It allows us to hijack the games main code and change it to do what we want. But it can crash without us knowing that our mod is the problem
kinda a dumb question but tldr starting multiplayer save trying to get them to download as few mods as possible , if the host has PFM and PFMautomate (for better quality more seeds) does everyone need those installed ?

Now he loves magic rock candy (he did anyway because it's a generic love but I guess the gift machine wasnt having a bar of that).

Hey all, so i just got my steam deck and put SMAPI on it for expanded and using SMAPI(without expanded or any other mods) has decreased my battery life by over half of what it was before. Like the thing dies in an hour vs the 6-8 it would last with base game. Anyone know why this is/how to fix
it has to do a lot more work in the background but from 6 hours to 1 hour seems excessive. Is SVE and it's dependencies the only mod you have running?
and are you running the native Linux build or running the Windows version via Proton?
I havent ran it with those yet but That's all I plan on playing with
For SMAPI installed the Linux version. As far as stardew goes It would be whichever one steam defaults to
I just know that it used to use 6 watts and even with TDP limiter at 7 it doesnt drop below 12 watts and sits at 20 with TDP limiter off

the link above that atravita posted, shows it's a known issue. But as Pathos doesn't own a SteamDeck he can't look into at the moment. You can try to do you're own tweaks to lower power usage tho.

Looks like you have multiple copies of the game. That screenshot is from your C:\ drive, but the log is for a game running from your D:\ drive.

Yeah, that's a normal Vortex thing.
Next can you do this?
- Open a command prompt (you can search 'command prompt' in the start menu to open one).
- Enter these exact commands:
D:
cd "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods\FestivalWarps"
dir
- Post a screenshot of what it shows.
You'll need to enter all three commands (D: is a command too), one per line.
first one moves you to D:
second one changes the directory to that location..
third one lists the contents of that directory.
Can you go to that folder path in square brackets (the one starting with C:\users\), and post a screenshot of the FestivalWarps folder if it exists? If it doesn't exist, can you post a screenshot of the closest folder that does?
That seems to be a different folder. You'll need to go to C:\Users\blaze\AppData\Roaming, instead of C:\Users\blaze\Downloads. (The AppData folder might be invisible, but you can paste that directly into the address bar to open it.)

@stable cargo We looked into one of the manifest is invalid cases (see discussion above). The symlink is valid and points to a file that exists, but the file just contains a bunch of null characters. Seems like Vortex is corrupting the file somehow?

As for Stardew Valley Expanded not loading, that seems to be because it's in the wrong folder (under C:). You'll need to put it in your game folder under D:, or try installing it through Vortex.

hi friends. Halfway through spring. It's only rained once. Multiple times I've tried (always entering from the bus stop between 8 and 1) to get the community center cutscene to trigger. Is anyone aware of a mod which opens the community center from day 1 or perhaps a debug command I can use to force the cutscene with lewis? Thanks

Just use the cheat menu so u can unlock the community center
in case you've not done it before you type the command in the smapi window, not the game chat
this is pretty common in heavily modded games in my experience. It stops responding on black screen and if you click off it will get like a pale overlay and your cursor will be the loading symbol? If that’s what you’re experiencing, stop closing it. It will probably take a little to load. Or try less mods.

Vortex (Nexus) and ModDrop both are mod managers that can help you keep your mods up to date. However, they can cause bizarre issues and are difficult to troubleshoot. If you're looking for a mod manager that was written specifically for SDV and has troubleshooting logs built in, you can try Stardrop (!stardrop).
If you're using a non-Stardrop mod manager and ask for help troubleshooting, we probably can't help you if the issue is related to the mod manager. You can try asking the mod manager servers for help instead. If you're using Stardrop, please remember to provide a Stardrop log.
I have 11 mods and my cursor dosent get like that... I only have a black screen and unresponsive
are you clicking by any chance while your game is loading?
if not then it shouldn't do that unless you are using a broken mod

Stardrop didn’t work for me, it acted like my SMAPI didn’t exist
then you probably set it up incorrectly, stardrop is designed specifically for stardew valley and it asks for a path for the smapi file. maybe there was a mishap there
@stable hornet That error probably happens if Stardew Valley Expanded's assets/Dependencies.json file is missing or corrupted (based on https://github.com/FlashShifter/StardewValleyExpanded/blob/master/Code/Third Party/RSV/InstallationChecker.cs#L75).

