Firstly, yes this is the right place to ask about this. I try to design each part island-by-island, and in general using grass and flowers. (and probably fruit tress as i get more into my farm.)

Current plans are to build a few more sheds (one in top right and others above the sprinkler area) and finish off the rest of the top half
I have a pretty steady stream of income from strawberries in the greenhouse, and I use the outside sprinkler area for quest crops.

I am on Winter Y2 rn, so it's the prefect season for me to "reform" the farm. Thing is, I don't have much iridium sprinklers yet, nor iridium bars. And it's my first time hitting the skull mines.
There's a layout I saw that I wanna follow but it has end game stuff (Gold Clock, Obelisks, Grandpa's Iridium cat...)

If it were me, I'll accidentally harvest those flowers whenever I'll get the honey loool it happens a lot to me so I make sure that there is a barrier or I'll make space to other side of the beehives to avoid getting the flowers

once you unlocked them you should put in junimo huts for your crops as well. Another thing you could add are the fish ponds as well
