dump it on deskstop and install it from there

hi so i downloaded some mods today, and when i open a game i couldnt load my saves or start a new game. It just wont load. So i deleted all mods that i downloaded today and every "turned off" mod, but it still doestn work. Do u guys maybe have any idea what i can do?

save creation will take a long time if you have expansion mods installed
you may need to wait up to ten or so minutes
they shouldve cos we fixed aurora vineyard. and fixing that requires 10 hearts with apples

Okay cannot see anything untoward. Reinstall smapi so error handler updates. I also think you can delete pytk as I'm not sure you need it.

Download latest smapi installer and run it again. You don't have to uninstall the old one. For mods, check on smapi console if there's update available to any mods you install. Then go to mod website to download the latest veraion of the mod and put it on mod folder

yes, that's generally best. sometimes updates will add new items and stuff and not deleting the old version can cause something called json shuffle

Have added some medieval graphical mod with the pastal recolour and my game super freaks out on every day start so if i click it stops responding and crashes but if i dont click seems to work, was running perfectly fine before any idea?

Can I disable graphic mods mid save?
So i am using stardrop to play SVE. However, SVE and grandpa's farm is not actually being applied to my game. I downloaded everything using stardrop and have all the required extra mods.
My smapi doesn't have any errors and shows that all the mods loaded properly.

hey my friend has been having issues with smapi in specific, even with 0 mods installed to begin with, it takes like 5-10 minutes to load, but just yesterday was loading just fine. does anyone know of this issue or how to help it? i can post a log, im not entirely sure where to find that though

Hello, im really new to using mods so if someone is able to help me i'd really appreciate it, i've been using the same mods for about a week and a half with no issue, but the past 2 days i haven't been able to get smapi to launch the game at all but everything seems ok otherwise?
i put mods with [CP] at the beginning INTO the Content Patcher Folder which i placed IN my mods folder... right?
as long as the CP mods and the Content Patcher are all in the mods folder, i don't think they have to be inside the content patcher folder, they worked for me before just all being in the Mods folder
So just the vanilla game launches?
If you put the [CP] Mods into the Content Patcher folder, then they will not load. SMAPI will only load one mod from each folder. So they each have to be in their own folder under Mods.
I've had the same problem kinda as Rosie. I was using modrop and swapped to stardrop. I reinstalled all the mods for SVE using Stardrop from nexus mods. When booting up the game I get the option to choose grandpa's farm as a starting farm, however it actually just spawns me in vanilla SDV farm. My smapi doesn't show any errors and shows that all the mods loaded properly.

Does anyone know why a AT flooring mod would change random tiles back to vanilla when I close the game down and reopen it? I can fix it with the paintbrush but really don't want to have to do that every time I open the game. I was advised to turn off "use random textures when placing" in the mods config menu but that didn't work. It's not an issue when placing it, just loading it. Like screenshot, all the tiles were the dark blue when I closed the game but now just some have reverted back to gray.

You should paint the tiles, go to bed (save), and then grab your log to see if anyone shows up in there which may indicate what's happening

One thing I see in your logs is you should reinstall SMAPI. When you install it automatically adds ErrorHandler to the game which fixes some issues. Your log says it is missing.

Yours looks fine, but if you think it could be a vanilla game issue, it may be worth trying a reset which just validates all the game files

Make sure you grab the actual log file. Copy+Paste from the console cannot be parsed, so it will not automatically recommend fixes for you when you upload to the log website.

How are you installing SMAPI? Do you run the installer downloaded from NexusMods or https://smapi.io
This time I did it from nexus mods, and put it through stardrop.
The first time i did it from smapi.io
I mean though, you double click the install SMAPI on Windows file?
Because you can try a clean installation (uninstall and reinstall) just to make sure everything gets loaded
Oh and I guess if you're using Stardrop, make sure ErrorHandler is checkmarked too

It's just called ErrorHandler, and it's not one you can download on its own. SMAPI should automatically install it to your Mods folder.