you have to find the exact path of the file stardrop is asking you to find
if you don't know how to do it a google search will be more helpful than me explaining it to you cause i'm not good with words
but yeah avoid using vortex and moddrop, they create unusual bugs

stardrop should work for you, it has minimal issues as it was designed specifically for this game and it is easier to troubleshoot even if something pops up
Yeah vortex is being annoying, I just wanted to have some of my mods back but vortex is being extra weird. It worked the first time until my first game disappeared haha

my general advice is not using mod managers at all since manually downloading everything is the easiest way to find what's wrong if there is something wrong to begin with

it's okay, mishaps can happen especially when you're new to modding or rushing it. but usually if the mods are up to date there shouldn't be an issue

there is nothing visibly wrong with your log or any out of date mods that could indicate your game crashing, are you sure you're letting your game load?
the game becoming unresponsive doesn't mean it has crashed
mine becomes unresponsive while it's loading
try and let it load for max 30 minutes (even though it shouldn't take that long but just giving an example)
chances are your loadtime is just really big
cause raffadax is a huge content mod and depends on what you're running sdv on, certain mods can increase loadtimes
Hello! I have a couple of questions, I am using the BFAV mod but some of the animals won't load in the game like for example bears or squirrels. Does anyone know of a way to make them work? And also I am looking for more variety of animals to add outside of the ones already in nexus mods, is there another page where I can download them from?
have you gotten the latest unofficial bfav update? and are you playing on a mac by chance?
Yes I have the 3.2.4 update, and I am playing on windows
then i think the issue lies on the creators of the bfav animals
since it's being unofficially maintained for the last few years slight changes have been made and some content packs for it aren't working properly or at all

Any idea why my game sometimes freezes at the end of the day, when either loading a major event (ex. minecarts restored) or when trying to load the profits/categories screen?

Could this just be a hardware issue? I've noticed recently that my computer won't open certain apps including settings and Clip Studio Paint and snipping tool, and although it runs other games fine, this keeps happening with Stardew. I've tried a system restore too, but no luck.

okay, now logs are pretty easy to read if you know what to look for
it lists the mods that need updating up top, clear enough. and some mods are missing manifest.json files it seems. most of them are empty folders, and some are outdated or not compatible. get dressed mod is missing another mod it needs to run, and you have multiple copies of part of the community, along with pregnancy and birth events mod

That is the correct event id, and if it's not found, then that is why it's not playing. However the question why is the event not found. I can only assume you have a mod that has done something with it, intentionally or unintentionally.
if it's just a second, then it's probably just loading whatever it has to.
some delay when using lookup anything is expected i'd say, but the Profiler mod might show what is causing the lag when just opening the inventory https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12135 (load the save, open the inventory few times and the log should have whatever information profiler got)

The only mod that I know makes any changes to the CC that is new to my list would be bank of ferngill so that might be what I need to look at. The only two mods that seem to make any mention of the event code are SVE and Producer Framework Example Content Pack
both of which only mention the event as being a requirement for other things to trigger

So whatever is in the Natural Color-1213-9-0-324324234 folder needs to be copied up to the top level

Most mods run fine on Linux; it should be almost 100% parity with Windows. The save format is the same across Windows and Linux, so I'd assume cloud sync works crossplatform but not sure.
and if there is some obscure mod that is windows only that you can't live without, you can always use use Proton to run the Windows version of SV on Linux
although have been some reports that running current versions of SMAPI on the Steam Deck increases power usage a lot.

Working theory is the file downloaded from Nexus Mods may have been corrupted.
they did originally have multiple mods that all came up as "manifest not found" but the one last night was the only one left. Could ask when they are back to try to redownload another mod and see what happens.

if it reverted your save then possibly. You can launch without Steam, But I don't mess with my save files.

remember to unzip the smapi installer into your downloads folder and run the program from your downloads folder, you don't need to put the smapi zip into your stardew directory
you need to extract the zip
into...
then move the folder into your mods directory
extract the zip into your downloads folder (or wherever you saved it) then move the resulting folder into your mods folder
you might get a ping from pickysaurus to look at your vortex folder

Ah, this only applies to players using Vortex. If you're manually installing you just extract the ZIP files into the "Mods" folder

For mods most, yeah.
So you should have Stardew Valley/Mods/SomeModFolder/manifest.json for most of them.
The "SomeModFolder" bit you extract from the file you downloaded.
Tools like Vortex (and Stardrop) do the installing part for you, but they are optional.

You're getting a Nulled exception, It could be one of two mods, Animal Produce Expansion or AnimalHusbandry

You could, just follow the direction there, and hit trace. It will show you if there's hidden info in the log file

You could delete then, but the error will most likely come back.
You either need to figure out what is causing the null, or notify the mod author of the issue.

Most likely you messed up while editing the file. You can tell for sure, if you revert to the older save and try loading that.

