just for spouse area and entrance going to kitchen
but you can try redecorating if it improves.

I'll try moving some lamps around and see if that improves things. Those are the only decorations that might be interfering with their walking paths and causing them to wander into the void.

did you do the SMAPI install steps? you have to launch SDV without SMAPI first, then copy and run the batch file for SMAPI, get the launch option string to copy for steam

yeah, i’ve used the launch through steam before too and it worked, it’s just not working now
try removing SMAPI thru SMAPI installer (uninstall option), revalidating content files (verify file integrity) and reinstalling SMAPI. mods folder shouldnt be touched.
if theres some left over after uninstall, its likely running on background for some reason. so double check
if you do, reapply any XNB mods you applied in case

Hi Im having a bit of trouble installing stardew valley expanded I have a mac os and I've installed all the mods needed for it to work as well as added it to the correct location (~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Stardew Valley/Contents/MacOS/Mods) but on smapi this error log shows up, does anyone know how to fixe it or what i could be doing wrong?

If you're using Steam or GOG on Windows, you will need to set your launch options in order for Steam/GOG to automatically launch with SMAPI. i recall last year xbox game pass have recently launched SDV , following suit is geforce now
im not surprised as SDV is pretty popular and easy to host on cloud
since cloud services are hosted services, i do not think you will be able to apply mods .
BUT there is a way
hosting your own server
and connecting to it
then your mods should be applied to your server

in the red section, it lists out a bunch of mods that seem to be giving you trouble b/c they're empty folders, have missing manifests, etc. so you'll want to go through that list first and try reinstalling them.
Is it normal for smapi to make the graphics bad if you havent added any mods yet?

Looks like you have quite a few mods that need to be updated. Also, you have a whole list there that seems to be installed incorrectly.

The updates are in the big yellowish square that says you should update them. The unloaded ones are about half way down your log.

im abit confused on why my game is so choppy at 325 mods when i used to be able to play with around 400-500 mods with no issues

(You may already realize this but this grass path is just a replacement for the gravel to match VPR's color scheme. It's not the whole recolor. I didn't see VPR in your log earlier, so just wanted to make sure you weren't expecting your game colors to match VPR without it being installed)
this is what it looks like for me, it just started doing this the other day (no change in mods between when it was fine to when it started) it was working fine before

well when the lagging started i was in the middle of playing already, and i hadnt added or removed anything in the time of playing, one of the days i woke up on a rainy day and it just became super choppy (like in the video)
i have no clue what caused it but i tried restarting my game and everything but it was still choppy
does the logs say anything while that happens

could be that youre running out of memory? But that would usually spam errors in the log

well, this may seem like a long and bad process but this is what i personally do
i take all the mods out, and put groups of them in, test them out, to see which group of mods is causing the problem

is there maybe a way to just clear a cache of the game? or maybe not have so much in my log parse out every day?

Hey, I'm the mod author and I'm working on this. The Gunther thing is easy to fix (he wasn't ever invisible/off the map -- he was just stuck on the right side of the museum where he goes to sleep each night). I'm looking into removing Marlon from the relationships tab but that might not be possible, unfortunately.
do any of these have a non-pytk version (for the ones that need pytk)
life cycle updated to cp, custom furniture can be converted to dynamic game assets or alternative textures, blanche has a cp version, portraiture can be converted to hd portraits
custom farming redux is also just very outdated
is anyone getting outdoor farm lag after updating to the newest version of smart building?
some expansion mods have switched from tmxl to CP, you can use HD portraits instead of portraiture, you can use alternative textures instead of CF, and I think cfr was superceded by another mod
lux's food mod cant be converted as theres no pytk replacement for things other than portraits afaik
could probably report this to DecidedlyHuman or ask in #modded-stardew

Hey @true dock, sorry to bother you, but in LoC, the object.json files for Egg Sandwich, Salad Sandwich, and Seafood Sandwich has the categories as junk rather than Cooking
I haven't looked into LoC, but actually for C# JA mods, registering your items as "Junk" and then editing them later to be what they should be is a common enough tactic
it's how I deal with all of the fertilizers in More Fertilizers
if you change the category to Cooking that should take care of the null problem/inability to cook them
fair enough, but the junk categorization in this case seems to be causing issues with being able to cook them
figure i should let blueberry know so i'm not having to remember to edit the files every time there's an update 😅

I think a pretty cool but presumably difficult to make mod would be one which makes it possible to place buildings on the island farm.
Wait until the next major game release to ask for that, there's a very long technical explanation of why that would cost someone dearly in sanity at the moment
The only existing buildings framework explicitly doesn't cover that rn
Basically, "BuildableGameLocation" is different from "GameLocation", and that makes it hurt to try to build buildings off the farm, is the very high-level explanation as I understand it