So I got it working now! thank you guys, im not sure of exactly what fixed it tho
couldnt launch it vanilla so did the verify files things and it came up fine, so i just tried restarting my computer again, and then it started up normally and also when i put it through smapi again
i downloaded a sailor scouts scarecrow mod but its being covered by another mod or idk
what do i do to make the sailor scout visible, its hiding behind the original

Yeah, run it from there and then once it lists out the farm types, try set_farm_type and the name of the farm, and see if that resets it for you

Are you launching the game from Stardrop?
I think for Stardrop's enabled/disabled mods and modgroups to work, you need to actually run from Stardrop

I am confused as to what you mean by leaving, sorry. That appears to be the Stardrop folder for enabled mods (which are just links to the actual mods), so they likely have Custom Music installed and enabled.
If they have a Stardrop log, I could better determine any possible issue.

They have both the [cm] and [saat] dirs for sve
Stardrop doesn't delete any mods unless the user explicitly does so via Stardrop (or the user uninstalls by deleting them from the system).
That folder with the symbolic links is always (or should always) automatically cleared with each run of SMAPI via Stardrop.
(Based on assumption, it seems they still have CM still installed and enabled. It is hard to tell without a log).
Okay, disable the cm directory for sve
So is it possible to have both the old and new version of SVE installed at the same time in Stardrop?
And you can remove custom music entirely
Because SVE installs as a bundle of mods, [CM] is an artifact of the older version, and [SAAT] is an artifact of the newer version

You could have both versions, but Stardrop will only show one in its UI as it uses the UniqueId of the manifest to gather and display mods. I believe it should display the latest version if multiple are detected, but it may be first matched.

@oblique jay I tried to help with this one, but nothing sticks out in the logs. Seems like modData is not persisting when the game reloads for some floor tiles.
It seems like it might be the same floor tiles each time too? It's always that one spot I screenshot and it seems the path I have in another spot always does it too. But I've been redoing a lot so it's hard to tell on other spots
I wonder if that's a patched area of the house. So maybe it's getting reloaded and loses the texture you set.

That may be relevant, but I'm not sure. If it is the same spot over and over again, that's probably an important detail.

You install it to your mod folder, and if it depends on another mod you have to install that one too
Depending on the Portrait, it may indicate what other mods are needed
Hm, I am unsure what the issue could be. It is odd that it is just those tiles, since if AT fails it should fail for everything (or at least everything of the same type, such as flooring). If I could have your save file it would help, as I can test to see if it is replicable.

If the mod was implemented correctly, it should not replace anything. Only older mods replace game files.
Replacing game files is generally a bad idea and can lead to issues

I also put a screenshot up a little that I circled all the random spots that change. All the paths on the middle island do but also one tile here and there
I've also had issues with paths changing from what I set them as, but I'm also a couple versions behind the current version so I won't be much help. xD
The good news is I can replicate the issue (it doesn't occur on next day, but on save reload)! I'll do some testing to pinpoint the issue.

Hi Friends! We are back. @split scroll and I are playing a modded SDV game. We are almost at 100%. Missy's game keeps crashing and we have no idea why. We have most of the same mods but some are different. We have not had this issue since last week. We are very confused

This should be fixed with AT v6.4.1! You may (or may not) need to reapply the textures one last time for them to stick.

i'm so sorry its been a while since i did this
vortex can mess things up and is not recommended. But you don't have any being loaded. Error handler is trying to deal with the mods that have been removed but I guess it can't fix it all and so is crashing
but you have no mods loading except for: Save Backup, Error Handler and Console Commands

it's easy enough to do manually but If you want a mod manager, you can use "Stardrop" and if you have premium membership on Nexus you can use it to download/etc

Stardrop was made specifically for SDV, so it's pretty good
I like that it doesn't force changes in the background without telling you

