WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM

So something that does bug me is how characters wearing lipstick will randomly not have it in certain sprites

i added it back to this sprite of Abby

i noticed that her sprites have effects that the other characters don't? Such as the motion lines in her shocked sprite and the angry symbol in her angry sprite. This is probably to reflect her love of stuff like fantasy and video game, and probably anime too (where those kinds of effects are heavily used). So i decided to have fun with this one and add some colour to her face to show more emotion, even if it isn't realistic

you normally make them thicker and dark in areas of shadows and stuff
it also helps with dimension

so for eyes
normally the upper lines would be a lot darker cause the eyelid is casting a shadow

I use Krita, I want to paint with gradients and I watched tutorials but still dont get it, can someone help me?

I'm not too familiar with Krita but two main ways of doing gradients is:

1. Selecting the area with the lasso tool/magic wand tool and using the gradient tool (if there is one)
2. Use a large airbrush

OR: Paint flat colours and use a large soft eraser to erase the part where you want the gradient; then layer another colour under it

what i do is use a square brush that changes opacity with how hard you press, use two different colours and paint beside each other. when u get a colour between those use the colour picker to pick that colour and then continue blending and keep colour picking new colours between those colours you blend together until it’s all nice and gradient

but of course if you want an easy flat gradient you can use the gradient tool

i haven’t tried to airbrush method but that should work as well

key is to always always switch between colours!

it looks really good, and I love the choice of colours, thought the amount of colours spread around somewhat randomly make the skin look unfocused and messy, would recommend to reduce the amount of purple colour and similar colours to purple since it makes the skin look messy and reducing it would help the skin look more focused and less messy, overall I really like it! really good job! and I also recommend to save the current skin just in case the edited version is not to your liking

This is what i think might work. The main thing about making old faces is not necessarily the wrinkles, but the clear loss of firmness to the face.
If you make some skin chunks looser, not necessarily adding wrinkles to them, i think you can achieve an aging effect

if you add wrinkles put them where they matter, usually on parts that are the most mobile: eyelids, mouth, the forehead when crunching, etc.

-Get a new layer
-Draw what you're trying to draw
-If you have something not at all that you want, go back to bullet two, otherwise proceed
-If you have something close but not exact, lower its opacity and then make another new layer
-Using the low opacity lines as reference, try to redraw the lines more to how you want it
-Repeat this process until appeased