Hi all, wanted to jump in and ask what everyone’s experience modding on the steam deck was like? I just got one today and wanted to set it up to run all the mods my pc uses so that I can go back and forth
When playing co op and putting two starter cabins why is it only one cabin has the mod we both put but the other doesnt, are we supposed to share one cabin?

Probably easier to do it manually. You could use Stardrop as that works fine on Linux

That's a known error with that mod

you could fix that manually by looking at the tilesheet and seeing what the correct size/numbers should be and editing the content.json file yourself

If the cook button doesn't show up (you'll know it when you see it) then chances are you don't have all the ingredients - check the list of ingredients on the recipe page and see if any are greyed out or in red, which shows that you're missing some or don't have enough plates to use yet
Some authors remove that option, in the case there’s nothing you can do
(You get more plates by upgrading your frying pan at Clints)
I’m guessing they removed it because they’ve been having issues with lack of having asked for asset permissions

If it’s for space that is probably reasonable, but it’s possible that it could have lower performance when it’s on an external drive
However, most mods are small
Unless you have only a few GB left on your drive you can probably download a ton of mods without running out of space
I currently have just over 100... if I have to... I will move everything else to the external
fwiw, you're going to be then probably limited by the transfer rate of the drive

hey blueberry! I'm having this weird issue. I removed PPJA mods mid save to focus on Raffadax and that broke Stardew Progress. apparently the PPJA recipes aren't removed from the save file, while the crafting items are. Stardew Progress kept trying to look for recipes that weren't there. so I manually edited my save file to remove the PPJA recipes. the one item left is blueberry.cac.redberrypie and I'm flummoxed
Which bit is confusing?
Blueberry translates recipes in LoC, so that’s the internal name for what I can only assume is red berry pie

red berry pie isn't in the assets folder for LoC. I removed that item string and it's still being flagged
when I tried to run stardew progress again and saw one last recipe missing, I thought I accidentally removed it from the save file, so I put it back in. I went back and looked at my other logs - the red berry pie has been in there since I started having this issue with stardew progress and PPJA. so I removed it again, reloaded, went to bed then ran SP when I woke up and still having this issue. oh btw, I had to set steam to run offline because the steam cloud restored the save file I had edited

in any case the pie should be added only alongside the cooking skill, since it's a level up reward, so disabling the cooking skill temporarily should prevent it from ever trying to edit the pie

I'm having trouble with using Atracore on my steam deck, it keeps crashing with the same message terminate called after throwing an instance of 'pal_sehexception. it works on my windows PC perfectly fine. fwiw, I remember looking into the code, and it was pretty hardcoded to vanilla spouses
and I don't recall a fallthrough event for custom spouses

I've crafted every single thing on the game, but the perfection still 99% for craftables. Any solution?
All i was trying to was update SDV - Expanded and it said it was having issues with JA, FTM, and SAAT so i uninstalled and re-installed/updated all of those and im getting the same error message. Can anyone maybe translate for me?? thank you <33

I accidentally clicked yes when Lyell asked me if I wanted a child, in-game "last night". had i been paying attention I would have clicked no because I want Lucikiel child sprites. I've restarted my save several times today with troubleshooting and I have this new to me pregnancy mod...so the third spouse WHO IS NOT THE FATHER, accompanied me to Harvey's to find out I'm not just sick. (I'm about to see this event for the fourth time today since it starts as soon as I leave the farmhouse) Lucikiel, first spouse. Lyell, second. Jasper, third. I was distracted when I was clicking through the first playthrough of today and turned back to the computer screen to find Jasper next to me in the clinic for the news. Jasper is so sweet.
There's a few mods for tracking perfection, I think one of them should be able to tell you which the game thinks is missing
If not, there's always Perfection Tweaks

Im confused because for instance its says that im missing "flashshifter.ja" which i take as Jason Assets, so updated JA, right? except its still saying its missing the "flashshifter" thingy and im so lost lol
i was troubleshooting with fellowclown because I couldn't see Lyell's married dialogue. if you're a member of clown's server, look in bug reports if you get bored anytime soon, don't have to scroll up much to see the exchange

it comes with like 5 subfolders

I haven't had issues with marriage dialogue with multiple custom npcs but I was using multiple spouses not free love. Sometimes it's just one day that's not working.

ahhh sorry but i went through the troubleshooting link below and im still not understanding what i need to do to fix this problem 
i again tried uninstalling and reinstalling SVE but im getting the same issue so obviously im doing the same thing wrong but for the life of me, my user error skills are unfortunately god tier 😭

did you install smapi? you get the game path in the output in the installer window
for the love cooking mod they only have 5 plates for the ingredients slots but some recipes have more ingredients then that..what do i do?