Anybody know why the RSV minecarts aren't connected to the other minecarts using the Integrated Minecarts mod? It won't let me even use them anymore
Hey, so my friend and I are in modded multiplayer, and we keep having issues were the json assets are different for us. Crops become fish, some fish become seeds. Walls and floors are swapped around. I know this is caused by json shuffling, but this happens each time we play, and it's different items each time. How do we fix this?
usually happens if you don't have the exact same mods with the JA items running

also, sometimes when you use a backup service, you get the dropbox conflicted folders, which JA will try to read

like, only one of ya'll have the adonis amerensis seeds
yeah, if you have mismatched packs it'll cause things to appear differently on each side
because the game is in effect syncing the numbers between you

and we didn't touch them and they were like that yesterday (Stardrop)
we're using stardrop since that is the only one that plays nice with both macs and windows
so you have george and evleyn, lumistria trees, missy's shirts, witchy hats, etc turned off, but they are still loading?
so, they are turned on.
But we had a house mod, which was turned off
and it was working
and when it was on, it wasn't
and also a food retexture mod
and lux food retexture mod
which we took off because it made item sprites disappear in the winter time
retextures don't matter. But when it comes to JA the log you sent. one person had 5 extra JA mods loaded.

Don't worry about those, unless you have something currently breaking.
looking at it more.. Crazyone has a mod called [JA]ShaneAlex 1.1.1 by Quirinea (Laura Kataja) - Alex's sandwich which you don't have.
deluxe grabber mod has a lot of bugs mentioned. should i use it because i dont know any other good mod that does the thing this mod does
so I had to reset my game and add back most of my mods, the mods in vortex and my folder are the same but i keep getting the same message.

I have 97 on vortex but none of them are Loding in my game until I deployed them and now its just not working at all.
Vortex is not recommended as it can go wrong. None of the mods are loading as they have invalid manifest files

Depends on the mod. Most mods are more dangerous to remove during an existing run, rather than being added.
Still, try not to make huge changes to your mod loadout for any save.
can either manually install your mods or you can use a mod manager such as StarDrop.
and now I have a lot of mods in my files but they aren't running at all
your smapi log is reporting their manifest files are invalid, so they are broken for whatever reason.

There should almost never be a time when you make the Mods folder, no matter what system you're on, at the time of first installation

Sometimes mods get flagged by overzealous antiviruses. If you're really worried about viruses in mods you can:
- download from Nexus or Moddrop, which check all files for viruses automatically
- preview the file contents on Nexus to see what you're downloading (content packs containing only images and json files are highly unlikely to be viruses)
- view the source code for most C# mods on Github by going to smapi.io/mods and checking the advanced options
- download and compile the source code yourself

Apparently my friend threw a void eel in there actually, so that might be what the problem is.
We figured it out, apparently something keeps changing textures on them, showing them a completely different item when it isn't. But we have all the same mods, so I have no idea what is happening.

For PyTK's image scaling -> HD Portraits (only for portraits though)

Smapi deleted my child, I basically had my first child and I finally get to use the mods ChildAgeUp and ChildToNPC (the unofficial version) but then when I slept and went to the nursery room to check on my child Stardew became completely unresponsive crashed and when I loaded up the game, the command prompt said that they deleted my child to avoid the crashing is their anyway to fix this from ever happening again?

you may need to start completely over, including reinstalling gamepass
because gamepass is bad at updating itself correctly and those instructions only work for the latest version of gamepass

it could be AT but equally it could be the mod being formatted incorrectly and doesn't work with the latest version. time will tell

it's more to do with the patched game files..For example if you play a save with a custom NPC and then you remove that mod, and load it up again without error handler, you'lll get an error saying can't find character.xnb

you don't use xnb mods do you? I didn't see anything on your list I recognised as changing the farmhouse. Maybe search your mod folder and see if there are any files called "crib.tbin" or something like that
Not that I know of, I do have ace's basements and attics but they don't change the ground floor so I don't think that could be the issue

I have a problem with "More Animals" mod in multiplayer, when someone adopts an animal if goes to my home (host) and it displays in the inventory (Esc) as mine, with the custom name the other player gave, it doesn't go to the other player cabin, any idea how to fix? is there a character other than the period that I can use at the front of folders to get SMAPI to ignore them? Playing on a mac and it won't let me use periods because it's used for system files.
on Linux/Mac/Unix they are known as dot files and it makes them hidden. Unless there's been some change to Macs in recent years I am unaware of why can't you put the dot in front?
Can't say. I try to edit the name and I get a message saying the dot is reserved for system files, and it won't let me change it.

according to an old post you need to enable the ability to see dot files first. command+shift+.
probably done to stop people hiding files by accident and then not seeing them again.

no, just download it into your mods directory, SVE will use that instead of the one it bundled automatically
and the directory is just dragging and dropping the unzipped file right?

Cause what started happening was the items sold screen won't show up. We go to bed and the screen turns black and then it stays black. We waited around 8 minutes because this hasn't happened before
Out of curiosity have you tried the guest player leaving before they sleep.. and then just the host sleeps?

i have problem with my smapi launching (https://smapi.io/log/b7e2ae61a71e47a68d1a57bc00702a01) .I installed the game played for like 5 hours , when i tried to relaunch the game via smapi it was either not launching at all ( smapi was staying all mods load and ready!) or if it does its like 5 mins later and the game is hella laggy ( doesnt respond after trying to load the online game)

we would need to see a log to look for any conflicts/reason but I don't use the mod so don't know what it should do. unless you don't want to be spoiled you can look in it's files and see what the triggers for the events are supposed to be,

I think the problem is that I removed PPJA mid save
ive been using daisyniko's overgrown farm but i want to change to grapeponta's secret garden farm on the same, existing save. will changing maps in my existing save corrupt it? it should be fine aside from some buildings and stuff being in the water and cliffs right?
basically! you'll want to make sure you've got NoClip and Reset Terrain Features installed to take care of any oddities lol
(I've changed maps on almost every save file. One day I won't change my mind halfway through my save. One day. 😂 )

it is looking for a whole bunch of things that no longer exist. But as I have never used that mod I have no idea if there is a way to make it forget/remove those items.

I always seem to have issues with portraits and texture mods
I saw the files in my download were pngs but the ones in the game folder were xnbs
I deleted the mod to see if it just needed to generate a new file, but still get the same error
sorry to come back about this again, but if i were to post the content file, would someone be able to look over it and see if anything is wrong? ive looked but i cannot see anything, and SMAPI isnt reporting a bug with the mod. But no matter what i do the heart events just wont happen, even after meeting all the requirements
you might just have to ask the mod author

i think maybe then the issue may be with the location name? prehaps??????
depending on how the mod is made, some events might not "exist" yet until something triggers them to exist.
Not sure if this question belongs here, but I was just playing SV and it started to lag pretty badly, I was wondering if there could be a problem causing the lag or if I just have too many mods now and need to remove some--

thats actually not a lot, but it could be that you're using both pytk and spacecore together
yeah i tend to find using both pytk and spacecore causes lag for me
they arent not compatible, but they conflict a bit
those are really the only two mods i see that would cause lag?

It wasn't the loading time that would get longer, but it woud like freeze up for a second and the audio would glitch
if you want! its down to you, just make sure you dont have any mods that depend on the one you choose to delete
i would also suggest you look at the mods that change the games code

smapi tells you which mods change the games code when you load it up, so you should be able to identify whats causing them depending on what your doing in game

I think you've just extracted things incorrectly, but without going through each folder, look at the ones the red text is telling you are problems

so im putting the zip file in the mods folder
extracting all, it automatically directs to a folder with the same name as the zip file, and hten i trash the zip file
if everything is extracted correctly, try loading again
still lost on this. I might look for something that converts PNGs to XNBs
XNB's are just packed files

well the issue is that my mod pack is PNGs, and the files IN GAME are XNBs

You should never need to replace a XNB file. That will cause the game to bug out once it updates.

Yeah, you download the portrait you want, go and make a folder inside of Mods/Portraiture/Portraits/ Then put the unzipped mod folder you downloaded inside there
You may not even need to create a new folder. Just take the unzipped folder and place it inside of Mods/Portrature/

It assumes you have a folder named SHE'SPORTRAITS folder inside of Mods/Portraiture/Portraits folder

Nah I think her instructions are just being translated incorrectly.
Inside of your Portraiture folder, do you have one that says Portraits?

Ok inside that folder make sure you have one named ShesPortraits or whatever you want to call it. I don't think it really matters, but I would name it after the actual mod you're using

Could just be a pytk thing. The way pytk does things is weird sometimes

That's because it uses Harmony which can cause some weird issues if not done properly
